Any Luck With Sprint - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

Anyone here who has the XT1806 and on the Sprint Network. Have anyone had any luck with flashing a custom rom, and getting network and data, without issues.. I'm stock rooted and have not made the move to custom, as it seems there is very little feed back from Sprint users on these roms..

There has been some feedback - and it hasn't been good.

Well at least I have gravity box, and Xposed working. Maybe when Sprint is no more and all T-Mobile. Maybe we will have better luck. All I can say, is I'm liken this device, better than most Samsung's I've had. At least it is rootsble, unlocked, and no carrier bloat.

Weak Wifi and Data Signals - Google Edition (Converted)

I just bought a HTC One last week and went through the process to convert it to a fully stock Google Edition before even using the phone. Everything went without a hitch.
Coming from a Nexus 4 (And Note II prior to that), I've noticed my Wifi and Data signals to be very weak compared to my previous devices.
For example, in my bathroom I get no Wifi Signal but my previous devices had no problems getting one here. I noticed at work the same thing - no Wifi in places I used to get it. It stays connected in both examples, but is just super super slow and shows little to no signal.
Within good range it works fine.
I have a Bell Mobility HTC One 32GB (Canada), I unlocked bootloader, S-OFF'd, Changed CID to the Google One and flashed the Google Edition RUU (Pre-rooted) Everything seems to work fine except the Wifi/Data signals are weaker than previous devices. I already received a 15MB update from Google that updated fine too.
Is Wifi/Data signals generally weak on this phone? Any suggestions?

What radio are you using?
You could experiment with different radios which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
Newest may not always be the best, so try different ones. Also, I think the Radio_4T.20.3218.03 (leak) is strictly ATT and doesn't have the international stuff.

Is Radio the baseband version? It says "4A.18.3263.15_10.38h.1157.04L"
Its whatever comes in the RUU for Stock 4.3 Google Edition rom
I've never really had to play with Radio's much in the past.
I assume I would need to flash a Custom Recovery again to flash the radio, then flash back to stock so I can continue to get updates. Probably should do this anyway so I can make a backup of my phone while I'm at it.

Yes it's the baseband.
And yes also for the custom recovery. You can only flash these radios using custom recovery. Don't know if it's worth the hassle for you though?

It's easy enough to do as long as I can find the Latest Stock recovery to flash back on the phone.
The signal is noticeably weak in a lot of spots it wasn't an issue with before, so I'm willing to try.
Anyone else with a North American based phone that did this conversion experience these issues?

I have a similar problem with my stock rogers phone. I think it started after the 4.3 ota update. My wifi connectivity constantly keeps turning off and on lasting only a minute or two. Watching videos has become too much of a hassle. i've seen other recent threads with the same issue regarding wifi connectivity. We need this problem fixed asap!
Has changing the radio fixed your wifi issues?
same here I the conversion to GPE nonroot and not unlocked but s-off. My wifi and data signals are horrible in places that were fine when I was running 4.3/htc sense5. My base band is 4A.18.3262.15_10.38h.1157.04L. Hope this gets fixed with 4.4.
am thinking about radio flash but to what? I have never done the procedure and sounds like a hassle...I would have to unlock and install custom recovery like twrp, dont have to root correct? Install the radio (also install new firmware?) then I would have to reflash the stock recovery? and relock phone to get OTA?

But when I am on LTE my download and upload speeds are so low. I have updated APN settings and tried different ones with no luck. I had no issues with 4G LTE before so I'm wondering if maybe I missed a step or something. My download rate is .56 Mbps and my upload is .42 Mbps...which is awful. I really am at a loss right now as to what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So.....
So noone has any advice? I've searched and searched. Apparently no one else is having this issue or they just don't realize it yet.

My only suggestion would be to delete the ROM slit and start over. I haven't heard of anybody else having this problem on the GPE ROM, so it sounds like it might just be a bad flash. Try again and let me know what happens.
Also list the steps you went through when you flashed the ROM, then we'll know if you missed a step.
No luck,
Here's the steps I took:
Downloaded safestrap, i9295 ROM, MF3 and camera fix.
Installed the latest safestrap.
Installed recovery
Booted to recovery
Created ROM slot 1
Installed i9295 ROM in ROM slot 1
Installed mf3
Installed camera fix
Rebooted.
Hopefully there is something I am missing or maybe I should just call at&t and see if its on there end. Wifi and Bluetooth work just fine.
Do you get normal speeds on your stock slot? If yes then it's definitely a ROM issue, if not then it's an AT&T issue.
The steps you are using are correct so you should be getting the same speeds as your stock slot.
So if I was a genius and flashed over the stock slot to begin with? Would that be the issue? Does 4G LTE require the stock rom to be there?

Oh boy. I've seen people doing that in the Verizon and AT&T threads, but you may be the first person who's done it on the S4 Active. I personally haven't done it so I don't know how much help I can be. According to the other threads you should be fine and everything should work properly, so I'm not sure what happened. My suggestion would be to Odin back to MF1 stock and make sure that you are indeed getting higher speeds. Then flash GPE to a ROM slot and confirm your speeds once again. If they both are working as expected, then try flashing GPE to your stock slot.
I've have GPE in ROM slot 1 right now and I'm getting the same speeds that I do on my stock slot. Other than basically starting from scratch I don't really know what to tell you. It might be a good idea to look through the Verizon and AT&T threads and see if anybody else has your same problem.
It may be of help
Are you on ATT network? If you are, i would flash "Hyperdrive ATT Compatibility patch" , you can find it in the Verizon S4 "Hyperdrive Rom" tread in the forum. It works great on other roms too.
Or make sure that you are not over the limit on your phone monthly internet, ATT wireless data plan, because if you are , they will slow down the speed for you until the end of your current billing cycle.

I had this problem on my att s4. I337. I noticed it while running GE rom. Then flashed cleanrom. Same issue. Then it seemed like my stock slot was having issues too. So today I reflashed the stock rom and removed safestrap. The phone has been working normal again. I don't know if it is root related or safestrap related. Maybe something about GE rom messes the modem up somehow. what version of safestrap do you have?
I have the newest version of safestrap.
Tried installing the hyperdrive att compatibility patch...sent my phone into a boot loop. So that's a no go. Guess I'll just have to live with it till I get a new phone.

Flashing custom roms on C6606

Ok guys, i figured i've refrained from customizing my phone long enough.
I'm well aware of how to flash things onto the phone. I am currently running 4.2.2 on my C6606.
I have dualboot recovery flashed onto it, phone is rooted, and the only mod i have is pure audio.
I know i have to unlock my bootloader to be able to flash roms that require a custom kernel.
My question is, is there anything i should lookout for before flashing onto my phone?
I just want to know if these roms will also work on the t-mobile network. Haven't seen too much activity from C6606 users on here, so i'm a bit curious on that.
I don't believe you can unlock the bootloader on a C6606. If you could, you would need to back up your AT? partition; the one that has all your DRM keys and stuff. But you can still flash custom roms that are made for locked bootloaders, with stock kernels... I have flashed the stock roms from other regions and never had a problem with my C6606 working on the T-Mobile network.
Good luck!
i flashed NUT's 4.3 rom from 4.2 and running that, we have a locked bootloader which means we cant use a custom kernel. sony's ramdisk layout is bit different then im used to, im used to standard boot.img format on many devices. anyways the dual recovery script allows for booting custom ramdisks, if i can get a cm one setup and going then we could have cm booting on locked bootloaders. this is no easy task and something i have never done before, not to mention there may be issues that isnt there with a custom kernel.

well i dont want peopel to get their hopes up about myself, its no easy feat and i applied for motorola financing last week, as i might end up going with a moto x. the bill with tmobile is a bit more than expected and going with a moto x would mean unlocked bootloader as well as lower monthly payments. you guys have some very talent people working on this device, it may end up happening on the z1 first and then get backported.

So say i tried to flash XperiaBlueLights, its a 4.2.2 rom, and it says its for a locked bootloader, it should work fine right?
Or the CriskeloRom, its 4.3 but it says it works on both locked and unlocked bootloaders. There shouldn't be an issue installing this on a C6606 should there?
Don't mean to ask so many questions, im usually the type to go and find out myself, but so far customizing my first sony phone isn't as fun, or easy as my past phones.

I think you would need to flash the C6606 kernel to be able to boot. I have written a C6606 tutorial for MIUI if you are interested in the Chinese version of Android. It is in the first post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46120012
C6606 user here. Currently running @niaboc79 4.3 Black Edition, and couldn't be happier.
I got my Z shortly after it became available, and have had a custom stock based ROM on it since day 1. I will admit there was a slight learning curve, but I knew I was switching to T-mobile and started reading up on the whole rooting/flashtool before I purchased and have stayed out of trouble (for the most part). Once you flash a ROM or two you will get the gist of it and it will become less confusing. The beauty of it is that we don't have to wait for T-Mobile to push out new Android versions. Once the Z gets it, so can we and no T-Mobile bloat. You will not have wifi calling if you haven't figured that out already.
Look for the "LB" (lockedbootloader) tag in the ROM title, and they should be good to go for us C6606 users.
Just follow the OP's instructions for installing and you will be fine. I haven't touched anything directly related to the C6606, other than APN's. I haven't had any luck doing the "download settings for internet and MMS" under wireless & networks settings.
I use these APN's every time I do a clean install and all network modes (3G, 4G, LTE) work just fine - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236735

im on the alliance v6 rom on my note 3 att smn900a and my data speeds are horrible does anyone know why? i tried flashing the stock modem after installing the rom and still no change
Have you tried a different rom to eliminate the idea of it being the rom? I've never heard of a rom limiting data speeds.
Have you checked your data usage thru your carriers website? Maybe you used a lot of data and have been throttled.
Just throwin out some ideas.

Ive tried S5 Experience, Alliance, PureRom,and Dynamic Kat. I checked and i havent went over , Another thing on the Alliance rom my 4g icon will change to an H almost all the time
Check the APN settings and verify they are the same as stock. That's a possibility.

No Signal Issue on Custom ROMs

I have an unlocked bootloader and rooted Nexus 6. I usually run custom ROMs but I have had some issues when I install them for about the past week or so. I use Straight Talk CDMA which uses the Verizon towers. If I flash an official firmware such as LMY47I (5.1) or LMY47Z (5.1.1) then I have no issues with LTE connecting from the very beginning of the setup screen. Everything works fine including voice, data, and texting. When I install a custom ROM the signal will not connect and there is an exclamation point (!) next to the signal icon. I did have to exchange my phone and Motorola sent me a new one but I was able to use custom ROMs without issues on this phone until sometime earlier this week.
I know that people have been having some issues recently with connection problems and there are various threads on them. I have tried several of these workarounds but it just seems odd that I never had these issues before.
Any help or suggestions would be great. Don't mind running stock firmware but would prefer to be able to use custom ROMs again.
Thanks in advance.

Try a different radio. I've read that the radio from the M test build is fixing some issues.
I've tried flashing a few of the newest radios but not the Android M version. Will give it a try.

You can even flash an older radio if need be.
So I tried installing two different custom ROMs and both times I got the same signal icon with an (!) next to it. There is no working connection. I tried flashing the radio from the Android M preview and also installed the radio from LMY47D (Verizon 5.1.0) since I am on Straight Talk CDMA. Neither one seemed to help. After flashing these radios I went back to restoring a TWRP backup based on just a stock firmware. From what I understand the radio is separate from any particular ROM you flash and thus independent of each other. I am able to get an LTE signal when I revert back to the backup.
So now I'm stumped. It doesn't seem to be based on the radio. None of the custom ROMs that I was able to use less than a week ago are able to find an LTE signal after a clean install. I can only seem to use official firmware versions.
Any other possible ideas? Could the phone be defective? It was an RMA replacement and I think it was new and not refurbished.
Thanks in advance.

Let me take a look at the APN settings on the stock firmware and then see how they compare when I use a custom ROM. In the past, I never had to set the APN settings as I thought they were set automatically on CDMA sim cards. I'll take a look.
Thanks.

Even if there's another APN with the same name as the one set by default, try switching to the other. That's what worked for me on Exodus.
