Im trying to install Blackberry for work on my unrooted device. The Blackberry UEM client tries to download the Blackberry email app but each time the Huawei App Gallery fires up instead and displays "This app is not yet availbale in the current region". It's very unwelcome.
If I root the phone, the Blackberry work app will refuse to work. Very annoying. Why did they feel the need for this crappy bloatware?
- Has anyone got any tips please for suppressing / removing the Huawei AppGallery without a permanent root?
- I suppoose I could root, remove it, then unroot it?
- Any issues if I remove it?
Thanks
If it helps, I'm using blackberry work for my work email with no problems, errors or need to uninstall apps. I have gallery still.

Just gone in to app gallery to take a look and looks like I've never agreed to its privacy notice, so maybe that's why it's inactive and never piped up?

Thanks - thats very interesting. I also figure that if your phone works fine while the AppGallery is "dormant" I could probably root and delete it without any issues...

I'm rooted, i've tried editing the config file myself and I keep getting the error System UI has crashed until I remove the line and save and reboot. I've also tried the ones from the market place to add the on screen navigation buttons but none of them work either.
Something I'm doing wrong here or is it an issue with touchwiz?
Did you try Gravity Box? It's an Xposed module. Idk if it will allow you to use them on the stock ROM, but I had success on the AOSP port using SafeStrap.

I've downloaded xposed but I don't see options for onscreen navigation or Gravity Box.

This takes up valuable
real estate when I'm trying to view my Flickr account and photos. There's no obvious way to remove it. Is it possible? I've searched the FAQ with no results, and some previous forum topics have me possibly in a "bucket test" - but all of the subsequent links to forum topics are closed or private.

In another thread, somebody mentioned using Apex launcher. Apparently, thew is a feature to add nav buttons.

What about pie controls?
I'm sure this is a setting, but i can't figure it out. When i long press on the home key and launch google now, I have to say "ok Google" to make it listen.
Is there a way to have it start up and immediately start listening for a command? (with out me saying ok Google)
there are some apps that will make that happen, but your battery will die really fast, since its always "active"..
I don't want it to always listen, i just want to long press the home button, have Google now launch and be waiting for my voice command without me saying ok googke first.
Theres no way other than what is suggested. As stated, your battery will suffer cause of it..drastically.
Even if I enable google now to always listen, when I long press home, I still have to say ok google, so that's still not doing what I want.
you cant do it that way...
That is the way how Google designed it. You can live with it or switch to S-Voice.

Guys if you don't know there is nothing wrong with saying I don't know. However I'm sure there is a way to do almost anything within limits of the phones hardware and software.
I may have a solution for you....if you use a 3rd party launcher like Nova.
In Nova settings, locate buttons and gestures, then configure home press to be an activity under shortcuts. From there navigate under Google search and choose voice search activity and it will function as described.
Well if you are at any other screen aside from home it will take you to home, pressing it again will initiate Google voice search.
There are other ways which involve making shortcuts, possible with various programs or by using tasker, but I believe this to be the simplest.

Wanam also can do it by mapping long press to voice search. . Requires root.

The nova method works, but I didn't see an option for LONG PRESS, just double press - map that the Voice Search and it does exactly what I want which is to launch and start listening without me saying "OK GOOGLE" first. :good:
Without root is it anyway to stop the annoying screen overlay detected message? I tried several fixes from google searches.

No, but there's a workaround. Go to app info for the app that causes it and manually set permissions.

There's an app called install button unlocker on playstore that solves that problem.

This totally worked nice find. This was such a huge issue with this phone.
I need help with this adware dtrk.slimcdn.com. It keeps redirecting me to some ads while I'm browsing. I tried a whole bunch of those adware detection tools and anti virus but no luck. Tried following steps on the net and uninstalled apps I got lately before this started happening. Anyone got any ideas? My phone isn't rooted. Would be a big help if this gets solved. I don't want to reset my phone.
is it appear in safe mode?

Check your apps one by one. If you see any apps that look fishy uninstall them. Which browser are you using? The stock browser supplied with the phone or another browser such as Google Chrome?

Because there is no viruses.
If you have balls to call some shady apps aka adware a viruse, you seriously have some problems.
Virus is not adware, and adware is not a viruse.
99% of situation like that, when someone whine "oh my god i have viruse on my phone!" Is because they installed or clicked on some crappy app made as a bait for people without basic knowledge of internet.

As in the s8 plus, while watching youtube an icon will appear to let u fit the video to the entire screen. Now on my note 8 this icon is no longer present.
When you play a youtube video a round "crop to fit" button pops up which allows it to play fullscreen.

Yup tried that already. I did a factory reset yesterday cuz of other issues
That is a bummer. I looked all through settings on mine and couldn't see anything that would affect. Good luck!
Had the same issue. Updated the Software in settings and now its working. You'll see that the Software update includes enhancements. Perhaps Samsung forgot to include that feature the first time around.

It doesn't seem to matter. I can tap anywhere and the icon will pop up on the right side.
For me some videos start out cropped, like some videos from Vevo. It says "Automatically adjusted to fit screen." Then you have to tap the screen to switch it back to normal. And others start out normal and you have to tap to crop.
