Next month Huawei will stop support unlocking the bootloader for their phones.
If I got the bootloader unlock code already it will be possible to unlock the phone later? Or I must to do it before?
Yes, get the code and store it. You should be able to unlock at a later time.
But warranty is void when you ask the unlock code or only if i use the code? Thanks

Like most providers they've opened the door to bootloader unlocking, doing this alone won't void your warranty.
What follows if permanent will.
If you can reverse what you do or keep it at a stock level!! Then you're fine.
If you've got madness going on, SuperSU and you send it back?? Then yea.
Or if they can prove beyond reasonable doubt that what you did was the cause of the fault!! Then yea you'll lose warranty.
In the whole time I've been with android and I've been with them from the G1 (the beginning)
You know how many I've seen declined from similar situations?
Zero.....not one......
Just don't take the piss.
Rebrand to 432? So what it's still stock.
Send it in with mods on it, you'll get a nice big middle finger.
Diagnosing phones are just people.
Just be reasonable with what you send them.

Hi, I have a rooted G1, I was wondering if there was a way to unlock it so it can work with other networks. If not please just say no, I don't want people flaming me lol.
Yes, the phone can be unlocked regardless of root.
When you put a different SIM in the phone will ask for an unlock code. Both methods require you handing over your IMEI located under the battery of the phone.
If you've been a tmo customer for longer than 90 days phone them and say you're going to another country, they will give you the code.
If not, you'll need to buy an unlock code, it will cost around £10/$17. You give them your IMEI and they send you the code.

That hasn't been achieved yet, supposedly the SIM lock goes deeper than the SPL... or something
There is an alternative.

I haven't tried it myself but I hear that it works just fine.
Worth a shot.
Hey guys
My girlfriend bought a phone from a local carrier to use on a different local carrier, and when they found out, they gave her a bunch of scary talk about how unlocking voids the warranty and it'll come up and blah blah.
So :
1) Can an optimus 2x once unlocked be re-locked?
2) Anyone have any first hand experience with getting warranty service done on an unlocked phone without an active account at Wind Mobile?
Thanks
If i'm not totaly mistaken, You can flash an original LG rom with NVflash and that should do it
Anyone correct me if i'm wrong
You can't re-lock it, but it will not void the warranty.

Please be very careful whenever anyone in this forum tells you to flash an LG ROM.
The Wind Mobile "Optimus 2x" is the P999. You should be asking questions in the inappropriately named "T-Mobile G2x" forum.
All of the ROMs and guides in this forum are for the P990.
Hey thanks cmstlist
that would have been a bad mistake.

I'm with you, but I know of a person that had call LG Spain and they told him that the warranty is lost when you unlock the phone if the code was not given by the company who locks the phone.
Sorry for my english!!
Warranty or not, they can refuse to repair your phone when you broke the agreement..
So except Italy modding your terminal still avoids the warranty?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
I've just called a german general customer service.
You can mod your phone, since Android is open source, you may however not remove a sim-lock. Your warranty is void if you flash your phone to unlock it for sim cards for other networks.
So it seems like everything is fine as long as you flash it back to the original firmware, of course this only applies to stock-simlock free phones.
This is only for germany, and i dont know if its completely true, but it sounds good
Sounds like a load of crap to me, you don't flash to unlock, you have to get a code generated.
All statements "this and that voids warranty" are crap, since when you flash stock rom using SmartFlash, the phone is in factory state - they can't find out what you have been doing with it (not in any easy way).
But I don't know about sim unlocks, whether they are purely ROM thing or some deeper mod of the phone.. can't guarantee you that. Also, when you give the phone to somebody, you never know what he did with it.

I get it just fine. There is no way something done in the correct manner is going to void the warranty. LG's service dept won't know if an unlock code comes from a carrier or eBay, they will be identical.
The problem is the carrier states it will void the warranty if they dont issue the unlock code...
Well, if you bring it in for repairs to your carrier (who I understand you bougt it from), they can refuse to help you if you broke your agreement with them. If after a year, when you can get the unlock code for free, there is no reason why they shouldn't help you.
If you bring it to LG, and keep your carrier out of it, there is no reason why they shouldn't help you..

Exactly. You might aswell just flash the original firmware and everything will be fine.
Has anyone been able to successfully unlock the Xperia T locked to Bell?
I have tried with 3 separate online unlock Companies. All three have failed to generate an unlock code. They were all very apologetic and refunded my money but the phone still remains locked...
Any suggestions before I take it in somewhere and have it unlocked via cable and software? This will void the warranty though.
Thanks

Hi,
I have a Rogers Xperia T and also tried two companies that failed, and then found one that succeeded, though it took 4 days to get the code.
http://unlock.canadagsm.ca/ was able to provide the correct code for me. They are more expensive, but if you need help their service is excellent compared to the others I've tried. (I am in no way affiliated with them, to be clear).
PM me if you need more information.
BTW, you can't have this model unlocked with SETool at the moment, if that's what you had in mind by "cable and software".

I saw this on youtube the other day, the person apparently used cellunlocker.net

Maybe give them a shot? According to the video it's about $30?
I used bellunlock.ca. Took three days but worked.

Unlock codes
My provider is MTS, their website says to unlock you just have to swap out your sim card and put in one from another provider, enter the code and you are unlocked (for free). Does this permanently unlock the phone? I know that my provider will unlock it for $50.00, I've followed search links and discovered $45 codes are avail - not worried about price - but what about reliability? This will make the process of flashing much more simple for us if it's been proven.
So after little research I found (unfortunately) the definitive answer I was not hoping for. Apparently sim-unlocking your phone is not going to unlock
your bootloader - noobie idea I had - so it does not get me very far down the road of customizations. Too bad, but I have faith in the creativity of the devs out there.
Buying them beer seems like a good idea.
I'm waiting for my Sprint Moto X to arrive next week. I've gleaned that my rooting options appear to boil down to either a) "officially" unlocking the bootloader through Moto (and voiding warranty) or b) using SlapMyMoto to root (which also voids the warranty, but presumably Moto won't know and theoretically leaves me the option of trying to return to stock if I need to).
I'm wondering if folks would comment on why they opted for one choice over the other (and obviously, correct any misconceptions I have. Never needed to use the warranty on a smartphone, but obviously there can always be a first time.)
Thanks.

It's old news that Motorola is no longer voiding the warranty for unlocking the bootloader of Developer Edition X's. If you don't have a dev edition then slapmymoto is your only choice.
Its easier to work with an X that has an unlocked boot loader. Easier to root and have R/W abilities with unlocked bootloader.
You just have to ask... do I feel lucky? And decide "will I need my warranty?"

meh... the desk jockey at the sprint store is unlikely to know anything about bootloaders or rooting. And chances are if you get to the point where you need to exercise your warranty (i.e. Bricked or other wise) then they will take a look at the phone and see it doesn't boot and give you a new one. They don't have time to give post mortems to every phone that is returned.. they can simply send them back to get refurbished in bulk.

While I know that, and you know that, it doesn't change the fact of what its stated on Moto's web site when you request the code to unlock your bootloader.. that your warranty is voided. It also doesn't mean that Sprint, or other carriers, wont do "postmortums" on devices they receive at their repair center and try and bill someone if they discover the bootloader was unlocked. At the same respect, since you need to enter info into Moto's web site about your phone to get the unlock code (where you acknowledge your warranty is now voided), wouldn't it be interesting if Moto decideds to start feeding back IMEI, serial numbers, etc of these devices to the carriers?
Call me paranoid.. Crazy, or whatever. Knowing what Moto says the policy is, and being aware of it, is important.
Will the carrier follow through, can they follow through, etc.. has been discussed many times over in the past, so i don't want to start again now.

All due respect, I believe your statements are not applicable or wrong.
1) This is the Sprint Moto X, not the Developer Edition
2) You can unlock the bootloader through the Moto web site, but in doing so void the warranty.

Yeah, that's the overall message I've been getting. Was just attempting to get a (obviously unscientific) sense of which option most people were choosing.

I hadn't considered that telling Moto doesn't necessarily mean that Sprint will automatically find out. Hmmm.

I suspect I'll probably unlock the bootloader. I've never, ever needed my smartphone warranty before. So of course, this means some disaster likely awaits.
Unlock bootloader. Much less of a hassle and more of a benefit.
I would also like to root my phone, and don't want to void the warrantee. And for practical purposes, Sprint didn't deal with moto-maker phones, they tell you to take your phone to Motorola.
So I don't want to unlock the boot-loader at this time. Maybe after the warrantee expires.

Well, your warranty is void whether you root or unlock the bootloader. Personally, I'd unlock the bootloader because it gives you more options to recover from user error.
I don't have to tell Motorola that I am rooting the phone. I have to tell them if I unlock the boot-loader. But poking around, it does look like it is dangerous to root this phone without unlocking the boot-loader.

Meh, it's not all that difficult. Just follow the instructions word for word and you'll be fine. Just make sure you have all the correct drivers and files before beginning.
It'll be much easier to enable wifi hotspot with an unlocked bootloader though. I already tried it once with my Moto X with a locked bootloader and it's a PITA. Had to go back to stock and run SlapMyMoto again. Framework-res.apk is a fickle *****.
hi guys just wondering is it ok to unlock bootloader on clt-l09 p20 pro. its a uk vodafone model. I have unlock code. many thanks.
sorry folks just bumping this as i have looked for an answer but cant find one.
If you got valid warranty then you should not. Unlocking the bootloader during valid warranty will make warranty become invalid after. So wait for warranty expire first before doing it.
Without warranty means you can no longer get phone fixed in warranty if an hardware problem appears under the valid warranty.
So this is why i suggest you to wait for the 1-2 years warranty has expired and then you can unlock the bootloader.
im not bothered about voiding the warranty. i just want to know if its ok to do

it is ok, but again if you device get's a defect after unlocking your bootloader, then repair will cost you. So that's why i would not recommend unlocking the bootloader during valid warranty.
Since phone might be fine now, but later after you unlocked bootloader and something like phone camera begun to get spots or display starts to act weird and so on. Then repair center will just request money for your repair, because bootloader is unlocked and warranty is voided.
So my suggestion is to wait for warranty to expire, then you can unlock bootloader and play around. In main time you can request for a unlock code.
