Does anyone know of a config setting on the Z which will initiate something other than Voice Dialer when voice dialing is activated from a bluetooth speakerphone or headset?
Have you tried using Smart Connect? It offers config which should fulfill your cconditions.
Tasker is paid and complex but really powerful alternative.

Thanks Swarj, I have tried SmartConnect. but I couldn't see any option to select another app to intercept audio from the BT mic. Let me know if I have missed something obvious.
Tasker looks promising. The learning curve might be too steep for me but I'll give it a go. Coming from a PC I can't believe how cheap Android apps are!
I also tried Bluetooth Launch, which should solve the issue according to the blurb, but there are display formatting issues with the Z.
Hello does anyone know how to reconfigure custom headphones on our lg 4x? I am using headphones with 3 buttons instead one like in stock lg headphones. All 3 buttons does the same thing. single click play/pause, double click next track and long click is open google voice. if anyone knows the solution it would be great to share :good:
hi,
first of all i would install "jays headset control" to see if you can use the different buttons at all. (you have the option to chose between a one-button and a three-button headset)
if this is not working either, install keytest.apk (google it) and see if each button sends a different keycode. if so, you should be able to use it for your purpose!

Thanks for your reply. I did the test with keytest.apk and all three buttons sends the same keycode. I have read somewhere that can be changed only by kernel but I don't know how to do it
On our device it's not supported by default, but I recall seeing kholk implement this kinda stuff in eprj kernel, you might check that out.

And I create this post to share out the issues/possibly bugs and I hope someone from Huawei will see this and take improvement actions.The reason is simply is when you chat to the customer support, always ended up with political answer (at least for me).
Here are what I think need improvements/fixes:
1. My P20 Pro have the bluetooth always on and connected to my Polar M430 sports watch. Today I found that the phone Bluetooth was switched off without my notice. When I try to switch on back the Bluetooth, the phone just freeze (screen black up) and ended up I have to long press the power button to hard restart the phone!
2. Where is the setting for user to choose the build in sms messenger notification tone? Why one system notification tone for all?
3. Dim WhatsApp notification sound. Not sure why but the WhatsApp notification just dimmer than my old mate 8.
4. Mobile game compatibility, some of the game I used to play on mate 8, now do not work properly in P20 Pro. What a lame a flagship not supported by game developer?
5. Touch vibration intensity setting, where is it?
6. Bluetooth headset control not fully work with 3rd party music player eg. Huawei AM61 on PowerAmp. Not sure this is Huawei issue or the apps issue.

Garmin losing connectivity
I have had my P20 Pro for two days and noticed that similarly to you, my Garmin which had an excellent always on connection to my Xperia Z5 premium, is often disconnected unless I force it to sync.
For the Bluetooth problems you have to set the app auto start settings of the Polar / Garmin app to manuell and give full permissions. Otherwise the phone will recognize the battery drain in the background and kill the app.
I use a Garmin vivoactive 3 and after I changed this all is fine. You will get an notification about heavy battery drain at some point, but just ignore it.

Suddenly turns off
Im having the same issue with my P20 pro ,
The phone turns off in my pocket suddenly without any signs and to power it on again i have to long press the pwoer button !
I have my phone paired to fitbit charge 2 & i dont know if this is causig the issue or not
So far this happened to me twice now , so frustrating
My main issue is the display scratches like nothing. No gorilla glass.

did you manage to find a fix for this issue ?? so frustrating , i tried to pinpoint the source of this issue with no luck i just happens randomly
Mine doesnt play well with facebook messenger. Something so basic. As for boomerang, it doesnt save the vid taken. At some point, there was no audio on vids that i sent thru msgr but got fixed after i reset my phone. I hope huawei really does notice these problems. I've never had to go thru such problems with my samsung phones before.

Some of these things are specific features to other phones. Phone ringing louder in a pocket for example, is usually HTC phones or maybe Samsung, Vibration Intensity usually Samsung, although it never allows you to go higher as Samsungs are already set to highest setting.
Notifications are per app, so the default tone is only for apps where you cannot set a tone.
So for messaging apps, or gmail, you change those tones inside the apps, or under apps in the main settings. Much like iphone, the settings are for each app.
I would switch to gboard, it's much better than swiftkey.

Google Home won't open shopping list in Chrome browser.
Seems like permission issues but I've looked through everything obvious. Any one else?
Without a doubt, one of the best phones i have ever had. Still... some basic problems. Facebook messenger is not working correctly, wont let me send picture with my front camera. i take the picture and it doesnt show the send button at all. When i take with rear camera, it allows me to send them. very frustrating. also, there is no seperate sound control for ringtone and notifications. to turn the volume for notifications down, i also have to turn down the ringtone volume... really basic stuff!! come on. any solutions?

I had the same problem on a Y6 Pro Huawei device. After 3 or 4 times I used the application it is not working anymore, since it closes
immediatly after lunching.

Hello all,
One thing that I have noticed with some apps that may be causing some wired issues is the full screen display mode.
What I would suggest to try is if you have enabled the full screen mode for an app you are having issues with, try disabling it. This can be done by going to settings>display>full screen display>"name of problem app" and simply turn the toggle off if it's enabled.
It may or may not help but have a go and see.
Automatic Brightness
I am having this recurring issue with the Auto Brightness. It is always set to Automatic and I prefer to set it myself. Anybody have this issue?

By any chance have you used the 'optimisation' tool or the battery tool? I did and battery was going very bad.
Yesterday I did a factory reset and never touched those tools again and for the moment everything is going very well.
I remember that brightness was constantly changing (even on manual) on my p9 after having used those options.

I can't get mobile data to work on my p20 pro. Everything else works. I have AT&T.
Would have been good if the P20 Pro handled date/time file attributes correctly rather than just stamping all over the created/modified/acessed data with the date and time of the copy like many other Android devices.
Only the Nexus and OnePlus ranges have sorted this out as far as I know. It seems such a basic fault not to have been fixed in a flagship device.

Had the same issue
Go to settings-security & privacy
Scroll down to more and scroll down to Reliable agents. Disable Google smart lock and restart phone. Enable Google smart lock and you will see smart lock options

This seems to be a known bug. It will most probably happen again, I updated the Google Play Services to the latest beta and now it's working for two straight days in a row, before, it would stop and go white every one to two days.

I've found the setting.
You'll need a launcher such as Nova or use Tasker to send the intent. If using Nova Launcher simply add an Activities widget and select MirrorShare from the activities list. This will create a shortcut on your desktop.
If you want to launch with Tasker send an intent with the following:
ACTION: android.intent.action.VIEW
PACKAGE: com.huawei.android.mirrorshare
CLASS: com.huawei.android.airsharing.player.DeviceListActivity
If anyone would rather just have an apk to do this hit thanks and leave a comment, I'll compile my task into an app and post it here. Cheers!

MirrorShare is in the regular settings menu. Doesn't want to connect for me though it could be my TV.
I was asking about smartlock. Mirrorshare is working in my case with no problems

Also mine seems to be limited to Bluetooth conditions only, you may need Bluetooth turned on and paired with something to activate it. If anyone has the old area based Smart Unlock from nougat working I'd love to know. I've built my own version of locale based Smart Unlock in Tasker and it works great. I can dig out my tutorial if you're interested in going down that rabbit hole. I have downloadable links to the tasks/profiles so all the hard work is done. But it does require Tasker and either a little knowledge or willingness to learn.

Here's the link. I've got a few projects in that thread and the smart unlock is the one linked. Simple download the project file and import it into Tasker. It works better than regular Smart Unlock imo just make sure to

Maybe it was, but I have 152 update, and smartlock is not working like it wasn't before, even after 2 factory resets. It's just not working.

Hm, looks like you're correct. Huawei is odd...
experienced the same issue,after a few days from when I started using the mobile phone, and the only way to get rid of it was to enter in trusted agents, disable Smart Lock, reboot the device, enter in Trusted agents and turn Smart Lock On again. The Smart Lock issue is reported on official google Forum since more than a year on different models (Search for "SOLVED: Smart Lock options missing " on Google Help Forum). As only TEMPORARY solution is reported the trick on Trusted Agents I reported. As I mention it is indicated as temporary solution, since many users experienced this problem again after some time. It is unknown whether someone of the Android Dev Team is working on a fix, or ever heard about it.

I use smartthings on my s21+ regularly. I have a Samsung tv and soundbar on the app. A popup from smartthings showed up asking if I wanted to mute tv etc when a phone call is being received or made. I said yes and there was an option for the tv and soundbar. I clicked on both and by mistake deselected the soundbar. I want to change the option so the tv and soundbar mutes, as they play together via samsung symphony. Where can I find the setting for that? I have checked in the app and no help under settings. I uninstalled the app and re-installed, with the hope that it would forget my option, but it still just gives option to mute for tv when a call comes in or being made....
I personally don't have those devices so it would be hard to make guesses on how to do it. I would suggest calling Samsung and getting their advise.
