[Discussion] Remove and replace navigation bar - Samsung Galaxy S9 Guides, News, & Discussion

I write this thread to discuss and share your ways to remove and replace the navigation bar on your Samsung device.
To enhance the usage of tiny bezel screen, people try different methods and apps to remove and use other app to navigate with gesture and pie control. I tried several method but still not satisfied so I want to hear your method.
So please share:
- The app or the method that you use to remove the navigation bar
- The app replacing native nav bar that you use to navigate
- Advantage and disadvantage of these apps.
So I start first:
- I use Navigation Gesture from XDA to remove and replace native nav bar (gesture navigation)
- The disadvantage I see is that because the use overscan method to remove the nav bar so it mat break some UI. For example, Samsung internet tabs alignment, edge lighting, the grey background when a windows is pop up. And the gesture navigation is not work on the overlay apps like facebook messenger chat head.

I will list here some methods that I tried:
- Using overscan : Using overscan manually by adb will crop the lockscreen so then I using apps that Navigation Gesture using the same method but it will fix your lockscreen
- Using Substratum System Mod overlay - remove immersive nav bar: this method seem fix almost all the UI problem (crop screen, edge lighting, pop up windows, Samsung internet tabd alignment) but it still has disadvantage is there will be a gap when using keyboard. Moreover it difficult to find the gesture navigation app to use with this method because the pill is not always at the bottom.

Now I am trying using the native hide bar on Samsung (double click the dot on nav bar) and using OnePlus Gestures app to navigation. The advantage of that is it not break UI, the Oneplus Gestures app work on any overlay app (facebook messenger, even native nav bar). But the advantage is everytime you swipe the old native nav bar will show.

The best way for me so far
I tried almost all app to remove and replace the navigation bar for my Samsung S9 but all of them facing serval crop screen and app UI issue. For example Samsung Internet new tabs alignment, Crop grey backgound when windows popping up (I will attache screenshot below.)
And now I think I found the best way so far to fix all these issue
- "Oneplus Gestures" is best one for me for the alternative app to replace the navigation bar because not like others, the pill of this app is always at the bottom (not shift) and it work on overlays app (ex: FB messenger)
- "Hide Nav Bar" is the app that I choose to remove the native nav bar but for now it has some issue which cropping some app and I have solution for that. You have to enable global immersive mode then exclude the apps that cropped. So far I found these apps need to exclude: Smart Capture, Edge Widget, Instagram, Gallery. By filter immersive mode for these app you could use "Immersive Mode Manager" app or just write this adb command
Code:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.samsung.android.app.smartcapture,-com.samsung.android.app.widgetedge,-com.instagram.android,-com.sec.android.gallery3d
- Not finish yet, the fix other UI issue (Samsung Internet, Gallery) you need to use "Routines" app belong to Good Lock 2018 app to use Samsung Hide Nav Bar for Samsung Internet and Gallery app.
Then enjoy your edge to edge screen with gesture navigation. This work around fix all my issue when remove and replace navigation bar on my S9. If you find other issue feel free to discuss.

i use the gestures in samsung one hand operation+ in good lock

Gesture control is pretty much perfect for me.
Got three zones:
Bottom:
tap for recents
swipe up for home
swipe up and hold for splitscreen
Left and right:
swipe for back
The only noticable problem is the 1px white line at the bottom and the free navigation bar space only in samsung music.

I like for perfectism while using xda pill will get lock screen shortcut issue
I use hide navigation by modify build.prop and all in one gesture that work fine
Home force touch button didnt work in enture but still workable in screen off for unlock. And doesnt impact for DEX mode against xda gesture (surely u can blacklist for Dex app)
I tried GMD gesture but most times dun work in edge swipe
Still chasing for the perfect method

I came here because I couldn't tap my smart capture buttons after hiding my nav bar with Hide Nav Bar but now its solved thanks to the detailed solution provided above. I didn't follow all the steps, I just downloaded ImmersiveManager and blacklisted the Samsung Capture app and turned on navigation mode as immersive setting.
I'm using OnePlusGestures with bottom swipe left and right for recents and back, respectively. Samsung's hard home press works even when the built-in Samsung's hide nav bar dot disabled with Hide Nav Bar and ImmersiveManager. Need both these apps to make hard home press work everywhere, though. I'm sad that the latest security patch for Note 9 got rid of hard home press gestures for recents and back. I'd prefer the original Samsung pressure-sensitive gestures over what OnePlusGestures offer.
All I want to say to the Android OS lead designers in charge of stock navigation schemes... You ****ing suck at your job. Even without the hardware to support stuff like pressure sensitive gestures, is it so damned difficult to get rid of that ugly ass **** down there? Its a poor use of screen real-eatate (just like your company's idea for a notch) and a culprit of screen burn-in. SMH.

Also used to use Navigation-Gestures by XDA before switching to RR-Rom - There is a feature called 'Fling' which I prefer now because the overall-look is better and more customizable...

Completely agree about the "Fling" feature, I've been using it on Dirty Unicorns for OnePlus, too.
But please, tell me: how is RR ROM compared to stock Samsung OneUI ?
I'm not rooted yet because of the well known HWC issue, but I'd like to know first hand from an actual user: how does RR perform?
I'm interested on overall smoothness, i.e. no dropped frames during animations.
Thanks in advance!

[APP] zMooth gesture app to replace keys

Just finished publishing zMooth gesture app in android market, it will allow you to use gestures to mimic back, home, menu and power (Pro version) hardware keys.
I wrote this app to be unobtrusive by using minimum amount of screen space but at the same time be very easy and intuitive to use. If you use for couple of days you will understand how easy it is to use.
after you install the app you will see a blue area at the bottom of the screen, swipe left on this area to go back, swipe right for menu and gesture a up-arrow(^) for home.
I highly suggest that you try using different gesture length and speed, it is very sensitive at default settings.
I picked the gestures which will have least conflict/collision so that when you gesture you don't have to worry that it might fire the wrong action. The aim was to make them error resistant and build user confidence in gesturing.
you don't have to do complete swipe or draw arrow symbol correctly, just a small quick gesture will work.
The swipes don't have to be perfectly horizontal, you can do them at an angle.
Small swipe/gesture will also work, they don't have to do be as long as they were shown in screenshots.
I didn't pick any complicated gestures because back, home and menu should be achievable with out giving a second thought, after couple of days the fingers should move with least effort and finger flexion and MUST be easier than pressing buttons.

Updates:
Please check market for updates and changes.
Sorry for the quality, I never posted videos of phone screen's before, didn't know how difficult it is to capture these screen's on video.
Omg! I was dreaming about app like this
This is my second HD2, and I'm a little paranoic about using screen-off and back key
Big thx.
Hmmm, I can't set Display Height below 20. If I set less than 20, turn off the app, this always back to 20 value.
Secondly, would be great to able to set position of the bar (not only the bottom).
klusek1985: I personally never turn off the app so never noticed it. I set min as 20 so people don't accidentally make it too small. is 20 being too obtrusive? what lcd_density are you using?.
going to sleep will be back tomorrow sometime.
I use HD2, so it is WVGA. Density is 240 (NexusOne rom)
Imo 20 value is too large for me. Maybe you can unlock full spectrum of values able to set ?
I understand an option like change color of bar etc. will be avaible on future versions ?
Again, good work
Great job man!!! I always think pressing the back button is a very extra movement... and you just save the world!!! ha ha.... thanks man for your effort! Appreciate it. I think this app is cool...
First impression is really good, I would like to see some features as:
- Ability to move the zone to anywhere on the display
- change the colour of the zone / change colour of gesture draw
- make the zone / gesture draw transparent (top priority reqeust from me )
- set the size of the "popup" box / disable bigger box?
- disable draw area if application X is running (like widgetlocker - dont need this nice app when the screen is locked) (high priority for me again )
- maybe later, add custom draws? draw a square and launch application X
If these feature will come in the future... well what should I say, that would be awesome
Really nice!
Edit: Cant find it on market yet
Edit2: Bug found:
When chaning the height I have to reenable the app otherwise I get an error "error executing gesture, please restart app"
Sometimes also happens when device gets into standby and wakes up.. (need to confirm)
Was planning some of the features you mentioned already. Thanks for feedback. App is in market now, updated the OP.
I installed from Market, and I can set 10 (size) now
Thanks for this work, it's usefull, but i've a problem with the height, i want 10, in setting it says 10, but when i do the first gesture on my home, it come back with 50 of height, and in setting, it show me 10 ???
P.S: in green, my home would be happy

I will try fixing the height issue today. (hopefully I will get some free time at work).
It's like a dream come true! Thank you! Please keep updating this!
This is really handy!
But I would like to have home on gesture up, instead of having to draw an arrow.
Left:back
right:menu
up:home
Heck, if there's time. Why not let us create ur own gestures for app-launching ect?
And transparancy would be nice, but I see that's already been suggested.
Even if you decide not to do this, I think I'll keep this app on my phone.

you don't have to really draw the complete arrow (or left/right swipe), just do quick gesture up and down. up arrow is like home symbol(like roof of your house).
try to decrease length/time of gesture and see how sensitive and easy it is. I put long lines in screen shots just to show for beginners.
version 1.0.4 pushed to market, hopefully fixes height issues that you guys are having.
Thanks for the update, now, i can have height on 10 ...
Sorry, but in green, it's possible ?
Great application, fast and smooth. Only I can't lock on sense rom...
Very nice app. Just one suggestion. Isn't it more intuitive to swipe up to access menu? Usually the menu will slide up from bottom of screen so I think it's more natural to swipe up?
Awesome App, i was tired of pressing the home button on my hd2.
On an hd2 running typhoons 3.0.1
^ goes to home screen
Left does nothing
Right brings up the menu
Zmooth 1.04
ya since menu slides up gesture should be slide up, you can actually slide up inclined as shown in below screenshot to pull up the menu.
I picked the gestures which will have least conflict/collision so that when you gesture you don't have to worry that it might fire the wrong action. The aim was to make them error resistant and dependable.

Hello Xda!
This is my new app DeskBar Launcher. It creates a bar at the bottom of the screen of your Android device and can even replace your virtual buttons Home, Recent Apps and Back. Back button needs root for the moment but soon accessible with no root for all 4.1+ devices). If you have physical buttons or want to keep your stock ones, there's an autohide option much like bar you can find on Windows, Linux, etc.
Features :
-add shortcuts to your favorite apps on the bar or in the StartMenu
-can replace your virtual buttons (optional Menu button will need root. Back button too except if you have Android 4.1+)
-music controllers to pause/go to next/previous song in any apps
-volume controllers
-lock button to minimize accidental input of your bar and soft buttons
-(Experimental)(ROOT) Fullscreen button
-access all your apps in StartMenu as well as categories such as Pictures, Music, Settings, etc.
-launch search, lock screen or shutdown(ROOT) your device from the StartMenu
-Customize the appearance of your bar and menu.
Future features:
-Folders
There's a 10days-trial version available here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stephapps.deskbar
And the license key at $2.49 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stephapps.deskbarkey
Don't hesitate to post all your questions, suggestions, or if you encounter any problem!
Hello a big update (1.2) is coming, Here's the changelog:
Change log 1.2
-added optional menu button
-added search button and power button in startMenu( lock screen, (root) shutdown/reboot )
-added new customization tab in options for deskbar, startmenu, startButton
-added default icons for first time launch
-fixed bug with icons not sizing correctly sometimes in startMenu
-added personalized shortcuts in startMenu.
-bugfixes including the ones reported.
Can't wait to see what some of you will do with the new customization options (which might be buggy for the moment, this feature is kind of beta right now) , don't hesitate to post pictures if you have some cool results!

Nice
Thanks guys,
I'm working on a white theme but I have no idea for other themes :silly:.
Hey let's have a little contest. Submit your custom theme (no copyright stuff please), and if it's selected to be inserted into the app, you'll have an unlimited trial  (similar to a paid version, I have sadly no easy way to directly give away the paid version ) and your name in the app credits of course.
What's needed:
-background for Deskbar
-background for the StartMenu
-2 images for pressed and normal StartButton states.
You might need to use 9patch for the 2 first ones.
I absolutely love this app! This is exactly what I have been looking for! If I may recommend some features for in the future, I prefer to have half of the bar so I can access my notifications, but it's difficult to reach the navigation icons in the middle. Could there be an option to have them appear under the start menu above the lock screen button? I'm also curious if the applications on the bar could be changed from shortcuts to the most recent apps. That might not be possible, but it would be a very useful feature as there already is a quick shortcut option under the start menu. Love your work and I'm excited to see the direction of this app!
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app
Hello, thanks for your nice feedback!
You're the second person to ask for the virtual buttons to be in the start menu, so I think I will try to add it soon.
For recent apps, it won't be easy to add it to the bar. In start menu it will be easier but might be less interesting.
When selecting "pictures" under the start button on my gt-p3113 and Galaxy S3 the gallery starts to open but then crashes with the message "unable to find item". This happens regardless of the default gallery I choose. Other than that id just like to say I really love this app. With ubuntu style sidebars getting a lot of attention lately I feel this needs equal if not more and I will recommend this to everyone. Keep up the great work! Also I think it would be nice if users could adjust the amount of time it takes for the bar to disappear and perhaps the option for the bar to stay until the user decides to swipe it away.
How is this uninstalled? When i deactivate from Google Play it does nothing, nor can i uninstall from apps manage?
Tried to remove this from device admin, but it doesn't appear there, so no way to uninstall
You enabled the administrative mode to allow the app to lock the screen on demand. You need to disable this lock screen feature first to be able to uninstall (as stated when you tick the option).
Beta question
is there a beta apk where some feature are in beta are tested?
if so, I would like to help test the beta version.
Very nice app, using it on my Samsung Galaxy player running Gingerbread 2.3, which has no virtual nav keys. I can't find any option in settings to disable the autohide function, so I can keep the bar on screen. Am I missing something here, or is it because the Galaxy Player doesn't actually have its own soft keys and a nav bar?
Would certainly like to purchase this app, if I can get the bar to stop autohiding.
EDIT: Well, I installed deskbar on my Touchpad and the option to disable autohide is there. So, it looks like for some reason, it doesn't show up on my Galaxy Player 4.0 running Gingerbread 2.3.
Thanks,
Mike T
Is development still going on?
I contacted the dev but didn't get any answers yet.
can't find it
The app is no longer in google play. does anyone know where I can download it?

Just a couple of little "complaints" about the phone.

First let me apologize if this is not the correct location on the forum to post this. I by am no means looking to bash the phone just had some questions that maybe some people may be able to help me with. I understand this is not Touchwiz so it is different, and these are very minor issues nothing that I could not learn to adjust to.
1) Notification drop down. Though I do like the "gesture" style notification drop down. Before I could use the finger print scanner to drop down to notification tab is there another shortcut way to make this happen similar to the finger print way on the S8+? I may be able to do in in Nova but will need to mess with it to figure it out.
2) Brightness bar. Does anyone know how to get the brightness bar to possible show up in the notification without it being pulled down all the way?
3) Home button. I can't seem to find a way to press the home button when in a full screen game app. Meaning prior I was able to press the location and then it would still work. Now I have to swipe up to show the nav bar and then press it.
4)LTE+ This is one isn't a complaint just a question about since I got the unlocked instead of Verizon it shows LTE+ vs 4G doing a quick search it seems to be ok just wanted some clarification.
Other then those few things I noticed over all I am happy the phone is a lot quick and better then my previous. Though at the same time nothing super new to really "wow" me I was already more then happy with the S8+ and the S10+ is a very good evolution. The hole punch is really not as bad as some others may have feared. The finger print does take a little time to get used to but seems to work about 85% success mostly do to slightly off placement. Having the extra cameras is great and so far a nice upgrade from my S8+. Again not really complaining but maybe there is toggle that I may have missed that could have fixed my little issues.
1. Use the swipe down gesture in nova launcher to pull it down, not as nice as FP sensor gesture i know :/
2. You can do this by checking the setting for 'Show Control on Top' when you expand the brightness control
3. If you are using the gestures for navigation you would swipe from where the home button would be if it were held in portrait, so typically on the right when gaming. just play with it.

Thanks, I actually used an an BX actions to remap the button on my S8+ decided to pay for the full feature and now I mapped it to drop down notifications so thats all set. Thanks found the control option by clicking on the arrow. As for my third the more I use both pbones it might be good to swipe up for the buttom. No more accidental presses when in full screen. So it looks like the phones grade is moving up ?. Thanks for the reply.
Pull down the notification all the way. Next to the brightness bar you will see a little down arrow, press that and there it is.

Oh, this is good to know. This is one of the reasons I switch launchers. I'm so used to swipe up anywhere for apps and down anywhere for notifications. This is even more natural to me than the fingerprint reader swipe, but of course the fingerprint reader let you do it in any app which is a big difference.
As for #4 since no one answered, the unlocked version is just being more specific. The US carriers usually replace the specific technology type (LTE, LTE+, etc) with generic "4G" branding (or 5GE if you're a jackass).
I just paid for full BXActions and I was able to remap bixby to double tap to drop the notification. Before I was happy with the free version but deff worth the extra few bucks. I can map more tap types.

Tried a few things but not the worst preamblem. Another issue I wish they could fix is vibrate when the thumbprint is accepted vs vibrate when you miss. Ehhh just little complaints. ?* getting more comfort with the phone, though at the same time curious to see the folding Razer

I've stopped using Nova because of this, since Pie Tesla Unread is very inconsistent, if they ever sort it I will go back

I just followed your lead cflip2x and paid for the full version of BXActions and it's (obviously) ideal for this phone. Struggling to attach a single tap action to the bixby button though since whatever I try only seems to activate on a double tap. I need to find the right forum to discuss that issue but it's a great app.

In Nova Beta 6.1 you don't need Tesla anymore, there is an option in the notification which uses the default Pie notification (numbered) system. Starting tomorrow Tesla won't be available on Playstore due to Google new restrictions.

Space bar problem when using gesture navigation

After the upgrade to android 10, me and all of my friends who have the S10, we 're facing the following bug:
When we use the keyboard (we tried many), if our finger stay a bit longer on the space bar, the app is exiting to the home screen. It's like the system has a home button long press gesture which is exactly on the same spot where the space bar is.
The only way to avoid the problem is to disable the gesture navigation in the navigation bar.
Is this a bug or a setting that we cannot find?
We use Nova launcher but we also tried the stock launcher and the same thing happens.
I think i understood what is happening. In android 10 the sensitivity of the navigation gestures has probably been increased. So if my finger leave the space bar quickly going up when swiping, then the system understands that i want to return to the home screen. I was using gesture navigation before the update and never had such problem. A solution that i am testing is to increase the height of the keyboard so the space bar will go a bit higher.
I have exactly the same problem, raising the keyboard height doesn't help (I'm using Gboard). The problem is that there is zero bottom margin so when you try to do the home screen gesture you are basically always pressing the space bar first. It's really annoying but I have no idea how to get around it.
My only solution was to activate "show button to hide keyboard" in the navigation bar settings. This makes a black bar appear when using the keyboard and allows you to perform the gesture without touching the spacebar. Sorry for my english.

I tried this, it works but on my phone the bar appears white and not black. I am using Nova launcher and black theme.
I've had this problem for the last 24 hours or so and it is driving me crazy.

No such issue when using Gboard. I have noticed that if the finger is too low on the spacebar of the Samsung keyboard that the system thinks you're after an app switching gesture, even though (in my case) I've set the keyboard for cursor control on spacebar hold.

You are probably right. With Gboard there seems to be no issue.
I use Gboard exclusively so it is definitely susceptible to this bug. I've tried clearing app cache and data, wiping cache partition, uninstalling and factory resetting. All multiple times.
Having the same issue with the stock keyboard as well.
I have that problem as well with Swiftkey and its very annoying.
Not sure if it's related, but do any of you have the issue of having to swipe twice to activate the navigation gestures when using full-screen apps? (swipe once shows the top status bar and gesture hints if enabled, second swipe to actually execute the gesture.)
Seems like it's an issue that is only affecting some people, could be the same issue?
It has nothing to do with the setup, it is happening to most people with Android 10 that use the 3 bars nav gesture (dunno about the new Android 10 gesture tho). It is happening with any keyboard (I've checked with stock, SwiftKey and Gboard) and there are TWO things that usually happen:
1. you are pressing spacebar on the keyb and the tap is not registered resulting in "no space" typed so your words are linked
2. you're sent to the home screen as the spacebar tap registers as a send-to-home gesture (the middle of the 3 gesture bars)
Both are extremely frustrating, the first one is not even noticeable most of the times if you're fast at typing as the screen remains in the app so you don't notice it unless you read again your text. For me it's almost every time happening to notice AFTER I have sent the message. The second case it's frustrating as it's interrupts your typing and you have to open again the app or switch to it via the task switcher.
Only way to somehow minimize the issue is by raising the SwiftKey above that gesture area (you can reposition it from the resize menu)
workaround - gboard
My work around for this on my S10 is to use gboard in "one handed mode" and then reposition it higher so the spacebar doesn't overlap with the gesture area.

Not sure if it's related, but do any of you have the issue of having to swipe twice to activate the navigation gestures when using full-screen apps? (swipe once shows the top status bar and gesture hints if enabled, second swipe to actually execute the gesture.)

This is by design I believe, to avoid exiting fullscreen apps by mistake
in MIUI its called gesture confirmation and applies only when using fullscreen

How To Guide "Immersive" mode on MIUI 13 - Hide your status bar!

Hello all, I know I've personally missed Immersive mode as it helps me stress out less about burn-in. Hopefully someone else finds this workaround useful!
What this tutorial will do:
Allow you to simulate status bar immersive mode on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra on any app.
The status bar will be hidden unless dragged down, in which case it will display momentarily
Your camera notch will be completely ignored in apps – meaning that, as far as I am aware of, there is no way to get apps to avoid that small circle – you may find this annoying
Exclude certain apps from acting in immersive mode
Help preserve your Mi 11’s OLED screen by not having status bar elements constantly at the top of the screen.
Caveats:
This is not like traditional immersive mode in that you cannot toggle it on/off with a quicksettings tile, pie control, etc. You’re basically going to want to switch it on for applicable apps & leave it on.
You have to enable the appropriate settings to any new apps you install.
I have only tried this on my phone, which is a Chinese Mi 11 Ultra using the Xiaomi.EU ROM, MIUI version 13.0.12 stable.
Requires Lsposed/Magisk root, so you may have issues with google pay, bank apps, etc.
I am not responsible for any issues you have, including but not limited to: Glitches, bugs, your alarm failing, you finding the punchhole ugly, you losing your job, your phone spontaneously combusting, your partner leaving you, nuclear war, etc.
I do not know if any other Magisk/Lsposed modules will affect this. I currently use GravityBox and WooBox, & Greenify (donation) & have no issues.
Prerequisites:
Must be rooted with Magisk
Must have Lsposed installed
Instructions:
Install the Magisk Module, called “AOSP Mods”. Install the Magisk version. I do not know if the Lsposed-only version will work. I used the canary build (canary-123, as of 8/30/2022)
Link: https://github.com/siavash79/AOSPMods
Install WeiJu, but NOT the publicly available one from 2020 on GitHub, but the one available on this thread post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-adb-shell-or-terminal.4434725/#post-86809981
Enable the AOSP Mods module in Magisk
Enable the AOSP Mods module in Lsposed & ensure “System UI” is enabled. You can keep “System Framework” & “Phone services” enabled if they are by default, but I haven’t noticed a difference when switching them off (yet) – it may have to do with other functionalities within AOSP Mods.
Enable the Weiju module in Lsposed
In Lsposed, select EVERY app that you want to be in immersive mode
Reboot your phone.
Open Weiju
Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner
Tap “Template”
Tap “Config Template”
Tap Status Bar
Tap “Open”
Tap the checkbox next to “Hide”
Tap the back button.
Optional: Open “Navigation bar” & repeat steps 13-15. I personally use GravityBox for this, so I find this unnecessary, but if you don’t want to install GravityBox, this is another option. It is also available in AOSP Mods as a universal option, so again, I don’t recommend doing it this way, but it’s ultimately up to you.
Tap the back button
Check “Auto apply template”
Tap the back button 2 times
Tap the “select app” button
Add EVERY app you want to be in “immersive” mode (yes, again)
Open the AOSP Mods app
Tap “Status Bar”
Tap “Miscellaneous”
Switch “Ignore the camera cutout” to On
Tap the back button
Tap “Status Bar”
Scroll down to “Statusbar Padding”
Pull down your notification shade & make sure Auto-rotate is set to on.
Slide the left slider to the right a bit (I recommend 7.5, but YMMV)
Tilt your phone until it switches to landscape mode, then tilt it back to portrait
Check your notification icons & make sure you can see them all & they aren’t cut off (unless you want them to be?). The slider gives the notification bar a margin so that notifications don’t disappear behind the camera cutout.
Reboot one last ime
You’re done! Remember, if you want to enable or disable this “immersive” mode on any apps, including new ones you install, go to both the Weiju module settings in Lsposed, and in the Weiju app itself, and enable/disable said apps.
If you have any questions, feel free to respond. I’ll try to help you, but I’m pretty busy in my personal life & I’m no programmer, just an android enthusiast who stumbled upon a fix from being too stubborn to give up on my OLED screen.
Also if you are just worried about status bar burn in or just to hide it except on pull down, you could use nova launcher and select hide status bar.

I use Nova Launcher, and I did on my OnePlus 7 Pro as well & used the "hide status bar" on Nova, but still got burn in from when my status bar would be visible on other apps - but I didn't on my navbar since I used/use Pie Controls.
I eventually started using immersive mode on that phone, but by then it was too late. Granted I used that phone for a little over 3 years & I needed a new phone anyway so it is what it is, just had to deal with that ugliness for a while.
This is on a new level entirely - it makes the status bar hidden until you pull it down on every app (unless you make exceptions).
In fact, this even frees up the extra 1/2cm that the statusbar takes up on Nova Launcher with hidden status bar enabled, as seen below:

Was working perfectly till I updated to miui 14 A14 EU rom.
Any options now ?
