Hidden Dialer Menu Passwd - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Remember when owning a Samsung device, and you needed your MSL to edit anything using the Dialer Hidden Menu? Well for the hell of it I tried on My Sprint z2 force. I choose APN>Edit. When it asked for a passwd, all I entered was 0000 and it worked.. Just thought I pass this along just in case, anyone tried with no luck.

Numerical pass code for lock screen?

Hi everyone...
I have seen some vids on youtube, etc that show what appears to be the standard Galaxy S lockscreen but once swiped or patterned it brings up a numerical password for extra security.
I cant find the option for this in the menu and im wondering id this is an add on or a seperate app altogether?
Does anyone know where I can get this or how I can access this option?
Please advise... Thx.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Can no one here help me or give me advice on this?
not quite sure but could it be they use swipe or pattern + SIM pin?
this is a setting in settings >location and security> change screen lock : choose pin lock method.

My options in settings> Loaction and Security does not have an option for a "pin lock" method only the standard "swype the glass" and the "pattern" lock.
Am I missing something here? I am on Bell in Canada and my phone is an i9000M model... Not sure if that should matter though...
Anyone else?
try pattern lock, I think that is what you mean.

No... Thats not it either. The pattern lock is my lock of choice and I am using it as we speak but once I enter the pattern it just goes directly to the home screen in the phone.
What I am looking for is after I enter the pattern or swype the glass (if that is the lock I am using) for it to take me to a "next screen" that asks me for a password.
I have seen this as mentioned in youtube videos, etc but I have no idea what it is. Is it an app? Is it the SIM Lock screen as someone above mentioned?
Anyone else have any idea?
PS. If it is the SIM Lock thing... I tried to set my SIM lock code and it is asking me for the existing passcode which I do not know. Does anyone know if it is the last 4 digits of your phone number or something?
Please advise...

I'm also curious about that too. I've tried a couple of times and I now know that it's not 0000 or 1234...I still have 3 tries though. btw, I'm also using the i9000m.

no idea what you are talking about, only thing that is somewhat similar to what you want, is when you shut the phone of and turn it on and then enter pin code...

Here is a weblink. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY2AsoVRywk you will see that he has something that comes up as "PIN-Code" right after his lock screen.
I am not sure if this is the SIM lock code or what it is but that is the idea that Id like to have for mine. Kind of like the iphone "slide to unlock" but without the gay "slide to unlock" part.
EDIT> Upon further inspection... It DOES seem to be the SIM lock screen after all but firstly, How do you activate this? Secondly Why does his screen look so much different than mine? And thirdly, I tried to activate my SIM lock code and it asked me to enter it and I tried but it was wrong and I do not know th original code so I can change it.
Does anyone know how?

Right... But as I asked in my previous post... HOW do you activate this screen? I have tried and my phone asks me to enter the code already but I do NOT know the existing code and I only have 2 tries left or something like that.
Does anyone know what the ORIGINAL code would be so it can be changed? Is it the last 4 digits of your phone number?

the original code if you havnt changed it, should be with the papers you got for your simcard.
no it is not the last 4 numbers of your phone number.
and you activate it at settings> place and security, configure sim-card lock

The default SIM lock pin code on my Bell i9000m was 1111. After speaking to a Bell rep over the phone for an hour, I found this out ... a whole hour!
He said it's either 1111 or 2222 for these phones.
strange! here in germany one gets a letter with the sim card. this has nothing to do with the phone. you decide with provider you want to use and make a contract. with the letter from that provider you get the sim and the PIN and a PUK.

When I got my phone from Bell, the SIM was already in the phone and there was no supporting documentation from them with the SIM PIN code. I had to call them up to get it. However it is possible to get the PUK codes from the Bell website once you have an online account.
Hello everyone!
What you saw on youtube is the PIN for the simCard. If you want to go thrugh the hassle of having to key that info everytime, go ahead and do the following:
On your SGS, select Settings
On the Sttings page, select Location and Security
Scroll down to third grey bar! THere you'll see SIM card lock
Select the Set up SIM card lock feature and you are done!
Good luck!

Need Help Badly : My Phone is LOCKED

I use pattern to unlock my Galaxy S, but my son played with my phone and accidentally input too many patterns and make my phone only can be unlocked by signing into google account.
I typed my correct gmail user name and password, but still can't sign in and unlock the phone. I am also using APN ON/OFF application, and the APN status is OFF. I am thinking maybe it makes my phone unable to connect to the Internet and sign in to gmail.
Is there anyone know how to solve this problem without resetting the phone into factory default? And if I need to factory reset my phone, how can I do it because the 3 button combination is not working with my Galaxy S?
I'll be grateful if there is someone who can help
Many people have had this issue to some extend, most of them simply reflash the phone since that fixes it.
I remember someone wrote that you somehow could bypass it, sadly cant seem to locate the post anymore.

Try to put your gmail login info from all different gmail account you have.
Also try this. Take out battery>wait for 3 hours > but the battery back > press power button for 20 seconds (This method was listed by one guy on other forum).
One guy also mentioned this method.
AGAIN ITS the lamest thing you could ever think of, anyway heres how it goes,
1) Log in to your google account on your pc, the same account you registered for your phone
2) After logging in look at the top right corner of your inbox/email page, it would say your google username. Like say if you name is John, and you have a google id thats registered to your galaxy s as ,[email protected] Now this google id on the top right corner of the page would be displayed [email protected]
3) Type in the google id, thats visible on the right hand top corner of your page ([email protected]) into your galaxy s handset locked page, and type in the password.
TADA AND YOUR ON TO THE NEW SCREEN TELLING YOU TO PUT IN ANOTHER PATTERN.
Thanks
Zoh
If you cant login by computer then go here

EDIT: you can also try this (very helpful to lot of ppl with the same problem) http://www.docstoc.com/docs/39761478...d---Locked-Out
Any way try all the methods and let me know if it works...BEST OF LUCK

this solution is with thanks to another person on another site...
You need a WiFi connection available for this to work!
1) Call your phone from a different phone.
2) Answer the call. While still connected...
3) Hit the BACK button on the phone (the arrow softkey)
4)This takes you to the home screen (it might take a few attempts, it depends on your timing. It took me 4 attempts)
5)Drag down your notifications bar and turn the WiFi on if it isn't already.
6)Close the notifications bar then hit the MENU softkey, select Settings then "Accounts and sync".
7)Click "Add Account" and select Google.
8)Sign up for a new google account as normal.
9)When the signup process is complete (and it must successfully create an account) you can hang up the call. (Do not sync the accounts)
10)Now when the phone asks you to unlock it using google credentials, use the ones from the account you just created. It will now ask you for a new security pattern, then for the same pattern again to verify.
11)Once you are back into the phone, turn off this "feature" until Google release a fix for the bug.
12)You can now delete the "false" google account which you just created from the phone. You should log into google and delete it from there too really.
13)Now reboot your phone. When the phone starts up and it still says "Phone Locked" don't panic!, Just drag the screen out of the way to unlock the phone, just like you did before you activated the pattern security.

Can't enable alternate keyboards

Hi,
I've been trying to get an alternate keyboard working on my stock Gtab, but can't. I know that I can't enable it via settings, so I copied the APk to /system/app and rebooted, but still no luck.
I tried a bunch of different ones, and all don't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jim
Got Ultra keyboard working on stock, kind of
Hi,
No one has responded, but I've been focussing on trying to get Ultra working.
Some things I tried:
- Install from market - No setting to enable it, long press doesn't cause input selection
- I found some comments that problem was because of stock TNT Settings.apk and SettingProvider.apk, so I found some Android apks, and replaced them. - I then got the enable in Settings, but still no input selection when long press on a text box
- I then moved the /data/app/com.binarybulge...apk file to /system/app, and rebooted - Then, in Settings, the enable was gone ...
- I accidentally pressed on Ultra in Myapps on the new market, and a screen with 3 buttons appeared, including a question mark/help button. I clicked on that, which brought up a help doc, and in there, there was a link to open the input selection! I clicked that, got the selection, and selected Ultra. After that, long press still doesn't bring up input selection, but Ultra pops up when I click on any text box,
So, at this point I can use Ultra, but only Ultra (no input selection on long press).
I'm about ready to go back to the TNT Settins apks, but if anyone has any idea why I can't get the log press to invoke input selection, PLEEASE, let me know. Maybe there's some other Android apk that's needed?
Jim
I would like to use the gingerbread or swiftkey keyboards but am having the same issue disabling the TnT keyboard so I can select an alternate.

Hi,
Understandable ...
But, I've been continuing to work on it, and I think I'm close to a workable solution, at least for me.
If you look at my last post above, you'll note that I can use alternate keyboards now, but the long press thing on a text box doesn't work. I don't quite understand why yet, because that behavior seems like it's suppose to be embedded in Android, since maybe 1.6 or so.
Anyway, so I'm trying to write a small Android app that will cause the input method selection menu to pop up. I just got that working, but I've hacked a few things like the Settings/SettingsProvider apks earlier, so I want to go back and re-do things to see what works vs. doesn't work.
Once I get all that done, and it hopefully works, I'll post info and my app/apk.
Jim
P.S. Reminder: This messiness is apparently only with TNT/TNT lite, as the other NON-TNT firmware works "normally" (enable in Settings then long press in text box).
I am sure you already tried this but I will say it just in case
Did you tried going to "settings" - "language & keyboard" - find the keyboard your using and enable it by the checkbox on the right?
then you go to any text input box like the market search box and long press to get the "input method" option.

That doesn't work like that in stock TNT .
After install, you can't enable it in stock Settings. Also, even when I switched to vanilla Android Settings, which allowed enabling, long press on text box doesn't bring up input method selection.
Jim
Anyone come up with a solution? I still cannot use an alternate keyboard within TnTLite 3.0.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
Long press isnt working with TnTlite 3.0. Look at the last item in the changelog.
1. Root it
2. Load Vegan ROM (comes with Android 2.3 keyboard)
3. After loading an alternate Keyboard (I like SwiftKey) & enabling in settings, select input method as you normally do in Android.
Hi,
I think that my small app is working, at least on my Gtab, but I'd like to get a couple of people to test it, and then if it's ok, I'll post it as an attachment.
It'll come as an apk, that you just install. When you click on the app, it causes the input selection menu to pop up.
If anyone is interested, pls pm me.

Jim
Here is what I did.
installed the app you sent
installed free ultra keyboard
reboot the gtab
went to settings just to confirm that alternate keyboard entry does exist but can't be selected
Long pressing any text box brings pop-up with two entries 1. Edit text 2. Input method. Selecting input method just shows tnt keyboard entry and not the alternate ultra keyboard
So I would say it is not working out for me...or I am missing something...let me know if you want me to try something else
Oh...I just realized that your app might only work on stock UI and not on tnt. 2.0...is that the case?
Kibana,
I think there are a couple of things/problems that we're dealing with here, including some stuff that I don't understand 100%, but let me try...
My understanding is that the problems with keyboards is only with TNT or any TNT derivatives. Since you're on TNT lite, I'd expect your system to behave similar to mine, with respect to this.
First of all, not being able to enable (in your case) Ultra keyboard, in Settings. Actually, if your system works like mine, you can check the radiobutton, but it doesn't "stick". From searching, my understanding is that is because thy TNT Settings or SettingsProvider apks are missing something that is not missing from the standard Android Settings.
I know this for sure, because I found another Settings/SettingsProvider apk set, that does make the keyboard setting stick.
I don't know if that matters now on my system, because even after I switched back to the original apks, I can install new keyboards, even tho I can't check the button in Settings.
Second, I had seen info that when you install a keyboard, they got put into /data/app, but needed to be in /system/AOL, instead.
In my case, I did that (copied the keyboard apk from /data/app to /system/app), BUT, I am not 100% sure that is needed. The reason I say that is I can install (for example) the ultra apk now, and without moving files, if I click on InputPicker, I will get the popup that let's me choose a keyboard, including ultra.
Third, I think that I forgot to say: AFTER you install InputPicker.apk, you need to click on the InputPicker icon and this will force the input selection menu to popup.
In other words, anytime you want to select a keyboard, click on the icon. Once you select a keyboard, your choice should stick until you force a selection again.
So, did you click on the InputPicker apparently icon after the installation was done?
Sorry for the long post, but even for something so trivial, there's a lot of moving parts to this !
Jim
kibana,
I did another set of tests. This is with the original TNT Settings apk.
I installed two more keyboards from market (slideit and swiftkey).
As you have, they appear in Settings, but I can't enable them.
When I ran InputPicker, only the 2 original keyboards appeared, even after reboot.
Ok, then I copied the apks (com.dasur.slideit... and com.touchtype...) from /data/app to /system/app, and then rebooted.
Then I ran InputPicker, and VOILA, i GOT ALL KEYBOARDS.
So, to summarize, in your case, I think you need to copy the com.binarybulge... apk from /data/app to /system/app. Make sure the permissions are ok, rw-r--r--, then reboot.
If I'm understanding your post, you already get the popup when you long press in a text box, so you shouldn't need my InputPicker app.
I wrote the app because on my Gtab, running stock TNT, I don't get the popup when I long press.

LG Revolution Service Codes

Not sure if this has been posted before, but for reference, here's two lovely commands for your Revo4g.
Please note! Not all of the commands in the menus are safe-- in fact, just plain ol assume that these menus can totally mess up your phone in a way not even LG understands.

With that said, here they are.

When prompted for a code, just enter zeroes until the dialogue box goes away. I didn't count how many...
I still need to finish analyzing the apps, but it looks like one could possibly enable some 'features' (*cough* tethering) if one pressed buttons in the correct order leading to a DUN MIP change
Good luck! Don't brick your device!

there is Enable "Admin Data".....what could that be?
EDIT: Just a thought, does this have anything to do with the "Device Admin Settings" shortcut you can add with a long press on a homescreen?

Verizon's decision to disable secret dialpad codes got me into trouble

I actually wrote a blog post about the ordeal I went through all because Verizon decided to disable secret codes like the *#0*# that people can use to check things like sensors. WTF Verizon? I also wrote on how to fix it once rooted. I can now use secret codes but one thing I noticed is that when I get into the sensors menu and I want to go back to touchwhiz desktop, it doesn't go, it takes a while of pressing home or back buttons.
