Battery issue while in idle - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello everyone have been struggling with my Huawei p20 pros battery while sleeping at it worse it can drop up to 50% but it's mostly around 30% in about 5-7hours. I make sure that every app is killed before I go to sleep and no one seem to find the issue been sending it in to the service guys on my mobile carrier. Also almost all of my apps is on manual setting and therefore turned off. Not sure how to upload picture here so if anyone can teach me how I can provide it to you guys.

I would try this phone in safe mode if I where you. Then see if it drains this much, when the phone is in safe mode you disable all 3:rd party apps. In that way you may bee able to determine if it's a phone problem or a app.
Safe mode:
Press Volume down repeatedly after powering up until you see the message "safe mode" appearing in the bottom left corner.

Thank you I will try it

I tried this on my phone and in about 17 hours it lost about 8%. So around 0.5%/hour in standby with network, WiFi and Bluetooth on.
My phone doesn't drain as much as yours, mine takes about 1%/hour in standby

Tried it for 50 minutes and it dropped 4% so I would assume something is definitely wrong with the phone.

battery swap and date lost

Hello
when I'm out all day it could happen I have to put a secondary battery. When I do this (I have to wait a few seconds after powering off and removing the empty one to clear the battery stats otherwise the new one carries the old percentage) and I start the phone the date is reset to Jan 2007 1 AM and changes back to the correct one after a few seconds (because of automatic date feature). The problem is that in the meanwhile some apps/services that start get the fake date and this messes things up. For example if I receive offline Viber messages they go as "received in 2007" or I lose all the stats of Internet usage for the day from 3g watchdog.
Is this a normal behavior? I'm ALMOST sure this wasn't happening months ago. Is the phone supposed to lose the date when you remove a battery?
I think that is normal. When the battery loses a lot of power somehow the phone is unable to keep time and date.

On the contrary it is not normal...maybe the little internal battery that feeds the clock is discharged...it is like the battery of PC motherboards
Accidentally thanked you

are you sure about this? could you try if it happens to you too? just remove the battery for 10seconds and see what happens

It happens exactly the same.
Wrong time and date and after some time it gets corrected.

Its usual if you are replacing it to quick then it will remain otherwise if swapping takes a little time settings will be lost

OK thanks. problem is that if i replace it quickly the charged battery will carry a wrong percentage
Have you tried deleting batterystats.bin when you change the battery?
I have no idea, but you can try if it works..
i tried but it usally makes no difference. the only way to actually get the correct percentage is to lose the date. I wish there was some other way to swap batteries without having these problems

turn wifi off during sleep

There's an option for how wifi behaves during sleep. How does this function and how much battery life does it improve by turning it off? I currently have it set to wifi always on during sleep (default). If I set it to never, does it literally turn off wifi when the screen is off and turn it back on when I unlock the phone? Is it completely off with no connection at all, or is it like the HTC One X where notifications and stuff are slow and delayed?
it turns Wi-Fi off about 3 minutes after the screen goes off and uses 3g for notifications and other stuff, that's why it says it might increase data usage

Thanks. I'm just gonna leave it on always and manually turn off wifi myself. Seems buggy and doesn't know how to turn back on half the time when I unlock the phone. Turning on wifi manually while it is set to never during sleep also doesn't turn wifi on. Buggy.

Unbelivable battery drain!

I have my LG 4X for about 3 months!Everything was great until today.I charged it this afternoon and now, after 7h10min it`s on 50%! WTF? I didn`t use him at al! Maybe 5 min of internet..In 20.00h i went for practice and left it at 74%, killed Wifi and when I got back at 21.55h it was at 54% and it`s still dramatically dropping! Is the battery dead? Help!
P.S. From 7h23min of battery it was 7h13min on stand by..46%..

The charger usb cable not touching all the pins. Try to clean usb port

Sometimes after charging the phone I notice high drain after 3 hours it is as low as 50%. I checked with cpuspy that the phone wasn't going to deep sleep at all, it remained at 475MHz when the screen was off.
This has happened to me twice.
Only solution I found was reboot.
Hope it helps

How do I do reboot?
Press power button down and select the reboot option.
I thought there was a reboot app...
I did that and now it seams stable..It "stuck" on 27% for about an hour with WiFi on..Wow,it gave me a little scare..I hope this will solve the problem for good!
If you installed Chrome at some point, you might want to find the option to turn gps-positioning off as well. Not sure if it's been fixed in a later release, but on the previous version the api prevented the processor from idling, and never turned the gps-antenna off again after use.
It's most likely an app is causing that drain, try installing BetterBatteryStats...

how can we know which app is forcing the phone to does not enter deep sleep mode? i installed cpu spy and note that deep sleep mode is not being used by my phone since yesterday, but ysterday i rooted and installed all my root required apps, but i don't know which is avoiding deep sleep mode.
I just turn on the phone after full charge, and in 10 minutes battery had drained was about 7% and the phone is warm, obviously something is running on background or something, i closed all apps that I know and used Greenify to stop background apps and now i close all google+ apps, i will measure again

i solved my problem, it was caused by the google+ app, I just logged out and the phone can enter in deep sleep mode again...

Lolz, you need to give somemore information
1. Did you root your phone? which firmware are you using? if you are rooted did you do factory reset?
2. did you do anything related to flashing JB, unlocking bootloader, etc or anything that happened recently to LG 4X.
3. what app did you download or updated 1-2 days before this?

heavy standby battery drain

hi
i'm not sure but i think my note 5 is draining abnormally during standby, yesterday i slept at 12 am my battery was 95% then i woke up at 8 and my battery was 60%, is this normal for 8 hours standby?
i noticed that under "android os" stay awake was 5h 39m 32s, could this be the cause?
That is absolutely the cause. Something is holding your phone awake. I would reboot into recovery (turn off phone, hold vol up+home button+power button) and wipe cache and reboot. See if that helps it.

I lose about 1% for every 2 hours overnight. Your usage is not normal at all.
i did it, but still the same issue

Then it must be one of your apps that you have installed holding phone awake. If you can't find out which app it is then i would do a factory reset. That is definitely not normal.

i have tried "wakelock detector" and i found that "google play services" is waking up the CPU a lot during standby and causing this issue, then i searched the issue on google and i found that it is a common issue on Lollipop but i couldn't get the proper fix for it

You could try searching for the latest Google play services apk and install it to see that helps. Also then off always allow scanning in WiFi settings and turn location reporting off.

Mine drains like 2% per hour in standby. And I dont know what the phone is doing.
I know this isn't a solution to your problem, just some extra advice. Make sure you turn VoLTE and Wifi Calling off. Cell Standby is my number one battery drain when screen is off.
I have the same problem with stock kernel. I tried to flash all stock firmware but nothing, same problem. Solve only with arter97 o nobel kernel.

Well even mine is on stock N920C firmware.
Draining alot overnight, I barely have any apps installed.
Android System is using battery not deep sleeping. I tried Package Disabler PRO still same thing.
Any solution?

mine is same model, Im in UAE as well, i think the solution is either to root the device and try the arter97 kernel or wait for an official update from Samsung

Well actually i have the N920CD dual sim. The 920C works fine minus the drain.
Trying kernels makes me lose the dual sim option which sucks!
And loosing the warranty as well!!
i have done something yesterday night, i switched off WiFi and Mobile data and i slept with 72% battery, then i woke up 7 hours later and battery was 71%!!!, so only 1% consumed, so i think the issue should be something related to either WiFi or mobile data.
do you have xposed? if so download the module call mobilestandbyfix
My phone with stock rom does that too!
I've heard the update was full of bugs and drains battery a lot!
Whenever I try to look at the cause there was Android Os!
90% to 50% power left if unused.
I did a factory reset and got fix!
Try factory reset that does helps.
About google play services it never let my phone to run smooth just eats ram alot!
I always uninstalled when not in use

Im not rooted and i did once factory reset but it didnt help, maybe i will try it one more time
Why dont you root your device
Get greenify pro ,allow root permission ,hibernate the cause of cpu wakeups !
I did hibernated some system apps and trust me i've got amazing power backup!
Some system apps keep wakeup your cpu and screen in background result in battery drain.
Hope that helps
