XLOADER Checking tool (check xloader in update.zip BLA+ALP) + BLA-L29C432B147 - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Update warning: if you are on a 02 xloader now (BLA-L29C432B146, B147, B148) do not flash B148-SP1, it's 01.
Same for ALP-L09C432B148-SP1
I would advice to not install BLA-L29C432B147.
It has the same XLOADER changes as the other ones for C636 that bricks your device if you update/downgrade/rebrand from the affected firmware.
Meaning you won't brick if you install B147, but will (most likely) when you update/downgrade/rebrand from it.
Edit:
It's confirmed that you can go 02 XLOADER to 02 XLOADER (C432B147 and the new C432B146 use 02 XLOADER), but not back (B145 uses 01 XLOADER).
So no more downgrading to a 01 XLOADER.
XLOADER checking tool:
Here's a tool to check XLOADER 01 or 02. You can use it to check xloader of any firmware, Mate 10/Pro. It should work for other models too that has 01/02 on those offsets but for Mate 9 it has 00.
https://mega.nz/#!If5VRBTZ!vH4bCsujUhbKEbxT3_pfxm8jR-UsCbezIA5b8in5F6w
Extract, put update.zip in 'check' folder, run check.bat. Wait for output.
Using FullOTA Update.zip takes a while as it has to extract the full update.app.
If it reports errors make sure the path to the script is not over 200 characters and that it doesn't contain spaces. Best is to extract directly to C:
If you are rooted can also dump your own xloader if you want to see what you're currently on.
Download Terminal Emulator from the play store and open it
Type the following
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/sda of=/sdcard/xloader.img
You can now transfer /sdcard/xloader.img to your computer and check it manually using, for example, HxD.
The first affected offset is at 1A8, its either 01 or 02.
Using Mankindtws HWOTA cygwin folder/repack script as base.
Using Splitupdate perl script https://github.com/marcominetti/split_updata.pl/tree/f5f415262be3487de28321b49dcb69d947897bf1
Using Perl2exe so you don't have to install perl.
Using xxd line by @Atarii

Most likely, yes! That was the case with other regions.

does that happen only if u upgrade from 147 using a method other than OTA or will it happen with OTA too??

Just avoid that B147 from Firmware Finder, doesn't worth the risk.
P.S. That firmware is fir C432, so yes, you are risking if you update with that B147 firmware.

I install b147 and then downgrade to b145. Now i can throw my phone to trash
No reaction for fastboot, download mode, adb wont see the phone.
When i connect to usb its only voice and nothing happends.
Is there a way to turn back phone to live?

No way to recover from that, only to ask a replacement from Huawei.

If the firmware isn't listed on funkyhuawei I'd always be suspicious why... I don't have any credits but if they provide it it is tested and safe...always good to look out for

AFAIK they also had such a firmware (for 636 iirc), so i wouldn't bet on that safety.

Hello,
I also made this update yesterday ... (HWOTA8)
so if I understood everything correctly, when will I update with the next my mate 10Pro will be brick?
Even through the HWOTA8 method

It takes some time before Funky pushes the firmware out... The B145 was about 4 days late.

That why don't recommend other form of uodsting other than waiting for the OTA.
It's widely known that some builds never get signed because it contains bugs or because it was never meant to be released.... So you update at your own risk.

That's the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time bro. You mess around with your phone not knowing the risks and messed up. Now you try make someone else responsible for it. That is a bad personal characteristic.
You better off selling it now on eBay and **** someone else over for your mistake. Lol
I understand why Huawei is trying to disable bootloader unlocking. People like this guy probably message them every day and tell bad things about their phones when it is their own fault.

.B147 is the most newer, next it will be an emui 8.1 release and i hope it will be with new xloader so it will stop to brick everything

I updated to 147 too. If I try to downgrade I will brick the phone. What if I wait and try to update to the next firmware, after 147? I have to wait.
Le. What happen if I try to write the same 147? Brick also?

[Q] About Huawei P7-L11

Hi
i purchased p7 while ago and then while i search in the internet i find that there is many models of p7 and mine was p7-l11 and it's australian model but i'm not from australia
so this model seems that it doesn't receive any updates and it's still on EMUI 2.3 and probably will not get lolipop update also
is there a way to make it like global model (p7-l10 ) by install another ROM or something ? so it can receive the updates normally
thanks and sorry for my english.

You can flash the latest version manually, but I can't guarantee that you won't damage your device.
I think not much can go wrong as long as you don't change the kernel and have a backup of your current build (use CWM recovery > backup).

Probably only the CUST partition is different, but alas, there is no information whatsoever. If I'm not mistaken the Asian versions have the same hardware, so the number after the L should only mean that it's for another region, and that's all. There are a few ROMs made for the L01 here on the forum, and they are working on the L10, and vica versa. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't create hardware malfunction, so even if the software is buggy on the other variant if you have a backup, you can always flash the original.
First i would check if you have an unlocked bootloader .
When not unlock it by rooting with root genius.
The Kernel is for all models the same .
The different is the system , modem and cust partition.
So when you have one sim slot and one micro SD slot you can try it with the L-10 Software when you have dual-sim you have to try the China devices Software (L-5/7/9/0)
But i would recommend to flash a full update and not only the system partition
But flashing these Software from one on the other should not damege the device ..
But when you do this this youre deal, so don't blame me if something goes wrong...

If think your best bet is to ipdate with the three button method with the original bootloader and recovery. Download the full B609 ROM from here (click on Letöltés), put it in /sdcard0/dload (or on the SD card, doesn't matter), and update either through the system menu or by holding down all three buttons when booting. In case anything goes wrong (which it shouldn't), you can use the same method with the L11's ROM to downgrade.

Updating to the official ROMs is easy since there is a force update option. In your case it will still work and most likely will not cause any harm.
But now that I think of it, if you want to make a backup, you're out of luck. Well, mostly.
If you'd like to create a backup, you'd have to
unlock bootloader / flash an unlocked bootloader
flash recovery
backup your current ROM
All of the above can be done but you cannot flash a B609 ROM on top of a B133 base - you'd have to update with the recovery and bootloader you just lost to make a backup. If you don't have the original ROM's files, you cannot go back if anything goes wrong.
To sum it up:
you can easily update
you (probably) cannot make a backup
Decide for yourself it it's worth the minimal risk.

Well, since the L11's number seems to come from only being sold in Australia, and no hardware differences, the update should go without a hitch. But we can never know since nobody reported anything about it.
Now, just to be clear - L10 users have flashed L01 custom ROMs, and there seems to be no problems apart from the ROMs' bugs.
My opinion is that there will be no problems, but I am no expert as I have never heard of the L11 variant.

Ah, didn't think about the CUST partition - but yes, this is probably the only difference between the submodels. I you want to make sure you can return, see if your L11 has an update.app for the CUST partition. I remember distantly flashing these when upgrading to B602 (the beta of 4.4) and now when updating to the Lollipo beta.

Yes, the second one seems to me like a complete package. Don't know how to unpack the update.app, so we can't be sure. There is a thread though with an almighty CUST partition, that might help you - also, if you change the CUST, you can surely flash the ROM that' bund to your new CUST - so I think if you flash the international CUST with the international 4.4 ROM, then you can go back to the international B133 if aníthing goes wrong. Make sure you make a note of everything in your system information menu before doing anything.

Yes, you should first update to B133. Don't really know if it is necessary, mind you - but since that's the way he did it, I wouldn't wander off a beaten path The second step he makes is the update.app that modifies the CUST partition. If you flash that, I bet you can always roll back to B133 in the same thread.

After 5 days i finally managed to fix the phone...
I contacted Huawei, they checked by ID and IMEI what is latest firmware (B126).
I also found new link with newer firmwares, where i downloaded B126 and flashed update.APP by DC-Phonenix, it didn't work at first but then i extracted .APP to .IMG files, flashed that way rebooted and it booted up. In settings i still have firmware showing as B110 for some reason, but everything works so i'm happy.

NEM-L51C432 (EU variant) - Huawei Firmware Finder not finding any file

Hi everyone !
I just wanted to check on HFF if there were new updates available, but nothing came up. I mean, not even the ones I already installed ; the firmware list is empty.
I tried reinstalling the app, but the result is the same.
What the hell ? How are we supposed to find official firmwares now ? Is this a bug or something ? I read something about Huawei not sharing their firmwares anymore a while ago, but I'm pretty sure the article also said Honor wasn't concerned.
yeah wont work for me either
Doesn't work for me either, currently on L51C432b350

Aww, too bad. Do you happen to know where to get the firmware? - And by the way, do you think that using WAS-LX2JC719B185 should work too? It's kind of using the update or not, I guess?
I tried extracting the recovery and recovery2 and flashed both, but still wasn't able to use the update.app. Installation always fails at 5%. Is the folder structure /dload/update.app correct, or do I need anything else? - Like, relocking or something.
It would be really helpful if you knew that.

Already pressed the button, but I still have to speak it out: Thank you so much! You really saved my phone.
It was going more and more crazy. Permission issues over permission issues. In the end I couldn't even make or receive calls or SMS.
Thanks man! :good:

By the way, The APN is jcommobile.jp, but my provider is uqmobile.jp. I tried adding a new APN, but it doesn't show up in the list. Any idea how to fix that? Guess I can go to UQmobile and ask them... >_>
EDIT: Got it working by restaring + deactivating all network + reset of network.
EDIT2: Well, that was too early. I can enter almost all data and save it, but when I enter the APN, then it just vanishes. I think it should be selected, because jcommobile is not selected and I still got network + phone...

Got a XZ1c but I have a bit of a problem

I've recently purchased an XZ1c since my old z3c was basically falling apart at this point. (Would have kept it if the repair guy didn't royally screw things up.)
The phone is practically untouched physically and has been great for the past two weeks... It was when I tried taking pictures that I've noticed my first problem.
Green pictures had to reboot to see if the bootloader was unlocked and to my chagrin, the previous owner never told me they had unlocked the phone in the first place and didn't even know about DRM keys so those are lost.
I've rooted my old z3c before a long time ago and it was painless. Now with this phone, I'm having a bit of a problem and I'm hesitant to even try rooting it since I haven't rooted a phone since and I would prefer getting advices.
I am aware of the guide on rooting the phone and would have no problems following it if it wasn't for the fact that my phone's build was currently 47.1.A.12.270 and the guides use the .16.20 update but can't find the files to update to the September build. Model G8441
Since the phone is unlocked, I can't update through the normal means in order to get to that update or get 9.0 for that matter in order to do the root. Is there a guide on updating the phone to those before using the guide to root it? I haven't done this in a long time and don't remember anything. Thanks in advance!

Every time to you boot or reboot it should tell you it's been unlocked. I'd have sent it back as soon as I booted it up.

As you don't need to worry about your TA partition use the Flashtool or Newflasher to upgrade to Pie, flash TWRP, install Magisk, done.

I don't need to worry about going to .16.20 before upgrading to pie, just go directly?
If so, it's a lot easier than I thought. With my z3c I had to upgrade to a specific build prior rooting.
Just to make sure, the phone comes from the US so I should get the Customized US version for 47.2.A.11.228?

Sure. If you have issues with the fingerprint reader give some of these THREADS a read.

Thanks, I'm not really going to use the feature but if It causes problem, I'll look into it. My only problem now is finding and downloading the tft file for the update so I can flash but I'm having difficulty finding such thing.
I was able to download the DE version that is over 2 gigs. Does the version truly matter?

Open the flashtool, run Xperifirm and it's there.

Not really, apart from bloatware.

Oh wow, even more proof I haven't done this in a while, I completely forgot about xperifirm, still have it on my computer, just need to update it. Now I feel dumb.
Thanks again for the reminder!
