Dumb question, but from my googling, I'm supposed to be able to view my x4 RAM usage under Settings > Memory.
But I don't have any Memory subsection under Settings? Currently on Android 8.1 with May security updates.
Go to Settings, system , devolper options, running services. If you don't know how to enable devolper options , go to settings, system , about phone and click 3 times on build number
Ahh, there it is. Thanks Rodriigo69

Hello,
I am not that good in handling android yet especially in Gingerbread.
How to set default for installing application or games to usb storage rather than phone storage?
I am using SGS 2.3.3 (official Gingerbread for 3 UK).
All help is really appreciated.
settings > wireless and networks > usb settings > ask on connection, i think thats what your asking right ?
Think he means apps2sd, don't think it can be set as default, but I could be wrong.
Thank you for the reply...
Yes my question is the application to usb storage set as default...
I also think cannot set to default to usb storage. But, who know, maybe I was wrong...
Anybody know?
Your help really appreciate...
On cyanogen mod it's possible :
Go to CyanogenMod Settings -> Application -> Install Location
Any good apps2sd application will tell you which apps you can move to usb storage and some of them will force move them to.
I'm on OF3 update. S5 AT&T obviously. I just recently tired to update my software, and a message saying insufficent storage showed up. Which was logical, I didn't have much space. It said the update was something like 300MB. But after uninstalling a couple apps and deleting a $hit ton of photos, I now have 3GB. But the update won't start? The message still shows in the notifications, and I can't open it. I tried restarting and shutting off. Nothing. I know battery can sometimes be an issue, but I had 80%. So I need initiate the download.
You need to create 4 to 7 GB of free space on your phone. Others have been having the same issue.
Resolution
The issue may be related to available storage memory on the device. If clearing space does not resolve the issue, the device can be updated to the latest version of software at an AT&T DSC or Best Buy Samsung location.
To resolve the issue:
1) Clear Cached Data
Tap Settings > Storage > Cached data > Clear Cached data
Try downloading the software update again
2) Create at least 4 to 7 GB of free storage space
Tap Settings > System Tab > Storage > Available Space to check current storage usage
Delete Unnecessary files (such as Pictures/Video/Music Files)
3) Visit an AT&T Device Support Center or Best Buy location for help updating to the latest software

1-> Clean install any stable rom Freedom/Experience links in the end.
2-> After that setup your phone add email accounts (Do this before following steps).
3-> Go to Settings -> WiFi -> Click gear icon -> Turn off smart WiFi Switcher.
4-> Go to Settings-> Backup & Reset and disable backup.
5-> Go to Settings-> Advanced -> Disable "Join User Experience"
6-> Go to settings-> Location -> Scanning -> Turn off both WiFi and Bluetooth scanning (I prefer to turn on location whenever I need)
7-> Install AKT (Links provided below)
8-> Now open AKT -> Balanced-> Select HawkPepper (Similar performance when compared to stock but battery friendly).
9-> Make sure AKT is not in the list of Greenify and also go to Settings -> Battery -> Aggressive Dose & Hibernation -> make sure AKT is not optimized.
10-> Go to Settings -> Apps -> click 3 dots and select show system apps -> Force stop Google Play Services, Play Store & Google Services Framework -> Clear data for Play Services & Google Service Framework
11-> Reboot to recovery -> Wipe Cache And Dalvik
Done.
Use for at least 3 to 4 cycles because since we did clean flash first 2 cycles may consume more battery.
After 3 to 4 cycles, if you still notice drain then do steps 10 and 11 again.

trying out and i already installed AKT but i don't see it on Agressive Doze and Hibernation to not optimize it
stop it with these posts. these things are already discussed several times on every thread and things like sot really depends on everyone's personal usage.

While i was checkng my 4g data usage on my huawei p9, i saw these two apps. But i cant see them in applications menu. What are those? Do your devices also have them?
nope.
What version of OS you have? it is branded by operator? any customization you had on it?

No, not branded. i am on L09C636B134 and running androig 6.0. with emui 4.1 and no other customization.
hard to tell, cant find any specific info about such apps in Huawei devices. And I never saw such apps in other Android devices that I have.
One post on some forum mentioned wakelock process, but it was about "10121"
Did you check system processes in App section of settings?
And permissions section?
Also do they take loots of data? Because maybe its just one of many process of SystemAndroid that contain actually lots of smaller sub-processes, and it just show as separate app...
Its actually good to spend those 5min in app section and turn off access to internet that doesnt really need internet(after selecting app, go to DataUsage section and disable all options)
And also enabling turning off apps after screen is off, in Battery Options.
Here are the screenshots. They are neither in "applications" nor in the "system process"
And i cant change their statuses because as you can see they are greyed out.

Damn, I have no idea, maybe someone else with better knowledge of android, and especially EMUI system could say if such applications should exist and drain data.
But seeing amount of data it take I can say that its really suspicious behavior, not normal to system apps/processes.
As I see you have enabled data for those apps, so if you can, set All those options bellow to "Not Allowed". It should stop draining your data transfer.
If you cant change that(system gray out those options), and this data drain is annoying for you, I would suggest typical answer: try to update your phone to latest EMUI 5.0 or at least EMUI 4.1.1
I know its overkill for such situation, but way back in early days of Android I found out that reflashing/factory reset/update made few times, actually fix almost all problems -_-
Funny but true....
Hello,
It seems that MIUI is terminating background apps too easy.
My 4 year old s7 edge keeps almost every app "alive" in task manager.
With Mi9 , the next day gives only ~6-7 of the last apps used. All the others are obviously forced to close in order (obviously) for the device to perform better/faster.
Is there any way i can adjust its memory management?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, that's true.
You have some configurations available in Setting > Battery.
By default all apps are optimized. You need to manually changed it.

Not only that, but MIUI is very aggressive when it comes to closing apps to save battery and keep performance up.
You can go to the developer settings and disable MIUI Optimizations, it's at the very bottom. With that your memory management should be as close to stock Android as possible with Xiaomi.
The only downside is you will get notifications saying that you should enable the optimizations.
