I have a XT1900-1 variant in the USA and have been running into a couple of issue.
1. Most of the time, when I leave a wifi network the phone will not automatically reconnect to wifi. It will give me the LTE symbol with a little X over the signal icon. It will stay this way until I put it into airplane mode for a minute or two, then turn airplane mode off.
2. When I get in my car, the phone usually will do a good job of connecting to the bluetooth (2013 Toyota Corolla). However, recently it has started connecting but will continue to play audio through the device speaker instead of through bluetooth. The airplane mode trick above is usually what fixes this as well.
I have done a network reset and factory reset, neither of which resolved either of these issues. Moto wants me to send my device in, which I've already had to do before and don't want to do again. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
I am not experiencing this.

I switched from the G1 to the EVO 4G and now I primarily use the G1 for my kids to play games. I want to use it for the app Torque but the stock version of Android doesn't let me turn on Airplane Mode and keep access to WiFi and Bluetooth. When you go into Airplane Mode it disables all radios. Also, if I do a hard reset it will require me to register with a cell network before I can do anything else. I want to leave the G1 in my car with it plugged in and connected to my OBD2 Bluetooth dongle. If I leave it in the car without Airplane Mode on, it will drain the battery in a few hours because it keeps trying to connect to the cell network. Is there any ROM that I can put that doesn't require to me to register to a cell network after reset and will allow me to use WiFi and Bluetooth while in Airplane Mode? The EVO 4G allows me to do it. Thanks for any help.

Most, if not all, of the ROM (needed G1 to be rooted) now let you by pass the gmail registation process (skip button). As far as getting rid of the phone call option, you can use Titanium Backup and uninstall what ever you don't need, make sure you do the backup of the apps first.
All of a sudden beginning yesterday my captivate can no longer connect to the wifi network at work. Other users can connect to the network fine and I'm able to see the network from my phone and connect to other networks just fine but when I try to connect to the work network it just shows connecting with the round circle containing 2 curved arrows and then disconnected, scanning, and connecting again.
I have stock 2.3.5 and have tried wifi fixing apps and power cycling without success... Basically I'm stuck at the point of a hard reset unless anyone has any other suggestions for why I'm unable to access one specific wifi channel all of a sudden...
Thanks!
I meet wifi problem like yours, cause of the poor network switcher. After switcher reboot, phone can connect it.
Try Airplane mode on the phone, or switching WiFi on and off. Rebooting router helps too - but probably not an option at work.
It's the router/access point. Reboot that and all is good.
Hey guys/gals -
I got my Moto-X a few weeks ago, and have been using it without issue on AT&T. Unfortunately, I'm just wrapping up my first trip through Europe with this phone (left my iPhone 5 at home), and I've noticed a very odd thing over the last week.
For some reason, my phone will not re-establish a cellular data connection once it has connected to WiFi (and subsequently disconnected from WiFi). I have noticed this - consistently - in both Germany and Italy. In all cases, once WiFi is no longer connected, I can see that the cellular data network is available (the 4G or E logo shows up, grayed out, next to the cell bars) but it will not reestablish. The only way to obtain a cellular data connection is to restart the phone.
I've tried going into airplane mode; I've tried cycling cellular data. Nothing I can think to try causes the cellular network icon ("4G" or "E") to cycle from gray to white...I simply cannot get back online without a full restart. But once I've restarted it works fine - so long as I don't jump on WiFi.
The phone isn't unlocked; it's an AT&T device, with no APN tweaks.
Anyone have any idea what could cause this behavior? Unfortunately, it's going to be another four or five weeks before I'm back here to test any ideas...but I figured I'd reach out while the issue is fresh.
Cheers.
Just to chime in, I've also seen this issue on mine, but it only happens with certain WiFi access points. After using the Cisco ones at work the problem occurs, but my Asus N66U doesn't seem to upset it.
Hi, I'm new here so forgive me if I do something wrong^^
First of all, I have a Moto G 2014, Dual Sim which is running on 5.1.1, to be more specific, this ROM. I was using this ROM for about 4 months already so that shouldn't be the issue. My problem is that after my phone connects to the internet, usually using H+. The connection to the internet is working perfectly fine, but after a while of not using the phone it loses the connection. It still tells me that it got a strong H+ connection, but nothing (browser, apps, anything) is able to connect to the internet. Enabling & disabling airplane mode usually fixes the problem. From time to time it also happens, usually when I lost some sort of wifi connection (regardless if I disabled wifi or I got out of range) it happens that it shows full connectivity but with an exclamation mark. This only goes away if I reboot or enable & disable airplane mode again.
Is this issue known/is there any solution to
I have been experiencing the exact same thing as of lately. I thought it was a byproduct of downgrading from (Stock) Marshmallow to (Stock) Lollipop (yes! it's happening even on stock ROM) where at times the WiFi losses connectivity when the phone had been sleeping for awhile...even though I have the "Keep WiFi on during sleep" option on under WiFi's advanced settings. I had no idea that it also happens with data connections ! ...as I don't use it (too expensive for me), now I'm uncertain what could be the cause. I can see how this would be an inconvenience if you use a lot of social media apps as I sometimes do not get my WhatsApp messages when this happens and sometimes I don't even receive my Hangouts messages until I open the app manually.
It's strange, at times when my phone sleeps for awhile and it losses connectivity and I wake it, it will reconnect just fine and other times it just goes into this state where it reconnects with full signal strength but with an exclamation mark next to the WiFi icon in the notification bar. When this happens, no matter what I try it stays in this state, I tried turning off WiFi and turning it back on, also forgetting the network and entering the info and reconnecting to it but none of that works. I didn't know that turning on and off airplane mode can help....I'll have to try that one, rebooting the phone was the only solution I found which is just inconvenient and somewhat annoying.
I too, am interested in a proper solution. I don't know why the phone ignores the "Keep WiFi on during sleep" option or why at times it connects but have not internet access! It should be noted that it's not a problem with the network, It's not due to an incorrect password or anything like that as I am the one that administers those things and when it happens other WiFi devices such as my Tablet PC, Laptop etc can connect and access the internet just fine and it only happens sometimes on the phone (Moto G 2014). This doesn't seem to happen in Marshmallow...but I hate Marshmallow and I can't remember having this issue on Lollipop post Marshmallow update (how I wish I had never tried out Marshmallow!!!), which is why I thought it was related to downgrading, .......did you downgrade ?
I have this strange issue that has been with me almost since the beginning. I haven't been able to trace when it happens, but it now seems almost 100% of the time.
I only have WiFi in the house (wifi6, if it matters). If I go out, I only have 4G (I left only 4G and disabled 5G). I have no data until I put the phone into airplane mode and back, or I disable and re-enable mobile data.
Same thing when I go back in the house: no data until I disable and re-enable WiFi.
I've disabled the option for 'always-on mobile data' or similar, it's quite a battery drain if there's no cell signal.
Seems like a very strange bug, I don't have this with any of my other phones.
So you have both WiFi and 4G enabled and they don't switch seamlessly?
Exactly. I always have to restart each one of them, usually by toggling airplane mode. Was wondering if anyone else ran into this issue.
Ok this really is strange. There are 2(!) different toggles to enable data switching between WiFi and 4G, but for me it works flawlessly without them! As soon as I get out of my home WiFi range, 4G kicks in, and when I get in range again, the phone connects to my WiFi...
Hi, i have this problem too but it's not always.
I have a wifi 6 router too.
I also have problems switching from wifi to 4g. Need to toggle airplane mode on/off. 5g deactivated. No wifi 6 here.
I always assumed my vpn is causing problems during the switch to 4g. But hearing others have the same problem i would assume its zenfone problem.
I never had any issues in this area with my ZF8. With the option to have cellular always on I could walk out of my WiFi zone during a video call and no drop or short pause would appear.
With this off the network need a few second to work, and some apps need to be refreshed/restarted to gain connection. Never needed to toggle connection for this to work.
Maybe a reset would be enough or check for updates.
Ah, exactly! It does not necesarily need a network restart, but some apps just lose connection for a while, which can be from a few seconds to >1h. Which is even more weird as the icons are showing full connectivity. I would go out of the house, do stuff, come back later and I would only get the notifications when I'm back inside the house.
Rarely I had the connection drop completely (no signal) when switching, but I haven't noticed this happening since the last update.
