I have a ATT Note 8 that I got the unlocked (with a the unlock code from ATT) and I have activated it on Total Wireless. I have been able to get the 3G, voice and texting to work, but I can't seem to get the 4G to work. I thought that it should work straight away, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It is a SM-N950U with firmware version N950USQU4CRF3. I tried to Odin flash the verizon firmware, but I could not get it to take (Odin refused/failed.)
If anybody could help me with this, I would appreciate it.
i have unlocked att note8, it works fine on LTE with Verizon Prepaid, 40$ for 6gb LTE data.
you have to flash a Verizon firmware with bootloader 4.
i like the unlocked firmware better, it has LTE+ to shows it connected to LTE Advanced and build in caller ID.
If you could link me to the correct firmware, that would be awesome!
here's the unlocked firmware.

When I try to flash it, it fails. https://gyazo.com/c4fd1438dee3d7f2fae1471e255763e0
Any idea why it's failing?

Which Odin did you use?
Comsey Odin or regular Odin?
Did you read the op of that link he gave you?
What's your bootloader version? Does it match or higher then the one you are flashing?
Bootloader version is the 5 number from the right of the baseband version number in about phone/software info.

I was trying to use the patched Odin 3.13 as well as Prince Comsy's Odin (both fail). The guide didn't really describe the firmware version I was running, so it was a bit hard to understand. I have bootloader 4. I have tried the firmware he linked to and I tried the latest Verizon firmware downloaded from SamFirm. Looking at the name of the firmware files, they are bootloader 4.
Thank you
I was finally able to get it to flash using a friends computer. Unfortunately all of the att stuff is still on the phone, I still have no access to 4g lte.

Hi all,
I have purchased galaxy note 3 in Pakistan and it is AT&T unlocked phone means I can use my own network (Telenor) in Pakistan. Currently my phone is on 4.4.2 and I don't find any software update option in about device in settings menu nor through kies 3. I want to update my phone to Lollipop edition manually.
Things I have tried so far, downloaded ROM from sammobile and it is UK region BTU ROM. Downloaded Odin v3.10 and ran it as administrator and select the .tar.md5 file in AP box. No other options I selected but the default ones. But after detecting my phone Odin starts writing but after some time it failed showing me a message NAND write failed, auth error.
I have tried both Odin version v3.09 and v3.10 but both failed.
What can I do to solve this.
My phone configurations are:
Model: SM-N9005
Android: 4.4.2
Bootloader, Baseband: N900AUCUCNC2
CSC, PDA: N9005ZSUCND2
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Abdul Rahman
The n900a has a locked bootloader which could explain the Odin error.
The Sm-9005 and n900a are different phones and att never had the n9005. Is the phone new or used?

Thanks that you replied. I got a used phone. when I check about device, it tells me that Model is SM-N9005 and also removing battery and seeing there model number is same i.e. SM-N9005. And also I am using a different network here in pakistan instead of AT&T, it means phone is unlocked.

Does the imei from *#06# give you the same imei as on the label under the battery?

Is the phone model an Sm-n9005 in download mode? If it is, the phone is not from att.

In download mode, model is SM-N900A . So, I am unable to install BTU ROM on this model. Am I right??
Looks like something is wrong in that the models numbers do not match. Download mode says 900a and the software says 9005. Something is not right with the phone.
Looks like my phone is SM-900A in download mode. so I can't install UK region ROM on this. So, I think my problem is solved. Thanks to everyone who answered.
Hi I'm trying to flash the T-Mobile firmware from sammobile.com, but whenever I try, I get an error at 32% when it says Installing System Update. I attempted to flash CSC,AP,BL, and CP with it saying PASS in Odin. I really need the T-Mobile firmware and am wondering if it is possible to do? I determined that I cant install CSC files and get the error when I try. Any Solutions?
SM-G950U
Odin 3.12.3
T-Mobile Firmware:
PDA: G950USQU1AQD9
CSC: G950UOYN1AQD9
I'm having the same problem with an ATT phone flash with the US "U" unlocked version firmware. When I don't flash the csc it will start up only with the USB plug in but shut down after the beginning startup
Search for a "modified Odin". It was what I used to be able to flash unlocked firmware on a 7 and 7 edge a few months ago. The "normal" Odin wouldn't let me do it, but the modified one did. Though you may need to wait until it's been updated....I haven't checked it in awhile.
Still no solution to avoid the error to 32%?
Try this Odin. This is the one I used to flash the Canadian firmware on mine.
I managed with odin version 3.12.5! But only with BL AP and CP!
When I add CSC I get the error at 32%!
So a priori everything works, I no longer have the Verizon overlay (nor the logo at startup) more by cons I have duplicates in the settings menu ...
What is the CSC file?

The Canadian firmware you got it or? On sammobile I find it not:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U/
The Canadian firmware is stock or operator?
I would have access to all the bands?
Its the firmware with the "w" at the end. Please read this thread for all the information on doing this and make sure you want to do it.

so to do this we actually have to go to the canadian firmware first, do the csc change then flash the Tmo firmware? You can't just flash the Tmo Firmware via the modded Odin? Just to save confusion.
I would imagine it's worth it just to get the proper network options, VOLTE, WiFi calling and such.

This is the exact thread that I used. Follow the steps and you can skip engboot. If you flash the full Canadian firmware, its impossible to reverse. So, only flash whatever is in the steps. I successfully went from Verizon To T-Mobile and then back to Verizon. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/switch-to-carrier-firmware-100-t3609487

I have a N950W (canadian model). Origina firmware BRA5 (latest Canadian release)
Used Odin to BRA8 then update to CRA5. Works good, however I need to go back to official Canadian release and I think it may not be possible since its BRA5?
Does BRA5 and BRA8 have different version bootloader?
Can I somehow downgrade to BRA8 but have the model go back to N950W and be recognized as a Canadian device? I am missing some needed carrier options.
Thank you for reading.
I did the exact same thing you did. Turned my W into a U model. I believe we were on 3BRA5, 3 being bootloader 3. That would mean you can flash back with no issues.
CRB5 is working great for me, but I did lose VoLTE and Samsung Pay on my Telus version (after I flashed it to a U).
Someone else chime in and correct me if I am wrong, but you should be able to flash back to W software any time without issue, as long as it's a bootloader version 3 version.

Yeah the lack of VoLTE is killing me at work. I can't flash BRA5 (I think bootloader is older). I am thinking I can maybe flash BRA8 with Canadian CSC and that will bring it back to N950W. I'm not sure though. Can someone confirm?

I just double checked. It's 3BRA5. That's bootloader 3, so you should be able to flash back to 3BRA5 with no issues. Again, a second opinion would be good. I don't want to be responsible for you bricking your Note, lol.
I don't think you can change the CSC of BRA8 to a Canadian CSC, as the multi CSCs in BRA8 are for USA carriers only.

How I remembered it as is Comsy Odin is for going to a non-carrier U1 firmware, while regular odin is for going back to a carrier firmware.
Comsy --> U1 Firmware > Success
Comsy --> Carrier Firmware > Fail
Regular Odin --> Carrier Firmware > Success
Regular Odin --> U1 Firmware > Fail
As per the title, bought an unlocked G970U instead of U1 by mistake. Should I expect a Verizon splash screen greeting me in the bootloader? I don't wanna see any branding anywhere in my phone. Can I get rid of any of that flashing U1 firmware?

Which G970U phone you have bought. If it was a Verizon branded, then their logo should greet you If you bought T-Mobile variant, then its logo will be present while booting the phone. Flashing is possible and it depends which carrier you have. Also don't you have the phone in hand yet?

Yeah, the phone hasn't arrived yet. In the pictures I can see the box has no carrier logo, but I'm guessing it's Verizon because I haven't seen a Verizon branded box yet. Also, the box definitely says G970U.
I've been a Nexus/Pixel user all my flashing life, so I'm well versed in the fastboot/adb dark arts. How does this compare to Odin? There are so many new terms that I'm still trying to understand: CSC, HOME CSC, USERDATA, etc. Is there any guide I can follow to flash my incoming phone to U1 firmware?

The T-Mobile version is also G970U, so it can be pretty much any carrier. USERDATA file is present in carrier firmware, if you flash unlocked firmware you won't need/have this file.
Link below is for S8, but works for S10 as well. Of course you would need to use firmware files for your phone. I would also use instructions under "Flashing standard firmware" first using Standard Odin. If you get an error when staring to flash, then use (Patched) Prince Comsy's Odin.

Thanks a lot. One last question. I'm based in Mexico (we only get Exynos here), so I got a U version to get the Snapdragon CPU. Obviously I don't want any US carrier branding/blotware in the phone since I couldn't benefit whatsoever from it. What about OTA's, though? Will I get them whenever Samsung releases an update for U1? Or will that depend on my carrier? Should I update monthly using Odin? Do I have to factory reset? So many questions :silly:
The link you provided doesn't work, btw. But I've since found some other Odin guides. Thanks!

I corrected the link in case you need it.
To answer OTA question: I had unlocked U1 model of S8 and when I flashed it with T-Mobile firmware then my phone got OTA from T-Mobile when they release it. I assume if you have carrier branded phone and flash it with U1(XAA) firmware then most likely your phone will get updates when Samsung releases them. You won't have to use Odin every time there is an update if you flash properly. Also, it would be advisable to flash using CSC file instead of HOME CSC, so your phone would be wiped. It is because you change firmware and want your software to be fully compatible. After flashing and you check your phone's software update and see that is shows "not compatible or something similar", then I would just suggest you to do "reset"(factory reset) from setting and after you setup your phone, that message will disappear. Also don't do any software update before flashing as you phone may get a fresher firmware than the one you might be trying to flash.
1) Check your current phone firmware
2) Download firmware you want, but if you can, get the firmware that is a previous one than the current one, so you will check to see how your phone gets OTAs
3) Flash using Odin
4) After that disconnect and let the phone do its thing
5) Set it up and check to see if software update section in settings don't give you any messages such as the one I outlined above, if it does, just factory reset the phone
I flashed my AT&T S10 SM-G973U to XAA after unlocking to for use on T-Mobile. I can't seem to flash it back to stock, I always get an error usually after abl portion of Odin flashing. I am sure if I am using an incorrect Odin or what. Can some please guide me in the correct direction?

You mean you want to downgrade?
Actually it's kinda impossible, Samsung forbids flashing firmwares prior to the last security patch, no changes will be made.
I wouldn't say necessarily downgrade, but to flash my phone back to AT&T branded firmware like it was when I got it. I know that when I do a SIM card change yes it does change the firmware and branding but it's still XAA

Did you have any issues changing your AT&T S10 into XAA ? I'm planing to do exact this.
What gets me is, you can't find AT&T firmware anywhere except on shady looking, but legit pay sites so you pay for it when it should be free like all the other carriers firmware.

At&t firmware you have to pay for. Yes you can flash another carrier firmware using patched Odin.
You just need to change csc to att which you can do using *#272*IMEI#
No need to flash new firmware
