zoom into a video during playback - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I searched on the forum but could not find anything about zoom except for zooming in while taking a picture or shooting a video. On my old Samsung when replaying a video, you could zoom into the video.
When I do that movement of spreading your fingers on my Huawei the video just fast forwards. Is it even possible to zoom into a video while replaying without using that option that everything zooms in by tapping 3 times.

Not with stock video player.
Coming from a Sony I Was happy with their album/photo video player app.
It supports pan and zoom.
You can get it from here

[Q] How to fix video recording in CyanogenMOD

Hello, I have CyanogenMOD nightlies on my 4X. It is totally no problem to fast take great pictures using Camera ZOOM FX, but I can't find some solution for video recording. The Cyanogen camera app is horrible and doesn't work at all. Pictures cannot be taken it freezes itself and video is in horrible quality even if FHD is selected. I tried a lot of stuff from Google Play, but it is not worth doing it. Is there any way to use original LG camera app in CMOD? Thanks alot!
There is a sample video recorded in HD, as you can see it is pretty laggy and sh*t quality.
Add this after youtube link to see video (without quotes) "/watch?v=Z5sHLFwLGBA"

Slow motion with Audio

Any news on this? I have seen on GSM Arena that the Galaxy S6 actually shoots slow motion with audio, the interface in the Note 4 is good as it is, it just lacks the proper shooting mode, Slow motion with Audio, video quality is ok right now, i just miss the audio, adding the slow motion effect to a video directly on the phone is a huge upgrade, but having the Note 4 lacking behind the iphone 5 is just not right, S6 does it right tho, any news of someone porting the S6 camera to the Note 4? Thanks for reading.
You can use 'Snap Camera' app, open it, enable advanced controls (or something like that), go to video tab, choose 720p, change bitrate if desired, now choose Record at maximum framerate (or something like that). Record a video and play it at x0.25 with VLC and/ or use a video editoron your pc.
Thanks for the reply, but im interested in the current slow motion mode in the note 4 where you can slow down a fraction of the video while the rest keeps the normal speed, exporting the video like that is ok on the note 4, but no audio.

Oh, then try this app alongside with the other one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobile.bizo.slowmotion
Open this app, choose to record a video using Snap Camera with the settings I told you before, then return to the app and edit the video as you want.

How to make YouTube app full screen without black bars

Is there a way to make video fit to screen with no black bars on each side when on full screen or landscape mode. My phone is currently rooted as well. Thanks

You may want to reword the thread as a question. It seems more like a statement that you have already figured this out. Just a thought.
I don't know if this works as i don't have recieved the phone yet, but try to copy the youtube link and paste it here.
stretch.site
It has sliders that let you chose your own aspect ratio. Maybe you can reach fullscreen in that way?
i think the only way you can do it is to root, install xposed, and make changes with per app settings. that should work i think
I currently download the youtube video with TubeMate, then open the clip with MX Player Pro or KMPlayer. In MX Player Pro it's possible to enable pintch to zoom, so you can over-zoom until there are no black bars visible. KMPlayer allows to zoom in a bit, which for some youtube videos is sufficient to remove all black bars, but not for the youtube videos that have black bars encoded in the video already.
Anyone successfully changed the Youtube DPI with an xposed DPI changer, to allow overzoom?
Because the aspect ratio is different, it won't happen natively. Like the other poster suggested, you need to zoom in the screen to chop off the top/bottom of the video.
just bumping this thread. Has anyone come up with a solution for per app? would love to be able to pinch-zoom native in the app.
Some apps like Netflix scale pretty damn well, most shows will take full advantage of the screen and movies will zoom to fit the width (leaving very narrow black bars), whereas youtube and iplayer leave these little black edges left and right... is a shame.
I just tried the latest guardians of the galaxy trailer and it played in full screen, i was trying to so what size that video is. Maybe new videos on YouTube are going to start being played in different ratios since the new up coming phones are 18.9
You can do it without root on every video on Youtube !
Just activate the "Magnification gesture" setting and then triple tap whenever you want to "zoom in" a Youtube video,it will still crop a little part of the video to make it full screen if the ratio is not the same though.

Native app feature from Youtube app version 12.44.54. Updated today and works fine.

Video file framesize not matching what Camera sees

Hello people! I'm trying to record video with my new OP3T, but when I watch the recording, the video frame size (or field of view I suppose) is smaller than what it looks like when I'm shooting. I mean the video resolution is still 1920x1080, but things at the edges of the screen are now out of view. I'm using 1920x1080 @30 FPS, stock camera app, Android 7.0. Same thing happens with other resolutions and FPS settings, and with OpenCamera app for example. But it does not happen when taking pictures, and even when I take a static shot WHILE shooting video, that picture comes out fine.
Is this a known issue? How could I solve this? Is there any modification that could help?

Seems to be a known issue. Watch this video (pay attention at 3:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFC9OB85Tpk&t
I don't know if this can be solved as i received my 3T yesterday and haven't had a chance to use the camera yet.

It seems so, yeah. Do you know if this sort of cropping happens during shooting or is it a separate process that's done afterwards? I figured this might be solvable somehow, since you do see the whole picture while you're recording. So it's not a physical limitation of the camera lens or anything.

Noticed that OpenCamera has a function to enable Camera2 API, which fixed the cropping! Also I found that on stock camera app, recording on 4K UHD (3840x2160) doesn't crop the video frame. But it limits to 10 minutes per shot (also workable on OpenCamera due to its restart recording function.)
It's the electronic image stabilisation. It needs to zoom in a little bit to stabilize the video. That's why the 4k isn't cropped, because in 4k, there is only OIS, and not EIS.

Exactly what I thought was the cause of it, thanks for clearing this up ??
Is there any way to disable stabilisation? Different camera app, some mod or something? Even OpenCamera doesn't specifically have a setting for that, but I guess Camera2 API doesn't support EIS or something, which feels like a crutch "solution" at best.

Scan build.prop see if there is some line related to ois or eis.

Question S21 Ultra 20x video zoom restriction unlock?

Hi i see in picture mode you can do the full 100x zoom but video mode has been restricted to only 20x? why lol is there a way to bypass this or unlock the feature anyone have any luck? i got my phone yesterday the zoom is crazy on this phone now if the video had the same zoom it be even more crazy. What it needs is min at-least 30x zoom unlock since the lens is clear at this zoom so there must be a way to actually unlock that i would say.
You can always press and hold the photo shutter button and it will take a video instead, I think at only 1080p though.
In video mode at 100x zoom?

It took me literally 15 seconds to test that myself. Yes, it works at 100x.
Another way is to simply zoom in picture mode and use screen recorder to record the screen that works too at 100x zoom
