just got my phone out of the box but getting warm and battery drain when idling. the phone has updated to 8.1 and july security patch.
i tried factory reset, turn off (data, nfc, gps, wifi), safe mode, and the method link below but none of them help. im guessing the battery is fine but something is triggering something that generating the heat and drain the battery ?
also tried to install couple battery apps to diagnose the problem but didn't get me to anywhere.. is there anything i could do to further investigate the problem before returning my phone...?

I've been experiencing huge troubles with Wifi battery usage after installing OTA update. This is a huge problem, because I have to always keep charging phone while at home. When using default version 2.2.1, my phone used 2-3% of battery per hour while idling with screen disabled and connected to wifi network. After updating to Gingerbread it consumes 6-7% of battery each hour using the same settings. Battery life with wifi disabled is comparable or even better than with Froyo. There are no power hog apps in battery monitoring and performing factory reset hasn't changed anything.
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks.
Hello!
Your issue is weird, my Inc S is performing better in terms of battery consumption with 2.3.3 than the stock ROM...
Have you tried to make a full "fresh" install of the 2.3.3 ROM ? I read somewhere that sometime, OTA updates are messing up with your phone.
Try this ROM : http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&drKey=1359&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D1033922&v=1&libid=1305916498140&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.filefactory.com%2Ffile%2Fcb17e37%2Fn%2FRUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.12.405.7_Radio_20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M_release_187295_signed.exe&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fforumdisplay.php%3Ff%3D1028&title=%5BROMs%5DIncredible%20S%20Shipped%20ROMs%20Collection%20-%20xda-developers&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.filefactory.com%2Ffile%2Fcb17...295_signed.exe
After flashing, do a battery calibration :
1. Let the phone drain all the battery until it just can't boot anymore; When it turns off by itself, turn it on again and again until it won't start,
2. Take off the battery for at least 1min,
3. Put back the battery, let the phone off, and put it in charge for the night,
4. Once it's fully charged, take off the battery for at least 1min,
5. Put back and turn it on.
Hope this helps!
I am having the same problem....Have you managed to fix it?
Hey,
since OTA updating my Ghost (Moto X 2013 xt1052) to the stock version of Lollipop 5.1 I am experiencing a very strange battery behaviour. I have noticed these three cases:
1: Battery displays 1% but the phone will work for another two to three hours until it will power off itself
2: Phone sometimes dies when at levels like 30%
3: Battery consumption is not the best but OK. It drains relatively stable but after reaching 15% it will most likely jump from 15% to 4% and then 1% in a few minutes. Can jump up and down then
I tried letting it drain and charging it up fully while turned off. No effect.
I also tried factory reset and wipe naturally. No effect.
I tried installing a debulked version of the stock rom. No effect.
I flashed CM 12.1 an have the same issues. Plus now the battery level jumps in the stats somethimes although the phone is defenitely not plugged in or charging.
I would like to show you a screenshot of my battery stats here that illuminate the problem quite well but as a newbie I cant
PS: I also have the very common bug where the phone updates all the installed apps at startup when it is started while plugged to a charger. Maybe this is connected?
I couldn't find any info about this behavior. Can you help me? It certainly looks like a bad battery but it intrigues me that the problem occurred only after updating to 5.1. Might it also be a driver or firmware problem of some sort? Some sort of software that does not change when ROMs are switched?
Thanks! Lorenz
When I got my phone (25th of September) the battery life was great and I even had a ton of apps installed.
Recently my battery drain got worse all of the sudden. I thought this was due to a lot of apps, so I did a factory reset. This didn't help so I did it again. While it got somewhat better, it's still very bad.
With 3 hours SOT I lost 70%. I went into battery usage and it said my phone was constantly awoke and it probably shouldn't be that way.
Here's a pic of my usage https://imgur.com/a/Q3SfMm3
I'm really desperate and don't know what to do and if my phone is faulty.
Edit: I was on 4G for the majority of the time, yet it says Wi-Fi was always on, while I had it turned off.
Hey. just bought LG V40. i have a problem, getting serious battery drain issue, in a hour about 2-3%, overnight 15-25%. tried factory data reset, airplane mode, battery saver, disabled unnecessary apps and AOD... but nothing helped. if i turn off phone, there is no drain (maybe). What i must do? It's verizon, sceen set to Full HD, no auto brightness, Android 9.0 pie, on March security updates
Battery life health via Accubattery and Antutu app is 75%, but phone works even when 2-3%, and using time is normal
Also have one problem, there is no write fast charge, it works only if i turn off phone and then charge or charge and restart phone
i don't know if it was always this bad but i don't think so... just noticed that my phone drains battery like crazy on idle.
it was my main phone for 3 years so it was not staying idle as much but i think i would notice it from overnight drain if it was this bad.
i charged it to 80% then found it at 15% after 12-13 hours, i didn't touch it at all... i'm losing about 5% per hour
tried factory reset, debloating evenwell crap, uninstalling google apps that i don't use as well and didn't install anything yet the drain is still same. installed accubattery and it shows over 120mA consumption on idle, screen off... my new main phone drains around 20mA for example.

this problem started after a battery replacement i think. the original battery was dead, it was rebooting at around 50% if i play a game or launch the camera... i had to replace that battery and those problems are solved now.
according to accubattery(it's pretty accurate imo) the capacity of the new battery is around 2650mah
and side button flex is replaced since my power button was faulty. did the service do something wrong? is there anything to explain this battery drain? maybe they didn't reapply a new thermal paste for example so cooling might be worse but i believe it shouldn't matter on idle. and i can't think of anything else...
edit: tried airplane mode and idle consumption was 22mA, anyone else had a similar issue?
edit2: tried mobile network active but wifi turned off, still 22mA i think wifi is draining like 100mA on its own...
okay i'm like 99% sure its a wifi problem.
when i turn off wifi the drain is normal if i turn on a hotspot from my other phone and keep it reaaaally close then drain is normal again. but if i put it far away drains over 100ma again. even worse if i leave the room and there a wall between them.
also i can connect to my router's 5ghz band but it always disconnects, can't stay connected. aaand it can't see my other phone's hotspot at all if i turn on the 5ghz hotspot.
i hope they just didn't connect the antenna cables properly and didn't permanently damage anything, can badly connected antenna wires cause a problem like that? i wanna be sure before opening the phone. i don't have proper glue yet i'll have to spend some money on it. don't wanna waste it if it's not something i can fix by reconnecting the wires...
