First off, I have no issues with the device itself (not bricked, etc.).
I simply want to restore my Kindle Fire HD 7" to the system settings and specs as if I just unboxed the device.
Is there any way to do this? If not, what can I do to reach the closest specs?
Thank you!
Just flash it using kffa's restore then unroot it, that's pretty much stock. You can then make sure it's stock by manually updating by downloading the update file from Amazon's site and following their instructions.

Does towelroot work on 2013 Kindle Fire HD?
I tried it and it didn't seem to work. This is because of the write protected partitions, yes?

We are on the same boat. I only had my computer detect a Kindle Fire HD 7 (1st gen) ONCE out of the 3 times I owned it. Then this new one is a damnation. I can't get the root script made for the new 2nd gen to work. And there are no alternatives. I'm not even gonna bother asking others on the actual forum just to hear what I have already tried...
Hello,
i bought the kindle fire HD 3rd gen from 2013. I rooted it, but the update to OS 4.5.5 removed the root permissions. Is there still a way to root it or do I have to downgrade it? If I have to, how can I do it? I only found tutorials for other devices or OS.
So, a little back ground, I have an Amazon Fire and installed CM 12.1 and it has been excellent. Now, my daughter has a Kindle Fire 3rd. Generation, ideally I would love to install CM or a least a custom ROM. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Where to start? I am familiar with rooting and all, THANKS!!!
Question 1: Is there a way to root Fire OS 5.3.1.1 on a 4th Generation Kindle Fire HD 7 (preferably without ADB)? Question 2: Is there a way to block OTA updates without root? Thanks!

First question is off-topic; post in HD 7 forum (here). Regardless of device no way to reliably (operative word) block OTA updates on an unrooted device short of isolating from network.
