1and1 update? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
I got the info for a new update.
It seems to be a custom update of my provider, isn't it?
Should I install or not?
Will my phone be branded after update?
Will I receive regular updates after that?
I added a screenshot below.
Thx

It is. The changelog states it will add some apps. No idea if it will add a custom boot logo. If you don’t install it, you will still receive firmware updates, which are from Huawei, not your phone provider.

I installed the update.
There were some apps like web.de mail or gmx mail.
Nothing else changed I think.
The firmware is shown separately as you can see on my screenshot.

I'm facing the same issue with the provider branding, "user defined version".
To cut a long story short - does anyone has a clue how I could get rid of the downloaded, and not installed "user defined" provider firmware "1AND1.DE 8.1.0.1(CT.F02)"?
I don't want it and of course didn't even asked for it. Unfortunately is was downloaded automaticly, but I luckily never installed this #$§!#-Branding Version.
My main concerns to this "update" is, that it could irreversibly change my CUST C432 to an absolutely unwanted provider branding "CT.F02"
Meanwhile I had to use HiSuite for any Firmware updates, e.g. for latest Firmware Version Android 9 "Pie" for the P20 Pro.
It seems that the standard OTA isn't working for me anymore - and my suspect is the downloaded, but not installed "user defined" provider update stated above.
BTW, I already tried whipe cache partition (via recovery) and tried to access /cache/fota via ADB Shell, but unfortunately we have no permission reading that path.
Any ideas (beside factory reset )?
Cheers, Borg

Really, no one??
Here's another case of User defined Version DT.DEU 8.1.0.4(LT.F01)

re-lock bootloader

Hello Guys,
I am not a dev and am looking for some info.
I recently unlocked bootloader, rooted using RAZRI Root2 and installed a few custom roms however, neither of the roms work really smoothly and my mobile is now slow.
1. How can i re-lock the bootloader and install the official firmware?
2. My mobile was locked to Orange, can I install the Retail GB if so how?
Please remember I am not a dev so step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated:good:

I already created an bat for doing that. I'll post it here as soon as I'm back home.

Wonderful - I am back to stock ROM. I have en EU but live in the UK, is this an issue and can I now receive OTA update without bricking my mobile?
Relock your Bootloader
You'll need an complete JB (4.1.2) Fastboot File of your Region for doing that!
Copy the content of the View attachment 2175015 into the extracted Fastboot File Folder

Enable USB Debugging on your RAZR i and connect it with your PC (Driver should be installed already )
Start the Re-lock Bootloader.bat
! Your Data & internal SD will get wiped !
Enjoy your relocked Bootloader
The Message on Boot, that your Bootloader was unlocked will still showing up !

You won't brick by updating OTA. But from what I've read over here in Germany, an User already asked Moto twice, if an Update for the Razr i to 4.2.2 or 4.3 will come. Moto stated, there're no more Updates planned (That's Moto). So don't worry about that

[Q] 23.0.A.2.98 being pushed again?

Just now Update Center tells me that a new FW would be available for download (via PC only).
However, the new version that Update Center tells me is exactly the same that I have already installed: 23.0.A.2.98 - Unbranded - Germany (1289-4696).
Anyone else noticing that?

Yes
Yes, I can confirm this, also for an unbranded phone in Germany.

That's then a customization change only and not a new FW, isn't it?! Why do they do that?
But in fact, there're now two 23.0.A.2.98 for download, one is R7B and the other R8B...

And again no informations about changes availible

I have R11B what is mean??
Sent from my D5803 using XDA Free mobile app
It 's a "subversion" of the "main"-firmware, customized by a provider or for a counrty/area.
Most times we don't have infos about the differences. Sometimes there are only different ringtones, maybe for copyright reasons.
_WOODY_
Correct, again my Z3C / D5803 shows that same FW update, now to 1289-4696_R9B.
So far so good (or so far so boring )
The strange thing is that a second generic customization version has appeared: 1293-2052_R3B
So, both are "Customized DE" but one is 1289-4696_R9B and the other is 1293-2052_R3B.
Anyone having an idea?

Pop up with Chinese symbols

Hi,
since yesterday I have strange pop ups after unlocking my phone.
They appear approx. 5 seconds after unlocking.
I have a German S5, unrooted with stock marshmallow.
Any ideas?

Either your S5 is a clone or you/anyone who uses/used the phone installed something (an app) which starts at boot and pops up those messages. Which ever the case i would browse all installed apps and see if something looks suspicious. Good luck!
Is there any possibility to find out which app is launched directly after unlocking?
Could it be that it is the firmware itself?
I'm really sure that it is not a clone.
Is this language Chinese or Korean?

Edit:
seems to be "ES file explorer"
Damn, I use it since a few years. Now I need a new file manager....
How did you determine it was ES File Explorer causing this?

Simply uninstalled it and the pop ups were gone.
My wife also has a S5 and the difference was that I already installed the ES file explorer update...

Hmm that's Chinese
At first i immediately uninstalled it, but then i checked the google play page.
It seems they forgot to disable a debug feature, causing these messages to be printed. Check the comments:

I think it is better to prevent user to downgrade their Phones. As you know, since Android 5.1.1 released, Google replace the Samsung Reactivation Lock with their Factory Reset Protection. But in the lower versions of the android, there is many way to bypass this protection on Samsung Devices. Samsung fixed it on their security patches. Just imagine that if user can downgrade their phone to any version of android, when a thief steals the phone, they can easily to bypass it and make the phone become theirs.
Thank you for replying but I am still clueless if I can downgrade that specific android version I showed in screenshot above.
no one?
Have you tried TEKHD's stock-rooted 5.1.1?
You cannot downgrade... Once bootloader is upgraded there is no way back. You can try but highly you'll end with bricked device ... Also if you try custom roms they wont boot due to mismatch bootloader and recovery. Maybe if you search google you will find a way to do it but if i was you i would not take the risk

Bricked stuck samsung screen SM950F/DS

I tried to root my phone and failed. The phone is stuck on trying to boot up. I have tried to download the firmware files and recover but keep getting an error with it. I have no idea what to do from here and feel so stupid for doing this.
Exact model of the phone SM950F/DS. the phone is also unlocked to all networks

Can anyone help
..
The firmware you trying to flash is to old. I could bet, you are already on Oreo firmware. That firmware you try to flash is an old nougat firmware with old boatloader. And you can't downgrade the bootloader. That's the reason why the flash process failed.
Use the latest available Oreo firmware for your country.
Edit:
And don't select re-partition in Odin!

Are you using the latest Odin when trying to flash the filmware? (Needed for Oero)
The rooting function properly failed and has locked your device into Downloading Mode. You could try and take your device to a Samsung Service Center. They maybe able to help you.
