Hello,
Some weeks ago I have rooted my P10 with magisk (and twrp as recovery). Now I hot update Infos for new fw B371 (C432). Ota update won't work so I downloaded full Ota with huawei firmware finder. After download phone restarts but no update. It boots to recovery. Do I have to install the update files manually or isn't an update possible.
Thanks

Just flash a stock oreo recovery, and you should be fine.
Use my guide. Tutorial #3 is the right one.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/guide-manual-updgrade-to-update-oreo-t3758286
Thanks. So root will be undone with this process? After this I can easily install twrp and magisk again without any problems?
Edit: Testet this, but install of officialupdate.zip failed (put the directory in /cust - boot into TWRP, mount cust and tried to install officialupdate.zip). Install from sdcard won´t work too.
Anyone has a solution to fix this. Removed root but it won't work.
Please post the TWRP log after trying to install officialupdate.zip. I need to know, what's failing so I'm able to help you out.

Okay, I can't figure it out, the log says error in line 141 in my script. I tried this on my phone and there's no such error.
What this script does is quiet simple - it just flashes a modified EMUI recovery, where the file and online check are disabled. So, you can flash the recovery from the archive manually via fastboot with "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk PATH\TO\RECOVERY.IMG".
Then restart and do the update via Settings or FF.
After this you need to reroot, so reinstall TWRP and Magisk / SuperSU.

OK then you mean the VTR_RECOVERY_OREO-NoCheck.img. I will check this. Thanks

Hi!
Soon we can expect some update to P9. Can I update in the future through OTA with open bootloader and root?
Yes, just flash stock recovery, make update and flash twrp back.
Thanks, where can we find original recovery? any idea?

you can flash it with the SRK Tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/tool-srk-tool-huawei-bootloader-root-t3374068
Edit: stock recovery also included in this pack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-root-huawei-p9-t3367800
Extra info, i have updated today:
Once you have flashed back original recovery you can begin update. But it is going to fail. Your phone first downloading a small update package (mine was 175mb) but since there were some changes due to root it failed immediately. You phone restarts and is downloading the full update package (~1.7gb). That is going to be OK.
You have to reflash TWRP and reflash root zip in order to have root.

Yes. It is systemless. If you have both systemless root (SuperSU 2.62 and after) and systemless xposed, update should not be an issue.

so it worked for you after resetting the phone? The status of your bootloader should have no impact on OTA from what I've seen.
Hi when you reflash with the firmware b136 by dload the phone do itself a full wipe and relock the boot loader
After the ota b166 was made fine

thx, at least there is a way not prepared to go through all that though. I just realized I still have the update files on my phone (under \Internal storage\HwOUC\54265), there are two files: update.zip (381 mb) and update_data_hw_eu.zip (84 mb).
All I have to do is start up the update process again, as the files are still there. I tried moving these to dload folder on the sd card, packed, unpacked etc nothing seems to make it work so far. If I copy just the update.app from inside the update.zip the update process works but nothing changes, still on B136.
Yeah, holding back here for the moment, until we have a clear idea on how to update. I'm not needing b166 that much, that I have to jump through all those hoops, reset, wipe etc. just for the update.
How can i flash the stock recovery, tryed with STK Tool got an failed . (Command not allowed)
Ok, Recovery should now installed, but, when i press all 3 Buttons i got EMUI "Download latest version and recovery" "Reboot" and "Shutdown" When i click Download.... he cant download any files, wifi is working!
But it didnt install the Update.APP from the dload Folder. (B166)
I am at the Moment on B136

Not exactly understanding what you are asking. For some reason moving the update.app from B166 in the dload folder is not working for this update. So at this moment there is no way to manually update.
If your OTA update failed and/or you don't get the update notification anymore there is only one way to get B166 at the moment: Flash full stock B136 (dload method), which does a factory reset and reverts everything back to stock, then you will get the update notification back and the update will work, even with unlocked bootloader.
I tried to install B162, that doesn't work with dload. My Bootloader is still unlocked, stock recovery is now installed, still rooted.
Should I try to install b136 and try to get the update?

hi guys,
yesterday i installed the oreo beta on my VTR-L29 but then i brickedd it *cry*. unfortunateley the unbrick methods found here in the forum don't work because the oreo update made some changes in the system file structure...
has anyone an idea what to do?
maybe someone can provide me a recovery image for twrp? (one for oreo, otherwise it wont work) so i can give this a try...
after over 10 hours of fiddeling around a found a really easy solution:
most of you know HWOTA helps with this, but the "normal" version wont work after flashing oreo. but this version is flashed via twrp and is still working!
but you will need a oreo compatible twrp, which you can find here
i know the links are to mate 9 software, but since the p10 and mate 9 are nearly identical, it works on the p10 as well
can you post the step by step guide?
i am on oreo 8.0.0.046 and want to flash another version, or downgrade to nougat because few things don't work on this version
i dont know if downgrading works, i just reflashed the latest oreo.
accordingly to the first link it should work, just flash the TWRP from the second link and then follow the instructions from the first link.

Bricked, no TWRP access, any ideas?
Hi.
I know this about a P10, I have a P10 Plus (VKY-L29C605), but the process should be similar, I think.
I bricked my phone after succesfully upgrading from B174 to B321 using HWOTA. After which I decided, since I was at it, to flash the Hyperplus Kernel. This led to a bootloop. To fix it I decided to just go ahead and HWOTA B321 all over again and get over it, and would have probably gone just fine, except I decided to rebrand (C605 > C432) while I was doing that, silly (no, stupid) mistake. This led to the brick I am currently expriencing, I have no recovery access, erecovery or TWRP.
So now I am left trying to unbrick the phone. I extracted the UPDATE.APP for both update_all_hw.zip and update.zip using the Huawei Extractor Tool with no difficulty, except unbricking methods ask for boot.img, which I could not find, so I went along without it and flashed: cust.img, recovery_ramdisk.img (using fastboot recovery_ramdisk command for Oreo), and system.img. All of the commands completed succesfully, but no shebang, still bricked and no recovery access. I figure this has to do with the rebrand as the result after executing the command "fastboot getvar vendorcountry" shows the rebrand pulled through (hw/eu 432).
I am currently downloading HWOTA8.zip (3GB worth of download) to see if I can do something it. I am also downloading the L29C432B360 OTA-FULL, since I believe I am not getting any progress becuase I used the updates for L29C605B321.
The kind people at funkyhuawei told me they could fix it with their tool, but I don't have the money for that right now.
I will post updates, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many of us have posted over this in the last couple of days. Seems like Funky Huawei unbrick tool was the mehtod to get it work for me. You could try that!
or use dc-phoenix for me it worked (= in the moment i try to capture the usb ports kommunikation so i have the tool with the aktual firmware longer for 3 days :silly:
would first give dc a try 20 bucks for 3 days is ok i think (=

Must download some software for your phone, unzip update.zip, decompile UPDATE.APP to .iso files, (like recovery.iso, system, iso, vendor iso, boot iso) use fastboot and 10 minuts job, I brik my device over 10 thimes, and repair it.
So I was able to get the C432B360 firmware and I flashed it, but no I can't enter recovery mode because the battery is low (red lightning bolt/red led flash). Anybody know how to charge or force recovery mode boot from fastboot?
If anyone needs, can use my DC-Phoenix account, I don`t need it anymore.

So I unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP on the p20pro. Just received status that there's full update available. I downloaded and try to install, but the phone would boot into recovery and nothing happens. How should I go about updating the firmware on the device with TWRP?

Hi.Same issue. Does reflash stock recover wipe all my datas ?
How to use HuruUpdater as ther current TWRP does not allow to access on local files (no decryption).
THanks

here's the details
- Unlock bootloader from Huawei : http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/index
- (It's still possible to unlock the bootloader. Just send an email to your local support or tweet them (HuaweiUK). They'll ask you for some info and send you the unlock code. Took me two days to get the code)
- TWRP : https://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...2-1-0-t3779400
- hurupdater_0.3.zip https://forum.xda-developers.com/hon...overy-t3769279 also works perfectly for P20 Pro
Magisk file (if you want to get rooted) https://******************/Magisk/Magisk-v16.0.zip
Now, get patient, an old man did it!
In future direct links for our CLT-L29 european(C432)..
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-databa...irmware_page=0
Click on FullOTA-MF (only!) and click on filelist I had to click several times on filelist to get the links to the 3.zip files needed (thinks to Tecalote for his patience!)
So, the difficult part was to rename the.zip files( I went to #32, page 4 and renamed exactly like it was : Download firmware files (for official firmware use Huawei Firmware Finder).
1. Put files you want to flash in a seperate folder on sdcard.
Supported zip files to flash are (name must match):
o update.zip (use FullOTA file)
o update_full_hw.zip
o update_data_full_public.zip
2. Optional: Put recovery.img (rename your TWRP downloaded "recovery_ramdisk twrp_clt_0.1.img") in same folder if you want to keep custom recovery.
3. Put HuRUpdater zip in same folder. Example:
4. Select only HuRUpdater to flash in custom recovery.
5. Follow instructions on screen. Flashing can take multiple minutes.
Then I followed exactly step by step.
It didn’t work and I had error messages flashing with hurupdater_0.3.zip:
No update_data_public.zip found in /sdcard/”name of your folder”
No update_all_hw.zip in /sdcard/”name of your folder”
As you can see the name of the .zip files did’nt match #32.
I renamed exactly as asked to get rid of the error messages, and BINGO!

Update CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432) with TWRP already installed
Hello,
Many thanks to all of your for your kind support , so I intend to create a summary of what I did, hoping it could help others !
I had already unlock previsouly my Bootloader (of course, else this topic would not exist) via Unlock bootloader from Huawei :https://emui.huawei.com/en/unlock_detail
I already had TWRP and Magisk installed and wanted to get the latest official firmware for my P20-PRO-CLT-L29(C432) - > CLT-L29 8.1.0.128(C432).
When intending to update (from my phone), it could not work (I allways boot back to TWRP), upgrade failed.

Start with : Do your Backup !
Removed then all security (screen unlock in developper mode =0) , no pin, no pattern, no password, no fingerprint, no faceunlock
Download the following set of files (that I've uploaded and ready to use) : https://mega.nz/#F!pEpRDB7R!pmPDjlqgtdHTs39gyLdJhg
(nota : my upload is quite slow, so please wait some hours before it is available)
It contains : HuRUpdater_0.3.zip, Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip, twrp_clt_0.1.img, recovery.img
, update.zip, update_all_hw.zip, update_data_public.zip
- On your phone create a folder including all files from the package above.
- Boot in TWRP
- Install : HuRUpdater zip from the folder where you had put all files (no issue with decryption, at least in my case)
Nota : I had almost an heart attack during installation as it did a reference to CLT-09... not CLT-29 but it works and this despite some strange error messages.
When achieved : wipe/cache dalvik.
Phone will reboot and optimize the apps.
In my case, I lost my root access and TWRP, so I've done it again, but normally it was supposed to stay when using HurUpdater
Install TWRP (again if needed) :
- Start your device in fastboot mode
- Install the recovery using the following command : fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_clt_0.1.img
Restart with this command: fastboot reboot
Important : As soon as you execute the restart command, remove the USB cable and keep pressing Volume UP, so the device will boot to TWRP. This is to avoid that the device boot to OS,overwritting TWRP recovery.
Reboot again in recovery
(re)Install : Magisk-v16.4-Beta.zip
Have fun,
JPh

THANK YOU! THIS WORKED SO PERFECTLY!
Until now, I tried the following:
Back up my data and apps to SD card with EMUI Backup App
Download OTA update (it first downloads the incremental ~100-200MB update) and click install
This doesn't work of course - TWRP tries to execute the update command but dies with error messages
Reboot, try downloading/installing updates again, the downloader then downloads the -FULL update
Extract recovery.img from update.zip>update.app
Flash stock recovery over TWRP
Initiate update again from Update App (System Settings)
Update runs smoothly, but bootloader is locked again afterwards
Restore from backup, flash TWRP again, flash SuperSU again
BUT THIS IS MARVELOUS! I will only lose SuperSU and Xposed, and given that HuRUpdater is provided with the correct filenames including TWRP renamed to recovery.img, I will just have to install SuperSU and Xposed again after updating the firmware.
It worked flawlessly with the stock firmware files from update.hicloud.com, and you'll usually find all the links a few hours after the release somewhere on the internet.

I have a few questions regarding this method to update :
Do I need to make a new backup using twrp after this update since the system files changed due to the update? (correct if i'm wrong i'm a previous iphone owner this my first android device)
Is the any method to force update 8.0 even it will erase every thing and after that just flash twrp and restore backup (i think all the methods mentioned are complicated for me)

I'd suggest HurUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...h-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279/page111
OTAs do work with an unlocked bootloader, but not with root or custom kernels.
Does this works with the P10? In the post i ddin´t found the P10.
And if it works, wich zip file i have to choose? And i have root
Thanks
Try my guide (Tutorial #2, Oreo to Oreo)
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
What also should work is flashing the system.img manually via fastboot.
For this extract the system.img from the correct firmware version with Huawei Update Extractor.
Connect your phone to your PC, boot into fastboot and flash with "fastboot flash system PATH\TO\SYSTEM.IMG".
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
Note for the next time: backup your system partition via TWRP before flashing the custom rom.
Also note that a factory reset is needed, without your phone won't boot, so backup your personal data before doing it.

Yes, it works on the P10. You can download the files with the firmware finder app. I'd recommend the newest oreo version for your customisation (e.g. B382 for C432).
But Jannomag's solution should work equally well.

Possibly you renamed the wrong customisation file (i did it once for the 09 while I needed the 29).
Which one did you download? And did you flash manually or did you use my script?
Download my oeminfo, it's from VTR-L29C432 Version 8.0.0.380, while the version doesn't really matter.
Flash it via TWRP using "Install" and "Use Image". Flash it to oeminfo partition. Then do my update script again.
I followed the guide to do Oreo to Oreo - basically wanting to get from custom Rom (fRomFuture B370) back to stock, so I chose the same firmware version to extract. Flashed everything with the script and it went fine and it boots and works.. but
The resolution seems to be off, too low and the right side of the screen is unresponsive to touch (about 1cm )
EDIT- Rolled back to fRomFuture B370 for now - need to find a way to get back to stock, as want to move on to Openkirin ROM instead
HI, i have a vtr-l29 root, i want to unroot(version oreo), how do i do it? what do i need to flash?. thank you Alex
I'm running NE2215_11_C.26. Its rooted. I let the OTA updater do its thing but it just gives me a generic error message with no information about what is wrong. Is it because I'm rooted? Could it be a region problem since this is a North American device in India?
yes. read the proper root thread.

Easiest / Fastest way to solve this issue is to unroot fully through Magisk (disable all modules too), reboot. Take the update. Reroot with booting a patched boot image. That will always be the most fool proof way to update this phone, even cross region from my knowledge.
if you are rooted you don't have to update via OTA but you have to use localupdate.apk after disabling magisk modules and uninstalling images from magisk! operations: disable magisk modules and reboot/uninstall magisk image/oxygen updater download OTA to root directory/install localupdate.apk and update from there without reboot/done update open magisk and click install reboot after OTA!

Android 12 Local update will allow you to update with no need to disable or unroot.
Just pull the update file to the pc, Payload it for the Boot.img and flash the Boot.img back though magisk.
Pull the flashed file back to the pc, do the local update and boot up fully.
ADB Boot the now flashed Boot.img Via the PC it and then direct install

@FKX1997 Prove it. C30 full rom doesn't exist for this model.

Considering you can install 2213 on 2215, that would be why

Op never asked to change regions, so therefore you're a liar trying to confuse people. You should apologize to the op and hope he didn't brick his phone following your lie

You're the one that came in with an attitude, been proved wrong, now in denial, and trying to pass the blame.
Go figure for someone who shoots from the hip.
I have a patched boot.img that I used to root C.26. Will it work on this one too? What's the location of the boot.img on the phone? I could get that via file manager since I'm rooted. Does the android 12 localupdate work for android 13 as well?
What's the latest full OTA version? Does payload dumper still work? I'm going to try to get the stock boot image just in case.

Best not to mismatch revisions. You can find a pre patched NE2115 C.30 in @g96818's thread. Otherwise you can make your own.
I personally pull them from the NE2213 full zips (since we don't get full releases at NE2215 anymore) and patch that via magisk, it works fine cross region as long as you ONLY boot it once for the magisk install. Never had any issues with this method.
How do I make my own boot.img? Does the payload dumper still work? The go version does not work with deltas. While I can use the easier methods I want to try making my own boot.img as a learning exercise.

I, personally, extract boot.img from NE2213 full Zip using FBE. This is the ONLY thing to use this tool for. Then transfer that to phone, disable all modules, unroot, reboot. Take the next OTA, reboot. Then go into Magisk, patch the new boot image you xfer'd earlier, copy that back to computer. Use ADB Fastboot to BOOT the image, and finally go into Magisk for a direct install. Reboot, and you're done.
