Hello everyone. First of all, I apologize if this topic is not in this section, since I am new to the forum.
I write because I'm considering the purchase of a Xioami MI 6X. I live in Europe, and I know that this phone is a Chinese version. As it is not yet known if the international version will come out (Xiaomi mi A2), I decided for this phone. Why?, because the design, processor, memory, etc ... I know that the REDMI NOTE 5 is very close but I still prefer the MI 6X. The question is, since I live in Europe, and this phone goes with a Chinese version, how difficult would it be to put an international ROM ?, that is, given that on the xiaomi website the international ROM of this phone does not exist, I can install a ROM of any other phone? or it is imposible? And second, is it so serious that it does not have an 800 band for 4G? I have seen that the phone have the other two European bands for the 4G, but not the 800.
Thanks.
The only European store avaible are in France and Italy but they don't have that version of the phone for the moment and maybe they will put it in the future because is recent, for the band this are the supported band: Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900). Becuse isn't avaible the 800 band I suggest to change the model to buy for another from the same producer but with the features that You need it.

Hi,
For this phone it exists a translated rom from xiaomi.eu for each european language, I'm french and I'm not yet decided to buy this phone but I think I will. 290 Euros 6G 128G red version.
Xiaomi.eu uses chinese developper version, debloat it, add playstore and many features.
Updates comes to your phone through OTA weekly the most of the time!
It's very easy and fun, each week an update.
As the phone is updated weekly the phone seems to be more stable with this rom than... Stable global rom! ahah!
To install the rom you have to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP.
The most difficult is to unlock bootloader if you haven't xiaomi permission for your MI account. I had to use a browser trick with a chinese proxy to obtain this permission but you have to do this only one time for your account and can unlock three phones by month. For each new phone, you have to wait 3 days after linking a phone to your MI account in order to obtain authorisation to unlock the bootloader of the new phone.
[Edit] For the 4G problem, it isn't a real problem and sometimes it's an advantage to not have B20 (800Mhz).
In France, I live in a little village without 4G, most of small towns around me have the 4G with the B20 only. I've got a MI5C (withoutB20) and a MIA1 (with B20). The phone without B20 is more efficient because in small towns it turns automatically in H+ or 3G and I've got a very good connection whereas the MIA1 is in 4G with a very bad speed because all people are connected in 4G!!!!!!
When I go in a bigger town I've got 4G without B20.
Conclusion: Without B20 the internet connection is better because you don't use the same antennas as all other users!!!!
Aliexpress Global store has 6x global versions with B20 here

That model also shows FDD-LTE Band 4. Seems like a typo. Only mi 6x listing that has band 4.
Unless there really are different mi 6x versions/models.
4G should not be a problem
Now the A2 and the A2 lite will soon be available in Europe. I would recommend getting one of these devices. - You will pay a bit more, but You will get warranty. Nevertheless, I recently bought the 6X for my GF, she does not mind MIUI, which is the major difference between the 6X and the A2. You can get the 6X from China, and flash an xiaomi.eu ROM, and it works very well.
The major concern about 4G should not bother You that much. Check what bands does your operator use and support either on their website or on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
if Your operator uses only B20, then the phone is not for You - the A2 should support it, tho.

Thanks
Mi 6x stable in Europe
hi guys, I've bought a Mi 6x in China in May. (128GB/6GB on stock English MIUI 9.5.15.0) It's stable in Europe, almost 100% on 4G, because one of the bands is missing it switches to 3G in certain area's. I like the phone but want to turn it into an A2, haven't found out how to do that. If anyone knows, please let me know.
Hello, thanks for your info, I have recently bought a 6X and I would like to switch to french, could you please let me know if it's possible and how , I am an amateur in this field

French is not available at the moment, the only European language available is English currently
You can search at xiaomi.eu there You can find muli-language transtated roms, and I would say regular ota, plus beta miui builds.
Hi to all
Do anyone flash A2 rom on mi 6x?
Is it possible?
Please share your experience...
i do. already two weeks for daily use and its ok. but i dont know if its OS run fast or slow because my previous phone was iphone 5c with ios 10.3.3 and the far i can say is the OS Android One 8.1.0 is not slow like i feel the same with ios 10.3.3

I didn't do my homework good enough and found out the uncompatibility (can't use mobile data, only voice/text) after I got the phone. I think I will need to flush the phone with a different ROM.
Does anyone know which ROM I should use, so that the phone will end up working with T-Mobile data network?
Thanks.
David
Are you sure?
I don't have this phone but I've had this issue with Xiaomi phones in the past, it turned out to be the APN settings.
I think it wasn't able to get the APN settings from the network, I found something online about my provider and it gave me 3G after I put it in. Then I found another APN for my provider and I got LTE working too.
k20 pro doesnt have bands 2 and 4
the newly released mi 9t pro (which is same as k20 pro) has bands 2 and 4.
i am not sure if Xiaomi has locked the bands on k20 pro with software or it's a hardware thing. if you can , return the phone

T-Mobile tech person was trying to walk me through to set APN. That didn't help. Eventually he asked for IMEI number and checked compatibility, which came back as only compatible with 2G for phone calls and texts.
Any moment 9T Pro firmware will be released, because the phone was released today so just way for it i think.

I put a mi 9t pro ROM, MIUI Global 10.3.3.1 Stable 10.3.3.0 (PFKEUXM) on my K20 pro.
It boots up fine and runs fine, except, I can still not connect T-Mobile beyond 2G. When using a China Mobile SIM card (which connects to AT&T network), the status page shows HSPA,
So this seems to be a bad news, that bands 2 and 4, which are supported by Mi 9T Pro, seem to be hardware locked, that using a Mi 9t pro EU ROM does not unlock them.
Anyone has any other suggestions?
Thanks.
That is correct, hardware bands are locked into the chip and cannot be unlocked. Return the phone or sell it, if it really doesn't support the bands you require.
Btw. in which country are you? T-Mobile operates in many countries and with many different bands. Typically you should get 3G, unless you are in the US I think.
Yes, US. This phone supports Band 5 and I see Band 5 is on the T-Mobile support band list. But further check shows that T-Mobile uses band 5 for extremely limited use.
Oh well. Will look into selling it used.
Hi, is it okay to choose k20 pro over mi 9t pro because i want to get 8/256? Although I'm gonna lose 1 band out of 6 here.

The global Mi 9T Pro (not the European version) will come with 8/256 GB. See this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/9t-pro-8-256-varient-t3964710
Some sellers are already selling the global version.
As for what's best, then it depends on what you'll be doing with it. If you intend to go with custom ROMs and can live without the missing LTE bands, then which version you go for won't make any real difference, but the Chinese K20 Pro will be the cheapest option at this time.
If you plan on sticking with stock MIUI then the global Mi 9T Pro will allow you to keep the bootloader locked, which will give you Widevine L1 and any banking/finance apps working without any issues.
Hi Everyone.
I'm on a new Xiaomi mi 9 for 2 weeks, but slow download speeds in 4G/LTE mode is killing me.
Speedtest gives me 1.2MB/sec
On my old Oneplus 5T, i got results from 5 to 8 MB/sec.
I searched a bit on the net but couldn;t find this issue for Mi 9. Anyone arround here had this issue ?
P.S.: i have Band20 working on my phone.

See what bands your carrier supports and compare it to your mi 9's bands
Also, what ROM are you using?

Seems that Vodafone romania is using band 1, 3, 20 (2100,1800,800). As i see in LTE Discovery, all 3 bands are used sometimes.
When i bought the phone it was on stock MIUI 10 and the problem was present. After a few days i got announced that MIUI 11 is available and i upgraded to that. Unfortunately nothing has resolved. So i decided to try the MIUI EU stable 11.0.4 rom. But download speeds are the same across all roms.
It is strange, cos i don't see anyone having these issues.
Here-s a screenshot:
