I wanted to share my experience using Apple's airpod's with Android, specifically the Oneplus 5T. Its been a little over 2 weeks and I have to say, they are the best.
When you purchase the airpods, it usually works best with other apple products such as an iPhone, ipad, macbook, etc.
When you use the airpods with android devices, they still work but you usually dont get all the cool features such as in detection, music stops when you pull them out, fast pairing when you just open up the case and it displays the battery level. I also have an ipad so I did test these features and everything works beautifully.
Here's my experience on 5T:
- I am on Oxygen OS Beat 11. Because of the features such as audio stops when disconnect from bluetooth and resumes when it reconnects which is not found on the stable version of the rom, it works well with the airpods.
- once the airpods are paired with my 5T, I installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=friedrich.georg.airbattery This allows you to see the battery level when you connect and disconnect from the airpods.
-I also connected the airpods to my ipad so I could configure the double tap gestures. I made the right to skip the next song, the and left to pause/play.
-There is also another app that can allow you to do (2) double taps to open google assistant.
-When connecting to the 5T (after being paired) it is pretty fast. Its not like 1 sec with idevice fast but almost around there. Its no where near the 5-7 it takes when I connect to other bluetooth devices.
- Sound quality is good as long as you airpods fit your ears and do not fall out. There are accessories you can buy to help they stay in place such as wingtips but again, if you the fit is uncomfortable, then you may have to look elsewhere.
I've used other wireless headsets such as jaybirds x3 and beats x, but those still have the wires which bothered me still and outside there was static and disconnects.
I also tried other true wireless earphones but they are so bulky. Airpods looked funny at first and prob still do, but I see so many ppl wearing them these days that it looks normal now. They are so small and convenient, charges in the case where it can last you the whole week depending on your usage. Since I am still trying these out and do have my eye on the Ticpods and Iconx, I will report back on my experience but so far, I really like the airpods.

That's great! It's awesome to see cross-ecosystem linkups
Just a couple things:
- Stable OxygenOS 5.1.4 has the audio features that you're talking about from Beta 11
- Almost all BT devices connect to the Oneplus 5T in less than 2 seconds in my experience. I have a couple of BT speakers and headsets, connection has always been nearly instantaneous. Maybe the delay that you're talking about is only in the Beta channel.
Thanks a lot. I have been wondering how well the Airpods work with Android devices. Those headphones are praised so much that they must be brilliant!
As the rumors suggest, we will see V2 in the near future with noise cancelation and waterproof.
Would def. be a reason for me to pick one up!

Excellent
The only reason why i bought the AirPods is for phone calls .. i'm from Egypt and our streets is very very noisy . i tried many bluetooth headsets but with all of them
the person i'm talking to was not hearing me and hearing all the noise around me ,
i tried my friend's AirPods for 4 mins phone call with my fiancee and it was an instant buy for me ....
man i can her clearly and i didn't tell her i'm using AirPods she just couldn'd notice any deffrence , she thought i was using the phone despite all the noise around me .
bought mine next day and using it with my OP3T
i still don't like the color and the shape of the AirPods i prefer the InEar silicon ear tips .

I recently rediscovered Pandora and I also found iHeartRadio. I found my favorite morning radio show on one of the stations. Sadly I haven't found my favorite local station that has the morning show. I work off and only catch part of it on Mondays while driving out of town. These with the Nexus S are awesome.
I'm clueless on Bluetooth headsets. I discarded the ear buds or disregarded them actually and used them for the first time this weekend after using a pair from the Galaxy S last week. Those hurt my ears but the NS ones I used last night were pretty comfortable and was even able to sleep on my side.
So on to the wants...
Price: 50 or less. Maybe more if you can provide a very good reason.
Sound Quality: I can't tell the difference between CD and MP3 so they don't have to be great, good will do.
Volume Control: I really want this on there. I'm going to need to hear people speaking to me while I'm listening to music, but I'm going to need to turn up the volume when I take a call.
Multiple Phones: I have the Nexus S as my personal phone but I'm a foreman at work and have a BB Curve that the company provides me. It would be pretty sweet if it would answer both phones. The BB rings more often. This would be the very good reason I mentioned above.
Charging: I'm not sure how this works on BT devices. Educate me.
Comfort: This is key for me. I'd hate to waste my money on something I'll put on a shelf and look at. Like I said the buds that came with the Nexus S are comfortable to me but I've never liked a pair that were like the ones in the Galaxy S.
I just did this same search. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find anything that supported A2DP for less than $80 (Canadian). I went with a BlueAnt T1, primarily because it has an Android app that does Text to Speech for SMS. Pretty happy with it, aside from the price.
I was in the same need as the OP but I've found the sollution in the Sony Ericsson MW600 BT headset. The sound quality is excellent, loud and clear, it has built-in FM radio which works very well and it can be paired with 3 devices at once. It also has volume control, play/pause, fwd and rew buttons on it.
You can use you favorite set of headphones with this little gadget .. I highly recommend it.
Went with the Sony Ericsson. Thanks for the suggestions. Should be here by next weekend or later. Free shipping for the win!
Maybe these might be something your looking for. I personally have them they have good sound have volume control, track skipping and phone button to take calls. Quality is ok, not as nice as some other headsets but not bad for the price. http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-S9-H...R0BW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318213100&sr=8-1
Looks like you made a decision already, but one I totally recommend is the Motorola S305. Its similar to the suggestion in the above post, but with better reviews. If anybody else is looking for some good Bluetooth headphones, check these out.

I've also used for about 2 years ,w/o any complain, the Nokia BH-503 - http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-BH-503-Stereo-Headset-Black/dp/B001DEWSWA
The only downside of those headsets is that you can not use them in a business enviroment or while driving so you will need a second BT device for those situations. That was the main reason I've sold the nokia one and bought the SE MW-600 ... it is meant for general usage (and for the FM radio ).
Jabra Clipper works with excellence.

Hi, I' looking for a wireless headset for gim use (running on the tapis roulant etc...)
Do you think this Sony Ericson can be used for this?
As long as you can clip it to some clothing it should work great. It is very very light so it should stick nice for any activity.
I'm using it also for mountain biking and it never fell off ... not even when I'm going downhill.
Bought it

So you have good reception? Every Bluetooth device I use cuts off when I cover my note with my hand or in my pocket. I have the bluebuds x
Mine was cutting in & out while connected to a bt device and had WiFi on. It stopped doing it though. I was about to take it back and get a new one
Has much better connection than my Nexus 6. Not as good as iPhone though. My iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 were the only phones that didn't cut out on my cars bluetooth and my motorola headsets I had at the time.

Good to know, thanks!
Bluetooth 4.1 works better with wifi. Good luck finding audio devices that use it though. Probably easier to shut off your 2.4ghz and connect just at 5.
Might be a bit late here. I've noticed how bad my Bluetooth connection seems to be from the earbuds AND speaker I got for Christmas. My Gear S2 I noticed on a bit but more passed it off as the watch depending on its WiFi more.
When I was trying the earbuds with my phone on me in bed, it was fine. However, even moving my phone to just past my waist, not even two feet away, the audio started breaking up.
Really lovely thing to find when you didn't know there was a problem after breaking your warranty :/
Which truly wireless earbuds are you using with the Note 8 and you would recommend? Looking to buy one.
Been eyeing the Beoplay E8. I am more concerned about audio fidelity (for a bluetooth device) over any other factors.

I've been using Beoplay E8's with Note 8 for the past 3 weeks and I've gotta say, I'm amazed! Audio quality is good, connection strong, and no issues so far. App lets you adjust audio and build is outstanding.
I've been using Gear Gear Iconx (2016) would love to upgrade to the 2017 model for better battery life.
I got the 2018 icon X. They can be paired with a device or even used without one. They sound good and have good touch controls.
I had the Icon X 2018, got them from B&H for $150, they were great at the beginning, but some annoynaces were like this:
1. No way to Power Off the buds without putting them back in the case, this means lots of charging/discharging the whole time.
2. Touch controls became finicky after about 2 weeks.
3. Totally subjective I know, but they hurt my ears, tried all combinations.
Back to Jaybird RUN, with latest FW Update the BT connection is rock solid, Volume is much higher than the IconX 2018, and the sound fidelity through the Jaybird App EQ settings is Superb to say the least, and I'm a musician so I know quality sound vs ... you know!
I just picked up the Blueant Pump Air.
Not bad at all and super light (4 grams)
http://www.myblueant.com/products/headphones/pumpair/
I have finally decided to pick up the E8. Once the Note 8 gets Oreo (which should be soon), i guess the lack of aptx will not matter much.
How is the audio delay when watching youtube videos with the latest firmware?
On a side note, there is Ashley Chloe's Fuse coming out soon. They have aptx and usb c charging! Would have considered them if they were to be available by mid february.
I have the Jabra elite sport and I really like them

1. They power off on their own when disconnected from blue tooth.
2. I've had them since Christmas and use them everyday. Touch controls work as good as they did when I got them. Not sure what exactly would make them "finicky" after working fine.
3. They literally have four different size pads. If you can't find a fit, then you got wonky ears lol.
Seems you quickly wrote off the IconX because you all ready had your mind made up. Which is fine, but let's be honest. The jaybird RUN is an icon X knockoff. And what's funny is I read more issues about the jaybird sounding bad and not fitting right. They even have the same pod case setup that Samsung uses. And surprise, surprise, they are just $15 less msrp than the icon X. You can tell they are trying to be the icon X. I'll just stick to the original that happens to also work seamlessly with my device. I'm also not sure what being a musician has to do with hearing sound quality, but hey, as long as you feel good about it...
I was looking at the B&O but ended up ordering the crazybaby nano off indiegogo mainly due to BT5 and future proofed.
These are shipping this month and the order is locked so have no doubt to question this date (as I am with other campaigns).

Hey, do you have issues? or really really long free and boredom time at your hands?
You criticised and analyzed every bit of word that I wrote, as if you are the master of the world, and you know everything and that you are God of technology. Grow the f up dude, I was just sharing my experience peacefully, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I loved the IconX but preferred the Jaybird RUN at the end, end of story!
Let's not forget that the Truely wireless "thing" is still a new "thing" they will mature with time and provide better options than what we have now.
I have gone through a bunch of them - at the holiday -, and it was like you cannot just get all the PROS from all of them into 1 set, each had their pros and cons, like anything else.
I was expecting the Bose to be the top, but with their open-ended design, the sound was very shallow and thin, maybe it was made like this by design to provide ambiance awareness or sth., Elite Sport was great too.

Is it just me or the headphones that I got with my M20pro are lousy?
They are white apple looking ones. They are realy uncomfortable to wear and the sound quality is mediocre. I don't expect studio quality, but for a 900-1000 euros phone, I expect decency at least. I can endure 40 mins to hour, then my earlobe hurts and I have to remove them to rest my ears. I never had any problems with any headphones, but tbh I allways used in-ear ones.
Even worse, I wanted really bad to have Bluetooth heaphones that have wireless charging option so I can use my M20pro to charge them. So I read that maybe the best option is to go with Huawei freebuds, bcs they are kinda meant for this phone. But I saw that they are the same design as this ear-destroyers of headphones. So any advice or suggestion is welcome.

I never used the ones that came with the phone as I hate having a cable going from my head to my pocket where my phone usually is.
As far as wireless goes, I'm not yet sold on true wireless as I find their batteries are too small. Yeah you can use the case but if I have to do so every 3-4 hours it's annoying (usually use them on a 8 hours work shift).
Anyway, all that to say a year ago I ended up ordering this cheap one while waiting for something good to come to the market.. and was really not expecting much but been super impressed for a pair of 30$ earphones. Sound is all right for the price especially because of their shape, they fit nice and tightly in your ear and have better sound isolation than most regular buds that come with phones (huawei, apple, etc) which I think helps improve the illusion of sound quality when in a bus etc. Battery last about 8h. Been very happy with them:

Great, thanks man.
I am actually okay with that 3 hour battery.
Small disadvantage, I am from Serbia, Europe and Amazon do not ship products to me.
I m using Funcl AI with my M20P, this supports APTx which is an added advantage in terms of bandwidth and sound quality. I brought it for $49 USD. Now its available on Amazon and indiegogo.com
Mine are really good!
The standard plug in headset that came with my mate 20 pro are really good!
I've just got some jabra evolve 65t ear buds and I prefer the sound quality of huawei's.
I've been tinkering about with all the sound controls and options from the jabra sound app and from my phone and still I can't get the jabra earbuds to sound as good as the huwawei standard headset.
Hi guys,
Quick question, do any of you own a pair of the AirPods Pro and use them with your Pixel 4 XL? I cant seem to get the microphone working. Everything else works as advertised. (Play/Pause/Noise cancellation/etc)
Thanks in advance,

And if this isn't the proper forum to ask? Maybe Reddit?

No, I can't imagine many people use that combination, but if you are unhappy with them and want noise cancellation buds, you are better off with the Sony WF1000XM3's

I don't have the new Pros but I do have AirPods 2 and they work fine in terms of the mic.
I know it's not too much help since it's not the same AirPods model but I thought I'd share anyway for you to hopefully get to the bottom of your issue!

Alright great, thank you. I initially set up the Airpods Pro with my Macbook. It gave an option of have the microphone auto switch between both buds. I think I'll try setting it to right or left always, and see if that works.
I'll report my findings.
I have the AirPods Pro and used them successfully with the Pixel 4 XL. My first pairing attempt was not good for some reason. I was getting a lot of feedback. Second time around it worked without issues. I handled several calls with them, also without issues. I would say if you're having problems you want to first try to forget and re-pair. If that does not work you should get the AirPods Pro checked when paired with an iPhone and see if the same issue persists. Last resort is you can always get them replaced at an Apple store and see if the new pair behaves better.

I had this happen on occasion with my AirPod Gen 1's. I did try forgetting/re-pairing my AirPod Pros 3x. The microphone just started working randomly with my Pixel 4XL a few days into owning them. I accidentally answered a call with them on out of habit and they worked.
If you have a friend with an iPhone or iPad pair them and let them sit charging for 30 minutes so that they update to the latest firmware. Mine were a bit glitchy at launch. After the latest firmware they're great, and I switch the airpods pros out during a call and the mic pics up whichever one was in my ear.
Pixel 4 here and great after the update.

Awesome, I own both an iPhone/iPad for work. How do we know if the firmware is up-to-date?

Slightly OT but I'm wondering how the AirPod Pros are in general? Thinking of purchasing.
Do the rubber tips give you that "sealed ear" feeling? Because I try to avoid that.
Also, with my AirPods 2, I notice I can't get max volume unless I disconnect them, enable absolute volume, reconnect and then disable absolute volume. Is this the same with Pros?
I'd love to hear your two cents!

I successfully upgraded my AirPods Pro firmware last night. I connected them to a power source and left the case open and sitting next to my iPad for about ten minutes before noticing it upgraded. I had no trouble using them on my way to work today. I'll use them on some calls during the day and report back my findings. Thanks for showing me this.

Coming from the first generation AirPods, I prefer the AirPods Pro. I do miss being able to tap to pause. However, I quickly got used to the new squeeze feature.
The AirPods Pro are in ear so they do form a "seal". That being said they have a noise cancellation and a transparency mode. You may prefer transparency mode since it lets you hear whats going on around you. I use this when I order coffee/food in public for example. It's quite nice.
As far as the max volume issue goes. I also experienced that on occasion with my first generation AirPods, but have not yet experienced it on the Pros.
Hope this helps.

Definitely helps!
I already setup a return for my Razer Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds. The case lid is super flimsy and overall everything feels like cheap plastic.
Not a fan of iPhones but gotta give credit to Apple for their computers and AirPods. They did a fantastic job with those!
