Since the hardware on both the chinese and the global version is the same, what difference does the software have and why can't a global rom be flashed on a chinese device with a locked bootloader?
Can a chinese version be converted to a global one or the opposite?

I have the Chinese M1803E1A (New 8gb/128gb edition) that's Chinese or English language. You can flash the Beta/Developer authentic Chinese ROM without bootloader unlock through the updater in settings with ease...
My model: M1803E1A, with preinstall global rom 9.5.13.0
Xiaomi does not sell International versions yet. That's what they told me.
Mine is M1803E1A with Global ROM as well. I did not even know this is a Chinese version since it has a Global ROM out of the box.

Honor buy as they told me they sell the Global version, but it will be available in two weeks or so.
Hello everyone, I have recently bought the Mi 8 from a vendor in Hong Kong. The Phone is currently on MIUI Global 9.6 Stable (OEAMIFD) and the bootloader is locked. Now my question is: If I unlock the bootloader, will I be able to lock it again in the future?
I'm aware that Chinese version phones can not be locked again after flashing the global version, but is my phone different due to it being shipped with the locked global version?
The model name is: M1803E1A

If you have MIUI Global Stable and locked bootloader, It means that you have Mi8 Global version and you can unlock the bootloader and relock it again as long as you stay on the MIUI Global version. Don't flash chinese Rom and relock the bootloader.
What is the difference between China and Global Firmware ?
Thanks
Im planning to buy mi 8 this week and im not sure if the unit is global version. the reseller says that the unit has global rom but china box. is the unit a global version ? considering that it has china box? or it is china version with global rom installed? thanks!
Chinese variant with unlocked bootloader and running Russian Global ROM.
As the title state, I'm wondering which variant is TKFEUXM 14.0.2.0; someone say Global, other says EEA (European); from which I found on Google, seems that "EU" in the name suggests EEA.
T - Android Version
KF - Device Code
EU - Region Code
XM - Sim Lock (carrier)
->
Tiramisu
Redmi Note 10 Pro
EU variant
Unlocked
It is confusing to me.
I purchased the phone (sweet) in the UK from mi/com/uk that had MIUI Global 12.5.8
12.5.8.0(RKFEUXM) but the ADB and Device Info HW app were reporting sweet_eea
adb devices -l
List of devices attached
[...] device usb:3-3 product:sweet_eea model:M2101K6G

The first update it received was 13.0.17.SKFEUXM so EU again.
Recently I installed Lineage 20 custom ROM that was calling to flash firmware V14.0.1.0.TKFMIXM which is the Global version.
All was good until I discovered that this newly installed system shows V14.0.2.0.TKFEUXM
Does the V14.0.1 Global firmware include V14.0.2 EU firmware?
Are there any differences between EU and Global firmware?
Can those be flashed like for like?
Is my device a global or EEA device?
It is all not clear. Phone purchased in the UK, with global software and EU firmware?
What is going on here?
Any clarification and advice appreciated.
