why is this happening

I edited nv_data.bin and flipped the 01 byte to 00 to unlock.
*#7465625# shows all unlocked.
So far the phone seems to work ok with just the 01 => 00 change.
The one-click solutions didn't work for me.
forum dot xda-developers dot com/showthread.php?t=1064978&highlight=ssnv&page=43
talks about 5 bytes including a # that can be changed to FF to remove the original carrier code.
Is there any reason I should remove the carrier code?
Is there any way to extract the hashed unlock/unfreeze codes if the one click solutions don't work?
Thanks for helping us understand.
depends.. do you have an att captivate or rogers captivate?
rogers captivates the unlock code isnt stored in the phone so many one-clicks solutions dont work by "giving you" the code. also most automatic solutions WILL NOT work on ICS/CM9 roms as it changes partition names ect... must be done from stock, froyo is easiest with the app " Galaxy_S Unlock " even with rogers phone. there is a second method where it edits the nbdata.bin for you! i used it when i first got my phone. worked like a charm! but im sure as you know... KEEP AND MAKE BACKUPS!!!!
Hi,
I've bought a new Xiaomi Mi3... it came with MiuiV6 installed, but it doesnt have IMEI!!
The IMEI on the back of it is OK, the phone is an original Xiaomi Mi3... i belive that the seller (ibuygou.com) made a fail flash of Miui V6 and the Imei was lost in the process...
I've tried a hard reset and nothing... i've flashed the lastest Fastboot via MiFlash.... and the lastest 5.2.13 Multilang ROM... i had problems with Wi-Fi connection and after this they were resolved... But the SIm recognition (does not recognizes it) and the IMEI Loss is still happening...
Anyone can help me?!? ibuygou.com is on spring festival hollidays
Via QPST i've downloaded the 00000000_0.qcn File... but once i don t know what is the bricked/crashed IMEI how can i change the Hex code for the correct IMEI?! is there any way to find out what Hex code i have to replace?!? so i can restore the 00000000_0.qcn File with the correct IMEI?!

Darkmed repair imei :good:
Hi guys
I've looked all over the internet on how to restore the IMEI and I don't seem to be having any luck. At the moment the IMEI under the Android system shows as '0' I and I want to restore it to the proper code that's printed on the inside of the phone and outside of the packaging box. I initially made a NANDROID backup using TWRP but no EFS partition that other phones use was backed up, so I have no idea how I can restore the IMEI information. I'm trying to install Cyanogenmod 13 but I'm disappointed that the incorrect IMEI is showing. I have even restored the entire TWRP backup and the IMEI is still showing as '0'.
Can some help me out here please.
Many thanks
Will
I just flashed CM13 and IMEI came back, but the phone works only in 2G now

Dear XDA users, long time lurker first time poster. Glad to be a part of the community.
Recently, I flashed my N920K with a stock rom (Nougat 7.0) and I encountered a IMEI null/null and no service problem.
I managed to change the IMEI to my original number rooting my phone, and using Xposed and IMEI Changer. Now my IMEI looks like this: 15 digit number/null. I still don't have any service and I suspect the other null is causing the trouble.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
I've downgraded my firmware to android 5.1.1. so I can unblock FRP (which I did) but I forgot to make a backup of the EFS file. After the FRP problem was solved I then flashed the latest stock ROM for the n920k (from sammobile) but IMEI was still null/null. Is there a solution to this problem?
UPDATE: I found my EFS folder via Root explorer and it's populated with files (including an IMEI folder containing some files). Strange because IMEI is non existent. Maybe I flashed a too recent firmware?
Found the possible problem: I'm missing mmcblk0p10 and mmcblk0p11 files in my dev/block/ folder.
Could this be solved if I get this files from some other N920K user? Anyone? I know it's a long shot but I'm desperate and talking to myself here
Some time ago I did flash stock android.
After the flash, I lost the IMEI, the phone does not read two SIM cards, because there is no IMEI, it is not displayed.
I have read and seen videos that it can be fixed, but in my case something is wrong and I cannot restore IMEI.
So what should I do how to restore IMEI?
XT1771 DS/MTK
EDIT: I do everything according to of this manual: https://androidmtk.com/use-maui-meta-tool
everything goes well, but the IMEI still doesn't come back.
