Hi all,
So you have unlocked the bootloader of your Xperia Pro MK16a/i and rooted it too.. You got a notification for a newer software to be available and you downloaded an over the air update, installed it, the phone says that it needs a reboot and to your surprise the phone doesn't turn on.
The symptoms for this problem are:
1. The phone vibrates for half a second when you press the power button and does that in a never ending loop
2. The green led keeps blinking when you press the power button.
This is not some method that i had developed but i just found a thread in a Japanese website and after struggling with the google/microsoft translation, i thought it would be better to help all the other users and not face all the struggles that i went through.
How to bring your phone back to life without the help of a Sony Ericsson service center? Keep reading.
Things that you need to have/check before beginning the process.
1. An Xperia Pro MK16a/i with the symptoms mentioned above
2. A USB cable
3. Flashtool
4. SEUS Software (which has been used for at least once for your phone)
5. Patience
First off, just rush to the SEUS installation folder in your PC to this path
C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\13740270\blob_fs
Look for a file named FILE_278020564 in that folder.
If yes, continue reading.
If no, i'm not sure if the files from other users work. Experts need to help regarding this matter.
Copy the file FILE_278020564 to any location that you wish
Download the software ConvertTool and copy and place the file FILE_278020564 into the ConvertTool folder and then drag and drop the file onto the file SeusDecrypt.bat
A .tgz archive of the FILE_278020564 will be made in the same folder. Now extract the .tgz archive created (Use 7zip archiver to extract the file)
A .tar file will be created now. Now rename that file as loader.sin
Now Extract the file Xperia Pro Relock bootloader.zip to another location and copy and replace the loader.sin file in the folder with the loader.sin that you just renamed.
Now its time to repackage the file so that it can be flashed onto your phone.
Download and install Flashtool software (you can easily find it, just Google it) and in the software go to Advanced>Bundle creation
Now select the folder Xperia Pro Relock bootloader, you'll be able to view the two files (loader.sin and preset.ta) in the folder list of Flashtool software.
Select each file and then click on the -> to move the files into Firmware Content, type in the details in the tabs above.
Device: MK16a (or) i [whichever phone yours is]
Version: 4.0
Branding: A.2.335 [Don't ask me why we need to type in these details because i do not know, experts can help if its not mandatory]
Click on Ok in the flashtool software and a .ftf file would now be created in the path shown below
C:\Flashtool\firmwares
Example: MK16a_4.0_A.2.335.ftf
Now Open the Flashtool software once again and click on the Flash icon and enter into Flashmode and the software lists out the firmwares in the firmwares folder of its installation. Select the file MK16a_4.0_A.2.335.ftf and then leave everything as default and press OK.
Do as the software asks you to do.
1. Unplug the device
2. Power off the device
3. Press the back button and hold it
4. Plug the USB cable.
The software shall recognize the phone and flash the relocked bootloader into the phone file system. The phone would not work now.
For the phone to work, you need to update your phone normally using SEUS and it would let you do an update without any The phone software has been modified and cannot be updated error. (I would prefer a Factory settings+Update mode of update)
Note: In case the flashtool doesn't detect your phone, you need to install PC companion software in your PC. Hopefully it installs the USB drivers necessary to detect your phone.
After the update is done, restart the phone and it should normally boot like it was in the box when you bought. Happy Ending..
This method is not mine and all credits goes to Mydroidn. I'm just translating for the benefit of others. Thanks for your help bro. You're awesome!
Or you can use this and enable OTA updates with unlocked bootloader without brick the device

Wait wait wait... The IMEI is gone?? how can the IMEI be gone? it is how the telecom directorate (Govt.) monitors each phone... thats the reason a couple of years ago all cellular devices without an IMEI (chinese imports mainly) stopped working (they could no longer make calls, but it could be used as a media player).
What You Did

I accidentally restored the EFS partition from one Nexus 5 to another and ended up with an IMEI of all zeros. It can happen. I was able to repair it with Qualcomm software, but the phone still doesn't see the network. Possibly an antenna issue...
Anyway, it can definitely happen. Also, it is illegal to change your IMEI (in the US at least). I would think it's OK to repair one however. I think the OP should specify that this method should only be used to restore an IMEI to the numbers listed on the device. These can usually be found inside the back cover and on the SIM tray. Check documentation for your model.
Help Needed !! IMEI Fix for Android One not working for me...
I was using CM11 sprout earlier and tried moving back to Stock. I lost my IMEI during this time. I have moved to stock kitkat by doing scatter loading of stock firmware. I have rooted my Android one with CWM recovery. I have used the above tools and generated the MTB_001 and created a zip and installed it with recovery. But, still i have my IMEI as invalid. I even tried replacing the MTB_001 file manually using ES_File explorer and giving permissions 777. Still no luck.
Can someone help me out on how to load proper IMEI as am completely blocked :crying::crying::crying::crying:
Thanks in Advance.
Great Guide! Liked it..Step by Step guide!
But i dont understand why people flash so much..where there is Official Lollipop & CM12 Available for us! Flash Freaking People! :/
You Should Tick All W-R-T All The 9 Then Only It Will Work & Dont Forget To Reboot

sorry, but i couldn't backup the 5.1 stock nvram but i will send you nvram.img from stock kitkat ROM. Flash and redo the procedure from scratch...and tell your device model also..
First point to note is that only full formatting makes the device lose IMEI,not normal data, system, cache formatting which is required for installing custom roms. When your partition table is messed up you get lots of errors when trying to wipe or mount any partition from custom recoveries, thus leaving you with only option to format before flashing stock rom through sp flash tools. It is after this flash that nvram loses your unique IMEI number. In my case I had backed up my stock rom through cwm recovery, now to restore my IMEI, I just extract the contents of /data/nvram/.....NVD_IMEI from my backup( three files in total) and push it to my to the same directory using adb push command, and it works for me.There is no need to push three cos only one file is relevant .But this is only temporary solution, cos after every reset you will lose your IMEI. It is better to backup the nvram partiton using dd command so that it could be flashed later, which would persist through installs.

OK Guys the e1 has been an absolute mare... to root or basically do anything with so heres a guide to finally root this thing and install a custom recovery WHOOO.......
OK FIRST THINGS FIRST... UNLOCK BOOT LOADER ABSOLUTE BEST WAY AND SAFEST WAY TO DO IT.........
Please note! It will only be possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases. You can check if it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device in the service menu by following the steps below:
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Go here and check whether your smartphone is on the “unlock bootloader” list or not. If your phone is not listed there it means that you cannot use this guide for unlocking the system
.
Also, on your handset type and dial: *#*#7378423#*#*; then go to “Service info -> Configuration -> Rooting Status” and check if the “Bootloader unlock allowed” says yes. If the “no” answer will be displayed then you will not be able to unlock the bootloader of your device.
Now, extract the file named “downloadinf.zip” (which has been downloaded before) on your computer.
Then, copy the obtained file (“android_winusb.inf”) to path c:\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver.
Click yes if asked to overwrite something.
Type *#06# on your phone and get the IMEI number; write it down as you will need it a little bit later.
Now, go here.
On the first page click on “Yes, I’m sure”.
Agree to Sony’s legal terms and then hit “I accept”.
On the next page enter your name, email and your device’s IMEI number and click on “Submit”.
An unlock code will now be offered; note it down.
Turn off your device and connect the same with the computer by pressing on the POWER BUTTON +vol down
Install the drivers on the path mentioned above (c:\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver).
Now, on your computer open command prompt: “start -> run -> type cmd”.
On the cmd window enter the following commands (one at a time): cd C:\android-sdk\platform-tools; fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version; fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY (replace key with the code obtained before).
That’s all, now the bootloader will be unlocked.
In the end, remove the USB cable and reboot your smartphone.
NOW OK WITH BOOT LOADER UNLOCKED ............
Firmware...............
it is best to roll back via flashtool to 20.1.A.0.47 firmware its more compatible with the custom recovery ...
download firmware..https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B1oU02TyhZkAald4OFQ5MEVMOFk&export=download
download flashtool...https://github.com/Androxyde/Flashtool/archive/master.zip
place firmware in in firmware folder in flashtool directory connect phone holding powerand vol down and flash
NOW THE HEAD ACHE ROOTING BUT STICK WITH IT AND WE'LL DO IT
download http://www.mgyun.com/en/getvroot ( ok i understand people are sceptical of this but trust me it works it wins half the battle)
it will root xperia e1 alas! you will only have limited root privleges ((and it will install 2 apps easily uninstalled))) and it will install its own su app which does work but a bit annoying soo...
you can remove this via a delete system apps app, you do have enough privelages to do this....
install root checker it will say you dont have full root priveleges but su installed ? ok dont panic
CUSTOM RECOVERY
THIS WILL GET THEM FULL ROOT PRIVELEGES WE HAVE BEEN LONGING FOR ...
OK DOWN LOAD THIS RECOVERY IMAGE ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3036643&d=1417104506
NOW
1. extract zip to somewhere on your computer & place img in the directory of fastboot.exe
2. Connect your phone in fastboot mode press vol + button while connecting to USB
3. Flash via fastboot ON FASHTOOL note to enter fast boot mode HOLD POWER AND VOL UP BLUE LIGHT SHOULD BE SOLID...
4.REBOOT..
OK NOW FINALLY
REBOOT INTO RECOVERY ....HOLD POWER AND VOL DOWN
NOW NAVIGATE TO ...ADVANCED MENU
OK NOW GO TO RE-ROOT SYSTEM (superSU) PRESS THIS REBOOT PHONE GO TO PLAY STORE RE-INSTALL SUPER USER APP
ROOTED...........................WHOOOOOOOO ps Check this with root checker

How to Write IMEI ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a serious scenario but what you need is Mobileuncle MTK IMEI Write Tool (PC Software) & Mobile Uncle Tools (Mobile App).
1. Download & extract the Mobileuncle MTK IMEI Write Tool (PC Software) file on your PC.
2. Open the folder & run the file as administrator, which will lead to the pop up of the following window.
3. The simple program is not in English, so simply enter Y & press enter.
4. Next it will ask to enter the IMEI which you can locate either on your device box price sticker or on the sticker on your device below the battery. In case its a dual SIM device, it will ask you to enter IMEI2. Punch in the correct IMEI & press enter.
5. Once you punch in the correct required details the program terminates & creates a backup file by the name of IMEI.bak in the folder.
6. Copy this file to your device SD Card.
7. Download & install Mobile Uncle Tools on your device.
8. Open the app & click on IMEI Backup Restore (MTK).
9. It will open a new screen where in Backup & Restore options are listed. Use the any of the Restore option.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT NOTE :
I did it successfully on my Lenovo K3 Note K50-t5 (China version).
Carry out each instruction very carefully & exactly as directed.

Hi, second file MobileUncle says it requires password at winrar. Which one is it ? Thanks in advance
Helllo, like the previous poster, I too get a password protected message when I try to unzip the second file. So I downloaded and installed the latest version from the Mobileuncle web site.
But when I click on IMEI Backup Restore (MTK) I get a "not supported" message.
The phone is, of course, Lenovo K3 Note. I lost the IMEI when I reflashed it recently.

forum.xda-developers.com
And I found a fix
Requirements--
1) Mtk-SU Easy https://github.com/JunioJsv/mtk-easy-su
2) This Version of MIUI
Redmi 6 https://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.2.0...XM_20200102.0000.00_9.0_global_5bc2bc0cf8.tgz
Redmi 6A
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.2.0.PCGMIXM/cereus_global_images_V11.0.2.0.PCGMIXM_20200102.0000.00_9.0_global_5bc2bc0cf8.tgz
3) A backup of your NVDATA or any IMEI changing app I don't really know the rules here about such apps soo do a little bit of googling (NOTEONT CHANGE IMEI ONLY PUT THE ORIGINAL IMEI OF YOU DEVICE)
4)SP-Flash Tool
ONE THING IF YOU HAVE UNLOCKED BL JUST GO AHEAD AND GET MAJISK AND USE IMEI RECOVERY APPS WITH ROOT
Let's Begin(UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER PEOPLE JUST USE FASTBOOT AND ON PC OPEN flashall.bat which is inside the folder once extracted then continue from step 2)
1) Flash the above version MIUI using SPFLASH TOOL
2) Setup the phone with NO INTERNET after setup connect to internet
3) Download and install the mtksu easy app latest version also install majisk manager 8.07
4)Open the mtksueasy app and click on the hash button to get root
5) After that go ahead and install either root explorer or IMEI changing app
6)
For people having NVDATA backup (if from twrp extract using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.mk.twrpbackupextractor)
After that install Root Explorer and give it root preveleges. Then open /vendor/nvdata/
There copy all stuff inside and keep inside a folder as safety then go ahead and delete it all from /vendor/nvdata (mount it as r/w) next go ahead and paste all stuff from your NVDATA BACKUP INTO THE FOLDER. Then reboot.
For people who are using IMEI CHANGER APP just go ahead and type your original imei (Get it from the box)
7) Your done actually u can now unlock bootloader.
No need for any engineering roms or what not
I tried to use SP flash tool and it failed because of missing authentication file.

Click to collapse
use mtk bypass tool by mct team (free tool) google and download and open then click bypass then connect to pc then press volume up+power (make sure phone is powered off) it will bypass the auth and then you can use sp flash
make sure to download latest version of tool becuz old version required an extra step of installing drivers
Thanks for the information, I will try again.
