I'm looking to buy a new smart watch. I currently have a rooted Note 8, so I know Samsung Pay won't work on the phone. But if I purchase a Gear S3, and leave it unrooted, will Samsung Pay work on the watch?
I don't think Samsung Pay will work on your Gear S smartwatch as Samsung Pay needs to be linked to your cell first before it can be linked to your Gear S.

I have n stock Note 8 and stock Gear S3.
Both not rooted.
I have Samsung Pay installed on my Note 8,
working fine.
I had to install Samsung Pay app and then Samsung Pay app, updates to install the Samsung Pay framework.
Further
if you got a Gear S3,
it requires a Samsung Pay Gear "plug in" app (dependant) on
Samsung Pay Framework on the Note 8.
On top of that, your Gear S3 firmware must also be
updated for watch to work.
My issue is, that Samsung has not updated my Gear S3
firmware for my Region (CSC).
So my Gear S3 cannot do Samsung Pay.

Hey there, I purchased this phone a few months ago and since galaxy gear was launched I was wondering if I could use it as where I live it's common to see phones being stolen when somebody sees you are using the phone while driving. However according to what I found the galaxy great won't be compatible with my phone. So is there another smart watch compatible with our phone? thanks in advance

as far as i know it could work with gear and even with sony smartwartches....
Actually my friend said the samsung gear would work on any samsung galaxy phones. But Samsung says its intended just for the Note 3.

So I have a galaxy s8 and im looking to buy a new watch to go with it.
The galaxy gear s3 is looking like the most appealing option BUT. Since my galaxy s8 is rooted and has KNOX tripped, I cant use samsung pay on my phone. Does this mean I wont be able to use samsung pay on my watch too?
Or alternatively, will I just be able to use android pay instead of samsung pay on the gear s3?

If your phone is rooted you are unable to use android pay unless it was rooted (KNOX tripped) but no longer rooted. Then Samsung pay won't work but android pay will however gear apps (Tizen OS apps) do not have an app for android pay if you want that get a android watch OS watch.
In my option they don't look as good as gears so I cope with just using android pay from my phone since the phone has to be on me for the apps to work anyway.

I can't seem to find it on the Samsung gear app store. I can't use Samsung Pay because not a lot of shops here support it and neither does my bank.
Is there any way to do it? I bought it over the Huawei watch 2 because I thought having NFC meant I could use Android Pay. Are there custom android ROMs that can be installed on it?

Would i be able to use Samsung pay ONLY on the gear s3?
I don't care about Samsung Pay on the Note, because i can just use Android pay
But i see that you can't use android pay on the gear s3.
So the question goes as follows can i use Spay on the gear s3, if my phone is modified?

Is there anyway to get android pay on the gear s3?

if your gear s3 relies on the note 8 as the main source then you cant, since you tripped knox
if your gear s3 has a standalone samsung pay set up then you can since you cant trip knox
Hi. I bought A smartwatch from Samsung. Its Gear S3 to use his apps I need to parr with my phone and download Samsung Gear S3 But on google play it says its not compatible with my device. I checked internet and nobody have the same issue. Any clues?
