Hi guys,
I'm new here and want to get yalls opinion and expertise if the unlocked US version Note 9 will work fully on tmobile network? I got it from b&h photo as it has a lot of freebies (Dex and the new dual charger) plus there's no tax.
No. 1 priority for me is if tmobile band 71 will work on this us version note 9.
Thank you in advance for all your comments and suggestions.
Great question. As far as I can tell, it has Band 71 (600mhz)...
I think TM uses some of the lowest frequencies over other carriers, like their cement drilling band 71....aweosme.
See pic attached.

It should work with all bands. Just don't expect HD voice, VOLTE or Wi-Fi calling to work.
It will absolutely have Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. I've had several unlocked phones with them and they all offer both options. T-Mobile is very open to outside devices.
I appreciate y'alls reply.
I've read you can flash tmo's firmware with this unlocked phones to get tmo features, is that true?

For the Note 8 it is as long as it was Snapdragon.. Don't know about the Note 9.
It'll work

What t-mo features are you talking about? The only one's important enough I'm thinking of are VOLTE and wi-fi calling which the unlocked model supports.

Has this been figured out? My wife and I bought unlocked Note 9's yesterday. We have wifi calling, but my wife misses having video calling. So is it possible to flash the tmobile firmware to enable that and any other missing features from the t-mobile note 9?

Yes you can flash the tmobile firmware as long as the device you have is the US Snapdragon Note 9.

How can I check what band is my phone using?

Use either LTE Discovery or Cell Mapper, both can be found in the Google Play Store.

I just noticed that the service is like just a little worse, you most likely wont notice a difference.
Anyone play around with the idea of loading the T-mobile S8 firmware onto the Exynos international version of the phone to see if that would be enough to get Wifi calling working? Wifi calling is essential to me since I work in a building with great wifi but no service.

You cannot install Snapdragon firmware on an Exynos based phone. This will lead to a brick. The only thing from a Snapdragon firmware you can install I believe is CSC but don't quote me on that.

I was also wondering if flashing the tmobile CSC to the 955F would enable wifi calling. The only LTE band that the Exynos variant doesn't have that T-mobile uses is 66 and from what I've been able to research that's not sued int he NYC area. But wifi calling is critical. I use it a lot to call back home when I travel abroad.

That is incorrect. The 950F does support band 66. I took this from service mode on my 950F

Thanks but there's something weird about your screenshot. Band 32 is out of order and is not used on any Samsung phone. I think that should be 42. I find it hard to believe that there is a typo in the service menu.
I was using frequencycheck.com and willmydevicework.com as my sources. I agree that on this point I'm positive that the 950 and 955 should be the same.

Yeah it's strange and I do think it's a typo. But that's what service mode shows, regardless of which SIM I select.
With the exynos you'll also lose VoLTE. Meaning in areas where T-Mobile is using B12 LTE to extend the range of its network (B12 LTE 700mhz goes further than their EDGE and HSPA network (1700,1900,2100mhz) so if you're in an area and only have B12 LTE signal you won't be able to make or receive calls or texts. And in an emergency scenario if there was no other network for your phone to roam to, you also wouldn't be able to dial 911. Kinda an important feature imo.
I use the 930F on t-mobile and will likely do the same with the s8. If you care about rooting, you should get a 950f. It can be rooted easily and with root, you can get TKKG1994's CSC selection tool and use it to enable VOLTE/Wifi calling). If you aren't going to root, then the carrier phone is good.
I don't know how gigabit LTE is affected but I doubt in 2017 this is a game changer.
Thought this phone was suppose to come with it. Received phone from EE on a monthly contract previous Samsung s7 had it but the XZ2 doesn't. Any ideas. Thanks

I'm using T-Mobile in the US and had WiFi calling and VoLTE available on my S8+ but it's not an option on my H8266. Doing some research it would have to be approved by T-Mobile for it to work with either of those and so far the XZ2 is not on the list. Thank you for the info. Sony has been ignoring this fact for a while, none of the premium phones work on T-Mobile US VoLTE. It is not a certification matter as Chinese phones such as OnePlus work out of the box with T-Mobile US VoLTE making this very clear a Sony issue.
If you are on T-Mobile USA, you will have very limited coverage due lack of VoLTE support. Please be aware before you making a purchasing decision with Sony phones.
I've volte enabled and i was used previously with other phone but i can't use with xz2. Btw i tried to open phone menu service from dialer but provisioning volte option it's lock also i manually create a ims apn for volte but when i save the apn disappear so i give up.

I just finished chatting with T-Mobile support and received this message: "Alright, I apologize about that brief delay. I spoke with a tech care department. They did confirm that our network will support the device! That's awesome news!"
So, it appears that T-Mobile has certified the device for use on their networks (in addition to which, according to the phonearena . com product info page it supports all necessary bands).
Try to update carrier service apk from apkmirror. Volte still not working for me but i see improvements on signal and wifi switching from mobile data is more fast

i didn't use the flash method; couldn't find a flashable file with an ATT CSC for the Note9. so...i extracted and copied-pasted the ATT CSC folder/files from ATT's most recent full ROM and manually edited the necessary dat files in the omc and /efs/imei folders on my phone. that being said, neither ATT nor T-Mobile WiFi calling and video calling work, but that's not an issue for me. i use the Google Dialer and Duo for video calls.

thanks for the link; i figured out the codes shortly after posting my message.
Rather than turning off band that provider might actually use in some situations, try turning off band that you possibly won't use, like band 39, or whatever.
See if that fixes preference to band 4, while still maintaining band 12 for odd situation.
I'm only saying this, because in Canada for provider freedom, band 66 is the fastest, and international phones actually prefer to connect to band 4 which is the slowest for this particular provider. Since we don't have access to modem settings since oreo, I found that disabling any of the unused bands (30,46,39 whatever), brings back proper behaviour like Canadian model counterparts, choosing band 66 majority of times, while still maintaining band 4 for building penetration.
Just try, give a few minutes, check on *#0011#, see if you're still defaulting to 12, or something else with more throughput, might work, might not.

So when I first got my P20 Pro I had VoLTE enabled and working fine but one day I noticed the HD notification was missing the dialer app no longer had the HD call button. Just noticed that when I make a call my device does actually revert back to the 3G network and I can no long "multitask" online while on a call. Of course I've also lost the ability to make video calls.
I've checked the wife S7 and can still make calls over LTE with that one. So now I'm wondering if it is the Bell network or my P20 Pro? A quick check on Bell support site shows a list of devices compatible with their VoLTE, the list shows older devices but newer ones also, P20 Pro not listed. Can't see Bell deactivating VoLTE specifically for this device, or at least I'd hope not.
Anybody else on the Bell network have this happen or is VoLTE working for you? Before I factory reset I wanna know if it's just me.
FYI. Locked and stock

I'm starting to think the Bell network (Virgin) is the culprit here and not the device (fingers crossed). Curious as to why Bell would pull VoLTE support for the P20 Pro? Hopefully ain't no political thing (lol). Wonder if it's anything to do with Pie update and compatibility. I could say I lost VoLTE on my device almost a month now. I've tried everything in the book on my end even factory reset with no resolve and am more convinced now it's happening on Bell's side on things. Which really sucks cause I hate their support system but need to contact them find out what's going on with my service.
Thanks for the answers folks. Keep them coming.

Google about this. Rogers and Fido do the IMEI whitelisting so if you don't buy a device from them you are out of luck

Only Rogers(Fido) blocks you from using their IMS
I've been wondering the same. Got my P20 Pro with Bell a couple of weeks ago. About a week ago, I noticed "HD" at the top left of my notification bar, but it only lasted a few seconds and never returned. After that, I discovered that I'm always connected to LTE, but when I make a call it drops to 3G, and then after the call it reverts back to LTE.
When I insert the Bell SIM into my S7 Edge, it stays connected to LTE at all times.
How is it possible that it showed "HD" very briefly several days ago and never came back? Perhaps Bell was just testing HD on the network for a few minutes? I've always had VoLTE enabled in the settings.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I have two friends with an iPhone 8+, one on Rogers, the other on Bell, and they both drop to 3G when on a call.
Thanks for the info. I will contact them.

Please keep us posted!
Just got of the phone with Rogers, the Support specialist tried and also followed up with their network specialist, it is a no go, this was what they said:
"Since the device is not a Rogers device it wont allow VoLTE calls and the VoLTE notification is not being pushed to this IMEI. This gets enabled on the network and since the device is not Rogers it wont allow for it to register. So just make sure when you purchase the phone its from the same carrier as the one you are looking to use as it can cause compatibility issues. All phones get a pre-configured file when they are sent to Carriers and based on the carrier provisioning of the device it becomes compatible to the network."
It looks like some of us are out of luck.

I've had this device for about 3 months now and would say it's been about 1 month since I've lost VoLTE service
Just got off the phone with Bell support. Didn't really get anywhere as expected, other then many apologies and an open service ticket to try and find out if it's their end or the P20 Pro. Should hear back within 2 weeks. Again, as expected.
Fido sucks.. might switch to Rogers soon... my work has a ok deal.. $55/mo for 6gb and unlimited calls/text canada wide.
I guess I'll talk about the elephant in the room. Is the USA getting VoLTE on this year's iteration? Natively without rooting of course.

Crazy detailed review. Great work!

I'm using the ROG Phone 3 on Google Fi (so, T-Mobile) and it does not currently support VoLTE, it seems.

I just saw this today. I wonder if T-Mobile is going to whitelist this phone.

Don't get your hopes up, but I asked them to fix this urgently since there's not much time left before T-Mobile kicks us off..

Your not using the a model. There is an a, and a b model. The a model has full support of TMO bands, and volte.

Doesn't matter. They are not blacklisting phones without official volte. If it supports volte, which the a version does, it will work.

How do you what the version is? Is it a different model number or the Global vs US? How can someone make sure they get the correct version?

Do you know for sure if Model A support VoLTE? I'm pretty interested in this phone (coming from a Razer Phone 2), but the lack of VoLTE is kind of a killer (especially if T-Mobile is going to mandate it). I tried contacting Asus's support about it, but the guy I got in chat really didn't seem to know anything.
Also, does anyone know if it supports wi-fi calling? Since T-Mobile's coverage isn't... always the best... this is also a pretty important feature.

VOLTE, yes, VOWIFI, probably no, but i'm sure devs will get it working. Im also sure the guy who got VOLTE working on the rog2, can get it working, IF Asus drops volte before the US release.

Thanks. If Asus won't be implementing it officially, then I guess I'll wait for a custom ROM before buying the phone that does enable it.
Anyone know when this will be on ASUS U.S. store? I thought it was supposed to release july 22nd but cant find it anywhere except ebay coming from HK
Hi everyone!
I am considering to import Asus Rog Phone 3 CN version with Global ROM from China to France because it would save me around 400 euros.
Please suggest there would be any major issues with such imported devices? Has anyone imported smartphones from CN with Global ROM? Please let me know. Your inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I heard on Reddit it was coming in September, but I think it's the same as last year where they do a surprise release in the store.
Comes out in September in US
