This is the unlocked USA 512gb model. I've seen that this model will have possibility for dual sim card. Do we know if this would be active dual sim card? Debating if I should get google voice for work phone number, or if I can stick my current sim card and have dual sim cards.
Also - NOTE 9 HYPE!
Where did you get that information from?

Hm, I did see something about that here - https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note9-9163.php It looks like they changed the page and added more data to it. I'm starting to believe that the USA version does NOT have dual sim capability - only 1 sim and 1 microSD card.

Right now I'm using iPhone 6 plus. N6 will arriving today. Do I need to activate the new sim that came with N6 or just remove my iPhone sim and transfer to N6? I'm wondering if the system will automatically detect I'm using the correct device.
You just insert your sim. That simple.

It depends on your carrier. If your iPhone 6 Plus is on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, you can just swap the SIM card and everything will work. If you're on Sprint or US Cellular, you can swap the SIM but you'll have to call the carrier first and have them pair your old SIM card number with your Nexus 6's MEID.

On att it already comes with a sim inserted. Just call and activate from your current phone.
use the same SIM... or if it came with a SIM inside, you can change your SIM. the newer SIM the better
are there any real differences between the dual sim and single sim? besides the obvious 2 sims vs 1 sim difference lol.
what about differences between the models (clt-al00, clt-l29, clt-l09, etc)? if it helps, I am in the USA and T-mobile. I am just trying to find the best one that covers most bands if not all and prefer dual sim. any advice and help is appreciated thank you in advance
Yes there is a difference.
The difference is one accepts one sim card and the other accepts two sim cards

Thank u for ur reply.. But I have already stated the obvious 2 sims and 1 SIM differences. Anything else besides that?
It might be possible that the only difference is the card slot. It might still work with 2 sim cards with the right sim card adapter for two sims. Afaik it worked for older models.

Thank u.. Do u know if there's any difference from international and global? I'm trying to buy the p20 pro and I dont wanna end up buying one that doesnt work for my service provider in USA.
I have some relevant questions/thoughts on this. I noticed that some phones are listed as having band 41 and some are not (on eBay, varying model numbers of this phone). Now that T-Mobile might be roaming on Sprint and visa versa, band 41 does actually make a difference since the OP is using the phone on T-Mobile. Does anyone know if this is just a mistake on the listings? The official Huawei site lists band 40, but not band 41.

Band 41 is listed as well at least for some models. https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model/6fe84965 another good site to see the difference between the different models is http://www.phonemore.com/huawei-p20-pro/models/1817 this one includes the different models, not all though as CLT-L04 is not included, and their specs including the bands for each of the different models. Some of them even support CDMA so in theory should be compatible with Verizon or Sprint.
I have CLT-L04
and i cant find any info about it!!!
Mine has Cat 16/ Cat 18, and it came with US charger, dual Sims and Google now. Model Number CLT-L29. Bought it from sobeonline1 on eBay. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wn539su2m077hpu/Screenshot_20180516-125141.jpg?dl=0

CLT-L04 is intended for the Canadian market. L29 is not so it may not have the LTE capabilities in North America while L04 would.
I thought it wasn't for sale until today (the 17th).

Just wondering will dual Sim adapter work with single Sim phone? No software that indicates any Sim settings
Single sim doesn't get updates.
I'd like to jump in here. I just got the CLT-L04 today. I just started working for a Canadian company this week and I will be stationed in the US in Atlanta. I want dual SIM capability so that I can keep my personal phone number but not have to carry 2 devices. he SIM card tray only came with the ability to support a singel SIM card. Can I just order a dual SIM card carrier? is there anything special I need to know or do on the phone to support dual SIM's?

My single SIM CLT-L04 already got an update once. C792. Not carrier branded.

You need to convert your phone to dual SIM variant using paid software (which may require a bootloader unlock code that Huawei no longer provides) and then use a dual SIM tray.
I did the above and my single SIM phone is now a fully functioning dual SIM phone. There's really no difference between the two variants other than software and that tray. The tray alone will not work.
On my previous Note 8 ( unlocked T-Mobile) system firmware would automatically change boot logo and settings Inc carrier bloat when another carriers sim card was inserted.
Does anyone know if the will be possible for the note 9?

if your able to brows to odm/omc and see a whole bunch of 3 letter csc code folders then i would think(at least the possibility is there), if no change, remove sim, factory wipe and caches, then boot with no sim once, shutdown and insert sim and boot. TMO is part of the XAA region so every other carrier should be there. but nothings beats having a look at the folders in device just to be sure.

I'm not sure I explained myself clearly. All this was done automatically on the unlocked note 8 which was originally on T-Mobile USA.
When I insert a Sprint sim card inside of it, it would automatically configure and become a Sprint branded note 8. If I swapped the sim for a T-Mobile one it would automatically change to a T-Mobile branded device again.
I believe it's called brand switching.

That's interesting. Wonder if anyone with a USA carrier firmware model has inserted another carriers sim card to see if rebranding occurs.?

Hello,
I ordered a blue 512GB Note9 in Friday and it will arrive this Thursday morning to me. Today the man I ordered it from called and said that they don't have the Dual SIM version and asked if it's ok to ship the single SIM one. I asked him if the single SIM one has a micro sd slot and he said it does so I confirmed the order. But I'd like to hear from you guys who maybe have that model, is there a card slot in there?
The reason I ordered Dual SIM edition was because I thought that only that one had the slot (and that was available in all places I've ever seen a Note9 in on the web). So I don't care for having 2 SIMs at all.
mine does have one sd slot N960F

no they have 2 always and a sd slot there is always 2 sim slot 1 sd slot
You only have one IMEI number though.
Dual sim cards have 2.
This was a problem when people were trying to get the second sim card slot to work with a 2nd sim though I'm not sure if a solution was found...
Hello,
I am willing to get the new Xperia 1 II. I am living abroad, and for many reasons, I kept my native country's sim to keep my line open. Currently, I own two phones to have both lines up. But this new Xperia seams to be released with a variant getting dual sim feature which is what I am looking for so I could replace my LG V20 and LG G8 for this amazing phone.
I read online that this phone comes with different variants:
XQ-AT51
XQ-AT52
XQ-AT72
SO-51A (NTT DoCoMo)
SOG01 (AU/Okinawa Cellular)
On this website https://www.xperiablog.net/2020/04/...eria-model-number-structure-for-2020-devices/ they tend to say that this XQ-AT52 model would be the dual sim variant, but I cannot find any online resources to confirm this.
Is there anybody who knows yet what is the dual sim variant so I don't get wrong while ordering?
(I really hope it's not only the korean version to get this dual sim variant...)
Thanks!
Hello,
I come back to you guys to have some updates about this topic since now they released the phone and preorders are available, maybe someone has some details about this feature.
I really want to know if the variant sold in Europe is supporting 2 sim.
On GSMArena, they list the phone as Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) but on sony.de, sony.fr, sony.it they list it as SIM NUMBER
Single SIM.
On B&H bhphotovideo, the phone is proposed as Sony Xperia 1 II Dual-SIM 256GB Smartphone (Unlocked).
Why would they sell a dual sim capable in America and a single sim in Europe?

The model selling in Taiwan is XQ-AT52 with dual sim ( 5G/4G compatible ).
If you put 2 sims, it runs in 4G mode, 5G is only working when only one sim card inserted.
5G I only works with 1 SIM card inserted? That's not very good design.
Also, can you please try to switch between SIM card for data, does it require a reboot to active? I used to own Sony phones and they all require reboot when switching between SIMs, which is very inconvenience.
I use other brand dual SIM phone now and they don't require reboot when switching between SIM.

Do you know if the only difference between the single sim and duel sim variations are the sim tray provided with the phone and the software installed. I am wondering if I got a single sim version, if I could flash the international firmware and replace the tray with a dual sim version

Normally it should work as previously it was like that.
but the SIM holder looks different to Xperia 1 dual Version
You don't need to reboot to change or swap sim, that's what i heard and that's why you don't need a pin to open the tray.. you just need to pull it.
I guess the tray for single sim is different but software is different too.. means software can handle dual sim..
I know some people with Samsung single sim model, they put 1 sim in tray and stick the second sim on the microsd. It becomes a dual sim with micro sd.
But you have to be very good to unstick the sim from original card and stick on the microsd without damaging your sim
HI all
has anyone found a way to keep both the Sims running even when the 1st has 5G on.. Like let the 2nd sim run at 4G or 3G atleast.. but why does the 2nd sim has to be off or go off when the first one runs at 5G.
I keep wanting to use 5G at all times on my first sim.. but why should my 2nd SIM stay off. this is mind boggling why would SONY implement this on a Premium Flagship while others Like Xiaomi and others have better sim management options even when 5G
this is the only thing stopping me from getting this phone although i love it.
on a separate note.
Also someone has any idea if the Special Frosted edition of this phone releasing in Japan with 12GB RAM will be dual or single sim ?
