Root on Note5 w/o usb port connection - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm using a Note5 (SM-N920G) with a USB port ~almost~ dead... Can't charge on fast mode, can't connect on PC and some ****s...
My question: Can I root w/o getting my Note5 connected to PC? How I do that?

Not possible, to use Magisk you first need to change the recovery; the same for CF Auto Root. Odin is needed in both methods.

Can you flash a stock rom via stock recovery?

No. Use Odin. I'm sure it'll work. Use a different usb port or a different device. Ensure it's usb 3. And also fast charge only works on the dedicated charger, unless there's some weird kernel bug.

unroot, no usb

My Galaxy S i9000 (running 2.3.3) won't connect to my computers via USB. Is there a way I can unroot (and get rid of a custom kernel) it so that I can send it for USB repair?
at some point i was able to get USB working long enough that I installed XWJVB and get it rooted with a custom kernel.. but the blasted thing won't connect to usb any more. either it doesn't react to usb connection, or it says usb device not recognized..

So i decide to flash rom use external sdcard.
But my recovery mode is 3e so i cannot install CWM..
I found one method to replace the recovery file at XDA..
i try but wonder why when i boot in to recovery mode the recovery file will auto go back to the original file so i cannot install update.zip to install CWM..
Any one can help..i just want to flash back the old rom..
very thanks..
are you using an USB hub?
I noticed that my phone sometimes has trouble connecting fully functional when I don't plug in the USB cable directly in an USB port of my laptop. (only charging, no data transfer possible otherwise)
No...i am not using any usb hub...i direct connect to my usb...
So your phone is working well but u can't connect to PC or phone is dead !!!
If phone is ok then use 'SGS kernel flasher' or 'mobile odin' to flash new kernel (like semaphore kernel) to have CWM.

[Q] Please help!! GT-I9305 USB issue

I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII (GT-I9305), and here are my problem(s)
can't be detected by PC via USB (not showing on device manager, odin, kies, not even charging)
but it is charging when connected thru a charger
but it can detect my flash drive via OTG
already tried reinstalling correct drivers, tried different cables, tried different USB port, factory reset both from settings and recovery menu.
How can I fix this?
Also, I'm wondering if I can still attain root access/permission even without USB connection but thru terminal emulator?
Famaroot Aragorn exploit does not work.

Try and clean your usb port with soft tooth brush and alcohol, remove sim and sdcard and battery, then connect yr phone to pc holding power button and insert yr battery.
You can also try and update kies to the latest
Have you tried different pc?

usb otg isnt working

I tried connecting my otg cable which was working before But the phone did not respond at all.
When I kept the cable connected(while my pendrive was still connected on the other end )without making any moment I turned my phone off and on. And woala it works but if I reboot my phone without the cable and then try connecting it with any device like storage media it does not just responds at all
All the devices used to work before. I haven't changed(neither updated) anything , running completely stock with a locked bootloader.
I tried it with an another Device as well as another cable both the cables were working and so was my pendrives.
I think it's some issue with the software!
It's giving me nuts... What should I do? Help me guys
Would be really thankful.
If you are rooted see if Chainfire's StickMount helps. Older, and doesn't require root is Chainfire's USB Host Diagnostics. This will be dependant on your ROM version. I know it doesn't work on my 7.1.2.
You might try cleaning your usb port.

Root without CABLE - is it possible? Note 5

Hi there
I would like to root my annoying Samsung Note 5. My usb port only charges it does not work with data at all. It has been replaced to no avail. What process / software (ADB?) can I use to root my phone? Once rooted I intend to install TWRP and use a custom rom.
I have tried Kingoroot but it was unsuccessful.
Thanks!
I too would like an answer as my phone has done the same thing. Won't quick charge via cable and an Windows does not recognize the device error connecting to Windows on any PC.
Have you installed the official Samsung drivers? Try that then install Odin. Put the phone into download mode and launch Odin, see if it detects the device. If so, you might have a chance.
