Hello, I just bought a 128gb Adata sd card. When I put it on my phone, is showing 134gb instead of the 128, the format and eject options are greyed out.
If put the SD card on my laptop, it does show the 128gb.
What should I do?
It's normal, some GB goes to administration.. etc
Same here..
pretty normal
Hm sounds wired but if u format it in the computer then. It should not show more available it should show less then 128 and strange the options are grayd out

It´s not normal, instead of showing less space, is showing more than the actual capacity of the SD card.
Found out that the card was a fake. luckily I got a refund from ebay.
Yes that's what I thought

Hello everyone,
Today, I just received the dreaded "blank SD or unsupported file system" all of a sudden from the stock Samsung 2GB Micro SD Card. Everything gone, Card Fried.
But then I tried to put in a separate memory card into the phone. It's a Kingston 2GB. But the moment I even put it in, the whole phone freezes into oblivion. Only when I take it out and wait 5 seconds, will the phone run at normal speeds again.
Another issue is that I am unable to format the aforementioned Kingston Card from the phone. When I try to do so, the phone just says Erasing... then it stops. When I try to press the Mount SD card option, phone just freezes, until, of course, I remove the card and wait 5 seconds.
All this suddenly happened today. I have been owning this 5830i for about 2 months now, no problems, and suddenly today...
Any insight into these issue are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
To help give a more visual approach to this problem, I have decided to take some time off to create a video.

Hope this clarifies things.
OMG what is this shenanigans? I just put the KINGSTON card into the phone and waited two hours, and the phone had the cheek to work normally again. Yay its solved, but I still find this issue to be very strange. Fickle phone, I guess.
I just found a solution to the Kingston Card Lag Problem.
Go google Panasonic SD Formatter and Format the SD Card using a card reader. Then put the card back in the phone and the Card will work normally again.
umm umm. lol?

That's a great price... providing it's a genuine capacity. Even on Amazon there are some rogue traders selling fake cards. Make sure you use a capacity checking tool.

I have the same. Only annoyance is whenever I switch the camera on it asks me if I want to use the SD card when I selected that in the settings.

This happens with my 32Gb card too. Do you think it's down to the card or is this a 'feature' of the camera? Annoying all the same.

It's less consistent now, maybe every 4th or 5th time I switch the camera on.
SGC can read the card in ExtFAT file system or does we have to format it to FAT32?

it only asks on a cold boot.
if fast boot is enabled it doesn't shut down completely until 24 hours after you last used the camera, or until you charge it.
fast-booting skips the boot logo and animation, and it keeps the memory card mounted while the device is off.
in a cold boot the memory card needs to be mounted, and this usually happens shortly after the starting application(usually the launcher, but it's the camera app on the sgc) is launched.
because the camera is launched before the memory card is available it defaults to internal storage, and then asks if you want to switch once it detects the insertion(mounting) of the memory card.

I understood that this was the reason for the SD Card prompt but I believe the better solution would be an option in settings to always accept the external SD card as the default storage once mounted.
It doesn't seem to be an issue in any smartphone I ever owned which essentially goes through the same mount process on a cold boot.
how often do you start the camera app before android even got the chance to mount the memory card though?
no other android device launches the camera app this quickly after(or rather, during) startup.
It's Boxing Day Sale on Amazon and I just ordered the Sandisk 64GB Micro SD card for CAD$48.00 with free shipping!
Cheers

Same happens to me too. Gets worst when you have a Security password associated to the device. By the time you enter the 4digit code the option to select the card goes and the camera reset back to using the internal memory. annoying to say the least.
hi, has anyone who is using a 64gb class 10 card notice any speed different of the device?
Anyone have any issues with micro SD cards on their Z1?
I only have music on there currently (64gb sandisk card) and every now and then certain songs disappear from my music players.
I also tried saving photos to the card, first couple worked fine then it came up with an error saying it can't save so I put it back to internal storage. Now randomly, two or three days later, it has deleted the photos that were on the sd card while it was charging overnight.
That normally happens with fake SD cards...are you sure its a legitmate 64GB card?
Pretty sure, had no issues fitting around 45gb of music on there.
I'll try another one and see if it still has issues

Yes, ive had two incidents since going to .257 update.
1) Sandisk 32GB card (bought from Amazon itself not a reseller) was showing up with error on notification bar. I had to reformat it to get it to work again
2) I took a photo today and I got "Memory error", I had to swap to internal storage. I took out the SD card and put it back in again, and then all that was on it was the default folders created by Android.
My card is deffo genuine, I am convinced this is a software fault with the Z1

I have purchased it in INDIA from online seller
625 has a SD Card slot isn't it? If so, have you tried removing the SD card if you have it there?
Hello,
Try press both volume down and power bottoms together for 10 seconds or more,
phone should restart normally

Nice to hear it helped but I am [email protected] frustrated by these SD card issues. My Sammy ATIV S screwed after I replaced a Transcend 32 Gbyte card with a 64Gbyte one from Sandisk. Now that my phone can't read barely anything no matter whether I have my old Transcend inserted or don't have any SD card at all. My system apps like Photos don't start, camera app does take photos by crashes after I take a shot, Photos app doesn't show any newly taken photos.
I would tell you, go replace your broken SD card but I can't because I've used Transcend for nearly half a year and it worked like a charm until I replaced it with Sandisk. Obviously, the issue isn't only with the hardware.
BTW, what SD card do you use?

Thanks. Well, seems like SanDisk did their job dreadfully bad and screwed smth. it their controller's firmware. I've had problems with my SanDisk getting dismounted from phone every few seconds, when Transcend worked just fine.
That's good info for us WP owners to stay clear from SanDisc.

So I dropped in a 512 GB card in my s10+, and in the past you were able to format the card as internal storage. I can see this option and is basically just an external saving location, for nothing...
Any advice?

The adaptable storage option went away with the arrival of Pie.
So the only real advantage of external storage is for pictures, video and apps you install after setup? BS if you ask me...what's the point if you can't merge the two as usable storage?
What is the advantages of an external SD card?
so that when you take pictures and save them on your card and your phone happens to get destroyed you can simply pull your card out of your destroyed phone and you still have everything intact. It also allows you to access your pictures in the event that your phone battery dies by simply putting your card into another phone and it or computer. It also serves as an additional backup to your pictures if you chose to save them on both your phone and your SD card.
for somebody like me that upgrades every time a new phone comes out it's magical to be able to simply pull my card out and put it in the new phone and everything ports over. I take a ridiculous amount of pictures so the external memory is nice to have.
