I would have added this to the thread, but it would get lost in the endless amount of posts that come per minute. Disabling SD Card Notifications does not disable them, enabling and disabling again does not disable it either. Even with the volume completely off when you plug in the phone to charge it notifies you via ringtone. Very annoying
If this is how you're doing it, maybe you should keep the first post update with verified bugs and there fixes (if there is one) as they are reported. This way damaged' thread will be less cluttered and people won't have to wade through hundreds of pages of posts to find something.
good idea but don't forget... SEARCH = WADE RELIEF
Mine works just fine. I dont get a ringtone when I plug my phone in and the volume is off...

Its light sensitive? Hm...didnt know that. Could very well be my issue, is there a way to turn it off? I liked in 1.5 how it came on by just moving it. Let me know my phone was responding and just....brought a sense of comfort I can never explain. I guess maybe being jealous over it whilst having the g1.
Another issue I am having is at the lock screen. Before this update if my phone was locked, you press the power key and then either swipe your screen down, or press menu to unlock. Now whenever I press menu, it unlocks but automatically pulls up the menu on the home screen. Not a huge issue and definitely not complaining, just wanted to let you know.
has anyone else had the issue where you answer an incoming call and there is no sound on your end or their end. and the only fix is to restart your phone?. it is very annoying. i found this in testing but it stopped. now its starting up again today
Bump
I know i annoy you all with my trackball b!tching, cause its no big deal to anyone else, but to me, I could live with all the original bugs if the trackball was constant.
Also, friendstream? I didnt see it in the rom, and cant find it, and idek if it works in damages latest release.
Total noob question, but the only reason im interested in friendstream is because, to be honest, idek what it IS. Link fb, ms, and twitter tkgether right?

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<SOLVED>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1052796.html) which indicates that a voicemail alert, prior to the media scanner completing, causes this issue.
=======================================================================
So this morning I rebooted my phone. After it loaded into the home screen (but, before it connected to the network or finished media scanning) it began beeping, loudly. I was only able to silence it by turning the phone to silent mode. This beeping continued for roughly two minutes then stopped.
At no point was there any alert or message to indicate that the system had booted up in a manner that was abnormal. After repeated tries, the device makes this noise upon boot, religiously.
What the hell is it, and how do I stop it?
Seriously? Anyone? This is obnoxious.

Well, my ROM info is in my signature and I am running the default Serendipity kernel (hardcore speedmod). There have been no recent alterations to system settings, setup, or applications. No new apps installed, or uninstalled, in the past week. And nothing is open on the device when the beeping occurs (as the phone is still starting up).
Let me take a stab...might work, might not
Do you use Google Voice?
I was having an issue last month where the phone would give the odd old G1 beeping sound as soon as it reached the homescreen after reboot. Found it was a rogue google voice email message that was trying like hell to give me a notifier, but was failing miserably. Check your web console for GV and see if you have a new message waiting to be read (or listened to), open t so it doesn't eed to notify. That stopped my crazy beeping.

I do not use Google Voice. It is, however, installed on the device. When I open it I am given a series of setup questions, so I don't imagine that it is telling me that I have a message waiting.
I originally thought that it was a message alert from some program. The problem with that is that it goes on for nearly one-hundred and twenty seconds and does not give me any visual indication of what it is attempting to alert me to.
My main concern is that it is some sort of hardware warning and that I am ignoring it out of ignorance.

Can you identify which file on the phone is the actual beep sound? I'm just wondering if something is specifically calling the sound file, or if it is random. If you could identify the file and delete or rename it, it might help troubleshoot to see what your phone would do/attempt to do.

My beeping stops when i pull down the notification tray. I have been tethering for about a week without paying AT&T extra money with PDANet. Have they caught me?
This ringtone, for lack of a better word, is buried in the rom somewhere. It is called something like unresolved. Maybe reinstall kernel. this has happened to me before... I just can't remember how I fixed it.

Hi everyone
Re-posting this from the general section (posted on there by mistake, was still half asleep lol, sorry)
Just got the xperia z yesterday (after my previous lg 4x was stolen... grrr... may the thief get permanent bursting hemorroids...) and I noticed a weird thing.
The mute/vibrate/sound toggle in the notification bar does not seem to work, and the same goes for the one in the popup shown by pressing the power button for a couple seconds.
Details: the mute or vibrate icon appears on the notification bar, but if I check the volumes in settings, they're still all on, and if I receive a call or get a notification or whatever, the phone actually rings despite the supposedly muted state.
All this doesn't happen if I "manually" turn the volume off with the volume buttons or via settings: in that case the vibrate icon appears and the phone actually does not ring.
Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Yep, already tried that of course, as well as uninstalling the one widget I have that interacts with volumes, just to be sure it was not some weird conflict (and of course it wasn't)
Not a biggie actually, as I can turn it down manually or by said widget, but I hope I'll figure it out anyway if only for the sake of understanding the source of the issue
Yep I understand that. Annoys me when I cant get something working lile its ment to.

Jokes apart, I was planning to leave it 100% stock for at least a little while to see how the battery behaves without even the slightest piece of modding (got the phone only last friday, today has been the first real "field test" for the battery and so far I'm pretty positively impressed)

Yes, having the same problem as well with mine. But it has been the same problem since I had ICS on my Xperia Arc S, then Xperia V and now this when I use the toggle in the notification bar or any other toggle aside from toggling it manually via setting. Very irritating since it has never and probably will never be fixed due to the fact that it's a cross-model issue. Chances are, those who say they don't have this problem already has it but don't know it yet or will get it eventually. Sony needs to iron this out once and for all
Last night I picked up the Note 3 to replace my original Note i717. I’ve rooted it with designgears’ root. So I’m currently running into a few issues that I’m hoping some of you might have some suggestions on.
1) The note 1 had five icons per row in the home screen, now despite about a third more horizontal pixels, we have 4, and it looks like fewer vertically too. This needs to change. It sounds like there is no way to do this without hacking around...
Should this work? It's for the S3 though, and I worry that things may have changed since then.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221124
Solved, using modified T-Mo SecLauncher4.apk installed per: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46635711&postcount=26
2) On the note, it would show that I had text messages or missed calls on the lock screen, and I could swipe to unlock starting from those to go strait to the new message or missed calls. Now I see that I have messages, but I can't seem go directly to it like I could before. How can I get that feature back? From what I've seen so far, I liked the old lock screen better. I don't really know what it's doing with that top part of the lock screen - I may be missing some key insight here.
3) The notification bar is cluttered up with a keyboard icon, "select input method". How do I get rid of this? I know how to select a keyboard, thankyouverymuch.
Wanam/Xposed does it
4) WTF is my magazine? What does it do? Do I want it?
Samsung bloat, but said to cause problems when disabled.
5) How can I make it stop connecting to AT&T Wi-Fi "hotspots", without turning off Wi-Fi entirely? It automatically connects to them, using them instead of the perfectly good 4G signal. This would be fine if they worked, but unfortunately most of them have no connectivity behind them, so internet access just stops when in range if one with Wi-Fi enabled. I know I fixed this before in the note, but I forget how.
Settings -> Wifi -> Advanced, uncheck the obvious option
6) There is an eye in the notification bar. Sometimes it is white, other times it's dimmed. What is this conveying to me? Is this the samsung eye-tracking thing to make it not turn off the screen while looking at it? If so, does it only think i'm looking at it when the eye is white? If so, it's not doing a very good job, because i've seen the white eye only a couple of times for a few seconds at a times.
I was right, and it can be disabled, or Wanam can hide the notification
7) Has anyone had any luck removing the AT&T logo from the back cover without trashing the finish? Maybe acetone? What kind of plastic is it, anyway? It feels like polyethylene or polypropylene from the outside, but the inside feels like something harder than that, so I don’t know.
8) The stupid physical home button activates the screen! Is there a way to wipe the bottom of the screen with the phone on without accidentally unlocking it, short of carrying q-tips around to neatly clean around the stupid physical home button?
Wanam/Xposed can disable unlock on home.
New Question:
9) That really annoying bug where it gets stuck in EDGE mode is still here. If you try to use the internet at exactly the wrong time while leaving a dead-spot (happens a lot with subways in boston), your data connection gets stuck in EDGE, and stays there, potentially for a long time. Rebooting or toggling airplane mode fixes it... but isn't this a pain for everyone who lives around a subway system? How do others deal with this?
10) The package contained a small plastic baggie, containing a small tool made from a strip of metal, about 1 inch long, and an even smaller bag with 5 thin black rods about 3/4ths of an inch long. What are these?
Replacement S-Pen tips, and a tool for replacing them.
Thanks
I don't know all the answers but ill try
1)I think that's a DPI issue at least partially. Root it,install Xposed and the App Settings app.
2)go to settings, device, lock screen to enable lock screen widgets
3)not sure. Xposed might be your friend here
4)more Samsung bloatware. I don't use it.
5)I believe you can turn this off in the wifi settings

Probably not, but from what I've read, freezing it causes problems with email. One thing you can do is to go into the app, press menu, select settings, and uncheck the box that says "open using the home key." That will at least stop that annoyance.
5) How can I make it stop connecting to AT&T Wi-Fi "hotspots", without turning off Wi-Fi entirely? It automatically connects to them, using them instead of the perfectly good 4G signal. Correct. I find this feature worthless and have disabled it on my various Galaxy devices.
(Questions not resolved highlighted in orange)
1) Thanks - I have Xposed + Wanam, but it doesn't seem that they allow me to change the number of icons in the grids. I'm studying the dimens.xml and integers.xml - Trying to figure out what everything there means. I think i'm gonna be able to get 6 decently sized vertical rows in... but I need to make sure I know what I'm doing, and don't screw something up.
There is a SecLauncher4.apk and SecLauncher4.odex in the /system/app directory - I've decompiled the .apk, and know how to recompile it - but I'm a little unsure of what the presence of the odex file means in terms of where to go from there.
2) The issue isn't that there's no widget, it's that the widget that's there sucks. Before (on the original note), I could in one motion swipe (in any direction) from the message icon or widget or whatever you'd call it on the lock screen, and land at the new message. Now it seems like I have to tap the messages notification and then swipe in the box beneath it, which requires considerably more dexterity to do with one hand than just swiping away from the widget like I could do before.
3) Wanam does it.
4) Got it! sounds worthless. Actually, might be possible to defang in SecLauncher4.apk - it's got a lot of options related to the magazine.
5) Thanks, got it.
6) Okay, cool. It actually seems to be better than useless, so I'm gonna leave it on for now (until it does something that pisses me off, at least). Wanam can hide the eye if I tell it to, which I probably will.
8) Wanam can fix this.
New Question:

So here is something that I'm having since day one and it's puzzling me.
From time to time, after I use Assistant or the Android Auto app (standalone, not connected to a car), the phone will start doing the colored Google dots animation every time I press the home button (not only when press and holding to open Assistant).
Only way to stop it is restarting the phone.
Anyone knows why's that?

Guys I thinks it's wise to remember that Huawei is not actually true android. Hence the reason why Huawei does not pay a single cent to Google. With this always in mind you have to always expect glitches of some kind. And let's not forget that with the different regions in the world, there are going to be slight differences with the firmware as well, even if the firmware is meant to be the same.
Make no mistake, Huawei is awesome!!! The mate series have the best hardware I think, out of all the brand's, hence why they are phablets but again, you still have to expect glitches. So as far as functionality goes, their not like Samsung, but their pretty bloody good enough. And with my mate 9pro, I'm going all out on it as I know the hardware can handle lilo boot, normal phone mode and windows 10....as soon as I get round to it that is lol.
