OEM unlock button... How can I enable it? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I saw some faqs describing to get the OEM button for older phones but it didn't work for me. Anyone else have or tried and can give me tips?

you probably missed the part where your note 9 snapdragon doesn't have that capacity. in the event where you do have an exynos then you missed the part where these older phone needed 7 days of uptime for it to appear( not sure if this is still the case on these certain F and DS note 9s')

well this is unfortunately not news. been this ways for years and years...
some hacks will eventually make their way but it will take time and effort. the procedure on your phone will most likely not be as simple to do as with the exynos version when ever these hacks come out

Galaxy Tab Replaceable Battery?

Hi guys,
does anybody know if the samsung galaxy tab has a changeable battery?
It's not replaceable. Period
Is there a way yo open it up?
Really ? That sucks... Honestly. I was going to get one but this + fact it doesn't have phone capabilities cools me off
On top of that we have the Dual Core Cortex A9 around the corner...

Eh... it has perfect phone capabilities! Ive called from it many times both via sim and via skype.

It is not slated (lol?) to have phone capabilities in the United States but it has yet to be discovered if the U.S. models have the hardware and it is just disabled or if it's just not there.
I see. My understanding was that Google will only allow 3g tablets to have access to the market... which might mean Samsung will cave in and go cros-provider in the us too.
In any case, you will not be replacing a phone with the tab, and it will work just fine of the mobile hotspots you have in that...

If you mean the PlayBook, then I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you... The first version to come out will only have WiFi (no 3G) and RIM isn't exactly known for putting out great firmware for their devices - check the poor Torch, heh.
I actually have stocks in RIM, but I'm not hopeful...

You have a US Galaxy tab ? I dont think so it's not out yet (Or you're among the lucky ones testing for a carrier in the US)
It was announced that the US version of the Tab would not have phone capabilities
If it has, then that's great

Mmh yes and no. The playbook is expected to have a fantastic battery life and great CPU power. But as you say... No 3G and the need to carry a BBY with it
I was just hoping that we'd see HTC and others show some Gingerbread tablets running this type of HW (I read that somewhere). That said they may show the HW but release it only a quarter or so later. I wont wait that long... Will probably lift the Tab until something better gets out. And hopefully the Samsung will get Gingerbread to down the road (Plus it may overclock well...)
What is it with you Yanks? Why do you assume that people who speak English are from the new world? This forum is European. The tab has been out here for a while now. I am writing on it right now...
Also, why is it you assume that people who don't agree with you must be lying? This cannot be psychologically healthy
www.engadget.com/2010/09/16/samsung-galaxy-tab-wifi-only-version-coming/ http://www.samsungusanews.com/2010/...ts-samsung-galaxy-tab-in-stores-in-november-/ Combine the two and you get a very clear picture...
Where does that say that there will be no 3g? Also, you can't seriously be looking to the tab for a phone replacement, which means you will always be able to tether.

Planning to buy N8

Hello everyone, I planning to buy Note 8 next week Exynos 64 GB unlocked version, but i read many things it have problems with battery when it hit 0%. I rarely leave phone to hit 0% but sometimes it can happen. So my question is that problem is on Exynos or Snapdragon version or both?
Sry for bad English.
Thanks.
As far as i know, only Snapdragon variants are affected.
Don't be afraid to hit the "Thanks" button if someone helped you. It don't hurts

Can't confirm for sure, but my Exynos shut off after hitting 0% once and it booted back up fine for me.

No problems with my exynos
Thanks to everyone!
I've had the Korean N950N, which also runs on Samsung's own Exynos SOC. I've never experience any issues with it so far. In fact it is a very good device and works perfectly fine.

It's a known issue with all the 8 models. S8 note8...
You can install Dr.Ketan Deep discharge protection and it will keep your phone from going to 0%

You should clarify that the issue is only on the snapdragon variant... I've never had an issue on my exynos the few times it hit 0%, and it seems like no one else using an exynos variant of the note 8 ever had that issue to begin with!:good:

Is not every phone either. Other phone brands have same issues. Other members said they've had that problem for years. Just responding to OP that theres ways to protect phones from the known issue. Samsung even knows about it but dont wanna another note 7 debacle so their not worrying about it. Too minute of an issue for them to address. Yes most reporters are from sd but dosen't mean wont happen to exynos. I've drained mine to 0 but it charges just fine on sd.
I have had this issue with some older devices, N95, S3, N8, but not all the time, as it is a very bad practice to let the batt go to 0%
BTW, I still have a note 7 that works really, really fine to this very day
Wait for the Note 9 as it will have a 4000 mah battery which on its own is worth waiting for
...Unless the rumored bluetooth s-pen and other new features soak up that extra juice from the 4000 mah.

@topjohnwu hey there, can I ask if you think rooting the Huawei Mate 20 pro will be done at any point? I'm really hoping so! I've checked your twitter but couldn't seem to find an answer to this. Thanks
Update - I'm sending you a more detailed email, would really appreciate a response whenever you can
For me it is as well very important. Looking forward Huawei Mate 20 rooting. I will buy this phone only if there is root. Otherwise, Samsung Note 9

I've preordered it and it'll arrive this Friday and I'll claim the free watch and wireless charger too. I'm gonna enjoy the device for as long as I can, but in all honesty if I miss root too much then I'll sell it all and switch (from my current pixel 2 xl) to either the 6T or Pixel 3 xl. I'm very curious of the 6T, I know it will have amazing rom development which is a big thing for me normally, but also the camera may not be as good (though the Google cam port may solve that!). And the Pixel 3 xl doesn't seem like much of an upgrade from the 2 XL, so hell I may even end up just getting the 2 XL back again lol

I'm the same but I don't like to step backwards so wouldn't go for the pixel 2 XL again. The OnePlus 6t will be decent but the not as good screen and camera always hold me back. And the 3 XL which although is a great phone I hate the notch and 4gb ram and a few other things are disappointing. It will hard be after having the mate 20 pro which has so many things to go back to something with less lol. But yeah emui isnt my favourite but if we can at least root and debloat it I'm happy. Same with my Samsung tablet (not really a Sammy fan) I can at least have root and disable all the bloat

Yeah exactly. Although I will always flash a rom I'm not as fussed as I use to be, ROMs are great but think stock is very good these days on my most phones . Shame I will never get to see DU PIE on the pixel 2. But at least root is a must, don't use xposed haha. Just order the same film screen protectors as you and a spigen style case from eBay, want to be prepared. The glass protectors might be useless and don't want to be without one

I'll miss some things though, like adding extra buttons to the navbar and extra functionality (I have an additional power button there that turns the screen off with a tap, shows the power menu on long press and double tap takes a screenshot) plus I love having long press back button to kill apps, but perhaps with a gesture app I can replace such things

is there an update about a working way to root for 20 pro available?
I thought this phone can't rooted due to the locked bootloader and no way to unlock it as Huawei no longer offer that service.
Anyone tried to use google to find the solution???

And, did you follow what your link states and have your M20Pro unrooted successfully ? I doubt it because it links to the Huawei Unlock-request page that no longer exists
Hi all. You could unlock your bootloader at link below for $55. Then, you could root via ADB command. Problem solve. Suppport all latest model. Hope this helpful.

If the unlock bootloader option under developer tools is greyed out there is currently no way to unlock the bootloader even if you get a code from funkyhuawei - and they mention this on their page as well. So if you want to loose 55$ feel free and do so.

Smart Lock

Hi folks I've never been able to get smart lock by location working on the note 9 exynos version. Having just compared to Note 8 there seems to be a setting missing so I've reported that its not working to Samsung directly and they are investigating. Feel free to log the same fault in the UK on 03307269000. The more who do, the greater chance of a fix.

What is this mystery setting that's missing? I have a SM-N960F (Exynos) in the UK and Smart lock works fine, you just have to add your location a couple of times.

I made it forget it and re-added it a couple times and it still doesn't work. Not a huge deal, as I have it connected to my watch for smart unlock, but early mornings, late nights, or just lazy days when I'm not wearing the watch, it's annoying.

Just to confirm, you're adding the same location multiple times? It took me adding the same location 6 times before it reliably unlocked for me at home.

Why isn't there that much ROM development for Snapdragon?? or Unlocked Note 9?

How's everyone going to Today or Night depending where your from?
I currently have an Unlocked Note 9 Model #SM-N960U1 which has a snapdragon processor.
I've been wondering isnt there any Rom development for the Snapdragon versions. I see that the Exynos Processor Version has a decent amount of development going on there. I have noticed with previous Samsung phones that its usually the other way around, that there's more going on for snapdragon than exynos. Does anyone have an idea why that is?
Thank you,
Andr3w151
Security is tighter with the US SD versions. Locked bootloader. Root is in the works.

But if you did need to restart your phone,it does that automatically as well. I have my settings restart every Monday morning at 3am just to "clear it out" for the work week. Truly is a great device. Waiting for my S10 though. That has to be a step up.

I can think of a reason. The ability to drop a full metal backup and restore is sorely missing in non-rooted phones.
