Where are the chinese ROM's gone? - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I prefer the Chinese ROM due to lack of Google implementations, root and extra permissions.
Thing is, normally there was a link in the english miui site but now they only have the global ROM's.
How come? What happened? All the links I did find ended up dead.
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately they have removed China ROM download section on Global forum without any notice or clarification.
You can find China ROM on original MIUI Chinese forum(you may need to use any translation tool such as from Google or other)
Or you can download here https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-4x/how-to/rom-miui-10-china-links-t3811356

Thanks for clearing that up. I found that thread myself but all the links appeared to be dead, but I just found out that's due to my VPN.

hi again
will be a mixture of hint and lecture (aka advice):
the hint is, valkyrie is the rom but not the chefs name, thats agent
the advice is: search first in the specific rom thread to check for soultions from other users facing he same problem (rest assured you will find answers)
second is, if your search turns up nothing ask in the respective rom thread instead of opening a new one, best chance to get an answer as all familiar with the rom and its tweaks will read it
cheers

[Q] How to return to stock General Mobile 4G Rom in order to get updates again?

I have the General Mobile 4G single sim edition, and want to go back to stock rom, so I can receive official updates again. Right now I have CM14 installed.
I would like to install it with fastboot, just like we could do a few months ago with the Nougat Developer Previews.
I am pretty excited about the oct 4 keynote, because a new Android update will be announced
Thank you guys! You rock!

Here is the link for stock Android 7.1.1][NMF26F][December][Fastboot][Single,Dual - SIM] or MEGA.nz.
To flash the stock rom back, got Settings - Developer Options and enable OEM unlocking. But prior to that don't forget to copy all your stuff like photo, video, user app and etc. to PC or somewhere else cause everything would be erased during flashing the stock rom.
2nd step, switch the phone into Fastboot mode and connect to PC (Power button + vol+).
3. Just start the bat file GM 4G Tool v1.0.cmd or INSTALL_NMF26F.exe if any exist in the Rom folder. That's it.
Thanks a lot,
All the best
Is this rom applicable also to other SEED like PH Variant?

Anyone else getting the feeling there will be no Nougat for our device?

I have a sixth sense for when a device has been all but abandoned, and I am getting that feeling now. Considering they just released a huge MIUI update without the Mix, I can't say I am particularly hopeful for the future of this phone. May be time to throw it up on swappa while it's still worth something.

The "huge MIUI update" you are referring to is MIUI 8.2. If you check your device info, you'll see that the Mix is already running MIUI 8.2. This is why you didn't see the Mix in the list of updated devices.
Now, regarding the Nougat update, considering Xiaomi built a lot of hype with the Mix, it is unlikely that Xiaomi will abandon this device.
But Xiaomi has a history of abandoning some really good devices like the MiPad. So we'll never know.
Well, no, its 8.2 global. A global rom doesn't even exist for the Mix. So I consider that a huge update.
N for the mix is already in testing according to mods on the eu and official forum. Also recently saw a listing for the mi mix EVO with a qc835, plus the CEO wants to build another mix....My gut feeling is this phone isn't going anywhere and we will have N within a quarter. Remember the s7 just got N on carriers in the US this week.

You won't receive any updates as long as you're on the Vendor ROM. You need to flash to the EU ROM or one of the custom ROMs in this forum using the guides provided. The guides are quite straightforward. So you'll safely boot the ROM you want providing you follow the guides EXACTLY.
I personally prefer the Xiaomi.EU ROM and I just checked the languages available on this ROM for you. Found "Norsk Bokmal" in the list of available language options. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is Norwegian. I am not sure though as I don't know the language.
Cheers!

Whilst in no way invalidating the examples of times when their support wasn't great, there have also been times when Xiaomi's support for their devices has been well-above-average - someone recently posted a thread on reddit detailing one such example.
So we can't read too much into previous devices as a guide for what will happen with the Mix.
These sorts of threads appear for almost every device - it doesn't matter which device or which manufacturer, they inevitably pop up. People convince themselves they know what's going to happen and, most of the time, they're wrong.
Not to mention, Xiaomi have publicly stated the Mix will be one of their devices to be updated to Nougat.
A pretty unnecessary thing to say if they're secretly planning to ignore it.

Rooting the phone is not a necessity to flash the EU ROM.. You should flash the dm-verity and forced encryption disabler patch on TWRP if you don't plan to root. Follow the guides exactly and you'll be fine.

No, you have to unlock your bootloader only and flash TWRP using fastboot. But after installing Epic you're rooted anyway. Epic is pre rooted. For unlock procedure google unlock Xiaomi for example. Best is you start here:

Gesendet von meinem Xiaomi Mi MIX
Mine updated to 8.2.2.0 OTA just fine soon after I got things setup [it wanted or offered the update soon after being turned on - but I needed to sort stuff out first]. Abandoned ... hardly ... having run 7 on the Honor 8 and the Mate 9 ... its not THAT huge a thing to wait for it to come along through the usual process. Give it time and be patient, phones only a few months old anyways.

You need to install HotwordEnrollmentOKGoogleHEXAGON & HotwordEnrollmentXGoogleHEXAGON as priv-app.
Download the apps(Do google) or copy from global rom then move them into /system/product/priv-app/.
(I tried to share my google drive link but I can't because I'm new. Sorry)

General If you brick your device flashing .EU ROM. Here is some advice.

I spent ALL DAY yesterday on this forum and .EU Forum. BANGING MY HEAD trying to figure this out. I spent $90 of EDL services bricked my phone twice. Let me spare you the trouble.
SOME people are flashing from China ROM to .EU successfully but it seems like Luck.
SO if you end up bricked. Use MOD EDIT: Telegram Reference Removed. Have him put you on Global Rom 12.0.1. Cost $30 USD. I used him twice and another service that cost $35 once. I recommend MOD EDIT: Telegram Reference Removed because he seems like he legitimately cares to help you. THEN try flashing .EU over it(12.0.1 Global). It worked on my first try. There's reports from others here and .EU forums that this works.
So edl flash 12.0.1 Global. Then flash .EU via fastboot.
I crawled so you guys can walk. Because I really didn't mind the China ROM in the first place. I think I even prefer it over the .EU ROM that I'm now on. I sacrificed a day of sanity and $90 so we could find out a sure path to flash .EU as community. Now I think I still might go back to China 12.5.2 hahaha
To update my own thread. After spending LOTS of time tweaking .EU. I'm starting to really like it. Notifications are more consistent.
I tweaked the font to resemble China ROM instead of the awful Global Roboto. One of the reasons I kept thinking it didn't look "sharp" was because it wasn't
There was a "dynamic resolution feature" toggled on which dropped the resolution at times to save battery. NOPE turned that off.

Your doing God's work Sir
I'm on EU 12.5.2 and wouldn't dream of going back to an official China build
This one is so fast and snappy and WhatsApp notifications seem to be working much more regularly and less jerky
So if i have EDL enabled i can install Global Rom on China Rom phone?
