Does anyoe else's tab do this
When I scroll in a webpage or app, and I stop scrolling but still have my finger pressed on the screen, the screen starts to shake a little until I move my finger again, is it just my tab or is it a common thing?

the only thing i can suggest is that you are slightly moving your finger, its sensitive so might look like its shaking?

Mine does that too. I wouldn't be too worried about it since it only happens in the web browser for me.

its not defective, its cause your holding your finger on it, especially in a web browser if your zoomed in a page and scroll it might happen.
its just your finger moving a tad bit that the tab senses. Also it might be catching two touch responses from your finger, not the tabs fault. Its the way you use it really.
Dont worry. The tabs touch response is pretty sensitive, which is VERY good thing trust me. Its better to be responsive then crappy on a touch tablet.
Sorry, but yes, it is a problem
I'll respectfully disagree. I have the same issue in my galaxy tab, and I've tried several others, this behavior is found in just a few.
I've made a video and a drawing test to illustrate it. I've put them in a page in a domain that I own.
(XDA still doesn't allo me to paste a link, but the address is fgfaria.com )
I've tried an app called touchscreen booster, which appeared to be appropriate from its description, but didn't notice any difference.
But there is a very intriguing point. It doesn't look like it's a hardware problem. I have installed touch test app, and with that the touch is perfect, no shaking. Also, specifically in youtube app, when scrolling the list of videos, it doesn't happen.
I need to find out why it happens pretty much everywhere, but not on youtube app and touch test apps.
Just to make it even more complex: as you'll see in the picture in the url above, towards to the right edge of the screen the problem is much lighter or doesn't happen.
If someone can help, that would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks,
Fabio
I'm getting this problem too. I get TERRIBLE shakiness when i hold finger input especially in google maps.
I highly doubt it's a hardware issue because this only started happening to me ever since i installed the italian gingerbread rom.
This this GB rom giving anyone else the same issue?
Same problem here
I am also having the same problem, installed an application called "Touchscreen Booster" but no avail.
Strange thing is that the problem seems to not happen on Youtube application.
I also have GB 2.3.3, in my case, the overcome room 2.0.0
One possible solution
Did you guys check the url I've sent? (fgfaria.com)?
Is your problem just like mine? In my case, I had the problem since Froyo 2.2, and still have it (the same way, no change) after an update to 2.2.1.
My GT is not rooted, and I'm waiting for gingerbread to be made available through Kies in Brazil to proceed with the update.
Another interesting thing is that most touch test apps behave normally (no shakiness).
Possible good news: I've found an app in the Market called "ILITEK Touch Utility".
Unfortunately I couldn't use it in my GT as it appears to require the device to be rooted. But it has several features from calibration to screen software reset. Hopefully this may help, specially as it seems to be a software issue.
Let me know if this works for you.
Regards,
Fabio
mine does EXACTLY the same thing as per your website.
the app does not seem to fix anything...
sigh...
at least good to know someone else is experiencing the same problem.
The problem is app specific
Hi all,
In addition to touch test apps and youtube app, there are some other apps that don't present the problem. One specific interesting case is the one of the HelloListView tutorial presented in Android Developers website.
I've followed the tutorial, and created this illustrative app that just creates a list and allows you to scroll up and down. This specific app doesn't present the problem we've been discussing. I've made it available for download as apk file in the end of that same testing page (fgfaria.com)
That application being so simple and not presenting the problem, and the other apps that also don't present it, makes me think that the problem may appear when some specific library gets included in an app. Possibly something related to hardware acceleration, for example (just guessing, no specific reasons to believe that).
If only we could isolate the cause of the problem, we could notify Google and/or Samsung and influence a new patch release.
This is as far as I have gone so far. Ideas, reactions?
Regards,
Fabio
Or the libraries being used in this tutorial include some kind of filter not used in problematic apps...
I posted about the same problem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096698
I've included pics from my tests. Notice how before I installed the custom rom, the lines were perfectly smooth. This definitely has something to do with the software. We need to have one of the rom devs look at this and find out what might be the cause.

hi grukko, thanks for your comment!
To me, the most intriguing part is that the behavior happens in some apps, and not in other. I have done a very similar test, which I've published in the address http://fgfaria.com
As you see in the thread, the problem doesn't happen in youtube app, and screen touch test apps and in the list tutorial app I've created following instructions in Android Developers website.
Can you check if your problem is the same checking if youtube doesn't "shake"?
Thanks!
Fabio

Your test results look similar to mine. I just tried youtube and it does not shake.
New discovery:
It may be a hardware problem (at least in my case). A friend, in another forum noticed that the jittering only happens in screens with a light background, specially white.
This can be quickly tested, by opening a web page that has a white and a black part. Zooming in the white part (so that all background you see is white) and keeping the finger still, the screen starts shaking. If you move to the black part, zoom and keep you finger still, no shake at all.
Regards,
Fabio
Anyone? There is a solution for Galaxy S (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844216&page=3#). There must be a solution for Galaxy Tab 7 too...
Touch screen issues
Count me as another member of the shaky touch screen club! Anyone found a resolution yet?
No luck yet. Official upgrade to Gingerbread is not yet available in Brazil. I'm waiting for this upgrade to check if things get better, but I'm not so optmistic, as I've seen reports from many people to whom the problem actually started after the upgrade. Does anyone know if the problem has already been officially reported to Samsung?
Nope. Not mine, the tab working flawlessly

i have the same annoying issue on my GT P1000 with gingerbread 2.3.3 Kernel: 2.6.35.7
i also have the vibration on Youtube app and any black background slightly.
Just upgraded my captivate to the newest nightly cyanogenmod. No problems with the upgrade; did the usual google apps installations, etc. etc. What I've noticed is this (and a quick search of the forum didn't turn up similar issues):
In the contacts screen, I can no longer swipe left / right to message / dial respectively. There is a dial icon, but it was much more convenient to just swipe. Is this feature something that can be enabled? If so, how? I didn't see an option for it in the menus...
Also, I was used to being able to either "spell" a name, or start dialing the phone number in the dialer screen and have the name come up as I typed. This no longer works.
My contacts have been successfully imported, and I've rebooted multiple times... nothing seems to help.
So, has anyone else noticed this? If so, how do you fix it? Am I just missing some sort of simple option, like.. gimmie_some_pimp_ass_features_checkbox?
I have definitely seen some positive benefits to the upgrade... having tried multiple "distros" previously, I've always had slow GPS locking on my Android phone. Now, for the past couple days... it's been excellent. Within 10 seconds of launching the maps application, I've got a within 40 meter lock...
... but I digress.
If anyone has some input to this issue, I'd definitely like to hear it...
The swipe feature is a touchwiz feature, i.e. Samsung Rom and not aosp like CM7

I've noticed that quite often some apps fail to appear on my recent apps list (the one that appears when you long press the home button). For example I am running Opera Mobile, I long press home, I switch to another app for a few seconds to look at something, then I long press home again but Open Mobile is missing form the list! This can be fixed by immediately pressing back to close the recent apps list and then reopening it by long pressing home. The second time all apps are properly there.
This problem is not limited to S3 mini. A friend running 4.1 on some other Samsung phone (the one with the curved screen, I don't remember the model) also encounters this problem.
Anyone else here affected? I see no references to this problem on the web. Any way to solve this? Or perhaps any news about s3 getting 4.2 hopefully fixing this?
It's quite annoying considering it happens a few times per day to me.

Never happened...maybe it's related to the specific app (in your case Opera Mobile). It also happens with other apps?

I'm pretty sure it happens with many apps. I'll keep a closer eye on it and if it only happens with Opera I'll reply again. But I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if only Opera was causing it.

Nope, for me it remains. Tried to switch and remain on another app, spending some time on it but opera remains in memory as usual...
Don't know what to say, maybe some process in the rom..
Do you have root privileges? Maybe you can try some mod rom if you want...
Hope someone else can give you more help, good luck :good:
You're not the only one experiencing this problem It happens every time you switch to another app for few seconds (5-6). I guess this happens because the SystemUI process doesn't have enough time to refresh the index of the apps running in background and generate new thumbnails for them ^^

That's exactly my, wild, guess. Not enough time to generate a thumbnail or something. So it's an android bug and there's nothing to do about it? And why all the lack of information on this bug on the internet?
Hmm

Over a year later and I run into this problem on an S4 running 4.4.2. This thread is literally the only info I can find on this problem. Such a pain, I rely on the recent apps list a lot and half the time either the list order does not update, or an app I last opened or two is missing. Did you manage to resolve this?
This bugs the crap out of me. Google is so lazy and they never fix stuff they just let it go on forever and ever
Hi everyone,
I am using the latest CM11 nightlies (specifically the 20140210 right now) and whenever I send an SMS message over 160 characters, the message will not send. In the past, the messages would split and send the first 160 characters, then the second, and so on, each as an SMS message. Now, it's just one message that is not split and it will not send. I updated firmware (thinking this might help), was on the stock sense rom for a while and everything was fine but coming back to CM11 again I still have this issue. Does anyone have any advice as to why this is happening? SMS and MMS seem to work, just not SMS when over 160 characters / multiple pages. I've tried this with different apps and nothing seems to help, except for hangouts which somehowworks. But i'd rather not be using that if possible. I tried to find other solutions to this and had no luck, sorry if I missed something.
I've had this issue with the past few nightlies and haven't seen anyone else yet with the issue. I would have posted this to the cm11 thread but I don't have enough posts yet unfortunately to do so
Thanks for anyone's help!
I'm searching for the answer to a similar issue. I have a d2spr, on CM11 nightlies as well, but my issue is that I cannot type more than 160 characters anymore. Used to, if I typed more, it would tell me it was going to split into multiple messages by a little thing near the send button. Looked something like "140/2." Now, when I get to 160, it just won't let me type anything else. I have to hit send, and continue typing out my message hoping the recipient doesn't respond to the first message before I get the complete thought across to them.

This is the exact problem I have as well, my first post was a little chaotic and hard to understand. I've since gone back to cm10.2 M-snapshot though without a fix for the issue. i just checked the cm11 2/17 nightly and it still has this same problem. I will probably just wait a while until there's a more stable version of cm11 available for the m7spr.
thanks for confirming that i'm not the only one!
Hi guys,
For those with China rom Vivo X70 Pro+, can I check if you have delays when you want to draw/annotate the photos before sending to others on whatsapp?
Its like, when I use the inking feature to draw on the photo, nothing happened at the beginning. But after kept trying for some time, the inking/annotation suddenly works. After a while, the cycle repeats.
Anyone with the same issue and know how to resolve?

Hello, I just tried the exactly situation you mentioned, and I have NO lags or delays at all. I opened whatsapp, attached a picture, selected the "pen" to draw on the picture, added some symbols, emojis, and no delays at all
