Question on Note 9 notification volume - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I have an S9+ and it has a software issue(pretty much all of them) in which notifications only play via the bottom speaker and not both
I was curious if the Note 9 has this software issue as well
Its easy to test for. Goto your settings and then goto sounds and vibration and then notification sound. Simply select something and see if it plays on both the speakers (earpiece and bottom)

Just through the bottom speaker (nothing through earpiece).

thank you so much

Nah man, we dont need stereo notifs, we just need to hear them at all

I'm not sure its an oversight. If you had the volume raised to a high level and an alarm triggered while you were on the phone, it could possibly cause ear pain / damage. Samsung lawyers probably had something to do with keeping the alarm ringing on the lower speaker only!

HTC has no answer

I have posted a bug with the rear speaker and the volume control. On my unit, when you turn this feature on, the volume is very loud. Even if you turn down the volume to the lowest setting, the volume is less, but still to loud. In a discussion with HTC today, they had no answer as to why this is happening. They indicated that when you turn down the volume to the lowest setting, it should mute. They pointed out that in WM6 there is no settings tab for setting the rear speaker volume as in WM5. Has anyone else tried this feature?
I don't have this problem.
But it doesn't mute though when i use the roll switch on the left side of the kaiser to lower the volume, it does decrease the volume to a minimum, but is NOT muted completely. (that's not a problem for me.. if i don't want to hear the rear speaker, i don't activate them ).

Hi
When using the speaker phone and turning down the volume, even on the lowest setting it isn't off completely. This makes absolute sense as if you are on a call using the speaker phone having no sound at all, well what is the point of being on the call in the first place?
When playing sound elsewhere, i.e. not in a call turning it down completely does mute it.
Your particular issue seems to be the sound doesn't go quiet enough for you, maybe HTC can change this in future firmware. I expect the complaints they get most often is it isn't loud enough to annoy people even more with silly ring tones!

Phil
"silly ring tones!"
Ha, that should be a song

Call volume too low?

Hi, I just got my Nexus 6 that I purchased from eBay, everything is ok but the call volume, while it's pretty clear, I think it's too low compared to other phones, I'm not sure if I'm crazy or someone else has noticed that? I tried the speakers for music and they are loud, again, it might just me, but I wanted to double check if someone has noticed that, and if it's something normal for this phone, thanks!

Try this.
1. Make sure the system volume is all the way up as well as the phone earpiece volume.
Get an app the controls all volumes and you'll see it there along with media , alarm etc.
This happened to me but once i raised system and phone it was fine.
Also note that you must practice placing ear in perfect earpiece speaker position lol.
Let me know if it worked that was my problem.

Ditto. My phone volume way too low for in call - either with built-in earpiece or a wired headset.
Nothing I've found brings it up.
Speakers for media/notification is very good&loud, but speaker for in-call (using as a true speakerphone, not trying to use speakerphone mode as earpiece) and ringing is inadequate.

Believe that with update to 5.01 that is going to fix the problem, hope so, I believe that I read it somewhere. I really want to know what are all the fixes for the new version 5.01
BTW, I have Volume Ace download it from play store and see if you got all volume up
Good luck !

[Q] Bottom speaker louder then top?

Hello,
I have a question - it sounds like the sound coming from the bottom speaker is slightly louder than the top one - is this problem hardware issue or software?
Anyone else with issues like this?
My top speaker is louder I think.

Well, maybe it depends on the Music‼
...and also - if the battery percentage is lower, then that also could be a reason!
All the best
thanks, but the battery is high.
also, when i change the direction of the phone (landscape, both sides), the stereo changes and the consistency of lower speaker is louder continues (even though the stereo changes from right to left \ left to right)

Ringing through lower speaker only?

Is it just me or are also your devices ringing only through lower speaker? In a way, it seems logical, but it is way to quiet.
When I play media (f.e. with Poweramp) or even when I'm selecting a ringtone in settings, it plays through both speakers (fairly loud), but at incomnig call only lower speaker rings and unfortunately at least for me it's not loud enough (my previous Note 4 was way louder).
Suggestions (rooting is not an option)?

Are you serious? Dude, change your ringtone or something. It's plenty loud. If you can only hear it in a quiet environment when its ringer is up all the way, you either have a bad unit or bad hearing.

The bottom speaker was loud enough on the note 8 , not had time to use compare with the 9.

I tried many different ringtones and they are all loud enough, when previewing (t.i., playing through both speakers). But during the actual call and only on lower speaker, they are not.
I certainly don't have bad hearing, but I'm afraid, that the unit may be bad. Although, media plays very good and loud (both speakers).
hate to be that guy, but are you sure your ring tone volume isn't lowered? You can set them it independently of media, notifications, and system volume

with this app you can disable this nasty behavior
also, this app activates the upper speaker for notifications, and may be, ringtones
the cost: this app is battery eater
try it! and let me know how works for you, i downloaded the full version APK and i tried two weeks but really the app eat so much battery!!!
Low notification volume

My wife's Samsung Note 9 is the same way.
OP7T (I think it was the t model) actually has a true second speaker (in addition to the ear piece speaker) so the sound is more even. YouTuber JerryRigEverything did a tear down and pointed out the fact it had a true second speaker.

Have any of you tried switching to Mono audio in the Accessibility settings. I've seen where it can make it louder.
