Hey, can I install gcam without root?
You can, but it won't work fully cause HAL3 is not enabled by default and you'll have to root to get it to work

Hello Gents,
I have Mi A2 with android P and it is not rooted.
I want to enable camera2api but I'm having two issues I don't know how to solve them since enabling bootloader wipe out all data.
1- I've important data and apps on my phone I don't want them to be wiped out. Is there a way to backup them all even application data? to avoid re-download them again?
2- I prefer not to root the phone because I use my work email on it and it will not work anymore if I rooted my phone. Is there any workaround for it?
Also thanks to help me with a method to enable camera2api that might have less damage on the mentioned above or at least with proper work around.
1. Use titanium backup (needs root)
2. Use temporary root (fastboot boot), or just use Magisk to pass safetynet so your email will work
Does anyone know a working method to hiding root in android 8? Cant access snapchat or my hulu but also don't want to get rid of my root.
Yes. It's called Magisk.
Just activate magisk hide on snapchat.
Magisk works for SC, but not many other apps. Sometimes you need to reinstall the app if you late install magisk.
As i have installed gcam by temporary root method. Now i want to format/erase/factory reset my phone from the settings. So can someone tell me will my gcam work after it and also will it be bricked while doing that. Do i have to frst unroot it.
Hi all,
I just installed the latest stable EU rom on my Mi note 10 device. I've used TWRP and magisk 23.0. And also, I did an IMEI repair operation.
Everything was fine until I tried to install my banking app. I uninstalled magisk (on the app and using twrp). (Also, uninstall and re-install the banking app) However, still, my banking app detects the root!
What is the correct way to remove root access and get rid of root warning? (I dont need root anymore).
Thanks in advance
There are several things that an app might be looking for besides Magisk. Enabled developer options, unlocked bootloader, etc...
I received today my pixel 7 and I'm planning to root it. I wonder what are the downsides of rooting... For example, on my previous phone (oneplus 7), unlocking the bootloader would change widevine from L1 to L3... Will I lose widevine L1 if I root the Pixel 7? Will I still be able to update via OTA? Are there any other downsides which I need to be aware of before rooting? Except for google pay, which I don't use
No, you won't lose Widevine L1
Yes, you will get OTAs. However, it's failing to install on mine. Might need to unroot and install the update (I am not sure).
I can't think of any other downside.
For banking apps to work perfectly, do these:
1. Repackage to hide the Magisk app
2. Enable Zygisk in Magisk
3. Enforce DenyList in Magisk
4. Configure DenyList and check all the boxes for the apps you want to hide root access
5. Use AirFrozen to freeze Magisk (unfreeze whenever you need to grant root access to any app)
