Hi guys,
because in United Kingdom there is a brand C782 and the updates are late (on my P20 I have security update from April) I was looking for manual method to update without root. Because there P20 forum is dead I'm writing here. P20Pro C782 also has a problems with fast updates
1. Unzip the firmware and copy the ‘dload’ folder to phone’s root of SD card (not in any folder).
2. Open dial pad and dial: *#*# 2846579#*# *
3. Select Software Upgrade > SD card Upgrade > confirm the installation.
4. The installation process will start automatically. After rebooting, enjoy EMUI 5.0 (Android 7.0). (Source – XDA)
will this method work with the files from Firmware Finder for Huawei? I see in the FF that there is OTA for my phone (c782 version). I don't know how it is possible that OTA on FF its available but my phone is not being updated because of UK carriers.

Thank you for the commendation, but i dont see any emui lower than 8.1.0 available for P20 Pro...
Hi all on UK brand C782 with bootloader locked.
maybe we can update manualy with this tool? it's made to roll back but maybe if we have files from Firmware Finder we can update our phones and not wait for UK OTA?

this method will only work for those ones with unlocked bootloader
if anyone is able to use a SD-card in a pro, pls let me know how. .. to my knowledge the pro doesnt support SD card like the p20

Would it be possible with a USB stick to update the P20 Pro (Device: CLT-L09 (C432) - FW: 9.0.0.108-c432) to EMUI 9 ? I read that the bootloader are locked on the p20pro.. and my device is not rooted at all.
It should be possible only if FW is approved for your device
I just tried with usb c memory stick. Update failed. I think its because firmware is still not approved...
P20 pro don't have SD but you can use a USB 3.0 microsd adapter connected through usbc and there on the SD you need to put dload with the origin file UPDATE and the folders extracted from Update I sure you this method works 100% I did it to return from not released 9.0 update to 8.1 BTW you don't need to use a micro SD you can also use a external hdd but than you need to format it through you're android divice so I rather sd instead of copying all you're files you need to save from hdd

Is there any slow down or any other errors in the lolipop update. Is it betst morethan kitkat?
Yes You can use it on your Honor 4c. But I would advise you not to do so. USB otg won't work and the there is not much change in the UI. The apps take more space than usual and considering the low internal storage on this device it is not such a good idea.

honor 4x
hi friends,
im new to android , i used honor 4x, still with un-root . . can i root it?
Just broke my phone with this update.
At some point the system started reporting about the availability of an upgrade, but I didn't manage to install it -- the phone was complaining on version mismatch.
Then I tried to install this "beta update", and it worked, i.e. got installed. But on my phone it looks completely broken -- the sim cards don't work (they are detected, but can't connect to any service), Google services can't get updated and it is generally glitchy.
Now the "Build version" says: BalongC52B311, the serial number is: R8QBY15321003133
I bought this phone in the UK, but since it refused to accept UK update, I think it's somehow unorthodox.

C33, C636 are different variants of the device. I rebranded my L29C185 (a Middle East international version) to the L29C636 (Asian international version).
L09 is the single sim version of mate 9 I believe, I don't know what region c316 is though. Maybe someone on here can tell you, or have a Google.
I use Firmware Finder from the play store to check updates. Might be worth looking on there.
Hi all, tried the hwota method and it gets stuck on "After device enter TWRP, connect to USB cable. Press ENTER key to continue...". My Mate is in TWRP, but it is not recognized as USB device in Windows 10. Cold that be the issue? How to fix it - I have installed adb-setup-1.4.3.
just bought the phone in israel and it's coming with the .109 build, for some reason, it still doesnt find the new .124 firmware
can i force this firmware if i don't have their nano sd?
With usb flash drive
My s9+ came with a usb-c to regular USB otg brick. Just stick any USB drive in it and you can upgrade using the mate 20 pro method. Obviously using p30 pro firmware.

Yes, that's the link to HiSuite. The Windows version has an option to see if there is an update available to download and install it if there is, the Mac version does not do updates. For me, HiSuite isn't working well. It identifies that the 124 update is available but disconnects repeatedly after downloading 99% of the update. (VOG-L29)

Thanks,
Finally, HiSuite installed the 124 update on my P30 Pro. Might be a lesson here . . .
The update failed to install when using two PCs with USB 3 - one running Windows 7 the other Windows 10. I then tried again using an old notebook I have that runs Windows 7 and USB 2 ports. This time it worked. The difference seems related to using USB 2.
Anyway, I'm now updated.
It seems that dual SIM phone's are getting the update, whereas single SIM versions are not..

Thanks. I have tried that to, but without any success so far. It is worrying that I have missed at least 4 Android security patches, and Huawei won't respond.
Thanks for your help though
HiSuite may be a solution, but it's also a hassle that shouldn't have to be done. OTA updates by design are intended to make the process almost effortless.
But not having an update since last October is abysmal by anyone's standards.
I'm with three UK and have been running 10.0.0.178 for around a month, Security Patch is 1 December 2019, and as we're now almost half way through March I feel I should be on the very latest update.
Huawei definitely consider their home market more important than ROW.
---------- Post added at 03:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:43 PM ----------
I contacted Huawei UK by email about 5 weeks ago... response came day before yesterday ......
A few hours after my post above my device received a new OTA update.
It's now running 10.0.0.186, security patch 1 January 2020.
Although I'd prefer more timely updates I'm still glad I received this latest one.

Hi m8,
According to this post and after talking to @demurov, your device is not a demo unit - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82043915&postcount=529. For you to get latest EMUI 10, Huawei needs to release the update. Whille on EMUI 9.1 could use the dload firmware from C432 (international firmware version) to update your device, things are different in EMUI 10 and you need to flash the same firmware as your actual cust is, otherwise you can get yourself with a softbricked phone.
As i've mentioned in my post, users who have WEC custs CAN TEST (be aware of softbrick, though) using the methods from my post, but there's NO guarantee it will work and still remains the big problem of having a softbrick device whille waiting for a Huawei EMUI 10 dload firmware for WEC custs phones
Also, did you check for an update using HiSuite PC v10? Or maybe using eRecovery? Last weekend helped an WEC user through PM's to get updated untill v9.1.0.260, using dload firmware and HiSuite.

Hi m8,
If you have a matching cust like one from my thread, you can flash the firmware using an OTG adapter + memory stick.

My O2 got the EMUI 10 update a long time ago now. Must just be EE who are really bad with updates.
is it possible that the corona crisis is delaying the updates?
I'm still on 10.0.0.178 C605, security patch December 1, 2019. Is that normal?
I do not want to do the full wipe variant.

I don't think so, because the firmware is long time released.
If you don't want to use dload firmware, have you tried with HiSuite PC or eRecovery method, both ways without SIM inside?

Hi all
Do you really recommend to use HiSuite PC or eRecovery for firmware update ONLY with Sim-card taking out from the phone?
Thanks

Sometime, your carrier delay your updates, therefore cheching without SIM inside is better than with it (tested by many users from xda) ?

Hi m8,
Short answer is NO, because it might get softbricked and you don't have a doco dload firmware to use in order to downgrade to previous firmware on your device.
Flashing another device cust firmware was working well whille on EMUI 9.1 and users could flash the international dload firmware version (VOG-L29 C432 one) without the risk of getting softbricked. Once EMUI 10 was released, a lot of users got their devices softbricked, because of security changes inside kernel and within system itself. Some of them managed to revived their units using different methods or when Huawei released the firmware for their devices, but there are still many of those who are waiting for an dload firmware release for their custs.
So my advice is to wait for docomo to release the update and don't flash VOG-L29 C432 dload firmware on your device (or you could do it knowing the risks and assuming them). Untill today, no user from docomo tested if flashing C432 will work, because of the chances of getting a softbrick.

Hi m8,
I will answer for both posts :
1. YES, you can remove them using ADB commands. For how to remove, check my thread from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...w-to-remove-huawei-bloatware-vog-ele-t4014937
For finding out the name of the app you need to remove from your phone, install this app and use the original name of the apk's you need to remove (select app and press details) - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/jumobile/system-app-remover-root/system-app-remover-root-7-1-release/
2. When you say you have the original firmware from docomo, what do you mean by that? Is it the dload firmware that can be flashed using an OTG adapter+memory stick (or Huawei NMCard) or some other firmware? As my knowledge, if you flash an EMUI 10 firmware and got softbricked device, YOU won't be able to downgrade to EMUI 9.1, just using a proper dload firmware (in your case the one released by docomo) could revive your phone. So in your case, i would wait for them to release the update ?
Let me know how can i help you more and be safe

For the dialer you can use the default Google Phone app and Google Contacts, maybe there are closer than what you're used to ?.
NO, you cant modify the firmware prior flashing it. If you / all of us could unlock bootloader and rooted our devices + installed TWRP on our Huawei phones, you could have flashed a custom ROM or remove/adding using ROOT ANY apps you would like. But as we can't unlock our bootloaders anymore, we have to use EMUI as is, customised by docomo or other provider. Only way to have a clean firmware is by getting an international or Chinese version of the device, one with C431 / C432 or AL-00 cust .
Installing other firmware COULD get you a softbricked device. I say could because nobody has yet tested flashing an C432/C431 cust firmware on the Japanese DoCoMo phones .

If your device is a P30 Pro Single SIM HW-02L (VOG-L0J) with Build ID : VOG-L0J 9.1.0.136(C341E136R1P2), then this firmaware is your original one https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=tags&tag=Huawei+VOG-L0J
Pay attention that in order to download that firmware you will need a paid account on their site

Ouch, i've replied you earlier about your firmware in case of backup, but it seems that you have a higher release version than the one available on easy-firmware.com (they have VOGUE-L0JB 9.1.0.136(C341E136R1P2) whille you have on your device v9.1.0.182(C341E136R1P2). So in case of flashing a C432 firmware on your device and get a softbrick, you are unable to return to latest available for your device. And as i've seen in your SS, there might be some problems regardless LTE basebands, which may be different in Japanese device vs European (International version).
So i would reccomend you to wait, maybe your next 1-2 firmware updates will bring you EMUI 10, alongside March/April security patches, as now you have January 1st 2020 on it ?

hi , dear SilviuO
unfortunately i haven't read this thread earlier.
I had upgraded my VOG-L0J to VOG-L29 10.1.0.151(C431E19) by using hisuite proxy .
at first , it looks perfect. until I executed factory reset.
now, almost google app are gone because of google play protect failen.
I tried to change to some other firmwares with hisuite proxy , all failed on installing step.
can you give me some advice for this situation?
thank you.

Hi there, m8. If you would asked me before?, i would recomend you to stay on your actual version... But now it's too late, so you will have to try using the GMS methods to install & use Google Services on your device.
I would also reccomend you to use a dload firmware to get back to your original cust, but there's no EMUI 10 n'or EMUI 10.1 dload firmware released for VOG-L0J .
For info about how to install GMS, use YouTube or xda P40 Pro thread:
1. YouTube - link 1 / link 2 or just search for How to install GMS on Huawei P40 Pro
2. P40 Pro xda thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...uide-method-to-install-google-mobile-t4120143 or https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p40-pro/help/gms-method-t4163345

If you have an dload firmware for EMUI 9.1 and you will flash it, there's a BIG problem: YOU WILL GET YOURSELF A SOFTBRICKED DEVICE! The only way for you to rollback to EMUI 10 and then to EMUI 9.1 is through HiSuite and by using the right firmware for your device. I know that there's none released, so unless you get yourself (maybe from a Phone Service Center) a dload firmware EMUI 10 or EMUI 10.1 for VOG-L0J to use it, then you'll need to use your device AS IS ?.
Hope you haven't used the EMUI 9.1 firmware untill now and you get to read this before
