Samsung Experience Home battery drain? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
The battery usage from Samsung Eperience Home seems a bit high to me
It's since about 15 hours since last full charge, it doesn't show up in battery usage but only in Settings / Apps / Samsung Eperience Home / Battery.
And it grows up quickly, even in device maintenance, battery, battery usage, 3 dots on top right corner, optimize battery, Samsung Eperience Home is in the list for apps optimized...
On my previous Note 8 it was something like 10 mAh...
EDIT: it's now at 848 mAh, barely 10 minutes after the screenshot

X9 Battery Life

Just wanted to share that the battery life is very good on the X9. I am getting about 5.5 hours of screen-on-time.
I unplug the phone at 6am and at 11pm there is still 15% left with at least 5 hours of SOT.
That's excellent, I'm only getting around 3 hrs SOT myself.
Yes, I confirmed it. My X9 is in good battery life, normally I only need charging it once per day, even if I used it to browse web, some gaming.
Same here. SOT is consistently 5hrs+. This includes some gaming , alot of web browsing and some music.
Screen at 40% , 4g off , battery saving location setting and haptic feedback/ touch sounds disabled.
Everything else default.
Even if fast charging is only ver. 1.0 battery life is good enough to not need faster.
Very happy with this phone all around.
Slightly disappointed with the battery life. The standby power usage is not great compared to my other modern android phones. It is lightly debloated with all the power saving feature on except power save mode. Using power save mode only brings it to about the same level of my other phones without it on... Then, there is my Z3c.
~5hour screen on time is not great as well. Comparing similar screen size phones, it is pretty bad as I get about 6 on my Note4 (which is faster and pushing a higher resolution), and Zuk Z1 (CM13 with undervolt), which easily get 9-10+.
Edit: Some overnight numbers.
My main phone is an S6 and before going to bed was @ 43%. Checked phone 11 hours later = 38%. This is with wifi on and syncing 3 google accounts, 1 IM, NO SOCIAL MEDIA.
X9 @ 52%, with Wifi, sync off (no IMs/SM installed), no BT, no location, 2 SIM active (both get 5 full bars @ connection) = 41% checked at the same time. Doze is on and confirmed working. I've used with only 1 SIM before and it really doesn't change the numbers that much. I wouldn't be so harsh on the phone if it had quickcharge 2.0. But it only charges slowly @ ~5V 0.96A. There is something funky with the charging numbers, since it bumps up to ~1.1 amp after ~80%. It also doesn't trickle charge after 90% and only drop to trickle charge after hitting 100%. I am not sure about the battery longevity on this thing.

Same with all phones... check all which apps are the most hungry.
If you suspect its an hardware issue, factory reset then uninstall/disable as many apps as you can, charge up and let it run and see if it last normally.
Usually it should be some apps eating up the battery.
Dears All
There is an app (3C Battery Monitor Widget) in which you can inspect your battery to see if it works in normal condition or not. It shows you amount of real amperage drained from cellphone battery in different situation.
As I tested mine (htc one x9) it drains maximum current when capturing photo or recording video, location(gps) is on and map apps like google map is live, switching between different applications which result to rise frequency of cpu up to maximum (1.95 or 2.2 ghz in different model).
If you enable power saver mode in setting, maximum frequency of cpu wil be limited to about 1.32 ghz and conserves more battery and limits drained battery current below 900mA otherwise in aforementioned cases drained current will be raised above 1000mA and it is obvious that (3000mA/hrs) battery will be empty during 3hrs. Anyway normal application such as web surfing (specially with WiFi instead of mobile network), listen to music, talk with phone and brightness of display below 50% will result to more than 5hrs SON.
If you need more battery SON, one way is limit CPU/GPU frequency and some more sophisticated setting (you should first unlock boot loader, then root and also install kernel application or change stock kernel with custom kernel which can support change of CPU parameters the former is easier and the latter I couldn't find until now anything)
Finally I would be happy to announce you that I could reached 8 hrs son with this technique on my HTC ONE X9.
Battery life is quite good on my device too. Although I have disabled touchboost.
To disable touchboost open build.prop and change
ro.mtk_perfservice_support
From 1 to 0. Root is needed though.
Also limited max. Freq to 1.7GHz
1.9GHz is just an unnecessary heat generator and battery drainer.

put your wife to sleep
wifi, advanced options, keep wi-fi on during sleep, and select never
ever since i have done this, i am doing a bit better on the battery front
also, went to dark wallpaper. that helped a bit to.
First, before taking any actions you should install a battery monitoring app and one for data monitoring.
After several days, analyze them to see if there is any app working and transferring data constantly around the clock.
Also, try to reduce the number of apps working (or updating) in background. For example email fetching (switch it to manually instead of auto fetching every x minutes).
I used gsam battery monitor but nothing seems to drain my battery. I could barely reach 2 or 3 hours screen on time

Then take it to a repair shop and replace the battery.

[HELP] Battery Standby Drain (over night) 2% per hour - No wake locks - incl. GSam

Hello. I need some help with my new (like 3 weeks old) P20 Pro (single sim, no root).
I'm really happy with this phone now except for one thing. That thing is Standby drain.
I lose like 1-2% PER HOUR over night, doing nothing.
I left my phone last night on 25% and went to sleep.
Next morning, 7 hours later I was on 13%, losing almost 2% per hour.
In my opinion, that's just too much for doing nothing on the phone.
I'm not an expert reading those battery stats, but I dont actually see a problem.
There are no wake locks and the only apps that use the battery are Android-System, Kernel (Android OS) and Google Play-Services.
Huawei Health and Google Play-Services used the Sensor time a lot, but I don't know if the sensor time is important for the battery.
If you have a solution, please give me an advice.
My dad gets the same phone next week and I wanna get it done untill he gets the phone, so I can do the same.
Things I've done:
- wiped cache
- reverted to factory settings via standard recovery
- debloated (like 15-20 apps)

Big thanks.
Trust me, you're experiencing the same thing I have been for the last 6 months. It takes around 3 weeks or so for the phone to learn how you use the battery and from what people have told me on XDA, Reddit and Telegram, this battery drain is "normal" which I still don't believe. I had a Redmi Note 5 Pro before this phone and it probably drained only 2% overnight over 7 hours and I could hit SOT of near 11 hours on a single charge so idk what Huawei has done with the battery optimization of this phone as my Note 5 Pro also had a 4000mAh battery like this phone.
All you can do is continue using the phone and hope it stops soon or maybe think about replacing it with a better phone

Question Battery screen stats count bug

Hello, i tried to monitor how battery drain and how behave with my usual average use. I think is pretty good:
The only issue is the screen stats, are clearly wrong (or i'm reading it wrong ). Is not possible 2h of screen with 62h of usage, are around 8 or 9h (or more) as you can see from activity bar.
The stats sometimes get for example 3 or 4h, then i check again and i see 1h of screen, how can change screen time to less values ?
Graph & screen on time is correct. But that 62h is something strange. That doesn't match either graph or screen on time
graph show 21h is like all the stats refer to that range. What the purpose of see latest 24h (or less) if the charge last 3days ? My old xioami mi a1 was much more useful on that. btw 2h30min x3 are something like 7h of screen... that's is the counter i was looking and is missing (why guess something is tracked??). nosense.

As I'm using Oppo Find X3 Pro which is better than premium devices when compared, devices that have more Mah battery tend to fail in power management. But Find X3 pro has great battery life. Check the link for further information.

Thanks For sharing information.
Screen on time on average around 7h/day. For me it depends on the apps I'm using, battery is draining faster during filming/editing but still very stable / no quick jumps but equal to usage.
My normal usage with 5h SOT: Phone unplugged at 7.00 AM, around 15% left at 10 PM.

Global
24-30h, 4-5 SOT
Just you to know, I never charge this thing at night. 20 minutes during my breakfast and going on using it all day and next night (not disturb). 5-6h SOT also with gaming and video streaming. I am super satisfied with battery management and especially with charging times.
The battery life isn't quite on par with the P40 or P30 Pro I had previously, but it's totally fine, and definitely not a reason to avoid this phone. I would say around 80-90% as good battery life.
Imho better than the Samsung s10 I had, that was pretty average.
I do run my screen at 60hz but otherwise use all the normal features like Bluetooth connected to a watch all day, camera plenty, music streaming, navigation, WiFi hot-spot etc. Screen timeout is 1min.
Using coloros 12 basically since I got the phone so can't tell you what 11 was like in comparison.
I came to this phone from a long line of Sony flagships, this is FAR superior battery life and agreeing with others in that I feel it's the power management over MaH. I am off work at the mo with a broken back so the phone is getting hammered, main usage is camera (I have 4 young kids and use the camera an awful lot as well as viewing photo's and videos), then Chrome & messaging, watching movies, casting screen to TV. WiFi, BT, NFC, mobile data always on, brightness always 100% except when in bed. Since being off work I no longer charge overnight as it charges so quick, I just plug it in when making dinner or getting a shower. I very rarely have to top it up. Very happy with the battery life.

Can you share a list what did you remove with ADB - what is safe to remove. Thank you
I don't see any apk making significant drain on battery. You can check it yourself in battery stats.
What drains battery is screen on and network coverage and there is not much you can do there anyway.
People claiming that they improved battery usage after removing 50% of apps is just placebo.

Yeah it's just nonsense. You can even see they drain 0% before they are removed so pointless doing it
Battery drain issues over the last few days can be related to the storms we've been seeing.
Networks will be running a reduced power "safe mode" incase of power surges.
It may make your phone work a little bit harder to maintain a signal.
increíble. Sólo wifi.
Todo encendido excepto 5G
Segunda captura 4 horas en modo de espera y aun al 100 %
Solo parada micro G
I am moderate user, 5-6 hrs SOT with Youtube, Netflix, Messaging and Social Media apps and easily drops to 4-5 hrs SOT when I play power-hungry games. I find the battery usage is more or less the same with my previous phone, a Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
Considering Find X3 Pro has more powerful and power-hungry SD888, 120Hz screen, and a bump only 300mah more than my Huawei, I thought it's pretty good. The charging is way better than Huawei, faster and less heat. I usually charge my phone in the morning around 15 mins to 80% (I usually charge my phones to 80% unless I want to test for something.. and once or twice a month i full charged my phone to 100%)
