Samsung Galaxy Note 8 S-Pen on Other Samsung Note Devices

Hi all,
I hope I am posting in the correct section.
Yesterday I gave a try on a new Live Demo Unit of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 S-Pen. The new S-Pen has thinner point and gives better precision when writing.
Tried to use Note 8 S-Pen on my Note 5 device, it also works fine on my Note 5.
You can see the difference of the precision between the S-Pen of Note 8 (below) and my Note 5 (above) on my phone in the attached image. Note 8 pen is precise and thin, my Note 5 pen is thick and leaky.
At this point in time, the price of Note 8 in Europe is still out of my common sense of smartphone price. So I might wait for the price to be reduced even if it doesn't come with the Dex Dock. Meanwhile its new S-Pen which also works fine on my Note 5 makes me crave for it.
I have not got chance to try to change the tip of my S-Pen with Note 8 tip. So, my question is, do you know if I can somehow increase the precision of my Note 5 or earlier Samsung Notes S-Pen by only changing the tip, or I need to buy Note 8 S-Pen as well?
I think the new pen is just a better pen. I know the note 7's pen was noticeably better than the note 5's pen that I had as a loaner device briefly. In fact, the note 5's worse pen was one of the reasons that when I had to give up my note 7 I didn't stick with a note device. The note 5 was just a huge step backwards. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll be a simple tip change, but you'd have to buy the whole pen, and then it wouldn't fit inside your phone anymore.

The Note8 and Note9 aren't the same phone. Hence one is called 8 and the other 9. They're physically different sizes and I can assure you the internals are different and laid out differently, as well, meaning the battery will be a different size, also.

Like Max said: Different phones, different batteries. Would be a fire hazard anyhow.
I would not mess with the phone's internals, for starters, it will no longer be water resistant, tjere is always the possibility of damaging something, the fire hazzard, etc, the best and safest way is to use a battery pack, I did that with my note 7, bouhjt an original samsung one, and it is working really fine to this very day
didnt somebody port the Note 9 battery to Note 8 lately? /s
I don't think the Note 9's battery would fit in the Note 8. As it is much larger than the battery found in the Note 8. Which is why the Note 9 is slightly larger in depth than the Note 8.

s pen nibs/tips from note 8..fit now 9.?

I have a few note 8 spen nibs. /tips... anyone try them in note 9......?
Yes, they're the same. I got quite a few with note 8, but with the note 9, just two

I figured that they would fit as the Note 8 and Note 9 S-Pens are quite similar. With the exception that the Note 9's S-Pen has additional Bluetooth features.

Lol.... I did the same cos I was disappointed to find the Noote 9 came with just 2 nibs
I promptly removed the spare nibs from the Note 8 before I sent it back

Have you tried the Note 10 S-pen on Note 9 with the latest version of Air-Command?

Hello to all, I had a doubt about the fact that, with the latest version of Air-Command ( 4.1.01) installed on the Note 9 and the pairing with the S-pen of the note 10/10+ the new gestures could work. I currently don't have a S-pen 10 or 10+ so I ask you if you can do this simple test to see if it works.:good:
Anyway the note 10s spen won't fit in the note 9s housing for his spen... so, even if it might work, won't be useful.

Yes you are certainly right, but in case you need those gestures, you can bring a S-pen with you, it should not be difficult for anyone. And this is a test only for knowledge.

Does note 9 s pen fits in silo of note 9

So my note 9 pen damaged I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on a new one, I found that the the note 8 pen is pretty cheap I was wondering whether it will fit in the silo. also other than Bluetooth connectivity are there any difference between the two?
Note 9 pen is slightly larger than the Note 8 one - size wise yes, it will fit, but it will likely be loose and fall out unless held in by something.
I know for a fact that the Note 9's S-Pen fits in the Note 8. So the Note 8's S-Pen should fit in the Note 9 without any issues. As you have stated the only differences between the two S-Pen's is that the Note 9 has Bluetooth features. Otherwise they are both function the exact same
I have the spare note 8 S pen and it won't work with my note 9. Not sure if it's a bluetooth thing picking up the 9 pen but either way my little test didn't work. Could be doing something wrong but might be worth testing out before spending money and it not work.

Check your S-pen settings. There is one that allows multiple pens to work. I believe it is off by default...
Have the Notes 8, 9 & 10+, S-pen from each works on all...
older model spen will not work on newer models. I have tried that. Like my note 3 note 4 pen did not work on note 9. but note 9 pen worked on note 3 and note 4. same is the case with note 8. You can use note 9 pen on note 8 but not opposite. sorry for my bad english. hope it will help.

Bulldust... As I said above, Note 8 S-pen works on Note 9 and 10+... And vice versa...
I also have the ORIGINAL NOTE from waaaay back and that S-pen ALSO works on ALL the models listed...
The base tech HAS NOT CHANGED...
Check you settings for the S-pen as there is a setting to use multiple S-pens that must be turned on otherwise, if an S-pen is docked and you try to use another S-pen, the touches won't register...
The ONLY thing that won't work is, of course, the bluetooth stuff as the older models didn't have this...
Long story short, S-pen from any Note series phone WILL work on any other Note AS LONG AS THAT PESKY SETTING IS CHANGED...
Anyone who says different is wrong unless talking about the bluetooth part. That is hardware and model specific...
It means they haven't looked at the S-pen settings and changed it.

I did look and didn't like the battery warning. I also left the 9 pen in the other room. Could be a counterfeit note8 pen. Like I said spare.
Thanks for the info. It's good to know. Will see what happens when I change the settings and test that pen. Guessing I bought it off Amazon lol.

Shouldn't matter as long as it has the wacom tech like an original S-pen... I have a heap of cheap 3rd party s-pens lying around I bought for the 9 a long time ago on ebay. They all work but as they don't have the bluetooth part that of course doesn't work on the 9 and 10+.
I also have a note 10.1, 10.1(2014 edition) and a Tab S4. These pens are also interchangeable...
Cheers guys...
Should also note, if the original S-pen is removed from the phone, ANY S-pen should work whether the setting is for multiple or not... If you are trying out the S-pen with your original in the phone it is detected and the 2nd pen won't work. Try removing your original pen and try with the replacement. It will also work. No need to change setting then and worry about battery warning...
