Has anyone succeeded at installing the official bundled gray S Pen tip?
It seems thicker than the other two and falls out quite easily after insertion using the tool.

Mine inserted and stayed in fine. Are all of yours like how you describe? Mine contained a 3 pack of tips.
All of the black ones fit for me but not the single gray one.
I think you may be referring to the white tip? If I'm not mistaken my phone came with a white tip on it and 3 gray / 3 black? Mine fit fine
Samsung store provided a replacement tip which works fine inside the original S pen. Free of charge.

Used one of those elmers painting pens for pastic. For not taking apart my nexus it came out fairly well.
Got the idea after seeing that article about carphone warehouse listing a 32gb nexus and a galaxy nexus 2. the picture they had of a nexus had a black trim. went to walmart and bought the paint pen asap.

That looks nice.
Would be nice if you post more pictures

I'm at work. I'll post more pics when I get home.
Took some pics on my break. Going to redo it tonight now that I got some masking tape. I'll feel more confident getting closer to the screen.
just curious if using Gaffer tape would be easier. it's strong enough and it's removable

I would use a low-tack masking tape, gaffer tape (duct tape) would be far too adhesive IMO.
Transmitted from either Nexus7 - Tab2 - GT-N7000 - i9100
Gaff tape doesn't have the nasty adhesive of duct tape (until it gets old and dried out/dusty ). It would look all weird though because it's like a fabric.
I might have to do this to my nexus as well. Mainly because the silver paint chipped off a little bit on the top.

the elmers paint pen comes off pretty easy with your nail but stays on during regular use just fine. i've already stripped it to redo again tonight. beware though, you will run out of paint in the pen by the time your done.
Someone should attempt this using Plasti-Dip. If you don't know what it is, it's like spray paint, but it creates a rubbery layer over whatever you spray, and you can peel it off later if you don't like it. It's very popular DIY product for cars.
I did some googling and it looks like some people have already attempted using it on phones, usually battery covers and cases, but I think it should work fine for this, and I'd be very curious to see the results.

Looks great. That is the one cosmetic problem with the nexus 7 Imo.

Looks like my Nexus 7 I got at the Google I/O conference. The ones with the white backs they gave out also have black trims.
I think its funny the the pic they show on the N7 box shows one with a black trim not silver. Haha
Im tempted to try this, but first I want to do what another user posted and colour the X on the back in the Nexus Colours.
He used tape and it looked awesome.
Could be a nice little project its just buying a whole roll of coloured tape (For each colour = 4!) for a little strip is pointsless haha :/
Not bad Op. Time to get the guts together and do the same

I added another layer last night and now it looks even better. I may smooth down any rough spots and give it another layer tonight. Will post pics later.

I agree. The trim should have been black from the start, and aluminium or stainless steel painted black would have been great!

I wonder, can the silver trim be separated from the body? This would make changing it to black much easier.
I own an ATT I 317 running in an international ROM (blue theme). I successful installed the NFC hack ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031127) thanks to WarlockLord. I had no problems using NFC with OEM cover until I removed the antenna from OEM cover and placed it on the brushed aluminum cover. It appears the thin layer of metal blocks out the communication both ways. Antenna worked fine when I placed it on the OEM mastic cover.
The actual cover is strong and durable, and doesnt creak from time to time like the oem plastic. The only reason I post this thread is because I have seen other members wonder if NFC would work with a cover like this. (Maybe this is why Samsung uses plastic...) I will only be returning it for a grey metal, and possibly look into modifying it..

Then you'll have a second back that won't work. If it's got *any* metal in it, it won't work.
Just to make sure, the antenna must go on the inside of the case to make the connections. Not trying to be a smart [email protected]@.

Okay just making sure, I've been know to do stupid stuff like that sometimes. The Asus tf201 has similar problem with wifi because of the metal back. Not much can be done.
On a side note it will help against EMP's

How did you go about removing the NFC antenna from the OEM case? I've recently purchased a non-original flip cover that doesn't have the antenna (it does have plastic moulding in the same position and shape as the original antenna although this isn't actually a blank hollowed out section).
Can we start a discussion around this replacement inner bezel/frame?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ACCESKE/
Specifically I'd like to know if this is compatible with SCH-I605, the Verizon wireless variant of SGN2. I've searched for an iFixit teardown or anything else that might show the internal frame on the VZW version but no luck. Anyone have info on this?

Just a thought..

Near the bottom of that (mobile browser) there is a link to contact the seller "IDS Online Shop"
Seems like a good place to start.
I couldn't see why it wouldn't work, given that I believe the dimensions of the VZW Gn2 are the same.
I've thought about this too, the problem is the pins are raised so they make contact with the battery cover, there's already like 3 threads about this

You can use a thin rolled strip of copper tape to overcome the fact that the pins aren't raised on the VZW version. The thread on wireless charging mod shows how to do this.

Same here! I dropped my SGN2 and the silver bezel look awful. Ive been trying to hide it using covers but I would really like to replace it. Ive contacted many suppliers in my country, the only solution was to replace the bezel and the screen all together. That would cost me around 300 $s. Any other solutions?
Any luck OP? I want wireless charging in my Note 2 :fingers-crossed:

I ordered that one, I think same seller name miao miao.
The spen from outside looks 90% same as oem. Only the tip color the white a bit off not as clean as oem, like painted or something.
The second one is the samsung brand on the metal abit different, not in a bad way, just different if you compared side by side.
It is acts exactly like the oem. Where you press the button it acts differently than when you dont press, just like oem.
The problem is .... I cant use it.
It's over sensitive, the screen reacted when the tip is a quarter inch away, and theres no way to adjust the sensitivity since there is no potentiometer inside that we can turn it to adjust like the oem.
Not sure I got the defective one or all like that, but the seller is sending a replacement that I havent got yet.
Nice... keep me updated

The S-Pen that came with my note 2 works from 1/2 inch away and I can use it just fine. 1/4 of an inch shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe I'm too anal, but it's a problem for me, I flip the homescreen to the right, a slight movement on air makes it moves back to left. On note, I draw something, takes the spen off the screen, and its still drawing something while hovering.
My OEM spen, it only works when it touch the screen, and I expect no less than that.
If it truly works like the OEM there should be a way to adjust the knock off spen. There are multiple posts about the adjustments.
I've had two spens and the spen with the eraser and I've had to adjust them all. Lol

That's what I've been trying to find, on oem, under the button I can see the potentiometer, but not on this fake one.
Hi all,
I'm planning to replace my N7105's midframe (the chrome bit going around the sides of the phone), and was wondering whether anyone had any experiences with doing this? I'm really worried that if I take the midframe off, the power or volume buttons may not work on the new one etc etc.
I was hoping to follow THIS guide from iFixIt to do it.http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Samsung+Galaxy+Note+II+Midframe+Replacement/16407
It should be fine. Just make sure that when replacing the midframe, you put the headphone jack end in first, because it has a rubber grommet that can get caught in between the screen and the midframe if you put it in last.

Interesting!!!
Dude ,
I also want to do same. Please let me know the best midframe u find till date with price if possible with link also.
Thanks in advance.
I tried doing it with 2 different midframes and both ended up messing up my WiFi and Bluetooth. Note sure why, all the contacts were connecting. When I went back to the original they both worked fine. Let me know if that happens when you change yours.

I too had this problem when I replaced the midframe once. Later I bought a new one and the problem was solved. You should tighten up the screws near the microsd slot.

"Aluminum Metal Bumper Case cover for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 Gray"
