Whats the best balanced rom for no lag and best battery? I dont do any kind of gaming.
I guess nougat roms is better for battery
like viper os, lineage os 14.1 and jdc
Kernel soda 1.2.1 and floppy
you can test combinations between them, or stock
Stock roms always have better battery and stability.
I'd suggest a china based mod, like Masik, MIUI MS or Xiaomi.eu. With latest betas you get up to 5:30 hours SOT and they're Oreo based. Older Nougat releases reached 6:30hrs.
I am very happy with aex.mod rom. Good battery life and absolutely good gaming performance. I put on test with antutu , gpu performance better than eu rom almost 10k point. Battery performance over 5 hours.

In the last 3 month I've tested Nitrogen OS, Xenon HD, Cm 14.1 and now I'm on Mokee:
Nitrogen Os is, by far, the rom with more feature. But it's "laggy", or less smother then other. - Never got a roboot/SOD
Xenon HD, have a good balance of feature an stability, but not the best battery life. - Some sod (1/week)
Cm 14 was good, very little features but good battery and scheduled ota update. - Some reboot (2/week)
Mokee like Cm has very few features, but a unespected battery life I've got 3h screen over 4 days (20% charge left). - 1 sod on last 5 days
I am using RESURRECTION REMIX ROM over CM 14.1 and it is just awesome give it a try and you will forget other roms :good:
I'm using Lineage OS now, less memory used smoothly and else
AOSP all the way. You don't need much extra features in nougat and it's it's fast with amazing battery life.
I'm using Official RR remix rom Nougat and I was wondering if there is any kernel that i can use to extend battery life with. I dont want to severely underclock so i cant play any games or anything. Maybe something in the middle between battery and performance.
The kernel will help with underclocking, but it's even better if you combine it with the AKT profiles.
There are 3-5 profiles to choose from, targeting to battery, performance or balance between these 2.
Unleashed by ONEPLUS 3T rooted
Go for Blackbird V1.1
Awesome battery backup on other roms compared to RR.
But better than many other kernel with regards to battery
Hello.
I'll be unlocking my bootloader soon, at first I wanted to install the Xiaomi EU rom but then I found out about all these beautiful ROMs and I couldn't decide.
I don't like the Pixel Experience ROM because I don't have that freedom of editing/customize the theme etc.
The Resurrection Remix ROM seems the best in that case, and I've heard it's also great performance wise.
What Kernel should I use with it? Does it drain much battery? More than standard MIIUI?
Thank you in advance
Generally, the kernel included with the ROM will be most stable, I use RR Oreo + Gabriel back then, it was almost compareable battery life (or drain a lot more) but heats more than what Xiaomi.eu + Gabriel for me and that might just be what makes RR drain more.
You can try Clarity and maybe it performs better, but generally I like Gabriel better because of how much you can tweak the kernel
Clarity sounds cool, which version should I download?
There's one with the CPU overclocked and one without the overclock

Obviously without overclock is best with your battery, if you want a balance I would set the BIG cores at stock frequency, and overclock the LITTLE cores for whatever, which I am not sure if Clarity can do, but I heard 2.9 has been good, though you will miss out on lots of updatea up to 3.7
Clarity works very good no issues latest version is 3.8
I'm looking for a new Oreo ROM for my device and care deeply about battery life. I wish I could stick with MIUI for that reason but because of how it handles notifications I can't stick with it. I'd love to hear suggestions on which ROM people would suggest

Oreo Global Beta 8.5.24 which was the last beta that MIUI updated this late is the best Rom to use in terms of battery life. I have tested just about all the Oreo Modified Stock Roms even EU Miui and Miui Pro, and these types of Roms don't quite work well because of and RCS Service drain.. which is a problem. The current Oreo based Rom are having heat issues currently: I have tried AICP, Pixel Experience, Lineage 15.1.. all have abnormal temperature when the phone is idle or doing minor tasks. Last i used Cdroid, i also went back to 8.5.24 after a day of testing Cdroid. I always compare all the roms to Miui 8.5.24 because compared to the current 9.5.6.0 stock and the previous 9.5.2.0. ~ You can tell the difference of battery usage. Oreo based Roms versus Oreo 8.5.24 very big difference in CPU handling and heat accumulation.
After testing many custom ROMs, my two favourites are Havoc OS and Pixel Experience. As these tend to be the most popular for users of mi 8 custom ROMs, I would like to ask the community which one has best stability, battery life and ram management. I do not use my phone for gaming so gaming performance is not really a concern.
I've recently down the rounds on the latest android 10 ROMs.
For me I preferred pixel experience out the 2 you have stated, seemed more stable and more importantly for me android auto was working where as it doesn't currently in havoc. Havoc does have more customisations though.
Havoc has just released an update which I'm yet to try, but for the time being I'm back to the latest Xiaomi EU ROM weekly, as it's rock solid. I will give the aosp builds a couple of months and to get android 10 stable and try them again.
This is all based on my experience / phone usage, so what works for me, may not be right for you

For me xiaomi eu was brilliant, but regarding battery life (which is ageing in my unit - it's from 09.2018), eu was not giving me enough to survive without recharging. On Aosp it's still 30% when only 15% on eu. I use EvoX currently, as it has least issues and glitches, and it's the only rom apart from Eu where all my banking apps work. I think you can only find the answer between your two Roms, if you find someone who switch between them after at least few days of usage.
Well, I'm using Havoc and it seems very nice. I prefer it to Pixel Experience because you can customize every single thing, but both are good. Very good battery life, about 7h screen on time. If you're looking for a MIUI Based rom with a good battery life, I recommend RevOS MIUI, it will surprise you.
