I know it get updates, but are they faster to get them compared to the other US variants? (Tmobile, sprint, etc...)
Never bought a phone straight from Samsung before..

I buy my phones directly from Samsung, once I insert the SIM card it reset to my carriers CSC, therefor I get the updates when the carrier releases them.

Good luck with the updates my friend. samsung's variant gets updated on a quarterly basis, like once in 3 months. carrier variants get them monthly or bi-monthly, at least on the security updates.

Not until they release he Exynos version of Oreo. If you flash the Snapdragon version it's bricksville for you...

Why samsung do take so long for updating the new firmwares??!!! Is there a chance to get it now?

Because Sammy OS is heavily modded to their linking so it will take time for them to get it all up and running and then testing and then some more testing.

carriers release updates to use on THEIR network; it doesnt matter one bit who you bought the phone from..
thats common knowledge in the cellular world.. Google is the only sometimes "exception", but if their phones are sold by any carrier, i.e. when t mobile sold the nexus 6, it was T Mobile who released/approved updates, NOT Google

it does matter.
in Europe, if you don't get your phone through a carrier you get the F model.
while other variants get their updates through the carrier, F models always get their updates directly from Samsung.
until the note 8 the unbranded models(like the F models) where always first to get updates, because no carrier approval is needed.
edit: correction.
there are carrier specific F models, the carrier branding is in the csc in those cases.
any phone bought from Samsung directly or a store that isn't tied to a carrier will always have an "unbranded" csc in Europe.

Hello,
What model should / would we be able to get to work on Verizon that can have an unlocked boot loader, TWRP and install custom roms.
My understanding from reading here is that no US model will work. What foreign model is best for getting the above done on Verizon.
Its about time to say goodbye to my note 4.
Thanks
i am going to rock an unlocked USA model on verizon, not sure there is one that will work on verizon with unlocked bootloader

I have a friend with the Latin American S9+ Snapdragon that's bootloader unlocked on Verizon. He told me he just flashed the Puerto Rico firmware to get signal. I'll be trying the same thing as soon as the Odin files are up on Updato for the Note 9 Latin version. I'll update when I have some real results.

The Samsung UNLOCKED = "Unbranded" i.e. generic software. It doesn't mean that its bootloader unlocked.
When using the USA unlocked/unbraded GS8/Note8/GS9 there were a few limits on the USA carriers... While calling/data/sms works, Carrier specific features like Wifi Calling, VoLTE, Visual Voicemail, etc. varied. I expected that would apply to the unlocked/unbranded Note 9 too. For unlocked on ATT, there is a VVM app in the Google Play Store that works, but if I recall correctly, Wifi Calling and VoLTE didn't work. For Verizon, at first there wasn't a VVM app, but there is one in the GALAXY app store now that works (and now will auto install when Verizon sim is in the phone if you open the Galaxy App Store). VoLTE (aka HD Voice) works. Wifi Calling and Verizon's Video Calling features do not work. T-Mobile seems most compatible with the Unlocked/Unbranded device as all of its features work out of the box. with a T-Mobile SIM, except you have to download the VVM app from Google Play Store.
Now that my Unlocked (aka Unbranded) Note 9 from Samsung USA arrived, I can confirm that just like my past unlocked/unbranded Galaxy devices on Verizon.... Bootloader is locked, SIM is unlocked. Wifi Calling and Verizon's Video Calling don't work. For Visual Voice Mail there is an app in the GALAXY App Store (that will install after you insert Verizon SIM and open the Galaxy App Store). And the rest works just like my Verizon branded GS8/Note8/GS9 devices.
Tethering check on unlocked version?

Does your version check for hotspot eligibility? In the past the unlocked versions have not checked (Note 8, etc.) but want to be absolutely sure with the Note 9 before ordering. Thanks.
All the research I've done points towards the 9600 (Latin America or wherever else the model is sold) being the best choice for verizon. The only fly in the ointment is it does not as far as I can find support band 13. I have seen threads in some other forums about enabling bands but don't know if it would be possible. Hope that helps.

It's probably just the firmware that it ships with. On the Latin s9 and S9+ you just had to flash the Puerto Rico firmware to have all bands and Volte working. I'm thinking it will be the same way for the Note 9. I'm just waiting on the Odin files to be released and I'm purchasing one immediately to try.

Hey boys, I'm from Sydney and ordered my phone through Telstra
I later find out that Samsung will sell dual sim version through normal shops and single sim with all operators ( vodafone, telstra etc )
now that's my question.
will I be able to use dual sim if I buy a sim tray which allows 2 sim and flashing a firmware from dual sim version or the dual sim version has a different hardware too?
thanks

My wife and I are looking to upgrade our phones to the Samsung Galaxy s10 and S10+.
We are considering the Snapdragon US Unlocked version as well as the Exynos Unlocked International version. We have some hesitations on both ends.
1. Will the US version get regular updates like the international? Less? More?
2. Are the reports really true about how bad the Exynos is in terms of battery life? (performance is probably not noticeable to us, but battery is KEY)
Thank you in advance for your help.
(please post any sources as I would like real use cases rather than speculation)
Really depends where you live and where you will be primarily using the phone.
Don't get the exynos if possible. It's really crappy

You're in the US. The only option for you if you want a warranty that will let you walk into any Samsung center and get a repair or replacement then the Snapdragon is the only option. If you want to root and all that, then you'll want the international version what will have no warranty in the US, and even if it did, rooting would kill the warranty anyway.

The unlocked will get updates after the locked versions in the US, it's the way Samsung does it. I just went through the Pie beta program, and some of the International models did get Pie befire the US models also. We're not talking about months but it was a couple or so weeks.

Hmmm...no warranty, no Samsung Pay, and not 100% compatible radio bands. Doesn't seem worth it to get a faster update. Especially since you can load the Pie beta on your N950U1 right now. It's very, very stable, by the way. I've been running Pie on my N950U1 for two months now.
