Kirin 970, the SoC powering P20 Pro, has no built-in FM radio receiver.
Only internet radio is available.

Ok, we'll have to settle..
thank you!!
This sucks iv got pro 30pro and im totally shocked theres no fm radio. After all its a top phone
The P20 Pro does not have an FM receive in the phone. This has become a fairly rare feature to be included in flagships lately.
Even if the chipset have FM receiver, those phones without headphone jack won't be able to use FM since it requires external antenna to be attached.

Hi There,
I would like to throw sugestion or request (if someone already found it) for application which can replace external FM transmeter.
I am noob to this, but was wondering if our radio can do Wifi Router kind of thing than what about FM Waves?? Is it possible release fm waves so we can play music on phone through car's FM Radio or other FM radio?
I am sorry if this sounds silly question or request.
Thanks.
bro !
a hardware is needed to do this action n it is not ANY related to wifi !
Hey apex,
Thanks for information.

good point, but it's not true
how you know that its not true? nobody tried that! maybe its only to revert the process of receiving RF signals
You need to have the hardware send fm signals. Our phones don't have the right hardware to do that.
i heared that hd7 have no f radio , and also on htc site it lists microsoft internet radio no hardware fm radio
last time I checked WP7 specs consisted of
*1 GHz ARM v7 "Cortex/Scorpion" or better processor
*256MB of RAM with at least 8GB of Flash memory

*DirectX9 rendering-capable GPU
*5-megapixel camera with flash

Those specs look wrong. It's got a snapdragon and 576 ram.

The chances of HTC NOT using the same wifi/bluetooth/fm chip they've used on their past phones this year are very slim.
Meaning, fm tuner is built in hardware wise.

I think you'll find he posted the minimum specification requirements set out by Microsoft, and so no Windows Phone 7 should come without FM Radio, but what do I know - I haven't got the HD7.... yet.
So can any owners confirm if it has hardware fm radio and not just internet radio please?
The HD7 DOES have FM Radio it can be found under the Music & Video Hub
You do need the headphones pluged in though
yeah fm wont work without headphones, says
"No antenna
this phone uses your headphones as and FM radio antenna, To listen to the radio, connect your headphones."
FYI you don't need to plug in headphones to listen to the radio on loud speaker. you can also just plug in any kind of adaptor (without the headphone leads) such as a headphone splitter and it will still work.

ummmmm snapdragon is a scorpion / A8 core
secondly those are MINIMUM specs, 256MB is the MINIMUM not required
thirdly, MS requires this for the Zune application. It's a common basic feature of the OS, it has to have an FM radio in it.

Great question - just tried and No, you need to have 'something' plugged into the headphone jack so that the phone thinks there is a cord to use as an antenna.
does mi 410 has a fm transmitter .... as i cannot find abouts it chip ....... also is their any software for it .. i couldnot find any soft in the market
* i read somewhere that droid supports fm transmission *
Sent from my CSL-MI410

He mean FM radio transmitter, not receiver. Which you can transmit your music being played trough FM radio transmitter and received by any other device with FM radio receiver (usually using FM radio in the car).
actually fm transmitter & receiver are on same chip nothing work as a single component..
the thing is that we don't have fm transmission app.
i would search for a third party one & let you guys know if a found one..

is it? that would be very nice if we get a third party application
Its not possible by an app. Coz. Its not coded into android system libraries & not possible to design a specific for different model as they have different antennas of soc chip

Are you sure that we have FM transceiver in our device? And in the same chip? It's great if we have it, since their technology is quite big different, but very possible to integrated in one chip.
I interested, may be you already knew what chip is it (chip type)? Maybe I can use it in my hardware project. Thanks.
My Spirit FM app is reported to be at least partly working on X6 u9000 now
See this for some details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19588094&postcount=1648
Latest test package is here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5381ub38p0a1uym/Spirit_FM_Radio_v111122.apk .
I don't think I can even get one of these phones here in Canada. Maybe I
should ask Huawei to send me one...
--------------
I think the FM is in the main Qualcomm SOC (chip). It's almost impossible to find any information on this chip, except for the code in the Qualcomm Code Aurora FM app.
That code DOES support transmit, but I have no idea if the X6 hardware can also handle transmit.
Among the many, many hundreds (or thousands?) of Android phones out there, only a few support FM transmit in the hardware. AFAIK this is only a few made by Sharp for Japan domestic use.
So I'm EXTREMELY pessimistic that this phone could support FM transmit. I think it makes FCC etc certification more expensive and it takes longer. But who knows...
AFAICT only this phone and the X5 use this Qualcomm Tavarua FM.
@mike
i just downloaded ur sprit fm radio .... can u tell me how to config it ¿

Good Morning. I say hello again because I have not written in the forum for a long time.
I have the Xiaomi Mi A2 4/64 un muy hands, which I liked but I can not find the way to activate the FM radio.
When I use *#*#6484#*#* to enter in the test the FM radio is not in the list. So I suspect that it will not be possible to activate it with root
Could someone confirm to me that it is definitely not possible to use FM radio in My A2 with android 8.1? ITS posibely a problem of mi Phone?
Thank you very much for your help.
As it doesn't have a headphone jack there is probably no way to use the headphones as an antenna. That's why there is no FM radio most likely
But it does have a headphone jack, you just have to use the adapter. I don't know if that could then be used as an antenna or not, seems plausible though.
An FM radio, to me, is kind of a Safety thing. All phones should have them.
Hi,
in the parallel branch there is the following information:
"Mi 6X supports extra features (disabled in Adndroid One firmware) as FM Radio, APT-X APTX-HD and LDAC Bluetooth audio (LDAC comes to all Mi A2 on Android 9 update, confirmed by beta testers, maybe APT-X too, don't count on FM radio unless it is officially exported to the US where will be mandatory to enable it)"
So I hope and believe that someone sometime will unlock FM module

Let's hope this is possible without reverse engineering
Wait, we have the HW for FM? I can't find the 6x official presentation page to confirm this...

the Mi 6X has FM radio, the feature is disabled by Google request, unless Xiaomi launches the A2 in USA google wont allow the FM radio feature (in the US will be mandatory to enable FM function if supported by HW), all Qualcomm powered SPh in the USA should be able to install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextradioapp.nextradio a generic FM radio APP, Google even dont allow Pixel's FM radio thru this app.

This possibility was there before the last update via two ways .... Or with * # * # 6484 # * # * or with "Activity Launcher" from playstore :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
_unfortunately, after the last update this possibility no longer exists (maybe in the future it will come again...who know?)
Activity launcher from the play store has the ability to view the FM radio test. It says failed though :/
MI A2 Jasmine Radio FM
I have rooted my A2 Jasmine and I have installed Spirit FM but it tells me that the radio cip could be disabled and the FM radio does not work. Someone is working to get the FM radio on the A2 Jasmine?

January update did not bring me FM radio so this is an other Fake News message.
need advice re: next radio app version 6.0 2492 installed. message "...can't access fm receiver...". 8.1.1 fm radio preinstalled on mi a2 lite. does 8.1.1 need to be uninstalled or force stop, to enable 6.0?
I think you're in the wrong sub-forum, this is for the Mi A2 phone (has no usable FM chip) , not the Mi A2 Lite.
I found this online and can confirm it works with the Verizon variant of the V50. It's version 7.20.12. You must allow installations from non-trusted sources under settings/security to install this app. Enjoy!!
You can download it from android file host HERE.
Enjoy!
Screenshots of installed app.
UPDATED 8.6.2019 - Download link updated to provide LG FM Radio version 7.20.12. Thanks to @Inerent for informing me of the newer version of this app.

Thanks for sharing. I had installed v7.0.16 on my LG G7+ and I realized that it was buggy with lots of noise while listening to certain stations. Now I've installed this upgrade (v 7.10.8) and it works like a charm. Thanks a lot

Did you know that It's a similar app from LG called TV? It scans, with the headphones, for local TV stations. Pretty cool!

Sent you PM
Just installed it on my LG G8. Thanks!
I heard there is a TV Tuner App for the LG; is this true?
I have the European model LG V50 - LVM500EM. I installed the FM radio apk app from external source. At first, it was installed like a charm. But when I tried to turn it on it won't work at all. The weird thing is it recognised the earphone not connected when I unplugged it.
Then I installed NextRadio apk and it saying that my phone supports FM radio. Again, it won't work when I turned it on.
Is there something wrong with the device? A help would be appreciated.

Radio fm in lg g8s?
hello, could the fm radio work with nextradio on LG G8s European version?
I've tryed, it doesn't seem to work on g8s
Hello everyone I introduce myself, I am new to this forum.
I have had the version LMV500EM and I have had to return it after two days for not being able to activate the radio, with no version of the LG radio apk or NEXTRADIO. The latter, gives a congratulatory message after detecting the existence of the radio chip, indicates that the headphones are connected, but does not search for any station.
Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I would buy this mobile again if it were possible for the FM radio to work. It is essential for me.
Thank you.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm having the same problem with my LG V60 Thinq. LM-V600EA. I can install the FM radio app but it won't start the radio. It gives a message to plug in headphones if none are in, but once I plug some in clicking the on button does nothing. I even have the correct APK from another V60 Thinq variant. I think it is sickening that LG does this and I will be returning the phone and never buying any more LG products ever again.
True. In the end for this reason I had to buy the Korean version. The radio is activated, but in return I have network problems with Spanish operators and some texts and applications that always appear in Korean language. This region policy is a shame.
I'm using version 9.20.16 of LG's FM Radio app on an LG K51 (LM-K500UM). Has anyone found a previous version of the app that doesn't require that Bluetooth must be off to play the fm radio? The NextRadio app does run when Bluetooth is connected to a headset, but it detects audio re-routing and "thinks" the headphone wire has been disconnected and insists that a headset be plugged in for use of its cord as an antenna. The LG FM Radio app toasts "Cannot start FM Radio while Bluetooth headset is connected." Therefore, I can't use my Bluetooth speaker, which doesn't have a built-in tuner, as I have done with other setups in the past, to wirelessly play the fm radio through it. I use Lesser AudioSwitch and SoundAbout as audio routers. Thanks for any help with this. Incidentally, my phone isn't rooted, so I can't use Mike Reid's Spirit FM app.

Same situation and same model, bought fully expecting it to have fm radio, would also appreciate help too
I am starting to suspect that LG has disabled fm on LVM500EM and that US and Korean versions can support it
