Hi guys,
I purchased an A2 a month ago and my device still shows security patch level : 5 June 2018. I have not received any OTA updates since I got the phone. What can I do to get the OTA to work? Will a factory reset help? Otherwise is there a step by step guide to update my phone?
I am not very tech savvy when it comes to phones and use my phones as it is without any tweaks to the software so pardon my ignorance in advance. Thank you.
Solution : Use a foreign SIM card from a different country. Issue is country specific to Singapore.
Have you gone into Settings ->System ->System Updates and manually clicked Check for Update?
It's a MiA2? I'd double check that by going to one of the many IMEI check websites and verifying which model it is. Something's not right.
I have to agree with the above posts as i have had my Mi A2 2 days and already received an OTA for the September security update, a factory reset wont harm to try.

Yes I did. Several times.
Ok. So i have checked my imei at xiaomi verification site and it says its A2 global version. I guess next step is a factory reset?
I have just performed a factory reset and there is still no OTA update. Next thing I will try to install the ROM from xiaomi website. http://en.miui.com/download-353.html
Is there anything else I can do if this doesn't work? Thanks guys.

No I do not sir . Googling up how to get it done.
So I have tried to flash the rooms version 9 and 10 without any success. It keeps saying device mismatch. I get a config error when using the miflash tool as well. I have installed adb and unlocked my phone too. What the hell is wrong?

Kind of a silly question but...
Where did u get your IMEI from? The box it came in? Or what the phone itself reports it to be?
If it is from the phone, I'd call Xiaomi support and ask why you aren't getting the updates you know others A2 owners are getting.

I got it from the phone itself (not the box) and I did not buy it from the local Xiaomi store hence the reluctance to contact the local support staff.

I got wrong device with the flash_all fastboot script also once. The next time I started fastboot and tried again it just worked. Do you have fastboot at your disposal?

This is just because you didn't unlock the critical partitions . You need to run fastboot flashing unlock_critical before flashing the rom.

You are a lifesaver. I thought I bricked my phone just now. But eventually I was able to update my phone using fastboot and miflash after unlocking the critical partition as per ur command lines. However, yet to see if my OTA will come in for future updates. When I was on 9 version I checked and it still wasn't there. So i flashed the 10 version as well. Thank you very much. .
I'm thinking Xiaomi pulled all OTA updates when they pulled the September one.
Have you tried to sideload the OTAS?
I suggest doing over ADB

I tried to flash recovery using fastboot but everytime now matter what I do this shows up:

try using a different fastboot besides the one you are using. also make sure you are trying to flash the right FW version. you can't downgrade FW so it needs to be the FW version that is currently on the device.
try the second link in the OP of this thread for a different fastboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2489249
Flashing recovery requires a unlocked boot loader, you're obviously on Verizon and unless you have a DE moto you can't flash recovery due to your boot loader being locked

EDIT 3: Okay, just flashed a new kernel and the WiFi is working now. Must have been the stock kernel for some reason.
So all problems solved now
EDIT 2: Succesfully flashed the ROM, but unable to connect to Wifi. When I press the on button, it switches on for a second and then switches off again. Any idea guys why?
I've been trying to flash the stock ROM, but can't because as soon as I begin with the first step i.e fastboot flash partition gpt.bin, the following error is displayed- fastboot preflash validation failed.
Now I've been reading up on the forums here and a some have said that this error occurs when someone tries to downgrade. But I'm on the latest build and I don't know why this is happening?
Just so everyone knows, I'm unlocked and rooted.
Please, I need help since the ROM I'm on, which by itself is stock, is pretty much not working.
EDIT: The full message on fastboot is as follows

You can ignore gpt.bin and motoboot.bin. They won't flash if the same or lower version. Not a problem. Just continue flashing the other files.

Okay, thanks man, I successfully flashed the ROM. But now I have another problem. I'm not able to switch on my Wifi. When press the on button, it switches on for a micro sec and then switches off. Any idea why?
Don't know. Maybe a reboot. After that I would wipe dalvic, cache and data?

Didn't you read anything of the previous posts?
If you've unlocked your bootloader, and getting these errors, you can safely ignore them. Just carry on flashing the other files.
Carried on
I did carried on with the fastboot steps but I get this "UTAG "flashfail" is configured as fastboot" and I'm still stuck in Bootloader.
How do I change the Kernel?
Oh yeah, I updated to Lollipop about 20 days ago, worked fine until a few days back and suddenly I get these strange errors. What could be the cause though?
Hi all,
I have an incorrect firmware installed for my P10 and lots of things are not working (oreo 8.0). I want to re-flash or rollback to other firmwares but problem is I can't get into TWRP anymore. flashing it doesn't work and although I see in fastboot Phone Unlocked and FRP unlock i have the idea it has to do with the OEM unlock not working properly. It's also not available in the developer options. What;s exactly the link to huawei's page where you can request your phone unlock ID ?
Thanks

First of all, I've tried to update from Nougat to Orea via Blackballs method in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-plus/development/oreo-update-thread-l29c432-t3729907 with the firmware mentioned there
What is not working:
I've managed to do the first part (oreo install), but:
- SImcard has 'No service
- Can't flash TWRP
- Bootloader / phone locked in Fastboot
- I can't remember how I unlocked the P10 last year (I have a P10 L09-VTR, rebranded to L29-VTR and now 'working' on a VKY P10 plus rom)
