Hello.
Do I need to reinstall Magisk or its modules after every OTA update?
For example now I'm using Xiaomi.eu 8.8.30 but I would like to upgrade to the version based on Android Pie 9.0 as soon as it's released. And I would like to do it keeping all my apps and settings, including Magisk.

Hi,
Is it safe to update to .156 from .152, can I still use Magisk to root?
I'm currently using Magisk v16.0 apk 5.6.4 and it kinda works with some crashes and bugs. (the phone has the bootloader unlocked and TWRP by Pretoriano80 installed)
Thanks!

I have to say some 4d predictive focus on camera app is not working for me since b156
I do NOT recommend .156, you will be getting a lot of messages about available patches who will not install correctly as you have the so-called unofficial TWRP bootloader.
What I do recommend is that you update to .157. There is some more info on that in the last posts of the thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...awei-p20-pro-charlotte-l29c432b131-8-t3809964
Magisk 17.1 works just fine on .157.
Thanks, found 2 files for the .157 update (update.zip and update_all_hw.zip.zip) still searching for update_data_full_public.zip, with pro-teammt.r u down, are there any other sources?
Also installed Magisk 17.1 on .152, works much better but now bank app is not starting even with magisk hide (was a terrible app to start, i'll use the browser)
You can also use the app Firmware Finder for Huawei, just search for it on Google Play.
Just had notification of CLT-L09 8.1.0.161(C432) ... I am currently on .159 .. but cannot find any info on what this latest 161 does

No need, worked fine for me. I just installed the OTA update with TWRP and it worked. You might need to reflash Magisk after the update though.
Hi, my device currently on China ROM v2.20 and rooted with Magisk. Is it safe to OTA update to China ROM v2.21?
When I read about Magisk I found it:
"Magisk works systemless-ly, and it doesn’t modify or alter your system partition. If you want to install a banking application or if you want to install official OTA updates, and much more. You can install the OTA updates without losing the root privileges, and that is everyone need. They don’t need to root again and again."
Anyone dare to try?
I have a Google Edition Pixel XL running LineageOS 17.
I miss having root with came with LineageOS 16.
I know almost nothing about Magisk.
Will I need to wipe Data before installing Magisk?
No, wiping data not needed for rooting with Magisk.
Will I need to re-sideload Magisk after each LineageOS weekly update?

read this discussion i love shrimp also weekly update? that too much work only update OS if it would benefit you somehow
I did the weekly LineageOS 17 update (via phone's settings), clicked to reboot, and Magisk is still there and working.
Titanium Backup and other rooted apps still have root.
Am happy with Magisk
I have one app, HEALOW (a medical app), which refuses to run - says my system is modified.
Magisk's safetynet bypass must not be good enough at this time.
But, it is only one app.
I have the Pixel 3XL with Android 9.
Magisk indicates Installed 19.3, latest 22.1
Magisk Manager indicates installed 7.3.2, latest 22.1
I'd like to bring Magisk up to date.
Are there any issues or special procedures for performing this update spanning several versions?
Is there a preferred order to update? Magisk first, then Magisk Manager? Or Manager first?
Is a reboot after each update?
It's always the Magisk app that gets updated first. And the reason why you see such a big jump in the app version is that from Magisk v22 the app and the base are no longer separate. It's all contained within the app. See the release notes for details:
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/releases/22000.html
The reason why you don't see the latest version as v23 (the actual latest release) is that the update channel changed at that point and you won't see the v23 update before you update to v22.1. Rebooting in-between Magisk updates is a good idea. Updating the app all the way to v23 shouldn't be any issue though. You might encounter issues where the app won't recognise such an old Magisk version. I can't remember where the current breaking point is set...
Big update jumps always have the possibility of causing issues and sometimes a clean install might be necessary. But, in theory it should be fine. Just make sure to have a backup of anything important...
