I like the default Yellow contrast of the s pen off screen note. But when you open notes to view your text, the yellow text is hard to see with the white backround. I changed the default yellow to black. But wonder if its possible to change the notes backround to a darker color so I can keep the yellow s pen font.
I've watched alot of hot to and tips and tricks videos and havent seen a work around yet
Not sure if this was always an option as I didn't check until after the recent update to Notes. There's an option to change to color for screen off memos. I changed it to black. It still writes in matching S-pen color while writing the memo, but it's saved in black.

I don't have that option, what version of Samsung notes are you running?
That option only shows up if you select signature color from he SPen menu.

Thanks for this! I went to check how I missed that option, and there was an update available when I clicked for settings in the app. Sure enough, that added the option and it WORKS!
Hi
Yep,
Works, thanks for this tip!!!
Under screen off memo, mine just has a toggle for "Write in signature color". When turned off, the memo is white while writing and saves in black. Much easier to read.
Haven't gotten the update yet

What is the version of the app that's allowing the saved color to be different?
My app is 2.3.01.100. I don't have an update available.
I don't have the option, unless I'm missing something.
Thanks

I like the yellow one and just set the writing to thicker one in screen off memo. There are 5 thicknesses and I set to No.4. No problem then to see the yellow writing in notes with white background.
Good job Samsung! It's a small, but frustrating issue. Nice to see that they fixed it quickly!

Super simple, light weight and works well on Note.
I prefer the one in quick settings. Easy to get to and works well.

"Quick Settings" is an app in the market. You can have it reside in the notification panel, and open it from there. The top right of the window shows a flashlight icon. That can be either configured for the LED light, or the screen.
Why don't you use the flashlight widget on the phone by default? It has 3 settings and it's really convenient. I use it all the time.
I never seen Flash light widget by default on Note. At least not on my Note, there isn't one in list of Widgets to add by default.
Or is it hidden somewhere?

You can see it there that's from a text message. It actually looks like the normal text message icon at first then it turns into the star.
UPDATE: it was the lightflow led app. It has known issues with samsung s6 devices.

Thats what I thought at first as well but that interuption icon is usually on the right hand side of icons. I'm on 5.1.1 as well.
Did samsung make the split screen not resizable?
Before when I used multi window, I could resize the windows, switch their positions etc. But when I use it now, the screen splits into two and that's it. All the other features are taken away.
Is anyone else experiencing this or am I having a bug?
Works fine for me. Minimize the toolbar by tapping anywhere in one of the multi windows, then drag the circle up or down to resize.
Any way to switch it off?

It ain't there man. I tap inside the window, it gets selected as I see the blue square around it, but that circle that u drag to resize, alongside other controls are all missing.
I can't do anything but having two similar sized windows side by side.

Which variant do you have or maybe it's the ROM if not on stock? Here's what my N920T looks like.
Thanks for taking the time my man.
Thats what mine used to look like too up to about a week ago. Mine is N9208 stock. Not even rooted.
It would be strange if samsung decided to disable controls only for this model.
Mine is looking like this now

Have you used that package disabler app to disable any bloat? With me, it was disabling the flashbar service which caused this issue for me until I pinpointed it.

Hey,
I used this on my S8 Plus, and tried it on my Note 8 and it works too. It adds the option for a black navbar back in the Display > Navigation Bar settings. Just install the APK, reboot and head into the settings to turn it on.

Wonder why they removed it. Did they want to avoid screen burn in with this model?
Yea was remove due to burn in or wash out

Thank you much for this, it was driving me nuts and all other colors are lame and are not consistent with a blacked-out theme.
Much appreciated!
Nevermind, the option was blacked out due to black theme. Thanks!
Not seeing where you turn this on. No option in the Navbar settings.

See if this one does, I don't believe it did. If it does it's probably because that's where you have it stored prior to installation.

I can confirm it ask for SD card and Phone permissions, both versions uploaded here in the thread. I went ahead and disabled the permissions and seems to work fine still, even after a restart. Still odd to ask for phone permissions tho

I'm using sd_black from samsung theme store with parts and pieces of several substratum themes and several different layers.
Works on mine once theme controls for Nav bar were turned off.
I know some people are looking for this. I have been searching through a lot of posts and found some Apk's that didn't work or worked through the Samsung theme blaba. I found one that works without too much trouble, install and reboot! Sometimes it will ask to be Uninstalled when you delete a app. Just click cancel, sorry for original maker but I cannot find the post where I found the Apk.
Make sure to have an alternate way of navigating before installing!

I love the concept but long home press stops working, and alternatives to the nav bar dont work in secure mode.
Does any one know of a working navbar height reducer?
I have tried a few apk's that were working on S8+ but they have no effect on Note 8.
Thanks in advance

What I'd prefer is the ability to see my nav icons only across the entire system, across all apps, but make the background of the nav bar transparent. Using no themes. Stock. Does that make sense? Things are transparent whilst I'm on the home screen, naturally. So that's not an issue. But across all apps? That's what I'd LOVE to have.

I believe both of those are the same because I am having the same issue. I think the problem is my fingers are too fat to properly hit those smaller icons. :silly:
Probably.
Have you tried reducing the DPI in developer options?
This also has the effect of reducing nav bar size.
