How to know if Xiaomi Mi8 Anti Rollback activated or not? - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

I just installed "miui_MI8_8.9.6_2e668ca434_9.0.zip" recovery ROM by Updater android P close beta on my Mi8 code name dipper and its full of bugs.
I know this version is ARB implemented and now I want to know about my device ARB status.
So google it and watched a lot of video on youtube and all the result is if status showing Anti: 3 means not ARB activated and if status is Anti: 4 means ARB activated on device.
But mine is showing Anti: 1
Whats that means?
Anti :1 means Anti Rollback is activated?

means Anti Rollback is activated

The Miui Based on Pie is with anti-rollback. So you have to stick with this for now.

hi!
i tried to check antirollback status on my mi 8. boot to fastboot, "fastboot getvar anti". and i get this:
getvar:anti FAILED (remote: GetVar Variable Not found)
any idea what it means?

Just check out this very good article, everything explained here: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-anti-rollback-protection-brick-phone/

It means that this variable doesn't exist in bootloader
(You can check by typing "fastboot getvar all" you won't see any anti string )
So it means arb isn't present

i hope you dond mind i bug you again but im still trying to figure out the whole picture. i try to learn as much as possible to avoid bricking/problems in the future. i still cant understand how is this possible? as far as i understand first official xiaomi rom sets anti to 1 on fastboot flash. so i suppose the variable should exist in original bootloader. my device is chinese unlocked and flashed to global by reseller. any clue what happens if i flash ofiicial fastboot rom?
generally i like the idea of having a bootloader which has no idea about anti rollback. but i dont like the idea that reseller did wierd stuff to my phone. sure, i flashed aftermarket rom. but i have the gps lockup bug which i cant get rid of. i suspect it might have something to do with unlock method. also, global rom version i got on the device was never officially released by xiaomi as far as i could google.
thanks, and have fun

Isn't there a way to go around this sh**. This is really annoying

If i am not wrong, someone around here mentioned that getvar = 1 means that it is NOT activated YET, and he managed to downgrade.

1,2 and 3 means, that you have not activated anti roll back, it's safe to roll back, 4,5 is activated. Here is original post http://in.miui.com/thread-287-1-1.html
On Global Stable 10.0.2.0 Android 8 and in Global developer Rom 8.10.25 Android 9 ARB the same = 1. It means, you can roll back to any versions but only with MiFlash and fastboot ROM

i have same problem. i bought second hand mi's phone. previous owner use miui eu rom and i don't know. i update to miui global rom step by step in website xiaomi and it can't boot then i load firmware fastboot to install by xiaomi flash tool. i press flash rom (program choose clean all and lock by default) then my phone stuck in bootloop.
I ran into the same problem before. Before doing anything else, you have to unlock bootloader again. This shouldn't waste you any time as you have unlocked before

man, did u get any answer after this ?
I'm exactly in your same ****.
thx
Hey man I did the same thing and what I did was restarted my phone on fastboot mode and used the xiaomi tool again to unlock it again and it worked, since you already have waited de 300 + hours for the authorization, you can do it as many times as you want. Once the phone reboot it will start as normal andnit will ask you to enter the account you user to unlock it and that's it.
bricked mi8 please help
hei, here is my situation ... i ve bought a mi8 china version (i didn't know) and i-ve briked my phone flasing a global rom . The boot loader is locked and my phone goes stright into recovery mode. What should I do to resurect my phone? Is there any chance to help me with an unlock? can someone log to my computer via teamviewer just to hit unlock with a authorised account? please msg me on watsap +40766267128. Thankyou verry much and I apreciate!
This won't help much but hopefully it will help someone: DO NOT LOCK bootloader if phone is china version and you installed global rom.
I purchased my Xiaomi Mi 8 from Dubai (Awok.com with 1 week warranty) in Sept 2018 and used it only for few weeks. one night when the phone was charging, the next day morning I found the phone was in the reboot status with the "MI" logo in black background and not doing anything further, I tried to turn off and on and still the same status. Now not even the "MI" logo and when I charge I don't see any screen status, I believe the phone is dead or bricked.
For your information, my phone is a Chinese version and not a Global version!
Any help is highly appreciated as I don't have budget to buy another phone

This tool has been deprecated.
A new bootloader unlock tool, HCTSW Care UU4 will be implemented in 2023.
As mentioned in following topic before:
Nokia 5 and 6
Nokia 8.1
Nokia 2.1 and V
The NB1-Collision is a new method to unlock the bootloader freely.
In case you don't want to read the guide, here's how NB1-Collision works.
It will use existing leaks of supported devices listed below to fake your device as a Nokia 8, then the unlock key for Nokia 8 will pass new bootloader verification, then you're allowed to unlock the bootloader.
After unlocked, the tool will restore the identification of your device back, but the unlock state will be kept.
To use this method, you must request unlock key for Nokia 8 (NB1) officially, and you must know it's IMEI.
If you don't have a Nokia 8, please ask other members here for help. I will not provide mine.
DO NOT TRY TO USE OR SHARE CHINESE VERSION YOU FOUND FROM ELSEWHERE THAT MADE BY ME.
I NEVER WANT IT BEING USED BY NON-CHINESE USERS.
Technical detailIt will work with following models:
Nokia 2 (Build not newer than E1M-0580)
Nokia 2.1 and 2.1V (All Android 8.1 build)
Nokia 5 (All Android Nougat build)
Nokia 6 (All Android Nougat build, and all of my homebrew Android 8 firmware that you didn't receive any update yet)
That bundled following content:
Service aboot image from E1M-064D
Retail aboot image from E1M-0650
Service aboot image from EVW-0440
Service aboot image from D1C-331A
Retail aboot image from ND1-558K
ADB and Fastboot from Platform Tools 28 (I know V29 or probably newer released)
md5 calculator for generating the md5 checksum of serial number
TWRP for E1M/E2M/D1C with special signature attached, that will allow TWRP boot even under locked bootloader.
This also explains why Nokia 6 were rootable with locked bootloader back in 2017.
How to use1. Install required USB Driver, which you should be familiar with.
2. Downgrade your bootloader back to suitable build. You can use either old OTA package method, EDL method or find customer care for help.
3. Download the file in attachment, extract everything and place the unlock.key file requested for Nokia 8 officially to the place where the "NB1-Collision_unlocker.cmd" located.
To help me count the download times, I attached a link in a plain text file.
4. Open the "NB1-Collision_unlocker.cmd" directly. You can review the batch source if you concern.
5. Press any key, then input the IMEI of that Nokia 8, power off your phone and connect it to PC.
If you want to save your own unlocker, you can write your own IMEI into one plain text file at 15 bytes, respective filenames is "fimei" (without extension name). In that case, it will read your existing IMEI and SN every time you use it.
6. If you're sure about everything, press any key to continue, and wait for the procedure complete.
For all models: If the phone stays at the TWRP interface when an unlock attempt is done, please reboot it to bootloader mode manually.
For Nokia 2.1 / V: It will tell you boot your phone to TWRP manually, just do it as it mentioned. To ensure every unlock attempt will success as expect, you must format userdata manually under TWRP then reboot to bootloader.
For Nokia 2.1 V Only: Flashing the unlock key will tell you "No project found", it will not affect the result at all.
If anyone can port this for macOS/Linux, it would be great.
FAQQ1: Can I update to Android Pie after unlocked?
A1: Yes of course, you can still update your phone.
Q2: Will the bootloader relock itself?
A2: Never. The only method to lock the bootloader is, execute the "fastboot oem lock" command under Fastboot.
HMD Nokia Phones are far more better than HLIAVVEI phones.
Q3: Can anyone post the unlock key and IMEI here?
A3: Post IMEI publicly is strictly forbidden in XDA, don't attempt to violate the rules here.
Q4: Can you do it for me remotely for free or paid?
A4: No, sorry
Q5: Will it support Nokia 3.1 Plus and 5.1 Plus soon?
A5: It depends on when HMD will release official unlock for MediaTek models.
Q6: Why don't you make it available for Nokia 8.1?
A6: Not too many leaks can be used on the bootloader for Nokia 8.1 / X7 / 9 PureView.

Sorry, but the operation only worked on one device (single sim). With the other (same model of smartphone but dual sim), once the procedure is completed, the error "Your Device Has Failed Verification And May Not Work Properly" appears. The phone gets stuck on that screen! If I repeat the procedure by checking the item "Disable FBLOCK" it works but the bootloader remains unlocked. I also tried flashing the bootloader for Kirin659 (A) and Kirin659 (B) but nothing.
How can I solve?
Good news, I solved it by downloading and installing a rom in eRecovery mode!!!! Now the bootloader is also locked in the other smartphone!
Doing this process can I change the ROM FIG-LX3 to FIG-LX1?

Question Mi 11 with Vodafone RKBEUVF rom - how to swap to GLOBAL or EU? + some questions

Hi,
TL;DR - How to swap from Vodafone operators RKBEUVF Rom to Global or EU so I could keep using G-Pay. Preferably without unlocking bootloader
----------
Full version
I received a Mi 11 as graduation gift and found out that I have some kind of vodafone operators rom. I can't find any information about future support for this rom (It is still sitting on Mi UI 12.5.5 with Android 11). I've searched a lot of online topics about switching ROM and nothing works for me.
I was using XiaomiMiTool2
First - what I tried:
- https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-global-without-unlocking-bootloader.4356497/
and plenty of other solutions from google. Nothing works.
I've tested multiple rom version both EU and Global (RKBEUXM/RKBMIXM) . I've managed to pass the token error but I still need to wait for unlocking bootlader.
I tried to install official ROM and Local Rom - as you can see on attached screenshots nothing works - in case of Official ROM I need to unlock bootloader and installing local ROM says "could not verify update". With Local rom I tried to use multiple Recovery and Fastboot rom versions (as you can see on screenshot) and nothing worked.

My questions:
- AFAIK unlocking bootloader will make my device "not secured" and I will not be able to use G-Pay? Can someone confirm it? I can unlock bootloader in 14 days the official way but I am afraid that I will loose option to use G-Pay.
- I heard that after unlocking bootloader and flashing rom I can lock bootlader again - but If I flash the wrong ROM I will brick my device. This Vodafone ROM seems to be EU version - will I brick my device if I'll lock the bootlader after flashing EU or Global ROM?
Is there any info about this Vodafone rom support? To be honest If I'll get updates even 6 months later than EU/Global I would not mind but I want to make sure that this rom version will be supported at all in the future
Can I somehow flash rom without unlocking bootloader? As currently I need to wait 14 days to unlock bootloader the official way
it's very simple: you unlock your bootloader, you flash the last EU rom 13.0.4.0SKBEUXM with miFlash and lock option. TADA ! G-Pay working

Thank you kind sir!
Yea, that's my last resort but I just wanted to be sure that I will not brick my device after locking bootlader. I've heard that if you load in a wrong ROM you can brick device.

Thank you kind sir!
Yea, that's my last resort but I just wanted to be sure that I will not brick my device after locking bootlader. I've heard that if you load in a wrong ROM you can brick device.

You can lock it, don't worry. I've done it on my Mi 11 operator ROM to EUXM and lock, nothing bad happened.

I'll be able to unlock bootloader in 5 days and report my results here later.
I was kind of worried because in Mi 11 settings (as you can see blow) it is said that I have global version but the rom indicated that its actually EU rom.
I had the same doubts, Global description is confusing (like most of actions done by Xiaomi in fact it is EU ROM for sure. Unlock it when time comes, flash EUXM fastboot and lock it, should be ok. Like I mentioned, in my case everything went fine. Watch couple of tutorials on YouTube, it can be helpful.

Which tools did you use exactly? I plan to download newst EUXM ROM and use official MiFlash option "clean with lock".
I thought about using XiaomiTool2 but I am not sure if it will automatically lock the bootloader again.
XiaomiTool2 didn't work. I used MiFlash, clean with lock, exactly. Just remember to download fastboot stable ROM .
Hello.
I have problem with my mi 11 bought from Vodafone.I took the phone from ebay from person bought it straight from Vodafone. The phone was with miui 12.5.I saw that and decided to unlock bootloader and flash xiaomi.eu or global.Everythings is okay, but in the moment when i put the simcard(no matter slot 1 or 2) the phone try to register it in the carrier network (not Vodafone) for maybe 15 seconds without success. After this period it restart to miui recovery....
If i put the simcard, make factory reset there are no issues. The phone took the sim and work... To the moment when i remove the sim, and after put it back, same story... I must do factory reset to get success....
Tried 2 versions of xiaomi.eu and the official global stable...
(My bootloader is still unlocked)
Any advice guys, never before i didn't get this type of problem....

That might be something to do with Mi flash. Check the configuration menu of Mi flash tool and remove if anything is there. And also see if the fastboot rom that you downloaded has SET CURRENT ANTI=0(or something similar). This should do. And if you want L1 ,you might consider rooting as that makes sure safety net never fails.
