Switched from Poco F1 to Nokia 7 Plus - Nokia 7 Plus Questions & Answers

Some people will call me Loco for switching from Poco, but I am not.
The phone (if not all then just Indian variants) have a very serious issue with multitouch. They probably used cheap touch digitizers due to which the multitouch doesn't works accurately while playing games like PUBG. Reviewers are not picking this up probably because they are paid or they are Xiaomi's lapdog.
The company (Both Poco and Xiaomi) is not responding to tweets, emails or anything.
Full Bug report: http://en.miui.com/thread-3746297-1-1.html
I recommend staying away from Poco unless the company vows to fix it.

U did a great job by switching my friend... Welcome to Quality World

Oh really? So thanks for opening this thread I thought about buying the Poco but now I rethink this...

I recommend the most obvious then ...well actually if you want more customizablilty and a strong sturdy phone with exceptional performance for day to day tasks then mi a2 is good...if you want no customized and on disgusting emui but with a siginificantly faster 710 go for it
To be honest...
Read some topic about mi A2 issue before you buy it...

Well snap636 should be fast enough for normal day use and medium size games and i am talking about battery issue that when battery get to like 4% it take hrs in charging it and i don't think that everytime 4g net + google or games will work up for 6hrs.
The only thing i want is a durable phone with medicore specs to run smoothly

My luck is quite bad with mobiles, zenfone got bricked even after repair some it got bricked again and then purchased honor play then it had screen burn issue so got refund and today honor play price is decreased by 60$ but i don't know to trust honor anymore and all mobiles seems to be concentrating on specs instead of hardware durability.
This phone has NO issues with battery life. The media and the journalists feed us bull**** all the time, they see a number and make an assumption. My phone lasts easily a full day with normal day of use with a lot of calls, a lot of searching on the net and some video watching in the car with some audio book listening. This phone lasts more than my old Samsung s8, than my newer Samsung s9 and on par with my last year mi a1.
Many people already said battery life is good if not greqt., But are afraid to say it is excellent because the tech YouTubers said it's "meh" for some reason, even though many of their phones that they own last less than this one.
This is one of the best phones under 300 and dare I say it comes close to even the bigger budget phones.
The only thing I can't comment on is gaming as I do not play games on my phone. I listed all my activities above you can make your educated guess. I have two phones left right now that I use that is my older Samsung s8 as one of my all time favorite phones, and this one, and I am thinking of getting rid of the s8 as well. The s8 as originally more expensive phone is fluid in terms of UI, better looking to me, better camera hands down, and more powerfull, but to be fair I could not care less about most of the things except I really enjoy the fluid UI Samsung has build in the past years with the S7 s8 and s9, but I am happy with the stock to so whatever.
Go for this phone dude, you won't be sorry in the next 3 years unless you play heavy games (for those I have no clue, you will have to ask some one else).
The only thing I would suggest if you have the budget is go for the 6GB ram version, that will help you last longer with your phone for sure, it's a future proof more than anything else.

Haha, If you don't like poco for the reasons you've posted forget the a2. Screen is a nightmare (compared to other lcd not oled, before some "akhchually" carebear shows up). Bugs talk for themselves. Build quality ok for the price, but it's disgustingly copying the iphone x, or it's just me.

I mean the only key feature that many people think of approaching the Poco is the chipset it has for it's price....that's it

nightmare and disgusting are words that are usually used for phones of the 5-10 usd from china with shipping. I would not call any disadvantages or shortcomings that you think the phone has (obviously comparing to phones with higher price tag or with better individual parts but with other parts lacking) nightmares or disgusting.
but as you said its just you
ps: iphone copied samsung that copied iphone that copied samsung that copied apple that copied samsung that copied nokia that copied ericson that copied siemens that copied sagem that copied motorola.

MI 8 or Pocophone?

Hi guys!! I was thinking about changing my V20 lg ... changing to Xiaomi. Due to budget issues I would like to know which is the best purchase today. In terms of battery, screen, cameras, community.
Edito: I'm not interested in building materials etc, only that the device yields and is customizable. thank you in advance
You in mi8 section ask. You most likely will get people suggest you mi8
It depends on the price

Other than the price, they have different pros and cons. For example, MI 8 have a slightly better native camera, AMOLED screen that looks awesome (but might live less than an IPS due to oled "burning"), has NFC and dual GPS.
Pocophone have widevine L1 already enabled, that allow you to stream for example Netflix content in FHD (MI 8 may get it in the future but for now only stream in HD), bigger battery on F1, headphone jack, infrared remote control (for TVs, ACs, etc...). Poco F1 also have a better cooling for it's chip, so it will perform better in long game sections. Also worth mentioning, with Pocophone you get a wider community....
If you really aim for that true blacks of AMOLED or need NFC, then MI 8. If not, go for Pocochone F1, it is much cheaper and it is more feature richer in some key areas.
Edit: Screen replacements for Pocophone are much cheaper and Facial Recognition for MI 8 don't work in some regions.

I agree with most everything that @abnogueira mentioned.
Except, that I doubt the Oled will have serious issues. Especially since Dark mode is so prevalent, and with a phone you are not as likely to have static images always on I have have owned several Samsung phones and watches since they came to market and they are still going strong and with zero burn in. I would have expected to see some burn in on my Gear watches but I haven't. Seriously, Amoled is gorgeous and once you have have it, you don't want anything else.
While the Poco is also a very powerful phone, I would be the most concerned about LTE bands. The Poco F1 has very limited range of 4G/4G plus bands you should definitely ensure that it has the bands that you need before even considering it.. Frequency Check is an excellent site for checking the device and its supported bands as required by your carrier.
You can search for your country/carrier and the device that you are considering and it will give you a detailed report
Here is the address: https://www.frequencycheck.com/
Edit:
Regarding Worldvine. Currently the Mi8 has L3 Worldvine, The Poco may have L1 but it is my understanding that Poco owners are not yet able to use its benefits of higher resolution due to approval bottlenecks with Netflix.
I own a Le Pro 3 that has had Worldvine L1 support since late 2016 and my Netflix resolution is exactly the same for my Leeco X727 and my Mi8. No I get nothing higher than HD and this is due to Netflix dragging their feet with updating their device approval list : More about the issue and Netflix's limited range of approved devices here: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/23939
At the end of the day, Disney will have their own online streaming service starting in November and that will surely get Netflix motivated to action.

No doubt, and just so you know I updated my post on Worldvine, if your weren't aware. L1 is coming to the Mi8 the issue is truly with the streaming services at this point.
Concerning the battery. My battery life is excellent. Although the battery is 3400 mah instead of 4000, the software for the Mi8 is quite different from the OS on the Poco. I have a lot of friends who own Poco's and they have switched to the EU beta Miui rom because its better optimised. My battery life is just as good as it is on my LePro 3 which also has a 4000msh battery. I am currently using the Miui Pro rom and according to GSAM battery manager my SOT 8.5 hours. SOT is great on pretty much all of the Miui based roms.

I almost bought the white one. But it wasn't available from Amazon when I was ready to purchase. I ended up buying the blue one and I definitely have no regrets with purchasing the Mi8, I truly do love this phone.
BTW, I have purchases 4 different cases, I posted links for my favorite ones. Should you decide to go with the Mi8 you can rest assured that these cases are also great.
360 aluminium case : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G2Z628X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Lightweight case with finger ring that has lasted for months and is still tight : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H7VB7VC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Take Care, Should you get the phone feel free to message me if you have any questions.
Edit : Forgot to mention that we have something else in common. I am also a Metalhead and grew up with Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden etc. Mustaine has been a big influence and one of the reasons why I started playing guitar.

Do I buy this phone or not?

Hello everyone, hope the weekend is going well.
A Huawei user here (current devices Mate 9 and Mate 10 Pro), I'm at the verge of purchasing ROG II with 12GB/512GB from AliExpress.
I've gone through this forum & seen a lot of comments. TBH, I want a powerful gaming phone and out of all the options (redmagic 3s, blackshark 2 pro, IQOO pro, Nubia Z20, OnePlus7T etc), the air triggers are the pulling factor for me using a phone to game without always having to use accessories (maybe in a meeting or somewhere I have to look serious:laugh
I noticed some complaints on dust getting into the wide angle camera. Now that's a serious issue for me being in a Sub-Saharan environment and planning to use the phone for the next 3 years or so. Is it batch-specific or general as buying from AliExpress I doubt if there's warranty.
Also, display quality (regardless of 90Hz/120Hz) is very important to me. I love puchy amazing oled displays like the the top-tier Samsung S10+, iPhones and OnePlus7T
I believe none is in the best position to advise than you guys here already with the device.
What do you think?
ROG II?
Or any other one....
Thanks

Well, I have been decorating in my house for the past month, dust everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE! (see screenshots), and I haven't got dust in the camera with my phone on me all the time... So it could've just been a rare case or cases, I can't remember if it was only one user...
Also, the latest update allows you to customise the air triggers for gradual slide eg. when drifting cars or running /walking in a game. Pretty nifty... Again, see screenshots.
The only thing I think you might be downgrading on is the cam quality. I can't say from experience as I never had those phones to compare with...
Hope that helps...

i live in a dusty city too i didn't have any issue of dust going into camera
As a fan of Huawei I get where you are coming from. My last two devices were Huawei.
Dust: I say just cover the vent like I did and never worry about it again. The increase in temps is very slight while gaming. You can always use the active cooler to prevent thermal throttling in long game sessions.
Display: Zero Complaints from me. Its great.
The downsides are no VoLTE which isn't a deal breaker for me. No WIFI calling which I don't understand why this isn't a thing. Its a bit heavier than I'm use to. Something I never noticed before is the way I handle my phone. I rest the whole phone on my pinky finger and it leans against my other fingers. This allows me to reach most of the screen with my thumb (I have long fingers) for easy one handed operation. Well the added weight of the phone I can feel in my pinky finger so I can't hold it like this indefinitely any longer. My pinky starts hurting now. The finger print sensor is trash. I use face unlock.
Despite that, I'm really enjoying my device. Its a great phone.
TLDR:
Cover vent to prevent dust if you are concerned
Display rocks
no VoLTE calling in USA
no WIFI calling in USA
Heavy depending on how you hold the phone.
Finger Print Sensor is trash. May get better with updates.
This is an awesome device and I'm enjoying it.
I personally love this phone so much (loved...) but right now, because i have problems with accuracy of my COMPASS and slow catching GPS signal, sent it back and waiting for results. On other side, all aspect like loudness, 120hz display and performance - this phone is absolute beast. I love it so much, even though is quite heavy. Wanna have it already back home fixed or got replacement

Thanks. Hopefully, you'll get it fixed or replaced soon

so... what next?

So alot of people (especially in the UK) will be coming to the end of contract and life cycle on the p20. The question is....what next.
Do we go p40 without Google services or look at something different?
Iv loved the p20, it's been reliable and solid, but I'm a Google loyalist. I use the services and apps and the idea of losing apps iv paid for already on Google play just seems a step to far.
Iv found updates painfully slow to arrive through O2, months and months behind. So definitely an unlocked from carrier handset next.
But what one?
Samsung
One Plus
Or something completely different?
I love my phone, but unfortunately i came to get too annoyed with the software.
I will be switching to either Xiaomi, oneplus (doubt about oneplus but i'll see).
Until Huawei releases harmony os, i will not buy their stuff anymore. Great hardware, **** software.

Yes. This mi 10 pro seems like a decent upgrade.
If you want updates to your phone, you have 2 choices. Iphone or pixel.
OnePlus is super easy to unlock the bootloader and will not void the warranty. Then just use lineageOS.
I had enough of of the Huawei software. I was expecting Android 10 by now, but nothings been said about that release for a while now.
Add locked bootloaders and no development, made a rather boring phone. It was the only Android phone I've ever had which didn't even get a working TWRP after 2 years!
I went for the Pixel 4XL yesterday, and I'm very happy with it. Bootloader unlocked, rooted and GPay working fine

Exactly. Sadly that it is kinda expensive and doesn't bring water resistance, but still it's pretty great!

According to current information it's 4999 yuan which is more expensive than previous releases but it's still cheaper than OnePlus 7T Pro, not to mention Samsung or Pixel and iPhone. I am afraid it'll be more pricey in Europe though. Lack of IP rating is bad but I think I can live without it if the price is competitive.

If it is at least splash proof, then i am happy either way. Better that than nothing. Besides, MIUI is really good in terms of looks and customization. I don't know about the system apps and country-features restrictions. Let's see how the phone will perform.
Personally, the non-pro version is better than the pro, but let's wait first.
Oneplus is good too but still skeptical about them, after they got called out many times due to their software backdoors and insecurity.

It's supposed to be splash proof. Regular mi 10 has bigger battery but pro version has better camera.
If you care about software on any level - don't go with Xiaomi. They are even worse than Huawei with updates and their camera software is probably the worst on the market.
I think the "what's next" really depends on the personal preference and needs.
I personally would never go with anything without Google services. Software wise - Pixels lead, OnePlus are probably the second choice right now. Camera wise it's probably Pixel/Samsung. If you want to keep the price low, Xiaomi is probably the way to go but you will sacrifice things. I would say OnePlus is the most balanced, but if I wouldn't care for the price I would go with Pixel.
I've never owned Xiaomi and frankly speaking I am bit curious, especially that this year they claim they won't compete with other flagships with price factor only. I guess I'll order it online, use it and return it within 14 days if I don't like it. Samsung is not an option to me as I want a handset with SD 865 and my region is "blessed" with their Exynos. Pixel is overpriced on the other hand and designwise...just horrible. I'd rather go for OP if their quality check is improved this year.

I mean, since many xda nerds advertise xiaomi (second place, top being oneplus) as the best company that supports custom roms, i suppose a custom rom with gcam can fix all the issues Xiaomi phones have. I guess?

True if you are willing to do all that. Last time I checked xiaomi.eu stopped supporting GCam ports on their official forum because they worked pretty terrible. I guess you can find some ROM like LineageOS that works with GCam, I didn't really look into it since I don't own a Xiaomi phone anymore.
If you just want to buy something that works out of the box they are not the best choice.

I'm sure you're right about previous releases. Thank you for your feedback. It's good to hear some critical voice before the final decision is made. However there are already camera comparisons between mi 10 pro and s20 ultra and these pics/videos looks pretty good. Mi 10 pro camera is supposed to be revolutionary and able to compete with other flagships. Well we'll see.
Oneplus 8 pro. Nothing comes close unless you want to spend £1200 on a pixel 5. If money isn't a problem then the latter would be comparable and the only phone that is.
Why do you need to upgrade? I'm holding off here in the UK until 5G becomes a reality and decent phones are available. New phones for 2020 so far (and into the Q2) don't really offer anything above what I currently have hardware wise. The phone works fine for me, battery lasts > 1 day even after 2 years.

I am with EE, by far the best in London, Liverpool and Manchester for all the places I visit, getting expensive now but that fits perfectly for me...
What gives you the idea that EE will have the OnePlus , as in the new one?
That is the one I want.
For me oneplus would have to show incredible improvement in keeping their promises regarding coming improvements and their cameras. I can't trust reviews 9n them anymore and would want to see it first hand. Shame as otherwise their hardware is blinding fast and updates/rootproof warranty are great

Honestly for me so long as ois is on the camera and it's got "some" development, the screen is 90hz or over..I'm in.
The rest is a bonus.
Oh and I miss that DND hardware switch
Apparently waterproofing, wireless charging is all on its way.
My only problem will be the price if they're all added, personally I couldn't care less about wireless charging, not when it idles so well and charges as fast as it does..maybe if I started using it I'd become a fan but I can't see it at the moment.
Time will tell.
Plus if they don't have the 8 pro on my carrier I ain't getting it lol.

Question Is the 10 Pro worth getting?

Greetings,
I've been browsing the sub for a bit and watched a few reviews about the phone because I have a pretty great deal for one and might consider buying it. I tried it out for a few minutes in a store the other day and it feels and looks great.
There seems to be a lot of negative talk, mostly against the fact that 1+ is now just a flagship, which I don't care too much about. Nor do I for the camera or selfie-notch or whatever.
Are the software issues and such really that annoying to deal with? Are there other phones you'd recommend instead? Am I better off just hoping the 11 is a greater phone and keeping my 7Pro for now?
Pre-thanks for the answers!
It is a great phone however if your fussy, like to modify and customize ect (live for the root) then you will find it frustrating
I find it's great, once i overcame the things i hated and removed, or rewrote some bits to get the outcome i wanted. Ease of use is great, camera is 9/10 IMO. It is a good phone regardless

good phone but don't buy ne2215 single sim i was f****d
Just a tough question.
If you want a great phone with superb performance and amazing hardware, plus an battery that just doesn't quit then yes.
But if you're expecting a flashers paradise which is what most OnePlus buyers want then I'm afraid the answer is a solid no, at least for now.
Any phone I've ever had before if it's going to prove to be a developers haven, we would already have ROMs popping up all over the place, alas with the 10 pro it's just not the case, then again neither is it with the pixel 6 or pro.
I hope it's not a sign of things to come, but for now it's a far cry from everybody's previous device.
Even the threads on XDA are convoluted and confusing, especially on the app.
I'd say look elsewhere but at least on paper, the two aforementioned devices are the best that is currently on offer.
Difficult time to buy unless you don't mind last gens phone. In which case I'd say go 8 pro or the 9 if flashing ROMs is your thing.
I hope it turns around but time is ticking away and the longer it goes on the slimmer the chances.
Pixel 6 Pro NOT worth buying !
After many bugs, new offer from google : "no network" (not from SIM , not from wifi). In the USA.

I ditched the Pixel 6 Pro awhile ago. Just too buggy with the first generation Tensor SoC....

listen mate go for xiaomi mi 11 ultra i regret that i sold it perfect phone
Would the nothing phone be worth considering?
Aesthetically it's a stunner IMO...
dladzI, too, like Nothing phone. For the design in the first place. The price is tempting.
I Hate rounded phones (dildo like), rounded corners, curved screen (useless expensive creap).
khapunkapif money is no issue get Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

XDA has been terrible over the years. The search feature is so flawed now it almost seems like a waste of time to tell people to search for anything. The app is garbage now and basically was a slap in the face to users who had to pay for the premium app back in the day to get good usability.

Loool at dildo phone. That made me chuckle.. what's the price on the nothing phone? Has that been provided yet?? Also one problem I may have with it is the SOC that's been chosen.
Design wise tho, looks amazing.
Plus Carl Pei on board can only be a good thing

Lol I forgot about that, but I did buy the premium app, then it just disappeared. The categories looks like someone made a change for the sake of making a change, it's less intuitive.
Oh wow, now that's some original OnePlus pricing..
Amazing
Nothing phone price for the smaller ram/storage around 460 euro
Oled, 120hz, 6,55 inch
Qualcomm SM7325-AE Snapdragon 778G+ 5G (6 nm) chipset (mid ranger)
Can you get it ? "Leakers" say is by invite only..., like OnePlus One was...

I have an invite so I could, just don't have the extra cash ATM, plus knowing my luck I'd get it then a tonne of custom ROMs would come out for the 10 pro.
Black or white ?.. i am so racist!..

Not that they're selling it in the US to begin with but I couldn't do a 778G+ chip. Gotta have a flagship. There is a massive gap between 778G+ and 8 gen 1.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 vs Snapdragon 778G Plus: tests and benchmarks
We put Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 against 778G Plus to find out which SoC is better. See performance comparison in benchmarks and games.
nanoreview.net
I had to go to a custom ROM thanks to OnePlus throttling the SoC on my 9 because the browsing performance was garbage without the X1 core and the 778G+ Geekbench single core score is similar to the throttled 9 performance. Thanks but no thanks.
Yes, the Nothing phone 778G+ chip is a big step backwards!
If money is a problem, Nothing phone is good. Nothing is around 470 euro, 10 Pro - 919 euro (8/128)
And SD 778 is the best performance processor for midrangers phones.
I like Very Much the design of OnePlus 10R (global Ace)
