How to remove Google apps - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Do you have any idea how can I remove all Google apps/services? Maybe, do you have any custom rom without Google services? I have unlocked TWRP.

You could root the phone and use some app (search bloatware remover on play store) and then just delete the Google apps.

I would like to add that it's impossible to uninstall google services with app like System app remover or stuff like that. I used "Amaze" file manager, it was the one way I can do that, other apps turned off when I wanted uninstall Google Chrome or Google play store, services.

[Q] Is there a way to stop facebook from automatically running in my background

I would like to stop facebook and facebook messanger from running in my background. I know about greenify but it wont let me put those two apps into hibernation because they are system apps, i am using a rooted galaxy s6 from at&t. Is there a way to turn them into a user app and if there is will that do any harm to my device?
Don't know if this will work or not - try freezing the included version with tibu, then installing from play store. Then greenify.

lol Very clever but it it only gives me a enable option when i go to the play store to try and install it again
Just use Greenify if you're rooted you can hibernate it. Or use tibu to uninstall it and install it from the play store.

Wasnt able to greenify it before even when i was rooted but your other suggestion worked perfectly, Thank a bunch !!
In order to Greenify Facebook, you will have to donate $3 since on our phones, it's considered a system app.

Direct link to Play Store from apps - Result is pop-up error

Getting an error when I whenever I try to install a live wallpaper from Zedge.
Getting a pop up that the app is trying to open a link to a market that is not available on my device. Do I want to open the Amazon Appstore instead.
See attached screenshot.
This is only when I click install under live wallpapers. The regular wallpapers download and install fine.
I checked the app on my phone and the live wall papers will open the appropriate page in the Google Play Store. Basically just a link.
I am rooted on 5.1.1 and the google apps are installed. I downloaded the Zedge app from the Play Store for god's sake!!!
Any ideas on how to correct on the fire?
Try disabling amazon appstore:
adb shell
su
pm disable com.amazon.venezia
Some apps see it as uninstalled and will prompt to delete data. Also, if you ever use Amazon launcher, it freaks if it can't find it. Just enable it again.

Thanls. That worked but now I can't get to the Amazon app store. Is it one or the other?

Yeah have to enable it again. (good reason for not deleting it)
There are some that aren't on the Play Store?

As pond-life says, it's either enabled or disabled. You can save the commands in a scripter app or something like Rom Toolbox and run them straight from the Fire.
I use a custom launcher most of the time, but have a shortcut on the home screen that switches me to a fully working Amazon UI with one tap. Another shortcut blocks Amazon again when I go back to my launcher. Let me know if you want more info.

Youtube rippers. Some apps like that that Google won't allow in the play store.

Chinese Mate S

Hello. I've just been given a Mate S from work but it's the Chinese version so no Google apps. What are my options? As it's from Huawei through work I'll call rooting plan b. There's no way to flash an International factory image without rooting right?
If you go to the Huawei App Store you can install Google Play Store from there.
I did this when i converted my phone to chinese version. Only problem I had was contacts wouldnt sync, but if you download GoogleContactSynch.apk (you'll have to google search for that) then contacts syncs work fine.
Yeah i did that and then tried to install the Google Launcher and disable as much bloat as i could. Google Launcher wouldn't work for some reason. Will give it another go tomorrow.

You need to change the standard launcher under Settings - Apps - Standard apps
You can download Google Contact Sync and Google Calendar Sync from Huawei App Store. Search for Google and click the banner on top to see all the Google apps
Already tried when i was playing about with it a few days ago. Google Launcher wasn't listed even though it's installed.
I've just switched it on again now and it detects it. :good:

Google Play updating manually installed apps

Hello, I manually installed an app apk from the developers website. The app is also on the play store, but was curious how this works.
How did google play know I stalled the app? How was the app updated without downloading it through the plays for? Is Google Play constantly scanning my phone?
Thanks!

If you didn't turn off auto update in Play settings then Google Play will update apps on its own.

Correct. I turned it off afterwards. But how did Google Play know I even had the app? I installed it manually via APK transfer from PC.

I do. I don't install many apps from other places except Apkmirror and Google is probably spying on me already. LOL spying on my phone would be one of the most boring jobs ever.

Question Vivo app store

Hi !
I will receive soon a x90 pro plus.
I read all posts about debloating phone, I think it is a normal thing to do if you don't use apps.
But I wonder if using vivo app store is so bad. Somebody here uses this phone without Google play, only with vivo app store ?
Thanks
So, I understand now no English !

You can remove if you want, but the vivo store itself is pretty bad, and no english at all (or I don't know how to change it to english). However, if you remove it, you will likely lose the ability to install 3rd party apps (i.e, any apps outside of google play store or vivo store). Just think twice before disabling it. Of course, you can resintall that vivo store back using adb, so not a big deal here.

I did not touch it. So, no problem.
We find apps in english but I won't go further with that, no possibilities to make it usable like playstore with payment method ... etc.
Thanks !

It's just a mystery like the way X90PP with Snap 8 Gen2 still sucks tons of battery. They designed the vivo store app as a dogwatcher then they can observe what we install/uninstall on our phones. I just know that if you remove it, you cannot install any 3rd party apps anymore. Tested by myself and had to reinstall it back.

Which means the package installer is part of the Vivo Store app.
Try installing the Android Package Installer app and see if you can install apps without the Vivo Store app. Once package installer is installed, apps can be installed using any file manager that supports it or an apk installer like SAI.

Thanks, I'll check, but I guess it will end up being the same as some apps like sms and phone app. That means you need the original app to make it work.

Thinking about it, the package installer must be a system app. You won’t be able to install an app as a system app without root. Give it a try. May be it is just a question of enabling the default package installer which Vivo probably disabled in favour of their own Store app.
