Notification bar gets greyed out randomly - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I've noticed that my notification bar occasionally just greys out and only changing the theme temporarily fixes it. I looked around and saw this was also present on some other Xiaomi phones, but has anyone figured out how to stop this?

Never seen on any Xiaomi-device (only owned 3 though). Which rom do you use?

i heard that caused by application that have night mode feature, so disable that night mode in that app. In Indonesia it caused by night mode from detik.com application.
hope it help.

I saw that too but even with it disabled it happened. It seems whenever you use YouTube or some full screen video it happens. I flashed MIUI10 dev beta and I haven't seen it anymore.

Could be the launcher you are using?

For anyone having this issue on miui 9 , just disable dark mode on messages(Google one) app . If not , disable on any you might have dark mode enabled.

Question about Google Play Services wakelock

So I've been having severe active drain lately (deep sleep is fine). I installed BBS to help me determine the drain. Everything seems fine on the partial and kernel wakelock, but when I checked on the sensor, one thing stands out: Google Play Services sensor kept on running even when the screen is active. Is this normal?

No. If this stock global official MIUI 10.3 rom, your best bet would be to reset.

Reg: Screenshot App

Hi,
I'm coming from Honor 8 that I've been using for almost 3 years and I just recently bought K20 pro in India.
I do tend to take screen-shots often as a way of storing reminders or texting articles very frequently.
EMUI has a very handy approach to taking screenshots for a specific region or cropping them in a single gestures whereas MIUI approach is cumbersome. I found that there is an an app called Screenshot assistant that replaces Google assistant (I don't use GA at all).
So I was wondering if I could switch it up. Is there a way to do the same?
See this. I take mine by holding the home button

AMOLED display fail after MIUI 12 update [MI 9 Lite / MI CC9 ]

Hi guys,
Yesterday I installed MIUI 12.0.3 Global (QFCEUXM) on my MI 9 Lite after a manual search in settings with OTA.
The update went well, the display was fine but after half an hour it turns into a purple-green colorless screen.:crying:
The phone was not dropped or damaged at all, ever.
The striping and the colors slowly changing over time.
When screen light is on minimum, the display is purple, when high, it is more green.
I tried to turn on/off DC dimming, dark mode, read mode, color scheme, nothing helped.
Screenshots on PC are good, as it should be.
I did factory reset. No solution.
The phone is not modified, no TWRP or something like that.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot.

its most like a hardware failure conincidentally happend during the update , try reflashing it back to MIUI 11 and if does not help , hope your warranty covers it.

General Screen flickering on Redmi Note 10 pro

Hello,
Most of us have discovered an irritating screen flickering issue on Redmi Note 10 pro. Flickering is visible in low light conditions and mostly in grey screen.
Here's the solution:
1) Get some activity launcher
2) Choose settings app (com.xiaomi.misettings)
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3) Now select Antiflickeractivity
4) You can select Anti Flicker here
Thank you!
any workaround on custom roms? it started for me last week
I haven't had a problem with it, but all the roms I remember have had some setting like that. If you search settings for "flicker" or "dimming" you should hopefully find it. It might be under Display/LiveDisplay.

I already did search for that and it's not there. I'm on crDroid 7.19

I'm not too familiar with crdroid, but I think that's an old version, android 11? A newer version might help.

Question System UI crash and stuck screen cutout overlays

Upgraded to Android 12 and noticed some ugly bugs with system ui.
Occasionally, during camera ring animation or landscape mode (youtube for example), the overlays for cutouts and camera ring/hole remain active.
They are not visible in the screenshots so it must be an overlay. The only way to get rid of this is if the System UI crashes and restarts or I restart the phone.
It can be days or hours between this behaviour.
Is there a way to crash/force restart system ui without rebooting the phone? What could surely trigger the crash?
This problem has been documented on zentalk - https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/57673/system-ui-stopped-working/p1
thanks!

This problem started occuring in ANdroid 12 betas. THe Zentalk beta forum has 3 or 4 threads about this bug. Actually Asus seems not wanting to fix it.
Have you disabled System UI from accessibility settings? It should fix the issue.

Was never enabled.
Fixed it for me after being a beta tester and still experiencing it until a week or so ago. A factory reset was the solution, it's a bit of a bruteforce way to do it, but hey, if it works it works right?
