Xiaomi mi3 display

I got a xiaomi mi3 td a few weeks ago. Untill now its really awesome and in my opinion the worlds best phone ecspecially for this the price. But Im experiencing a really annoying issue. The battery drains much faster than it should (sometimes 800mW). It last only around 10 hours (at normal usage) other mi3's last around 2 days with same usage.
The screen is draining up to 70% of the battery even if its on low brightness!
After some time "googling" this issue, i found a thread where someone was experiencing the same issue with an s4, but nobody could help him...
i believe in you guys :laugh:

i update to v23 also INDIA but battery drains prob is there. maybe we should wait for latest update

I believe the Android 4.4.4 update(s) fix battery issues for those facing them.

Try Developer rom 4.4.4
I suggest you to try the latest 4.8.8 developer version.

Developer one under China.

For Indian version u can flash global 4.8.8 Google it.
Others won't work

You What is your screen on time? The battery can be drained within the hours you mentioned if you are using 3g and using phone heavily, I have got about 6.5hours screen on time on average with 3g
On another note Op has the TD version, which is the Chinese version, so be careful when selecting the Roms for flashing

Which ROM are you running on your mi3?

Best ROM that saves battery

As you all know with the Nougat update the battery life has become terrible for most of the users. So I'm making this thread so that we could list ROMs that still give that original battery life before the Nougat update. Both Marshmallow and Nougat ROMs are welcome. GO!

Stock oos (beta also) and Franco kernel

My battery life with oos non beta was better with flash kernel instead of franco kernel, device also felt faster.
Im currently on LOS (Tugapower) and battery life is decent as well.
But from what i heard so far it seems that CM13 was best for battery, but i have no personal experience with that on OPO3T

I have no problem with battery life. 3 days without charging, 6 hours sot and still juice left... Wouldn't call that terrible

Agreed.
I finally found a rom+kernel combo that works the best for me. FreedomOS-CE-2.8 + blu spark 3.18.31-blu_spark-OOS (r112)

CM13 user for almost 5 months. Have hit 14 hours SOT before on a single charge. Have never gotten less than 10 hours SOT and average almost 12.

My batterylife is great, 5-6 hours SOT and 24 hrs. off the charger. BTW the best roms for stellar battery life are the ones that have no user installed apps, disable auto-sync, screen brightness set on 10% and only use wifi connections But then why would you buy a smartphone?

Do you have gapps installed and are you on 3g/4G or just WIFI ?

who's going call this terrible battery life in nugget?
that's beta6+franko23 with 4g all the time

I get nothing similar to these results. I've got freedom OS latest beta 6 and bluspark 125 and I can barely get 5 hours of SOT even with brightness really low and only on WiFi

Stock OOS 4.1.3 with franco kernel.
2 hours SOT
22 hours up time
61% remaining
4g only, no Wifi

I got the same problem , one plus 3t tried all ROMs all kernels , I bought franko kernel app from market and ex kernel , so I got the pro version, I can't get more then 3 hours I don't know if is my device or my battery, I tried a tutorial to disable all Google sync's and Google now and more services , I don't know what to try , I think the battery is not equal made from this Chinese company,
My nexus 6 is non rooted latest firmware 7.1.1 latest security patch I got 3.20 hours screen on time, so I am wondering where is that power efficiency of Snapdragon 821 processor?
Next time I will not buy anymore that (flagship ) device
Also super big screen burn
For £120 I can get Moto g plus dual SIM with Snapdragon 625 super power efficiency I can get 6 hours screen on time , also dual SIM .

I'm on 3 in the UK also and can easily get 5-6hours SOT. Sounds like therea something wrong with your phone.

Perhaps LineAge from sultanxda is a good choice. I heard, that it has great battery life. Still testing, seems good.

It seems that battery life is inconsistent. Maybe they were shipping with different battery units, different brand, factory or something? For ma total max is 5h SoT in 20-24h.

Question Mediocre Battery life / Screen on Time with Miui 12.0.17

Hi,
I got my MI 11 last Friday (6 days now) / and am getting about 6,5-7 SOT with 60Hz, Dark Mode, FHD+ and 0 gaming.
I primarily use it for Spotify, Twitter, Chrome Browser, Reddit, Facebook etc. so nothing too demanding. Nothing is significantly high in the battery stats too.
This is way worse than on my Mate 20 Pro which I had before.
Is the experience with 12.5 better? What are your opinions/experiences? I am honestly thinking about selling it and getting back to the Mate 20 Pro :/

Yes, about 5:30 screen time...

xiaomi.eu is always with worse battery life than stock. That's because a lot of MIUI strict battery control policies are disabled by default because users find it hard to configure them properly per-app.

With xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11_21.2.3_v12-11 my Mi 11 battery life is better compared with CN official version.

Today mine got half day which is disappointing , with not much use ... MIUI 12.0.22. Chinese

I don't know if you all noticed but i started with oos 13 a couple weeks ago without root i had it on QHD 120hz it was pretty good to use battery latest very long lasting and always 8 hours sot so that was pretty good to have until i started to root it again wanted to check out somethings but then the horror started couldn't reach no more the 8 hours sot it was reduced to 4 hours even heavy drains sometimes drops in Hz to 1 found out that it is found in there kernel source too they are trying to prevent root or this device needs a hell of a kernel dev who can fix all this or enjoy the device how you like and how you want too use it. And to be honest my opinion don't root it you will have more fun with your device since this is dead in development

Your screen time is not the same, so the comparison is not valid.

I'm rooted and have not noticed a drain on the battery... I have heavily debloated though.
My apps list in battery doesn't show anything anymore but this is one charge.
I didn't just leave it with the screen on either lol. But have been reading a lot on chrome.

That's oos 12 and seems that you don't even use the device this is not your daily driver

Are you sure the one of 8 hours was the first time I had oos 13 installed even wiped it set it up with something's a few apps what ik using but after I wanted it too root found out that they want too prevent it so my CPU where locked and this only happens in oos 13 but in oos 12 I didn't had that much problems with root but still it's a heavy drainer device

Well you switched back so you know what I'm talking about but what did you debloated and what did you use to downgrade ?
But for now my battery is like this I have franco kernel manager running without root and setup with adb commands I have a drain right now of 0.90 but it doesn't seems to add up to my first 8 hours sot

It's subjective based on user, location, network, apps etc..
I've already advised in other threads what I've done in detail.
Rolling back AFAIK there is only one way and that's the rollback package found in the beta thread.
Debloat from the debloat thread.
I average 10 hours at least and I use my phone all day long 7am to midnight most days.

Same. I regularly only have to fully charge this device once a day. It'll last me easily from morning to night on a full charge with moderate use throughout the day. With added streaming / gaming on a lunch break, if I don't sometimes I can even get away with two work days (around 1.5 days) on a single charge.
The battery is definitely good, just need to use your system wisely, like with most tech. The fact that it charges to full in about 25 minutes is just gravy.

Yea mines about 2 days ish.. if I'm on citra or an emulator then sure it'll be a lot less but gaming on lunch will still see me through the day.
Charging is insane on this phone, not 100% if it's good for the battery or not.
Thermals for me were higher on oos13 hence why I switched back, I do prefer the look and feel of 13 but it annoyed me to have extra heat during gaming etc.
Haven't tested C.21 yet, but have heard good things.

I am on oos13 since the first day of stable build and now on C21, rooted with xposed and 4 modules running and didn't noticied any différence with and without root. Maybe loosing a bit with xposed but I still managed to get 11h of sot (wifi and a lot of reading) and average 6h on mobile data. Also the phone is debloated.
@dladz i used to charge my phone with old 20w op3 block (no need of full speed, and trying to save battery life) but the few times I used the 80w I didnt noticied more heat on C21 than on oos12. But I don't use m'y phone while charging and always put it in airplane mode. If you want I can try some scénarios while charging and send you températures to compare

Just run a heavy emulator like Aetherx2 running lets say Tekken Tag Tournament..
I noticed C20 throttle but not A17.
I haven't noticed c,21 as I've never installed it... Fair bit of work to get back to how I like my phone.... Plus a few mods that don't work on 13 yet

Ok i will try it. By throtteling you are just looking if the phone start lagging or testing with an app like '' cpu throtteling test ''?
I know you were talking of c20, I was saying that just for you to have some data/feedback of c21 si you don't have to try it yourself, if I can help. But yes if some of your mods don't work on 13 I understand why you are staying with 12

Then again it'd be nice for you to get Aetherx2 running.. Reckon you'll like it..
Throttling as in the device getting hot then cycling down the CPU to save it from overheating.
I noticed the dips in performance plus the heat was substantially higher on 13 than 12 just from memory.
Maybe some other heavy games could emulate this test too

Xiaomi eu. rom, 13.0.13 stable.

Dark mode
AoD ( Always on ) is OFF
I really expect 5-6-7 hours from this phone considering battery is 5000mAh and that alot of options are off.
Should i change ROM? Is something eating up my battery? Please help me, thank you.

Check app autostart and app battery saver level, screen resolution, FHD+/WQHD+, lower frequency to 90Hz or 60Hz.
After making the settings, if necessary, wait 48 hours to see the result.
Do a factory reset if nothing changes.
Or install a Xiaomi EU rom Weekly Miui 14 A13.
On my 12 pro, switching to A13 increased battery life.

If more SOT/battery runtime is your priority, consider changing to custom ROM.
I can get a whole day use from full charge , about 8-9 hours SOT @ 60hz. Even 10 hours is possible.
