Hello,
Just bought a Z3 compact recently and since yesterday (didn't install anything new, no special changes...), whenever I receive a message via the messaging app (stock, no hangout, it is disabled), the icon show, the phone vibrate or rings when needed, but doesn't show the message preview. I have to slide the statusbar to see it...
I have show notifications checked, no other app reading notifications.
Any help? I don't believe and I don't want to go through a factory reset because of only that :/

what about Settings>Personalization>Manage notifications
do you disable the Messaging app ?
btw I don't get what you mean by message preview ?

No, the messaging app is enabled there ^^'
Message preview, you know, the message being displayed on the statusbar when you receive a message (you don't have to slide the notifications bar to see it)
Yes, I have the same. When message arrives and screen is off then its nothing except led blink. I think that change with 5.0 update

The problem is that, even with screen on, it still doesn't scroll the text preview when I receive a message. I also have to add that everything else works (It does scroll down the data off info for example)
I do hope Lollipop will solve that, but it'll be long before it starts rolling.

But don't you think there is another solution beside running another messaging app? (hangouts runs just fine but meeeh)
Any idea how to allow Gmail and Hangouts apps notifications on lockscreen? If I go to Notification center in Settings, I cant find these two in list of apps. So I cant enable these to have notifications on lock screen. And there is no settings for it in these apps directly - so what now? Cant pull down notification list on lockscreen - seems disabled. So I can see only that I have Gmail/Hangouts msg - I see status icon, but no preview...
Sorry to say if they are not in the Notification Center then there is no way to turn them on. Huawei seems to exclude Google apps quite often.

Seems like its the case. But even when app has lockscreen notifications enabled, it just shows general message and not content. For example viber is showing only notification that you have XY nee messages, but not showing actual content even when specificaly enabled in app...
I don't use Viber but on my lock screen notifications from Skype I do see the content of the message. Overall I don't like their lock screen notifications. Man read the manual supplied with the phone !
Why I have all notifications in locks screen on my Mate7 ?
You have to go to notif.manager in settings and enable it!
If you don't want the content then from lock screen flick up from bottom tap on settings then screen lock and passwords and turn off detailed notifications..
Man just start get knowing device by exploring every corner every settings in it..

Do you have Mate S or not? Because I enabled these settings and still getting general notifications without actual texts. And I asked how to enable lockscreen notifications for gmail/hangouts, when these are not present in not. manager. Please read before typing angry posts...

Got it on IFA launch, wanted to use it few days before I write some review. Generally it seems like nice phone, great build, but runs one day and have some software issues - hope Huawei will fix these. Will try to report these through our PR guy, because I got no response at all from builtin support app (which opens mail app with filled email).
That's cool, I wish I could review it and get a hands on. However my general impression with Huawei has always been great hardware but the software has issues. If they were to scale back their skin like so many others are doing, and focus just on adding some of the more useful tweaks. Then I think the software would be matching the quality of the hardware. Not to mention faster OS updates.
I saw a video showing off the force touch soft keys on the bottom. I wondered if you could go back to regular soft keys. I think I'd rather have those buttons down there most of the time instead of trying to find where to force touch, or always having to use force touch.

No I don't I have Mate 7 so same software 5.1.1
google apps has its own settings.. i have yahoo mail and that is shown in notif lockscreen
reset the whole phone and start over..

Seems to be a EMUI Problem that some (Google) Apps are not listed at all in the Notification Manager, so nothing to do with knowing the Phone, Hangouts & GMail which were pre-installed are just not there. So they don't have the choice to be shown on the Lockscreen ...
I got my Mate S (CRR-UL00) a few days ago, and I have Gmail in the notification settings, and can activate lockscreen notifications from there.

Interesting, I have early model from press release on IFA and its still stuck on B106 and no update is offered. Got champagne 32gb version...

Ok, mine is the 64GB dual sim version, imported from China. When I got it last week, there was 5 updates ready to install...

Yesterday I received the face unlock update from Huawei. But my notifications since this update haven't worked the same as they did before.
On the lockscreen when I receive a notification from, let's say, facebook. It will tell me that there's a notification, but it shows as "content is hidden".
Same with whatsapp.. before the update I could read on the lockscreen who sent me a new message and what the message was. Now all it shows is "10 messages in 3 chats". But I can't show the messages untill I unlock the phone..
How do I get all notifications on my lockscreen again? Thank you.

huawei downgraded their phones. this function is also not available any more on P20 and P20 pro. this is why stock google android is better than any custom rom from any other producer
Go to Settings / Security & privacy / Face unlock / Smart lock screen notification and disable it.

Thanks, that worked.
You can use face unlock and see your notifications on the lock screen . Just go to apps & notifications - notifications management - click the top right 3 doots - lock screen notifications and select display all notifications .
This is a security feature, not a downgrade, bug, issue etc
This is bull.
Notifications on lock screen should be
1. Showing
2. Expandable so that you can see all messages and not just the first one
3. Actionable
Provided face unlock already ID-ed you.
Huawei and their EMUI sucked up(latest updates) and destroyed this functionality... now it only shows the first line content(after faceunlock ID) and if you want to see the rest of the messages, you STILL have to unlock your phone.

I have a weird issue with all apps on the latest MIUI 10 release for the Mi 8 SE.
The problem is that I don't get notifications from a single app when new info in it arrives, be it Email, Whatsapp or XDA Labs.
Only when I actually enter the app do I suddenly get to see all the new messages and missed voice calls, as if the app wasn't even allowed to work in the background.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Setting notifications to Urgent may help you.

Yeah, I did but it didn't change anything.
The only solution I could find was to lock the specific apps in the background with the recenta menu.
However, that increased the stand-by drain.
I have to wait for around 250 hours.
In the current Miui 10 beta, the default notification settings for most apps are set to off.
Goto to settings > notifications > app notifications
And you have to turn on individual notification types for every individual app in there. Doesn't fix the lock screen notifications though.

It's all already enabled. I even set the notifications as Important.
I'm not a potato, I know that MIUI is tricky but things that should fix the issue don't seem to work on the latest MIUI 10 build.
hello i want get a MI8 soon, but working notifications (mainly whatsapp) are important for me, will there be notifications in the Always on display or when the notification arrive that the display on for few seconds, and does the notificationlight work? i dont want first open the app for see if there is a new message, i need the push notifications working. any news ?

Works fine here. Don't use AOD though as I have an Amazfit Bip. Notification light works too.

I flashed the MIUI 10 from Xiaomi.eu and everything works fine.
And there's also no Chinese crap, even the Music app is without it.
if i disable the notch, will the notification icons are displayed on the screen ?
Weird i had lastest release from Xiaomi.eu and it didnt work......with 9.5 works perfectly
I dont receive any push notification for line (the one that slides down from the top whenver there is message) i have tried turning on the toggle for Message Notifcation but whenever i go back to the section the toggle is set to OFF automatically i'm really pissed. Read from some forum they complain that they facing the problem that wechat/watsapp msg arrive, it only show 2 seconds on the status bar beside the clock then after it vanish .
Current user do u have :
1: watsapp/wechat/facebook no show notification at the top of status bar ?
2: during lock screen, the msg arrive not showing ?
Pls clarify if you facing this problem .. or can change in the setting ?
For me every notifications appear then is hiden by the clock. I can never see if I got some notif by just unlocking my phone.
I have to swipe down the notif bar.
i think its for all, bad design by Xiaomi.
Hope they fix this soon, its was on my mi8 also, but if i remember correctly it was solved/fixed

It's because they most likely copied the OS's base system from POCO and MI8 which have very big notches and almost no space for both clock and notification icons.
But this is no longer the case with MI9 which has a very small notch and enough room for notification, so it's kind of lame from Xiaomi to rush the software and don't take this issue into consideration.
Maybe they will fix it soon with a software update.
