While the Mi A2 is an 5.99-inch phone it's not very easy to pull down the notification bar.
The feature to swipe down on the fingerprint scanner to pull down the notification bar was available on the Mi A1 but it's not available on the Mi A2 (stupid decision in my opinion).
And as far as I know the phone doesn't have the "Pull down notification bar" button either.
Is there a way to get the button or the fingerprint swipe down feature without root?

Try this works flawlessly

I have exactly this same problem, I can`t put down notification bar. I check google and there is even video of this problem: search for "Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite - Pull Down Notification Bar".
Does anyone know how to fix this? And does it have every mobile from this brand? I think it`s pretty serious bug...

This is not the A2 Lite forum. Also no problem here.
Thanks for answer but this is Xiaomi Mi A2 which is very similar, does anyone else had this problem? Or someone figured out how to increase size of the notification bar?

Hi. I'm thinking in how effective should be to be able to swipe in the notification area to access to quick easy toogles more than pulsing a button. Could anyone do a mod or a xposed mod for it? because I actually don't have any idea to do it.
Thanks in advance

there is an app called sense tool box, it is available in Android revolution HD rom thread(link in my signature), 2nd post. Using that, you can open directly open quick toggles by swiping up from home screen(swiping down will open notifications page). There are several other very useful mods in that app itself. Its worth checking out.

Thanks for the reply. I've installed but I didn't like that swipe at all. Are any possibility to create this mod to swipe in the notification area once notification status bar has been pulled down?? Thanks

Notification light and lockscreen notification I guess. Also you will get a floating notification when the screen is on. I doesn't miss the icons on the status bar at all.
I even turned off status bar icons on my Mi6. Hate clutter.
Oké that's clear thanks!

What rom are you using. I use eu.miui and WhatsApp isn't shown in AOD ,I also use SE
Sorry only read in recention, i have not oneplus
This is a fk'ing stupid design.
MIUI 10 or future updates should allow for notifications to show at the top. We get so many of them per day, it's important to know which ones matter at a glance.
Hi, I just received my Mi 8 a couple days ago. Global version for EU. I do receive notifications from GMail, Messenger, on lock screen... but the regular FB notifications are not being pushed, I have set it the same way as Messenger but no result.
¿Do you know if I need do something extra?
Read from some forum they complain that they facing the problem that wechat/watsapp msg arrive, it only show 2 seconds on the status bar beside the clock then after it vanish .
Current user do u have :
1: watsapp/wechat/facebook no show notification at the top of status bar ?
2: during lock screen, the msg arrive not showing ?
Pls clarify if you facing this problem .. or can change in the setting ?
For me every notifications appear then is hiden by the clock. I can never see if I got some notif by just unlocking my phone.
I have to swipe down the notif bar.
i think its for all, bad design by Xiaomi.
Hope they fix this soon, its was on my mi8 also, but if i remember correctly it was solved/fixed
same for me
I have for 2-3 seconds the notification on the statut bar , and after it's disappear

It's because they most likely copied the OS's base system from POCO and MI8 which have very big notches and almost no space for both clock and notification icons.
But this is no longer the case with MI9 which has a very small notch and enough room for notification, so it's kind of lame from Xiaomi to rush the software and don't take this issue into consideration.
Maybe they will fix it soon with a software update.
Still no fix?

Hi, I need your opinion. I have a problem with the notification bar after the last update of Android. Randomly appears gear icon on the bar and after that, I cannot pull down the notification bar. I don't know if that problem is related to the Android update. Maybe it is something else. I need to know how to identify the gear icon. When I kill all running apps, gear icon disappears and everything is OK.
What process could do that? I don't have root permissions. I have official global ROM with MIUI Global 11.0.6.0 (QFAEUXM). I don't want to do a factory reset.
Thank you so much
Yikes... Did you do anything that could've triggered that? Like for instance, were you playing with system apps or trying new settings? Or game mode? Because I know that game mode has an option that won't let you pull down the notification bar. I know that it may not be possible for that to happen, but I have to ask just in case (I'm talking about the game mode scenario).

I have the same error ( MI 9)
https://streamable.com/p32y3
the notification bar remains black and can't be pulled down
havesam problem tough.but i just need scroll down little bit,i mean not from edge of the screen.
Same issue, Mi 9 SE, MIUI Global 11.0.2 .... with the same gear icon, with the same solution, what you just mentioned. Did anyone find a working solution?
found out what's causing the ominous notification
Hey, I downloaded an app called Notification History and it showed me that most probably it's the notification linked below. Unfortunately I'm still unable to solve the problem because I cannot start that app.
im#gur.com/a/EnleCU5(as I'm not yet allowed to post links, remove the hashmark)
Of course, I'm unable to tap there since I can't pull down the notification bar
Found a solution!!

Okay, all I did was re-downloading the latest patch from Settings->About phone->System update->3 dots in the top right corner->download latest package, and then installed it. It solved my problem so far, without any data loss or reinstalling. Hope this helps y'all!
UPDATE: The issue came back a day later, so I finally decided to factory reset the phone... smh Xiaomi
I've got a CN version of this phone. I it updated the day after I received it so I think some of the notification issues mentioned before has been resolved... or at least I haven't experienced what some others have described yet.
at the moment I seem to be receiving the notifications as they arrive... but I still miss them because there is no easy way to know the notifications have arrived!!
The AOD / screen off clock is quite useless (at least in the CN ROM) it only shows the clock, missed call and SMS. Thats it. I'm trying notify buddy now, which kind of solves the problem. I say "kind of", because while it does allow me to have an LED notification, it deactivates the finger print sensor until you wake it. And also I seem to be getting large battery drain with it.
AOE doesn't work for me.
Is there anyway to get the screen off clock to show other notifications as well ?
Thanks for anyones help.

I got EU version and have exactly the same problem. ColorOS 6.1
I googled a lot trying to find a way to personalize AOD clock (like Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro) but I couldn't find anything.
I searched also for a method to make it show other notifications but there isn't nothing.
Maybebe someone else found something?
Unfortunately I think the situation won't change too much with Android 10.

Actually it will. Android 10/reame ui brings new AOD with notification and customizations.

I'm afraid he said nothing about app notifications on AOD. Although, there is a notification switch in Screen-Off Display settings, so maybe there is a chance
Its really annoying that they made a phone without useful AOD notifications AND without an LED for notifications.. having to turn on the screen to check for notifications is inconvenient and probably uses more battery.
really hope the next update sorts this out.
on a side note, notifybuddy does solve kinda solve this problem.. but its not an elegant solution.
major battery drain and the finger print sensor is blocked by the notifybuddy overlay..
I'm planning to buy the X2 pro and had the same question. Does the phone allow to see new app notification preview on screen off display (AOD)... and not just the app icon?
Currently I am using the mia1 and I am able to see new app notification flashes in Ambient mode... without waking the phone.
Thanks in advance.

The screen edge flashes for a couple of seconds when you recieve something, though you can't know which app it is if you have multiple notifications. No preview as far as I've noticed.

Thanks. Sad to know that even an app icon doesn't show up on a screen off display If they want to move closer to stock Android these are some of the features they should have. Oxygen atleast has paid heed to this concern by releasing beta versions for op7 and op7t.
Personalising the screen off clocks doesn't help me much. I'd rather do away with the clock and mantra and get the msg preview feature in.
Thanks

Ah no, that's not what I mean. You get the icon, but it doesn't show the message or blink the icon (so if you have multiple icons, you don't know which is the current notification).
