Part 2 - Sounds and vibration, Notifications, Wallpaper and themes
If you're new to this series or want to see the index, please read the Introductory Post first.
Sound and vibration
Vibrate while ringing: I have enabled it as in environments where ringtone is not loud enough, vibrations in my pocket helps me.
Ringtone: Set Ringtone for each of your SIMs. Tap Add to add music from your storage. Select 'Highlights only' to play only a specified part of the track and not necessarily from the beginning. This way you can make ringtones from the music track itself but anyways here are the best ringtones sites. The existing catalog in the device has few nature-inspired tones - I've set it to 'Friday'.
Vibration Pattern: Specifies vibration pattern for your Calls. Choose it to something by which you can easily differentiate your calls from a standard notification from the initial vibration itself. I've set it to 'Off-beat'.
Notification sounds: You can set customized notification for each app in app's settings itself so set this one as a default notification - something short that won't annoy you. My choice is 'Twinkle'.
Volume: Play with them to find what suits you. In my case, System (touch sounds, back button sounds, etc.) is zero while notifications on the lowest side. You can still control them by pressing volume rocker and then expanding the pop-up.
Vibration Intensity: If you get annoyed, like I do, by vibrations for every notification, set it to zero or alternatively set it to a lower level while tweaking individual app notification settings to allow/disallow vibrations. 'Touch interaction' is for on-screen touches while 'Hard press home button' is for the hard home button in Note9.
Use Volume keys for media: I never wanted to control ringtone with volume rockers. Must be enabled!
System sounds and vibration: Touch sounds; Screen lock sounds; Charging sounds; Vibration feedback; Dialling keypad tones; Keyboard sounds; Keyboard vibration; Touch vibration: I've set it off; on; on; on; off; off; off (I use SwiftKey); on.
Advanced sound settings > Sound quality and effects, Separate app sound:
Dolby Atmos: Read about it here. I've set it to Auto. You can easily toggle modes from the notification bar itself (move it to first page).
Equaliser: Play with it to decide what's best for you. Here is an Equaliser guide for you so that you can play with the Advanced mode as well.
UHQ upscaler: Bit-upscaling works best for me. Read a pro analysis on UHQ upscaling modes here.
Tube Amp Pro; Concert hall: They are disabled when using Dolby Atmos. I prefer Dolby Atmos over either of them.
Adapt Sound: Do try it! Add trying a new profile for each of your earphones or audio device and personalise sound. You can try existing profiles and toggling Clear or Soft sound preference.
Seperate app sound: Useful in cases where you don't want an app's sound to play on your default audio device. I have set 'App' to Chome/Facebook and Audio device to 'Phone' so that they don't accidently play on the connected device in case Bluetooth is left on.
Notifications
App icon badges: Useful though I use similar feature 'Notification badges' in Nova Launcher.
Do not disturb: You can schedule it though I recommend Tasker or IFTTT for scheduling stuff. Do explore Allow exception > Custom to enable 'Repeat callers', allowing calls/messages from specific group, allowing event/task/reminders. Customize DND so that your 3rd-party (scheduling) apps when enabling it enables your customized settings. Review 'App rules' when set by them. Allow or disallow LED or visual notifications when DND is enabled.
Status bar: Since I usually get a lot of notifications, I've disabled 'Show recent notifications only'. It's not a bad idea to get the actual percentage of battery level so enable 'Show battery percentage'.
LED indicator: Enable and then try apps like LightFlow (Pro) to define pro LED settings.
App Notifications: You can customize each App's notification here itself or can do this simply in that App's settings. I prefer customizing App settings when they arrive in the notification bar by holding the notification and tapping settings. This way, in some time, you'll make your app notifications fully customized for all of those that bother you. With Pie, you have now greater control of each app's notification. You can even customize notification subcategories of a particular app. Do check 'silent and minimized' mode that doesn't create a mess in your notification panel as well as minimizes the content by default with no sound. Do you need a separate guide to master this? Do tell. You can also refer to a good article here.
Advanced:
Allow or disallow lock screen notifications, DND exception and Importance. As above, I prefer doing this via app settings when needed.
Menu: 'Show system apps' for customizing notifications of the bloatware. 'Reset preference' in case you believe you have messed up with all your notifications or you need a fresh start.
Wallpaper and themes
It will route you to Samsung Themes. I use seperate icon and theme packs for Nova Launcher. I do use AOD packs from the Themes. Do explore this section on XDA itself. I'm going to develop some themes (preferably AOD skins) soon and will let you know. Learn how to develop yours here.

Is it just me, or am I completely missing the point of this? You've gone to all the trouble of explaining in great detail, a series of self explanatory settings.
It reads more as a long list just of what you have all your settings on haha.

Assuming that you have read the Introductory Post, I'm really sorry if it didn't work for you. I had tried to make sure that I don't iterate self-explanatory things that's why I haven't copy-pasted the descriptions that comes with the device. While exploring all the settings, I had to google many of them - maybe not a pro user like you. That's the reason I decided to compile this.
No worries if this series fails for everyone (though I believe there would be a group of users that I'd be able to help in anyway - maybe non-XDA users). Even if it's a no-go, moderators are free to close this thread. I always wanted to document the settings and this will at least help me in the future.
Peace.

Keep up the good work, please, finish the entire series. :good:
This is a great idea, if one feels they don't need it, they can simply move on to the rest of the device forum.
If nothing else it's a more detailed/user-friendly version of the OEM User guide.

Really gives me motivation, sir. I had already compiled the full series before moving to XDA. Three of total five parts are already posted. I was bit demotivated that's why was hesitating to immediately post the remaining two. They'll be posted within an hour now.
Thanks.

This is something I think should be a part of every device forum, especially the more popular devices.
Perhaps approach the powers that be @ XDA with the idea,to have this sort of breakdown of the phone,in its own sub-section of a device forum,to go along with the 5-6 existing sub-sections.
Such a section would address a lot of questions people have regarding their devices.
Maybe XDA will offer you (& others) a position on their staff to take this up................... :good:

Thanks for identifying the long-term goal of mine. I always wanted a single discussion space for similar kind of queries. While exploring every other unfamiliar setting on the device, when I googled them, I saw a lot of similar threads even in same website like XDA. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll surely try.
I'm now done with all the five parts (here is the index). I surely need more criticism to improve but I'm sure this is the way to go. I have been a pro mobile user since 2012 and I can bet on that most of the users have never explored even the basic settings in their devices. Even if I help a dozen of them, this is my success.
Thanks for supporting. Let's see how this works.
Why are you posting this ?
There's a very good "USER MANUAL" on the "Samsung"-site available:

I'm really sorry for disappointing you. It would be nicer if you could tell me how to improve the content. Coming to your 'Why' part, I think I have already explained it in the Introductory Post as well as included the message in top of every part.
I had already gone through the User Manual before I decided to compile this. User Manual has over 300 pages and it's too descriptive. It's feasible for a step-by-step process of a specific feature with even describing every button click and combination. I've summarized every single one of them in 5 parts. No one is going to read the manual in one go but I was able to fresh start my device in few minutes by going through my documentation. This may be a bad idea but as @KOLIOSIS says, I also think that this should be a basic part of each device's forum.
If manual could answer everything, why are there multiple QAs on XDA with similar queries like these:
samsung pay fingerprint section greyed out
wifi power saving mode
phone visibility
bluetooth low energy
seperate app sound
These are only few ones which I have just find out by going through first 2 parts and picking up any settings randomly. And I have filtered out results from XDA only. You'll see hundred of similar posts over many forums. This is a new idea and I will be happy to admit even if it fails. I get no worries for trying something new.

Credits:
Foremost, let us all acknowledge Koushik for his brilliant "Sensors" library upon which most if not all non-HTC apps that use the G-Sensor, Light-Sensor, and Navi-Sensor are built, simply ingenious. Moreover, I would like to recognize No2chem for the NeuLed2 library which is an equally exquisite peace of code that allows access to the Diamond/Pro Leds. Without those two guys, accessing these advance interfaces on the diamond/pro would be inapproachable at best.
Reason: Since I bought my Diamond, I constantly thought HTC gave it a lot of sensors but nearly no .."Sense".
......... X-Sense ...........
* Hopefully, an innovaton & integration of RANDOM but needful features...
Features:
1. Courtesy Settings:
- Select Volume Profiles to activate on Face-Down & Face-UP events. Choose from: None, Silent, Normal, and Vibrate. You can also choose to suspend the Phone when its facing down (duh!).
- Automatically activate/deactivate the Speakerphone during phone calls depending on the phone's posture. In other words, if you're not holding the phone up then it will automatically activate the Speakerphone.
2. Notifications-Sense:
- IF there is/are any outstanding notification(s), the device will vibrate whenever you move it at customizable intervals: Missed Call(s), Voice Mail, and SMS only.
3. Stylus-Sense:- When the Stylus is in/out: Will play faint sound + Blink the Back button's light +/Vibrate. Moreover, the device will vibrate whenever you move it at customizable intervals.
- When the Stylus is out and the device is moved: Device will vibrate twice on every posture change + blink the Back button's light to REMIND you that the Stylus has not been placed back in. This goes ON until the Stylus is placed where it should be.
* Uses "in.wav" & "out.wav" files in the \XSense\ Dir; you can use whatever wave files for this.
4. General Settings:
- Polling Interval: From 200 to 3000 Miliseconds. This determines the rate at which the G-Sensor is polled. Lower values give higher response times and fluid operation at the cost of battery life & CPU utilization.
- Flash Navi Lights: Will blink button lights to notify you of Profile changes and Stylus In/Out.
- Vibrate on Events: Will induce very subtle vibrations to notify you of Notifications and Profile changes.
- Suspend when UP-Side-Down: Your phone will suspend if you hold it up-side-down (duh!)
- Light Navi Button When Suspended: Will do just that. This is an independent setting that turns ON the Navi button's light at suspend time, and OFF at Resume time (this is Event Driven, so no polling is involved). This feature really helps if, like me, you want to see where the damn thing is in the dark - before you launch it against the floor.
6. Installs to "\Program Files\XSense", and Creates 2 shortcuts:
"Start Menu\Programs\XSense" and "Startup\XSenseSvc".
Program Settings are saved to the Registry at "HKCU\Software\XSense\".
Use of System Resources:
1. Diskspace: 162 KB RAM footprint: 374-535 KB Battery: NOT observed.
2. CPU Usage: %0.29 Average. Spikes for 2 seconds to %2.7 - %8.5.
* Indicated CPU usage occurs ONLY when there is an EVENT (posture changed, stylus in/out Sounds playing,
etc)
Logic:
- During phone calls, All features are suspended except the Speakerphone-specific code.
- Program will respond to posture changes only 2 seconds after they have occured, this is to
avoid unintended operation ( as much as possible ).
- Vibration: The way I like it is in waves of 200 miliseconds length! I generally hate vibrations, so if you want it at 201 ms. you're welcome to make your own program and enjoy the merits of your personal taste.
- This prgram Registers Event Handlers for: "G-Sensor", "Incoming Call", "Phone Call in Progress", "Stylus in/out", and Power Manager events. DO NOT move it to Internal Storage, you have been warned.
Requirements:
.NET 3.5 + Diamond or Raphael.
Restrictions:
Only for the Diamond/Raphael (vis-a-vis, it will crash on any other device!)
Bugs/Limitations:
Knock yourself out...

can i have your permission to review this app on a video? i have a youtube dedicated to the FUZE but also other stuff
looks promising and nice
Nice but . . .
OK first off I love this program it works very smoothly, except for one thing, and I am sure this is a simple fix. I unzipped and copied everything to the root folder of my device. Started the application and it starts working, very cleanly I might ad. However the stylus function isn't working for me. I am sure it just has to do with the file of the wav, should I put these in any specific folder?

Tell me more:
- Did the stylus-out/in sound EVER play?
- Did you change the original wav files?
- Is the phone's system volume (not the Ringer) loud enough to be heard?
Notes:
- The wav files (in.wav and out.wav) are supposed to be in the same directory as the program.
- The original wav files are subtle, they are meant to merely "hint" at you.
Glad that this app really works. Maybe in the next release you could add some settings so we can customize it as we wish. The only small problem that I encountered is that the phone doesn't turn back to loud mode when I flip it unless I push the wake button to turn the screen on. This can be annoying sometimes because I missed a call this way...
Good job on this app. It's really subtle but useful at the same time.

Thank you mate. I intend to create a settings screen altough that would be both cumbersome and useless for the current feature-set except for the stylus sounds.
I am thinking of adding a launcher to the stylus events, perhaps a new note would open on stylus-out, then save+close on stylus-in.. who knows, eh?
As for the missed call......LOL... I think that's just the point ...Seriously though, WM devices cannot survive the battery strain if they don't sleep (suspend). So, we do with what we got
Cheers
only issue i am having is.. I would prefer not to have the navi lights on all the time... whether the phone is face up or down my navi lights are always on
Short Review
ok soo far i tested the app and i have to say is this is a real good app, only problems im encountering is the vibration is very very faint, but i guess thats ur deal of conserve battery life? theres no problem to it and besides...speaking of battery life, leaving the NavLight on and messing around with the app for 5 mins straight didnt even take a percent off of my battery, ill try for a more deeper battery challenge but anyways, heres a list of suggestions, pros and cons, btw this app makes my TouchPro look 5000 times more cooler too something ive been wanting on this phone
PROS:
-Courtesy Sense seems to be very effective
-doesnt kill my battery much(yet)
-not a CPU Heavy app, still can run TP flawless
-Stylus Sense is responsive
-not a memory heavy app
CONS:
-Response of every "sense" is very slow, takes like 2 seconds to switch
-Courtesy Sense can sometimes be out of control, can possibly switch the volume off and on since i have my TP in my vertical case(but that can be fixable i guess)
-Cant close the app(if user decides to) but theres a way to close it through task manager(not HTC TM though)
-Backlights dont light up anymore if app is in use
-Cant unmute unless you switch the device on
Suggestions:
-Make a settings menu where u can adjust the poll speed and sensitivity and what Senses you can turn Off or On
-Should make the Stylus notification light blink every 15-30 seconds or 1 min at the most
-Also to add on the Notifications Sense is the famous blinking LED Light whenever you shake the device
-Close/Exit option onto the app
-When the device's volume is set on silent or vibrate, the Common Sense should be turned off until the device volume is set back to normal
-and probably something crazy, the Party Light Mode, where you can make the lights blink with noise or fade different paterns or blink with some random pattern just for FUN lol
Overall Score 9/10 and thats my honest opinion...this is a great app especially in Alpha stage
Video Review coming up this weekend, ill be posting a link soon, thnx for the great app

Bro, let me thank you for a VERY groovy flick, I enjoyed every bit of both your written and video reviews.
I must praise you further for a great job at a thorough & constructive critique. Your stylish review and suggestions are valuable and are noted with all due enthusiasm. I will try my utmost to reflect what I can on my next attempt - the Beta. Also, I will contemplate creating this "feast of lights" you're craving as a token of gratitude for your effort
Cheers
Here's v1.0 ... fully customizable.
This seems to be unneeded around here, So... for the few who want it, y'all can download it from the Diamond Section - In the meantime, I'll be contemplating ways of making new versions unusable on the Raphael for the obvious unpopularity of this device, and equally evident lack of enthusiasm from those who have it
Cheers

Wow. I love the concept.
I didn't have a chance to check out the whole video (youtube was acting up), but does this have the ability to automatically dim the screen to a specified level based on what application I have open? For example, could I set it to automatically dim my screen to the lowest setting when I have my bank app open?
That would probably make this worthwhile.

Version 1.2 is out:
Added Tasker/Locale plugin !
thanks alot for posting, keep it up, you're doing great!
I just purchased the app. I like it, especially for the Tasker integration.
I was using the other 'Screen Filter' app for a while but it was
having full brightness flicker issues when I would have Tasker change
the filter % from one value to another. This was incredibly annoying.
I do have a MAJOR request though that I believe would help me truly
appreciate my purchase. The primary reason I use these filters is to
attempt to black out my AMOLED screen.....unfortunately, your Total
Screen Filter app maxes the filter at 94.12%. This is a huge problem
for me. Furthermore, your competitor (Screen Filter by haxor industry)
allows for dimming the screen even further then your app (they allow
for 2% filter....which is what you call 98% in your app....almost
pitch black).
I'm an optical engineer and work in extreme dark rooms alot. Sometimes NO VISIBLE LIGHT can be on in these rooms
while experiments are running...sometimes a very small amount is
acceptable.
So my DESPERATE plea for a feature request:
Allow for users to push the filter further beyond 94.12%....ideally a
full 100% black out. Because honestly, 94.12% is not enough at all for
my purposes. At least allow for a 98% filter so you can be equivalent
to your competitor's capabilities (which is a free app I might add).
I can understand your concerns with allowing this ability (people
unknowingly blacking out their screens). So maybe making it a
non-default ability would work perfectly. I use these filters with
Tasker and have it setup so I can easily remove the screen blackout
under particular conditions. Please help me out here. This ability
would really make me happy.

non-default ability would work perfectly. I use these filters with
Tasker and have it setup so I can easily remove the screen blackout
under particular conditions. Please help me out here. This ability
would really make me happy.

Hi, it will be implemented in the next version
Regards,
Alex
We begin with a premise. We are a facebook group that has as its object the OnePlus3 (The group name’s is OnePlus3/3T ITA). We decided to collect our ideas to suggest to you what OnePlus Developer should add to our device to make it perfect.
This is the suggestion list that we hope you will implement. Many of these requests want to be implemented as a possibility of choice. When you buy a OnePlus you want to have more liberty of customization.
HOME CUSTOMIZATION:
1- A better weather application:
- more information (such as Google Now or Windows 10 PC-style)
- a better widget on shelf bar*!
*I now that i can tap on the top to open weather application but it would be nice see a greater integration with more information.
2- Ability to have another swipe from right to left to access to the news of google now (after the shell).
3- Ability to access to the app drawer as the new Pixels Launcher with a swipe from bottom to top.
4- A package of circular icons.
5- Being able to change the display grid of apps in the app drawer and the home.
6- Ability to remove the drawer and leave all apps in the home (such as iOS or Miui).
HARDWARE BUTTON:
7- Ability to set the lateral slider as follows: ringer, vibrate, silent (Also this based on the choice of people. Just put a simple option in the settings).
8- One handed mode with a swipe on central button touch.
CAMERA:
9- Frontal Flash with the use of screen brightness. We need this feature for selfie during night or dark place.
10- Manual mode during video.
11- Ability to record video in HDR mode.
12- Slow Motion with audio.
13- A best correction of the white balance in manual mode with a slider (as LgG4 or LgG5).
OTHER REQUEST:
14- A Toggle for the pocket mode (switch on/off).
15- Enter to the clock app by clicking on the time in the bar of the expanded notifications.
16- Ability to personalize the night mode with different screen temperatures. Like “twilight” app.
18- Quick access to the battery from the notification bar as in the version 3.2.X.
19- Ability to set the background of the app and the notifications bar completely BLACK (not only dark grey. That is not nice).
20- Integration of an energy saving system that would limit the use of the CPU without affecting the application synchronization and data in the background.
Even an "ultra power saving mode" as on Galaxy s6/s7 would be very nice.
21- Ability to zoom the video in the playback phase (as on LgG4 and G5) with a simple "pinch to zoom". This is a COOL FEATURE.
22- Always On function.
All of us in the facebook group OnePlus3/3T ITA want to thank OnePlus and his team for the way they are working on our terminal. We also hope that these requirements listed above will be upheld in positve way.
THANK YOU
P.S: If you (that you're not part of the facebook group) share these ideas, copy them and put them in the last question ("Do you have any advice that we can use to improve the next beta builds? Please describe in detail") of the feedback of CB 3.5.4.
All I want is for oneplus to open up their camera to third party devs... CM14 is better than anything oneplus has been able to offer, but we need a better camera!

This is a trascription of a Carl Pei's interview to XDA's community : "We want to, and we’ve been talking about internally. So there’s a challenge with the camera because if we want a blob, then there are two major challenges. The first one being, the code relating to the camera is on a lot of layers, so you have something related to the camera on the framework level, something on the Android level, something on a system level. So we’re gonna have to rewrite a lot of code to be able to separate it in a way that allows us to blob it. And the second reason is, if we were to blob it the result is that the speed will suffer, so the speed of the camera UX on custom ROMs will suffer. We’re still trying to figure out a way of how we can release something that will help people improve the camera in their custom ROMs without making the experience become too bad. And we don’t want something with our logo to have a poor experience either. So it is going to be a little bit harder than we thought, but we’ve been discussing this"

Looks like they should have made it more developer friendly from the beginning. Did they honestly think that nobody would be using custom ROMS?

X1.000.000 on this
Also, ability to have different sound level Calls and Notifications
Ability to hide apps in app drawer and make folders.
And private mode in gallery, working with fingerprint would be nice.
Different sound levels for calls and notifications.
Always on display which consumes just a little battery
For me the one trivial thing that really should be addressed are those awful accent colors. Especially for the dark theme.
The palette used is so pale! Except for the green and the sky blue I don't think anyone really likes the others. They really should change those to Material Design colors or atleast give the option to customize.
1. The most important !!! I want to be able to instal any rom without reflashing recovery, firmware or anyting else.
2. I want to set Finger print to lock/unlock screen without any pass or pattern, that means to work everytime.
3. Camera to make Macro photos.
The purpose of this thread is simple...
To discuss anything that will truly add features to our phone... As we know this is a light skinned version of stock Android
And here I will be presenting links to apps and threads and everyone can contribute... Which add features to Op5...
Not just ui customizations..... Features...
Definition of a feature...
Something which your phone does which it couldn't do before that app..
So come on guys.. Lets start...
Though I did hate the laggy TouchWiz. I did live the s pen and S note...
And honestly speaking you wll too...
Let's try and customize our Op5.. To the extent that we want to...
This thread will present a series of apps and threads links etc..
Which will help the user to truly add whatever features they want from whatever skin htc sense Samsung TouchWiz to their op5
And I am no developer so please help me out here...

Thai all add the air command and scrapboom like features to the phone ..
What it does....
Allows you to take custom screen shots and save content like scrapbook for later use...
It is also a over screen float like air view...
It kinda blows samsung air view out of the box... But ya note devices do have bigger screens...

MacroDroid - Device Automation
MacroDroid is a powerful task automation and configuration app that focuses heavily on usability with a simple UI and logical step by step process.
Amazing UI. In my experience better than Tasker.
How about Always On AMOLED - BETA?
It's a simple app which keeps your screen on always (like MOTO devices). Nice and cool. If you pay a small amount you get an unlocked version with customization...
Loved the suggestions guys... Specially the always on amoled

I have two minor additions I'd want added:
1. More customizable theme colors (or honestly I just want red back!)
2. Invertable color option for the system tray
TL;DR add automatic rules
I had a note 5 I loved it, unfortunately it didn't like the hot tub.. TBH I never used the pen much, but when I did it was handy, perfect for field work; snap a pic, doodle on it, send it off. Awesome! I was torn between buying a note FE or the OP5, I'm glad I stuck with OP from a 2 to a 3 to a 5. I've become a flash-a-holic.
The feature I'd love to see is "automatic rules" you can actually get access to the setting on OOS if you have nova launcher, but it just doesn't work. I'm using "#1 profile" to automatically set the phone to priority only at bed time, this shouldn't be a difficult thing for OP to add/activate to OOS.
I'd also like the old dialer, or for that matter any other dialer, swipe down to answer for me is counter intuitive. Like thumbs up thumbs down, swipe up to answer, or swipe down to reject a call.
I wish you could choose the text bubble colour in the default sms app. Like textra or Google messages (too bad they don't have a dark theme for Google messages).
A setting to switch the wireless data indicator from 4g to LTE, I'm not sure why this bugs me, but it does.
How about Tiles? Also, Virtual Hosts is excellent for setting up a root free ad block. Just download one of Steven Black's host files from GitHub and point the app to it.
Would love for buttons and gestures (especially screen off) to be able to invoke app shortcuts. Just imagine the possibilities for Tasker.
Always on display.
Notification badges on the stock launcher so I can enjoy the shelf.

This is a nice app and I have paid to support but the battery hit is just too much right now compared to what you get using LG or Samsung's version

I don't understand why not a single stock ROM has long-press volume to skip track. Its such a simple feature. Its baked into every single custom ROM out there. It was there on Sony Ericsson phones (Walkman and K series). I need to get the damn phone out of the pocket, turn the screen on, unlock, open notifications shade, and press to skip a god damn song. (Not all headphones come with buttons, and not all headphones support skipping songs by multi-pressing the buttons.)
2 features I'd love added:
1. Long press back to kill app
2. Brightness slider in notification drop down. I know there is one, but you have to fully extend it to change it. My S7 had the option to place it in the first drop down.
Yeah I agree with most of you, some useful additions:
1. Badges on the Stock OP Launcher! I love it from my iPhone and sometimes forget to answer because I swyped the notification away and no badges to know there are still unread messages
2. Always On or something similar, but only if it doesn't use too much battery and no burn-in
3. Kill all apps in background with one button gesture
I'd love to see OMS commits get to OOS and probably experiment with the Kernel a bit (I know you can flash a custom, but if you'd like to stay complete stock, without unlocking). Maybe improve audio libs similar to ARISE....
How about a one-handed mode feature? That would be pretty helpful.
- Options to block QS & Power menu on secured lockscreen. (Smart Lockscreen protector app does the job, but it's service doesn't start at boot until the first unlock...)
- Skip music tracks using volume keys
- Built in Caffeine tile (the one from play store works well, but doesn't reset when turning screen off).
- Launch torch using power button long press when screen is off
- One-handed mode
- Center status bar clock
Hi guys,
1- badges for notifications. All my previous phones had this function.
2- more functions in auto mode for camera app, it's too basic for me. And in pro mode, I cannot set up the luminosity if the speed is in manual.
3- ultra power saving mode, like Samsung does, very useful when no more battery and we know no access to electricity for several hours.
4- Resize several pictures at the same time. Sometimes I need to send some pictures but the weight is too big.
1. Badges for unread msg or any notification
2. Always on
3. Camera should have more modes
4. Blurred wallpaper on lock screen
Always on clock
Ability to have status bar icons anywhere ie: signal on left
Ability to use dual cameras for wide angle
Ability to use normal USB-C to HDMI cables (not displaylink, Chromecast and wireless solutions are not fit for gaming, one of the 1+5s strongest points)
Screen off/on animation
List view animations
Full halo support
I'll think of more but that's my list of wants
I made a post after getting pie update and now, here is an in-depth list of features of android Q in ZMP M1
all phones are not getting the same features
removing screen lock /fingerprint doesn't save you from password after update (at least it didn't work for me ) make a backup of everything in case you need to reset
list of things I'll suggest making a backup
WhatsApp chat
google photos
apps with es file explorer or any such file manager
settings + contacts+ call log+ messages from settings backup
notification led :
I like to turn it off all the rime even when charging but in android Q I couldn't find any way to disable it during charging
i was checking my old post about pie
1. Ambient Display : settings>display>advance>Ambient Display
It works only when you get a notification (its dope would like it being enabled always) though Daydream nowhere to be found.
Click to collapse
so ambient display is gone screensaver is back (edit: its renamed and moved to display lock screen area as new notification toggle)
volume panel:
change volume click more slider button and this is how to devolve UI it shows a big screen covering prompt to show sliders
font in developer settings only two options device default seems better
no third-party launcher supports the new gesture navigation but it is a problem on google's part
left earphone to week? there is audio balance in assessability settings
vibratin and haptic feedback in assessability
not the true dark mode in assessability settings dark theme and color inversion options are nearby enough to test what we could have got for dark mode
dark mode doesn't get turn back to a light mode in live wallpaper
assessability volume key shortcut might come in in handy for some but it makes a notification sound
there is charging sound and vibration in sound settings might want to turn it off, I have seen Samsung charging sound but Asus just makes the phone vibrate with a faint sound might scare people who don't know as it's on by default in android q
I am getting the rotate once button in navbar when autorotate is off I am using two-button navigation and a small circle when using gesture
the lockdown option to prevent unlock by any other means now also prevents notification to show can be enabled in display>lock screen display> show lockdown option
in gesture navigation you can swipe up and continue in an app to make it go smaller beyond it should go
to start android it asks for setup screen lock password it is stepping in the right direction but we should have it in kernel/bios as once entered in recovery mode anyone can reset a phone
QR code to share wifi available
still no way to monitor or block devices connected to your hotspot
default Bluetooth name QCOM-BTD Qualcomm's BLE chip?
widgets to settings shortcut there should be system UI tuner after opening it shows this funny warning message
apps notificatio>notification snoozing useless button more useless because cant see snooze option in youtube notification
battery saver got new auto turn off at 90% feature
battery picture in battery settings seems thick would prefer "ampere app" like stats in later versions
display don't have color temperature adjust
accelerated location something about data storage and data concent
high accuracy, battery saver, etc options for location not available
google play system update is 1 January 2020 please update it
security patch is 5nov 2019
privacy section is great but would like fingerprint prompt in autofill scenario as like for wifi sharing
digital wellbeing well let's skip it as I already have 18 unlocks 1 hr30 mins in the settings app and will have 4hr+ in youtube so let's skip it
verificatin code auto fill in google settings I something nice to have but also worrying
now you can directly launch apps from app info after force stopping
in about phone >emergency info> medical info you can add your profile pic and emergency contacts
dev options> picture color mode sRGB does this option even work any were?
in dark mode theme when searched in settings there is a white padding
dev options> game driver properties I don't know what it does perhaps boost graphics performance
feature flags section in dev options shows nothing except experimental (edit: these were removed in Q beta 3)
system traces have many options like pre CPU buffer and in the category, it has some tick box options and possibly CPU performance after we stop getting updates
swipe up to recent in any navigation option seem a bit too sensitive
audio seems of though I only watched youtube (Linus tech tips) so far that is without headphones
in dev options audio Bluetooth codec shows APTX HD and other option which might make Bluetooth audio great
in dev options profile HWUI seems new but not sure what it is the bars shown on-screen seems familiar
in dev options adaptive notification priority makes no difference and doesn't have any description but a quick google search shows it is supposed to make low notification priority genital
in dev options apps can be installed in external storage option
in dev options force activities resizable doesn't work in split-screen view but I may be doing something wrong
also I hate the lock icon when unlocking also there is no center icon with face/fingerprint or padlock in lock screen
in dev options wifi entending option might help in office or home to extend wifi if it works
in dev options enable freeform windows doesn't work
in dev options forced desktop scant be tested as no video output but wireless display might allow haven't tested
in dev options I enabled bubble notification will add things that can access it
in dev options auto fill section is too vague and I am not getting what anything does
in the last pie post I said
2. icons in overview/multitasking screen

it is now in theming in dev options
also ambient display (not to be confused with screensaver) kicks in when getting notification while the screen is off (edit: realized after posting this Asus renamed and moved to it to display> lock screen display> new notification )
widevine changed to L3 its used to stream Amazon Prime Video, BBC, Hulu, Netflix, Spotify, and Disney+ use Widevine DRM to manage the distribution of premium content. as a college student who has no job and already has to spend money on Jio internet I don't have any above-mentioned subscriptions and if you do use any services according to other beta testers you won't be supposably able to access them while in beta.
camera app
in pro mode no shutter speed control option
max iso in pro mode is 1600 like in HMD global camera
auto video encoder is h264
portrait mode has extremely bad edge detection
night mode isn't that good
no fps option for video like 24,25,29.98,30,60 fps etc
no raw support in stock camera app resulting in assumption camera2api isn't enabled by default, though I enabled it in pie and it carried forward maybe so I am not sure.
it is a bit long but if you are reading this then thanks for reading till the end I'll format the whole thing later
{Mod edit: Quoted OP removed for better reading}
There's really no option for notification led,
You get wake display for new notifications in lock screen display
I don't like that either its ugly pie sliders were better.
Is that even important fonts are fonts and generally no aosp thing gets custom font support and Google sans are for pixel things. Idk about which fonts will our phone get.
Third party launchers will work after December android security patch builds.
Dark mode is in display options and works good.
I don't know what dark theme and wallpaper have to do.
The srgb thing works but android or its apps aren't made to use srgb colors default is rgb which is used by most of the web.
Feature flags were removed by Google in beta 3 of Android 10.
Force activities resizable makes apps which don't work or don't allow split screen (insta) are made to be opened in split screen.
Enabling free form works and can be accessed from recent apps screen - click the app icon - open in free form. (don't know how you tested it)
Auto fill helps in password managers to fill in usernames and passwords.
It's in wake display also same to your missing ambient display.
Other things I've left are either too much to explain / really broken / I don't care of those since I don't use it.
Widevine has changed to l3 you didn't notice.
Sound output isn't very great it'll be fixed in next build I've reported that to asus.

nowadays phones are getting so powerful and people can take great pictures so shouldn't sRGB be enabled by default? like it does help semi-professional photo editing if we get a bit more color accuracy.

Gestures are enabled by Google after December security patch nova / most other launchers work with gestures. You can however use 2 button and 3 button navigation perfectly.
About that dark and black mode difference we don't have an amoled or led display it's an lcd so it won't make difference in battery but kind of personal choice. I like dark more than black.
The thing about wallpaper and dark thing - in android 9 dark/light theme was set by wallpaper color so live wallpapers needed to support color picker api to tell the device to keep light or dark theme. (it was half broken by asus as selecting dark theme should've disabled the api completely, but using pixel default live wallpapers they had that api so dark mode worked with them).
That srgb was being considered by Google they dropped it as it broke a lot of the things.
You can resize top and bottom windows just hold the middle line in centre and drag it where you want to put it. (I use 400 dpi so I get more steps).
It's because that feature is intended towards large screen tablets or foldables and Samsung made their own thing, (the free form window thing).
It's for devs making password manager apps or autofill apps those people need it for debugging, the logging levels are to make reports to find bugs, the max request is how many times in one field the autofill will attempt to fill in credentials. The max visible dataset is if you have multiple accounts to one app (take Gmail as example) so while trying to autofill it lists all of available accounts to show (I'm not an expert in this so I maybe wrong if needed confirm that.
About sound issue it is very real and use some good quality earphones or compare side by side with 060 running device.
